Now, Josie and Kyle engage in a battle of wills in business and in pleasure. Out of the three in this series, this one was the weakest for me. The reason why was Josie, which surprised me. I really liked her in the other 2 books. But in this one she came off as such a bitch for most of the book. She definitely had control issues and the need to be the one that would win.

I really liked the initial encounter between these 2, at first glance it just seems like it was an anonymous fun sexy encounter, but was not the reason when both realized the other was the person they were meeting with.

Even their first couple "games" were fun, but it wasn't too long after that Josie changed and Kyle as well. He seemed to have Josie's number and the battle began between them started in earnest.

I found it interesting that while they both played a lot of games, there wasn't a lot of intercourse between them. I think the whole control thing just kept getting in the way.

sigh .... so this wasn't one of my favorites. it breaks my heart to be disappointed in a Jasmine Haynes book because I've never been. I've actually been the TOTAL opposite. Absolutely WOW'd every damn time! This story didn't WOW me. It actually felt like what I think a slow deflating balloon feels like while loosing air LOL it was a slow winding down of wowism (if that's ever a term lol).
SO here we have a story of two people who meet in a VERY imaginative way and I thought FOR SURE based on that elevator scene we would have WOW all over the damn place. But no lol. SO the story continues ... and the premise is each time they 'meet', one or the other gets to be the 'slave' and they trade back and forth. The storyline had imagination, as ALL Jasmine Haynes stories do, but no depth. There really was no relationship development at all. Josie has some serious baggage and so does Kyle. WE know the baggage, but neither of them know each others, and yet 'forever' and 'love' become a topic ... huh?! It felt in complete to me and a bit rushed at the end.
DO NOT GET ME WRONG BY THIS REVIEW ... this woman CAN write and she can write well, imaginatively, sexy, funny and witty and all around entertaining. This just wasn't one to WoW me.

Fair Game
3 Stars

Disappointing despite its potential.

Josie was very likable in the first two books, so I was surprised by how much she irked me in her own story. She comes across as cold and unemotional, refusing to admit both to Kyle and herself that she has feelings for him. Her constant need to be in control and to be victorious in their battle of wills is irritating.

Kyle, on the other hand, is sexy and sweet. His patience and willingness to sacrifice his own personal desires for Josie is incomprehensible as she doesn't seem to care one way or the other.

While I'm no stranger to erotica, BDSM does not really appeal to me. Josie and Kyle's sexual encounters are steamy and kinky without crossing the line into dominance and submission.

To sum up, the Fortune Hunter series is entertaining although the second and third installments do not measure up to the first.

These two played the game to win! It seemed like it was over as soon as it started, but Kyle was so persistent. They were perfect for each other. The chemistry was off the charts. The spice was through the roof.

The first is Fair Game by Jasmine Haynes. I asked Maria for the book after reading a review on Dear Author. Jane had said that she thought the book was really well written, but it made her uncomfortable. Since I'm always looking for a good erotic romance author, I decided to give it a read. Josie Tybrook is an up and comer at her company, Castle Heavy Mining, where she is a project manager. On her way to a meeting, she gets crushed up against a man in an overcrowded elevator. Given that Josie is a bit of a danger-girl, and because of her close proximity to the man, and she can tell that he's quite enjoying her being pressed up against him, she cops a bit of a feel before sashaying off the elevator and out of his life (she thinks) forever. That man is Kyle Perry and it turns out he's Josie's client. And he is wildly attracted to her. He wants desperately to see her again and is delighted by the turn of events that has brought her back into his life. He proposes that they begin seeing each other, a proposition which she promptly refuses. He raises the stakes by challenging her to a sexual encounter while returning from a business trip. She agrees, but indicates that this is a one time thing. He knows it won't be. They begin a game of sexual one-up-manship, where each of them is in total control of an encounter. Each time, they raise the stakes, making each encounter more daring, and pushing the other farther and farther. But everything changes when Kyle is offered a job at Castle. Will Josie agree to continue their relationship if he is her boss?

I found Fair Game to be an entertaining and fun read. The encounters between Josie and Kyle are heated and hot and very sexy. That being said, here I am presented yet again with a heroine whose motivations I don't understand. I didn't understand where her constant, never wavering need for total control came from. I didn't understand why when Kyle was clearly in pursuit and wanted to please her, she pushed him away. It confounded me. Here's a guy who has given her the best sex of her life, and still, she just can't commit. We're told that she was screwed over by an ex-boyfriend, but the backstory was never fleshed out to a point where I understood her motivations. We're told the ex is a dirt-bag and that he did her wrong, but never really understand why it is she's turned into this total control freak. I enjoyed the story, but never really connected with the heroine.

Final Grade: C

REVIEW COURTESY OF Romance Junkies:

Josie is on her way to a very important meeting. When she steps onto the elevator, she begins to notice a really handsome man... in more ways than one. After a touch of intimacy, Josie exits the elevator leaving the mystery man behind. She checks in with the receptionist for her meeting, and is genuinely surprised when the man from the elevator comes waltzing in... turns out he is the man she is there to see.

Kyle is intrigued with Josie who appears so cool on the outside, but is naughty underneath. After doing business with her, he decides go after her. Kyle keeps after Josie until she finally gives in. Their relationship becomes a game, and Josie and Kyle know it shouldn't go beyond casual sex. Josie and Kyle begin having real feelings for each other, and things become complicated. But who says you can't mix business with a little pleasure?

Ms. Haynes writes another amazing book. FAIR GAME kept me on the edge of my seat and had me begging for more. Josie and Kyle had it all... they were both realistic and very relatable. Josie was a confident, beautiful young woman and Kyle was assertive and super hot... making for great, strong characters. The sexual encounters were mind-blowing and literally scorched the pages. FAIR GAME is one sexy erotic romance novel. I would recommend FAIR GAME to anyone. I am a big fan of Jasmine Haynes and she did not disappoint with FAIR GAME. If you are new to erotic romances, this is an excellent first choice.

Josie Tybrook does not do relationships. She uses men like they use women, for sex only and she is always in control.
Running late for a business meeting she enters an elevator and is thrown against Kyle Perry. She notices that he is turned on and starts to fondle him. When she realizes that Kyle is the person she has the meeting with she is horrified.
Kyle wants Josie and propositions her. At first Josie turns him down since they will be working together. Kyle is very persuasive and they end up in a in a sexual game. Each time they meet for sex one of them is in charge . The sex games are steamy and kinky. Kyle wants a relationship but Josie fights him every step of the way. She feels her career is more important then sex and a battle of wills ensues as she trying to push Kyle away.
This book had great character development , nice plot and very erotic sex scenes.

I liked the sex games that Kyle and Josie played, however, her constant need for control, to have the better hand ALL the time, drove me up the wall. Sure the sex was more than steamy--and a lot of fun--and I liked Kyle's perspective and his total enjoyment in the acts. Josie just turned me off. The ending was rushed and Josie's about face at the end didn't quite hit believability. If it wasn't for her irritating control issue, I would have given this story a higher rating. 3.2 stars.

Kyle and Josie's first encounter showed promise and I enjoyed their initial games (the lingerie store in particular) but then things changed.

I found that I simply couldn't relate to Josie. Yeah she got screwed over by someone in college but things were never really explained and I didn't understand her motivations. I liked Kyle who was really interested in Josie and yet she kept pushing him away.

All in all, I simply didn't get it.

This was the very first erotica books I EVER read. It got me hooked in reading and reading romance and erotica. Although the erotica books are fast and dirty, I prefer romance which THIS book has (even though there is a lot of erotica too).

Right on the border between a three and four. Sex scenes are hot but the heroine's attitude eventually grated on me.

I don't really like Josie. She's so cold. Kyle only wants to love and care for her, but she refusing to let him. Not all guys are going to be like your dick headed college professor.
