A sexy, small town, fake boyfriend rom com!

Josh Landry is one of the hottest bartenders in New Orleans. He’s shown many a female tourist that things are definitely big and easy down here.

And he’s now been celibate for a year. Because he finally met her.

Yes, her. The One.

But, after nothing more than a hot goodnight kiss and a promise to meet up again next year if they’re both still interested, she went home to Iowa.

It’s been a long year.

But now it’s Mardi Gras again and he’s ready for his happily ever after.

If she shows up.

***

Oh, she shows up. For her best friend’s wedding.

But Tori is a terrible bridesmaid because all she can think about is her knight-in-shining-Mardi-Gras-beads from last year.

Well, and because she accidentally lays a hot kiss on her BFF.

Aka, the groom.

Unfortunately, no one believes that it was a case of mistaken identity. So, now she has to convince everyone she has no intention of ruining the wedding. She’s going to need a crazy-about-her boyfriend ASAP. Even if he’s just faking it.

Well there’s only one other person she knows in Louisiana...

Josh is all in. In fact, he’s thrilled. And he’s not faking anything.

But the groom isn’t faking his case of cold feet either.

And now Tori might have a choice to make.

You guys....just wait until you read about Josh and Tori. I didn't put this book down...I started and finished it in one long sitting!

When I say this story is hot....it's Bayou in summer hot. Josh meets Tori at the bar he works at on Mardi Gras and there is an immediate connection. After some steamy kisses, Josh reluctantly sends Tori back home but tells her that if she still thinks about him and wants him after a year that they should meet back at the same bar on Mardi Gras. Well of course Tori can't stop thinking about the hot bartender. But when she goes back to NOLA for her best friends wedding, she gets to the bar and....misses Josh. But she doesn't give up and tracks him down. And he still wants her...bad. When she needs a date to the best friends wedding, Josh is more than happy to step up. And this is where they really get to know one another and form their relationship...and of course, fall in love.

My Best Friend's Mardi Gras Wedding is CLASSIC Erin Nicholas. If you loved her Sapphire Falls and Billionaire's series, I promise you will love the Boys on the Bayou!

Somehow I always forget just how good Erin Nicholas books are until I start another one. Ms. Nicholas just whaps me upside the head with how wonderful her stories are! This story is steamy, it's romantic, it's laugh out loud funny and just so much fun to read that I could have stayed in the world of Erin Nicholas forever!
This is the first in a new series (even if it is a spin off), so how can ALL the characters be so well developed that you think you actually know them? Josh's family is so extremely eccentric that you have to believe in them, because everybody has somebody that strange in their family (I'm not naming names). His siblings are pains in the butt, but family non the less.
Tori has plenty of her own quirks. She is a gaga for animals person. She's a vet now, but boy did she do some things she shouldn't have in her past to get back at people if they weren't kind to their animals. Then there's the bride and the groom. Don't even get me started on the bride!
This book was a whirlwind of happenings and feelings that leaves you happy and wanting more of the Boys of the Bayou!

My Best Friend's Mardi Gras Wedding (Boys of the Bayou, #1) by Erin Nicholas
I'm so excited that Tori and Josh are almost here! I can't even tell you how much I love this little town in Louisiana and this crazy-but-loving family! This series has been in my head for a couple of years now and this story has been with me since last summer with all of the details coming together last October during a retreat with Erin McCarthy and Mari Carr. I feel like I've known and loved these people forever! And now it's finally here!

I'm telling you, Tori is one of the most likable heroines I've ever written. Not that I don't love all of my girls! I definitely do! But Tori is just so...sweetly awkward and unassuming. She was just a delight to, not only get to know, but to watch fall in love. She was just this person I wanted to be loved so badly and I knew that Josh Landry was the guy. And Josh... he's this great mixture of all the things I love best in romance heroes. He's a flirt, with plenty of confidence, but he's got a sense of humor and ability to love that, frankly, was wasted on every girl before Tori. Thankfully, he sees that almost instantly. He falls head over heels and watching him convince her that she really is all of the amazing things he thinks she is... *happy sigh*.

And this is just the start! The fun and laughter, the sexiness, the sweetness, the craziness...it's all going to continue as you get to know this family better and spend more time down by the bayou with me!

I can't wait to hear what you all think of My Best Friend's Mardi Gras Wedding next week!!

Tori and Josh might be one of my favorite fictional couples. They are fun, different, and their chemistry is off the charts. I completely adore Tori’s quirkiness. She’s one of the most relatable heroines I have read. And Josh. Omgah that man is AMAZING. He’s not pushy. But don’t underestimate his drive of going for what he wants.

The secondary characters were beyond entertaining. I want to be an honorary Landry. They are fun, have no problems giving each other crap, yet are the first to stand up and support the others. There were a few secondary characters that left a lot to be desired, and added just enough drama, and I was surprised to find that I really want a story on one of the characters I wasn’t fond of through most of the story (because only Erin Nicholas can make you feel for a character you started off hating)

A phenomenal must read I would highly recommend.

4.5 Bayou Boy Perfect for Iowa Girl Stars
* * * * 1/2 Spoiler Free
As someone who usually doesn't read teases or excerpts before reading a book, Erin Nicholas' newsletter made it impossible not to take a taste of My Best Friend's Mardi Gras Wedding (Boys of the Bayou Book 1). She expertly gave us the first meeting of Tori and Josh and it was so charming and revealing of who these characters were, I had to go immediately and click click this book!

And oh, my my...I am so thrilled I did. This was a unique and special experience. The way Nicholas takes us by the hand and gives us all the internal feelings from the start of how Tori and Josh sense this first connection is not just some hot pick up by a bartender and woman across the bar. They both feel the undercurrent of something different and because of it, a date a year later is made...

Tori is a woman who never feels as if she fits in.
Well, she does with the animals she takes care of and treats as a vet but with people, not so much. It has been this way since her childhood. She felt things deeply and seeing any hard brought to animals caused her to be their defender. She would rush to make bully kids feel the same pain they had inflicted, no matter the punishment she would receive. Her father was concerned about her so he asked the neighbor boy to look out for his daughter. This made the relationship between Andrew grow into a BFF. He was always there to protect her, defuse situations, and get her out of the chaos.

Tori finds herself back in New Orleans one year after meeting Josh. The year has gone by and she has thought of him and the kisses they shared over those two days. She couldn't get him out of her head. He seemed so real in his thinking she was pretty and sexy. No one ever had made her feel that way. Usually, they all made her feel out of place or too much. All of these feelings are floating around in her head when she accepted the offer to be her BFF request to be in his wedding party to a woman she felt was a huge mistake for him. She would be there to support him, he had always been there for her.

Now Tori is in Bridezilla Hell. Loud banging music, too many people acting ridiculous, being stuck with Andrew's bitchy fiance and friends, and wearing a mask is not Tori's idea of fun. She really doesn't want to be here and when she is instructed to find Andrew to let him know the bride's group will be late getting at the bar where the guys are, off Tori goes. She goes through the crowds and it is fate the bar she is sent to is the same one she is to meet Josh in one year later.

She looks around hoping to see Josh and there...she sees broad shoulders and his back is to her...Tori runs up and turns him around, a mask in place on his face too...and He Is Here! She reaches out and Kisses Him!

But wait...Those aren't His Lips...
No, there is something Wrong...
Oh, Hell No...This is the soon-to-be-groom Andrew, not Josh!

And ya know, the Bridal Group all show up to see this in all its glory. And the worst is Andrew KNEW it was Tori. Now Tori tries as hard as she can to explain she thought it was Josh and he was her guy...and this was an innocent mistake. Tori is determined now to find Josh so all this cray-cray will go away. She goes to the bar asking where Josh is...she is told he no longer works there and is given where he works now.

Josh was going nuts. He kept leaving his bar to get to the place he had worked a year ago. All he could do is search through the throngs of drunk happy people, beads for bare breasts, and get himself to where he promised to meet the woman who has been in his head for the last year. Josh was taken... he couldn't think of anyone else, didn't want anyone else, and kept company with only his own hand for the last year. He wanted so hard for Tori to be at the bar and he looked far and wide but she wasn't there...

Tori finds out where she can find Josh. He will be the answer to fix everything. She goes to his hometown, insists to his sister at the Swamp Tour company she will only talk with Josh for a trip and will wait no longer how long it takes. Josh gets back from his tour and is warned a woman will not leave till he talks with her...As his family teases him, he rushes to the office and sees his dream girl sitting with the mascot otter. They both see each other and rockets are set off...Tori explains her situation and asks Josh to be her "pretend boyfriend" to which Josh says, Hell Ya.

I loved this book. It was a tale about being who you are without shame. Josh and his amazing family were knee-deep in owning who they were. Each family member was a hoot. They had heart, humor and the brothers and sister have the need for their own books, which I sense are comings. There was such warmth towards Tori, she felt immediately at home with them.

Josh was truly a romantic and special fella... Book Boyfriend material for sure. He is sexy, alpha, flirty, and smooth. He also is not afraid of his feelings and knows what love feels like as he has been surrounded by it since birth. When he makes mistakes, he owns up to them...and his sexy times are something to dream about...

This was the first of a series and, fingers crossed, it won't take forever for the next entry to publish because I have fallen hard for these Bayou Boys.

I love this first look at the Landrys. The Gator Boys were my favorite secondary characters in the Big Easy.

I love wacky Tori and that Josh gives her the freedom to be who she is! Can't wait to see the rest fall!

Awesome start to the Boys of the Bayou series! It made me laugh, cry and swoon.
Josh Landry is a bartender in Louisiana and Victoria "Tori" Kramer is a veterinarian in Iowa.
They meet in New Orleans during Mardi Gras and decide to meet up again in a year if they are still single.
Tori comes back for her best friend's wedding. There is a mistaken identity mishap with the groom and Josh comes to the rescue.
What happens and will Josh and Tori get their Happily Ever After?
I loved that Josh lets Tori be herself and doesn't try to "contain" her like others have. Josh's family is the best!
Now I'm eagerly waiting for Owen's book
I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a hot small town romance with lots of heart.

Whenever I read a Nicholas book, I know I'm in for a hilarious, fun-filled good time that's rounded out with steamy chemistry and heartfelt romance. After meeting these boys of the bayou in the Boys of the Big Easy Series I was already crushing on them a little, but I'm now full blown in love with all three generations of the Landry clan. If you’ve ever wanted a family who loves hard, teases mercilessly, accepts unconditionally and always has your back, it's the Landrys. And for Tori, who has only ever been unconditionally loved by the special needs animals she doctors and cares for, Josh's family is everything she’s never had but always wanted.

This book is just so darn fun while squeezing your heart in the best of ways, and Nicholas has, once again, managed to top herself. She gives us a smoking hot Cajun boy whose heart is as big as the bayou, with a large colorful family who all love big in their own unique way. You'll adore Grandma Ellie, with her outrageous terms for a man's, ah, “member," her southern wisdom and ability to see clear to the heart of someone at first glance. You’ll love the family lore of the Landrys' propensity for falling in love in fifteen minutes and their famous grand gestures, and you’ll be intrigued by Josh’s siblings and eager to learn more about them.

If that's not enough, there's the whole best friend's wedding. As the groom's best friend at a southern debutante's wedding, tomboy Tori gets relegated to the bridesmaid side of things, and neither she nor the bride are happy about it. This, of course, makes for highly entertaining reading, and let's just say there are some big surprises on the big day that nobody saw coming. And the Landry grand gesture? Josh works hard to come up with one worthy of Tori. If you like your rom-coms with a little heat, a ton of heart, and a big, happy, messy family that will have you wanting to be adopted by them, you'll easily fall nose over toes for Josh and Tori's story.

This book deserves way more than 5 stars!

A sexy playboy New Orleans bartender who waits a year (a year!) for the love of his life. A gorgeous (slightly awkward) vet who collects random pets. A fake relationship that never really felt that fake. Yup, I loved every single thing about this book.

Josh and Tori have so much chemistry but it was Josh's total acceptance of Tori's...quirkiness that stole my heart. I know I will be rereading this one soon and can't wait for more from the Landry family.

Oh my! Not matter what I write, I can’t do Josh & Tori justice! Tori was in New Orleans to experience Mardi Gras & met Josh in the bar he was working at. The chemistry & attraction was hot, steamy & instant! Tori doesn’t trust it so Josh has to quickly come up with a plan. He convinces her to meet back there next Mardi Gras if they still feel the same. A year later, Josh is frantically looking for Tori. Tori is there looking for Josh but they just miss each other. Tori really didn’t think Josh would be there& she just happened to be in New Orleans for her friends wedding. Will they find their way back to each other?

These characters are unreal! Josh was the typical bartender with a girl every night until he met Tori. Then it all stopped & he thought only of her. Tori thought she might have feelings for her friend Andrew, until she met Josh. Tori thinks Andrew is her best friend but he comes across as egotistical, arrogant & a jerk. Whether he gets cold feet or suddenly thinks he’s in love with Tori, he puts her in a bad spot. I feel he deserves Paisley. She’s vain, spoiled & a witch. She’s trying to make Tori’s experience a nightmare. I loved Josh’s family & the life, flair & color they add to the story. I really can’t wait for the next story!!

One of the many things I’ve always loved about Erin Nicholas is her ability to make you feel you are a part of her books and friends with her characters and she managed that big time in her latest release, the first book in her Boys of the Bayou series, My Best Friend’s Mardi Gras Wedding. I loved everything about the quirky heroine, the swoon worthy hero and their romance in this book and I loved the hero’s family with all my heart, but man she wrote a couple of antagonists I wanted to dump in the bayou with the alligators. This book was fun, a bit crazy, sweet, but also very sexy and I found it impossible to put down.

Josh and Tori said goodbye one year ago during Mardi Gras with plans to meet this year if they were both still available and thinking about one another, but a series of accidents have them missing one another on their fateful night and leaves Tori no choice but to hunt down the man she hasn’t stopped thinking about to get her best friend’s shrew of a bride off her back and save face. Lucky for Tori, Josh is more than happy to see her and his family, well they can’t wait to welcome her to the bayou and the Landry fold.

This was such a feel good romance because while most people would think it was crazy that Josh and Tori felt so strongly for one another after only knowing one another a short time, his family knew that they were meant to be together because it’s the way Landry’s love. I seriously could kiss each one of his brothers, cousins, grandparents, aunts, and uncles for embracing Tori and making her feel not only welcome but comfortable in her own skin, something that has always been lacking in her life. Oh and Andrew, her supposed “best friend” my jury is still out on that a$$hat and my jury is the hanging kind, just saying. I won’t even get into my feelings for his fiancée and her petty ways, and the mind games they both liked to play with Tori.

I loved that through their conversations, we got to know Josh and especially Tori and how easily they accepted one another even with their weirdness, quirks, and crazy. I honestly felt that Josh was so use to everything that made his family unique that with each piece of Tori’s life he uncovered he couldn’t help but love her. I could see Tori blossoming each time she was in Josh or his family’s presence and it was beautiful to watch.

Completely satisfying, undeniably sexy, and filled with the excitement of a Saturday night on Bourbon Street, My Best Friend’s Mardi Gras Wedding is everything I look for in a romance and Erin Nicholas’ unique style shines through in this fantastic story.

Fans of Erin Nicholas’ 𝐵𝑜𝑦𝑠 𝑜𝑓 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝐵𝑖𝑔 𝐸𝑎𝑠𝑦 series, you are in for an AMAZING treat. The 𝐵𝑜𝑦𝑠 𝑜𝑓 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝐵𝑎𝑦𝑜𝑢 series is here and we are starting off with Josh and Tori’s story in 𝗠𝘆 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱'𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝘀 𝗪𝗲𝗱𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴. I enjoyed the hell out of their journey. From the very start, there is incredible chemistry and an undeniable connection between our main lovable characters. Then we get that juicy but light angst factor that puts my heart on edge. Throw in some fun banter, humor, sexy times, along with that small town romance feel...you got yourself a romance that's truly unputdownable. I loved the whole vibe of this story. I was entertained. I laughed. I swooned. I blushed. This love story really had it all. With each turn of the page, I found myself more and more invested in these characters and I just can't wait to see what Erin brings us next!

Erin Nicholas has done it again. The Boys if the Bayou is a spinoff of The Boys Of The Big Easy. Don't worry though, you don't have to have read any of the 'Big Easy' books to live this one.

Tori came from Iowa to New Orleans last year to visit her best friend, Andrew. When Andrew gets caught up in what his girlfriend, Paisley, wants to do, Tori is left on her own. It's Mardi Gras. She wanders into a bar and is immediately attracted to the hot bartender, who starts flirting with her. They make a connection and agree to meet up at the bar in one year, if they are still single and interested.

Josh is a bartender who also runs a swamp boat tour company with his family. He is struck by how beautiful and special Tori is. When they make the agreement to meet up at the bar in a year, Tori is all Josh can think about.

On the year anniversary, they are both eager to meet up. But when other people and the Mardi Gras crowd seem to conspire to keep them apart, will they be able to find each other and continue where they left off?

This book has it all; sexy Bayou boys, hysterical family members, meddling friends and a ticked iff bride and wedding party. The characters are well written, even the bad guys.

Edit to Add: I meant to include this but frankly forgot because it evens out after the midway point. The first half of this has lots of introspection-style exposition. I skimmed whole paragraphs sometimes and that's a definite weakness that bears mention. This doesn't change my rating, but it may have a bearing on whether or not you want to pick this up.

I struggled with some older works by Erin Nicholas so decided to skip to something more recent and was pulled in by the New Orleans adjacent setting (despite the awful cover). I'm really glad I did because Josh is just the best ever and I really like the Autre town and the Landry family this is obviously the start of a series for. So not only was this a clear win, but it definitely sold (oversold, but I'll get to that) me on the potential for more.

Tori was a little harder to engage with. She is nearly as into Josh as he is into her, but with her "best friend" representing a huge negative motivation* holding her back. So I was often impatient with her back-and-forth and Andrew wore on my nerves every time he showed up to play jealous marplot (I am coming very close to overusing that term lately—but it's just so apt). I liked her, mind. She's totally over the top with the whole animals thing and that would normally annoy the snot out of me as shorthand for being a good person like authors sometimes do. Only Nicholas goes the extra step of making it just a little bit unhinged and that made her somehow perfect; and particularly perfect for Josh and his family of loveable whack-jobs.

And as I said, I fell for Josh early and hard. I kind of loved how his family owns their addiction to passion and that it includes almost an expectation of falling in love fast and hard. So when he falls for Tori, he does it without fear and with total commitment. What saves this from absurdity is that it is accompanied with an intense focus on her but without pretense or filter. So he wants to know everything about her and that includes her faults and her crazy and her concerns and her history. So he laps that all up and proves time and again that he's listening and observing and then putting it all together with ways to make her happy. It was beyond endearing. And there's this thread throughout where the family focus on story has him looking for the grand gesture that he just knows will knock her out and convince her of his love. Meanwhile, he keeps doing all these little things to make her happy that just captured my heart. And I'm all thinking "that boy is building a grand gesture by doing hundreds of little ones and spreading it all out over a couple of really intense days."

And then the grand gesture came and it was even better than I expected because . And that totally broke all my feelz (in a good way) and I was just so satisfied!

And then the epilogue went and oversold the series and I came down from my high and I'm still giving it five stars despite Andrew being a giant boo and the author abusing romance epilogue protocol to market the next book, instead. Yeah, it was just that good so that the buzz-kill epilogue bounced right off my good mood.

A note about Steamy: There are two all-out, decently-sized explicit sex scenes and a mini one or two that might qualify depending. So the middle of my steam tolerance. It was all very well done and very much in service to the intimacy and emotional arc of the characters. So exactly what they needed to be.

* Negative Motivations: I kind of hate that the term "negative motivation" isn't widespread, yet. Since it isn't, I'm going to save off this little jag to append to my reviews that feature the term. Jennifer Crusie blogged about it a bit back (or, if that link doesn't work, here's a cache of the original) and it changed how I understand story. The problem with the term is that if you've never heard it before, you'd assume it meant motivations that are harmful or immoral. Not so. What it refers to is motivations not to do something. The thing is that many of us are motivated to not do things for a lot of different, perfectly valid and reasonable, reasons. The problem is that in a story motivations to not do things are a huge drag on the plot—particularly considering the fact that most negative motivations are overcome by the character simply deciding they don't care any more (or, rather, that they do care and are now motivated to do the thing). So not only do you have a counter to action but you also have a situation where to overcome it, all a character has to do is change their mind. Which means eventually, the reader is rooting for the character to get over him/herself already and do the thing we want them to do. Conflict drives story. Conflict between a reader and a main character drives readers away from story.

My Best Friend's Mardi Gras Wedding is filled with steamy chemistry, lots of wonderful family moments, and NOLA history/information I now feel like I could visit and know exactly where to go. I loved this story from start to finish.

Tori and Josh met the year prior during Mardi Gras. It was a connection that neither could exactly put a finger on, but one where Josh made Tori promise that she would meet him in that exact spot a year later if they were both still single. A romantic notion, yes, but Josh comes from a family of big romantic's so he thought nothing of it. Tori on the other hand is a bit more skeptical, but still there is something about the southern man that draws her back.

Tori had thought of Josh often in the last year, but did she really believe he would show up again a year later, she wasn't sure. She just so happened to be back in NOLA for her best friend's wedding during Mardi Gras, so the timing was perfect. Now if she could just slip away from the wedding festivities long enough to see if Josh actually shows up. When the bride asks her to go meet Andrew, her best friend, at the very bar she is supposed to meet Josh at she happily agrees. Unfortunately, Andrew makes things complicated when he accidently kisses Tori...oops, she did not see that coming.

The perfect solution, find Josh, bring him as her wedding date, and correct everyone's assumption that she is trying to steal the groom, whom she is only friends with. Thankfully, Josh is completely on board with this plan because he hasn't stopped thinking about Tori for the last year either. He agrees to be glued to her side, no hardship for him. Does he trust Andrew-no. Does he want to get to know Tori-yes. Are things moving quickly between them-maybe. He's a Landry-he's used to things being just a bit crazy, but will she enjoy his family's kind of crazy? The more he gets to know her...she might be more perfect than he ever imagined.

Tori is falling fast for Josh and somehow the thought doesn't scare her. The troubling thing that does is Andrew keeps trying to pull her aside and mentioning her past mistakes. She knows he's only trying to look out for her, like he's always done, but nothing about Josh feels like a mistake. For the first time in her life she feels like Josh is the best decision she could ever make.

This is the first book in the the Boys of the Bayou series and I'm looking forward to reading more about this wonderful family.

2 ½ .
⭐⭐💫

I found the heroine/FMC both contradictive/inconsistent and immature.
And I also did not believe the chemistry between the hero and heroine, it was too one-sided.
The hero was smitten and did almost all of the pursuing…. The heroine well she seemed just mildly interested.
There was too much going on with the side characters and this made the story kind of jumbled.
It also had some weird undercurrent/vibe with the mentioning of plantations etc.

My Best Friend's Madi Gras Wedding is such a treat! I felt like I was down in Louisiana, hanging on the Bayou, and enjoying every second with these eccentric folks! Erin Nicholas really knows how to write a book that will sweep her readers off their feet and into another world. Not only that, she writes these characters out of the mold! They aren't all perfect but realistic and charming. I loved it to pieces. My only real issue with the book (which isn't really an issue at all to be honest) is that it started off a little slow for me. Thankfully I pushed through though because it's a wonderful read. I highly recommend it!

As you can see, this is the first book in the Boys of the Bayou series. Each book can stand alone but they are interconnected! The ending in this one sets up the next book in the series. I honestly cannot wait to read it! Anyway, these books are interconnected as the main characters are all either brothers or cousins (and friends) and you will have met them in this book. Again, they can stand alone, but with series that are interconnected in some way I always recommend reading them in order -- or at least the first book in the series first.

In this one, readers will meet Josh and Tori. They met a year ago during Madi Gras but decided instead of giving each other their numbers they would meet one year later in the same spot if they both found themselves still thinking of the other. Fast forward a year later and fate brings these two together again. But it's not the easiest road to maneuver. Because it seems her best friend who is getting married while she is visiting is suddenly having cold feet. And this sets of a domino effect on Tori and Josh's relationship. What will happen? Well, read this one and you will find out! I promise, the journey is well worth it!

Highly Recommended. 4.5 stars

Attention safety gang: this one here is just for you!

So the hero and the heroine met a year ago at a bar on Mardi Gras. They had an instant connection and kissed several times during the two days that she was in town. However, after the two days she had to head back to Iowa and the hero wasn’t ready to let her go. So he comes up with an idea that next year on Mardi Gras, they have to come back and meet at the same bar if they’re both still interested.

The heroine agrees but tells him that she doesn’t want to exchange numbers because she doesn’t want to be disappointed if she doesn’t hear from him. Well, the hero doesn’t care that he hasn’t spoken to her in almost a year because he still crazy about her and stay celibate during that entire time. I love that the hero knew that she was the one for him even before having slept with each other and decided to stay celibate until he sees her again. Keep in mind, he has no idea if she’s even going to show up next year.

Well, that’s pretty much the most exciting part of the entire book. I thought the hero and the heroine were lovely and was such a sweet hero but I was so down board for the remainder of the book. You pretty much spend the entire rest of the book reading about her animals, the farm, alligators, his family, his family history, his family business, and a shit ton of information about Andrew the heroine‘s best friend who is Wedding she’s in New Orleans for.

There was plenty of character development but I don’t think there was enough development in their actual relationship. They sleep with each other once and it’s like 75% into the book and then of course the childhood best friend with the fiancé from hell finally declares he’s also in love with the heroine. You could see that one a mile away based on how jealous he was of the hero from the moment he met him. And then the book kind of just abruptly ends with her moving to Louisiana. You don’t really get any kind of resolution over Andrews declaration and what that means for their friendship. And… I don’t know I didn’t really learn much about the H/h as a couple.

I didn’t joy the book but I found myself skimming through a lot of the book because there’s just so much unnecessary information about her farm and her animals and his entire ancestral line. I needed more of them as a couple and their relationship and not about all the fucking animals that she owns. I would still recommend it to anyone in the safe to get on because it was sweet and it was nice to read about a hero that stay celibate after meeting the heroine.

*** 3.5 STARS ***

This was a very entertaining and quick read. I really liked the author’s writing style and the characters in this book. However, sometimes the story was a bit over the top and there were also parts of it that were just a little boring. Nevertheless, I’m still kind of interested in checking out the next book in the series.

Every time I pick up a new Erin Nicholas book, I know I'm going to have a new favorite story, a new keeper, a new book boyfriend, a new "you've GOT to read this!" My Best Friend's Mardi Gras Wedding is no exception.

Victoria Kramer, known to her friends as Tori, and Josh Landry meet in a bar during Mardi Gras. He's been working as a bartender, she was there to kill some time before she returned home from vacation. They enjoyed a couple hours of conversation and a sweet kiss, neither wanting to admit that the intense connection they shared seemed way too good to be true. Tori is typically not one to throw caution to the wind in matters of the heart. But Josh, not wanting to completely lose the chance to build on this never-before experienced click, asks her to consider meeting him in a year if they haven't forgotten about the other before then.

It's a little bit An Affair to Remember, right? Especially since a year later, Tori's back in New Orleans because her best friend Andrew is getting married. For Tori, it's given her a reason to be back in town. And due to some crazy pre-wedding chaos, she needs to produce a boyfriend who's absolutely head-over-heels for her. Josh? He's fully onboard with this plan.

Erin Nicholas writes the stories we all want--they remind us of how incredible it is to find the one--someone who gets us, who sees all the quirky parts of us that others might want to smooth over or hide, but this person TREASURES. Nothing is as satisfying as that--having that sense of knowing and being known and found precious. Ms Nicholas writes this beautifully. Tori and Josh are definitely quirky and fascinating. They are also real and vulnerable and appealing. We get to know them and their family and friends. And we get to see how when we are willing to let down our walls, magic truly happens.

Another strength of Ms Nicholas's writing is how the couple is part of a strong, loving community. Josh and Tori are surrounded by friends and family who are both the best and occasionally worst things about not being alone ;) These people are funny, persistent, insightful, and sometimes just plain annoying, just like the people we love best and who love us best.

Ultimately, this is one wedding not to be missed. And I cannot wait for my next visit to the bayou, where we get to spend a little more time with the Landrys. Here's hoping we'll get to visit with Grandma Ellie and Grandpa Leo again! ;)

You ever read a story that just makes you feel oh so good? Well, My Best Friend's Mardi Gras Wedding is definitely that story. I swear I had a permanent grin on my face throughout this story. Josh is an absolute doll. I love him so much. He's my new dream guy. And Tori was so adorable. And together they were just sigh worthy. And don't forget smoking hot! Erin Nicholas totally transported me into this story. I felt like I was living every word. I can't wait to read more about these sexy Boys of the Bayou. But she's got her work cut out for her. She set the standard pretty high with this story. However I know she'll make the next one just as great. She definitely keeps getting better and better every time I read her new stories. They're so much fun and oh so sexy. Everything I love about romances.

I'm not exactly sure what made me buy this book. The cover doesn't grab me, and the title doesn't either. The blurb is okay, but it still doesn't seem like a story I would have rushed out to grab, but somehow it showed up on my kindle, and I'm super glad that it did. This was a sweet story, and I think I can attribute this 100% to Josh. I loved Josh and his love for love so much. This is an insta-love story, but it didn't feel like an insta-love story. There was a touch of the mystical to this insta-love that it felt perfectly right. Josh comes to his love for love naturally. His entire family has stories of epic love that runs deep. How could you grow up in a family like this and not expect an epic love for yourself?

Josh falls for Tori immediately when she walks into the bar where he's working during Mardi Gras. They talk, connect, and then make a plan to meet again during Mardi Gras in one year if they are interested and available. Tori is interested, and things work out wonderfully for her when she comes back to New Orleans during Mardi Gras for her best friend, Andrew's, wedding.

This was an interesting story because there really was no journey toward love for Josh and Tori. Yeah, it took a second for them (especially Tori) to label those feelings as love, but in reality they were all in almost from the beginning. So what story is left to tell? The biggest obstacle in this story is Tori's baggage. It's not really big baggage. It's not like she has had lots of tragedy in her life. In fact, I thought that a lot of the drama she talked about from her youth sounded somewhat similar to the sorts of things lots of awkward teens go through. The big story is that Tori is "weird" because she feels more attached to animals than humans. Her dad and Andrew have spent their whole lives rescuing her from embarrassing herself, and now Andrew wants to protect her from jumping into things with Josh. But it is totally obvious that Andrew is a tool, and he has a totally skewed agenda here. Andrew was a bum in this story, and it was crazy that Tori could not see this. Tori's inability to see her own value, and her reluctance to throw Andrew to the curb, was the biggest frustration of the book. I hated that any part of the story had to deal with Andrew at all. I wanted this to be all about Josh and Tori ... and Josh's lovely family.

Other than my irritation with the Andrew stuff, I'd say that my biggest issue with the story was that Tori seemed to jump into a future with Josh without really thinking about it at all. It sure seems like a woman who has her own successful veterinarian service in Iowa would have a few things to work out before choosing to uproot her life and move to a totally different area of the country, but it isn't really dealt with at all. But this was a minor issue, and I guess it is in line with the sort of thing you might do for an epic love like Josh.

There is a strong New Orleans presence in this story. The setting really was practically another character in the story. Although Mardi Gras is taking place, more time is spent outside of that craziness. But I have to say that I played in a Mardi Gras parade during college long ago, and this story brought back all those memories of the chaos of New Orleans during the celebrations. Erin Nicholas framed this setting perfectly, and I loved it.

I loved Josh's family, and I am excited to read the epic love stories in store for the other members of the family. I loved hanging out in their world, and I LOVED how much all of them love everything to do with love and how they rooted for Josh and Tori to succeed. This was a great start to this series. I'll give it four stars. I really liked it.

I love Erin's writing and I haven't had a chance to read a book of hers in so long. I was so excited for the chance to read this book because it sounded SO GOOD! Let me tell you, it blew expectations out of the water!

One of my favorite things about this book was the "insta-love" between Josh and Tori. I am very new to the "insta-love" bandwagon, but this is, by far, one of my favorites! I adored that she was a tourist and he was the bartender!!!! My next favorite thing was the pace of the book. This was a pretty fast moving book, but that was so great because we got to see soooo much of Josh and Tory. These two were attached at the hip! The amount of dedication that they had to each other was so adorable. I love that they were doing everything they could to spend as much time together as possible. Even better, I love how the wedding (her whole purpose for being in NOLA) was getting in her way! This list of favorite things is probably endless, because there are so many awesome parts to this story. In addition to all of these favorite things. THIS BOOK WAS SO MUCH FUN! Between NOLA and the Bayou this book was so much fun and lots of laughs, I enjoyed it so much!!

Josh's family was another big favorite of mine. I LOVED how Tori sought him out and his family completely welcomed her. From the "grand gesture" stories to the bayou, everything was just so awesome. The way that Tori fit in was pretty great too! Josh's family made for some truly hysterical and amazing characters. I loved how everyone had a purpose in their business, how they told stories and how they were Josh's cheerleaders. Their involvement was so big, that it truly made an epic impact on this story.

Ok, now I have to talk about Andrew. I hated Andrew from the beginning of this book, and for good reason! This dude! I thought from the beginning that he should go take a hike in that darn bayou LOL. He made for some interesting times in this book though! And Paisley, equally hated, made for some seriously great drama. You can't have a good book without some good drama and these two took the cake with it. Erin did such an amazing job adding these two in and they created the perfect amount of twists and turns.

My emotions were all over the place reading this and I loved every second of that. Once I got to the end I desperately needed more and I can't wait to see what she has next with Owen and Maddie. Sounds like there's a storm coming and I love watching storms!

I adore this book!!

I didn't just fall in love with Josh and Tori, I fell in love with the whole Landry family (Allian family and extended members included)!! I can already tell that I am going to LOVE this series. There is just nothing better than revisiting characters you know and love time and time again.

I'm not always a fan of instalove romances but this one just worked for me. I appreciate that, although they both knew they were feeling something "more" from the very moment they first met and during their year-long separation, they didn't rush to proclaim forever with each other. Although this entire book spanned just a couple of days (with flashbacks from the few days from the previous year) I still felt a genuine and real connection between Josh and Tori.

The way that Josh took the time to really know Tori and her passions and did it with enthusiasm was really sexy. The way that he let her make decisions for herself while also letting her know that he was going to be by her side regardless was everything. He was exactly the opposite of Andrew.

Speaking of Andrew. I was so irritated by him and how he used his history with Tori to make her question her feelings for Josh and her wanting to have fun with him. By default, I was at times irritated by Tori for letting him get into her head. I can't even say that I hate Andrew but I hate that he was misguided in his attempts to "protect" Tori. Just the same, I couldn't say that I hated Paisley for the way she treated Tori. I didn't like her because of her personality but I actually understood her reasons for being upset by Tori's presence. I don't care to see these characters redeemed though. So, no worries about fitting them in later books, Ms. Nicholas! LOL.

Tori was such a unique character and her love and passion for her animals was the best!! While I didn't always love her loyalty to Andrew and their friendship, I appreciated it just the same. I love that she liked to live boldly and that being with Josh gave her the freedom to be herself.

This story was a fun, sexy ride from beginning to end and I was actually sad to not be able to go right into Owen's story when I finished. I had a great time getting lost in New Orleans and Autre and I can't wait for my next visit!!

Holy Cow!!!! This was my first book from this author, but it will not be my last!

This is book 1 in the Boys of the Bayou and I am dying to get my hands on the next book. Once I started reading I was hooked and could not tear my eyes away. Even when I had to stop reading for a moment, my mind was still thinking about this book and what I thought was going to happen next.

Tori and Josh had such amazing chemistry and I absolutely fell in love with both of these characters as well as Josh's entire family! I loved this story line and although I had predictions about what I thought was going to happen, I still was surprised time and time again. There were moments I was laughing out loud at some of the predicaments Tori found herself in, but I loved how Josh supported her and encouraged her to be the crazy, animal loving girl that she was.

This is a must read book for sure! You will not be disappointed! - By Alisa

OMG....what a fun read!! This story hooked me from the very first page with Josh walking through the streets of New Orleans during Mardi Gras to meet up with a woman he met a year ago and can't forget. Tori who is back in New Orleans for her best friend's wedding shows up to meet Josh but ends up kissing the wrong guy. The wedding party sees her mistake and won't believe her when she tells them about Josh--so she sets out to find Josh to be her doting boyfriend for the wedding festivities. Josh doesn't think that Tori showed up to meet him as promised and is having a really bad day when she shows up in Autre at his Boys on the Bayou tour company--and the fun and sparks begin. SO MUCH FUN--grandma Ellie-love the new vocabulary I learned from her, an otter, a red-sequined dress and barn kittens. What a ride--can't wait for Owen's story.

Tori, a veterinarian in Iowa, is in New Orleans where she meets Josh who is a bartender. They have an instant chemistry and connection, so they agree to meet each other in the same place a year later if they still have feelings for each other.

They have both thought of each other during the year so when Tori’s best friend is having his wedding in New Orleans she decides that it will be the perfect opportunity to see if Josh feels the same way. When things become complicated with her best friend, she asks Josh to be her date to avoid any discomfort and Josh is more than happy to spend time with her. The feelings they for each other are stronger than ever but is this just a vacation fling or forever?

Not only were Tori and Josh perfect together but the secondary characters were great as well and leave us wanting more books in this new series.

This was the first book in a new series and it was fantastic! You just can’t go wrong with an Erin Nicholas book. I loved Josh and Tori as a couple. They were fun and you could feel the attraction they had for each other. Tori is in New Orleans for her best friend, Andrew’s wedding. Andrew is quite a jerk and you just can’t wait for Tori to realize this. But because of this wedding Tori is able to meet up with her Mardi Gras crush from the year before, Josh.
I loved the scenes with Josh’s family. They are a loud and crazy group and they welcomed Tori with open arms and she fit right in. I can’t wait for the other Landry’s books. This is going to be a great series and I can’t wait to read more.
