ABOUT THE AUTHOR
GL Robinson is the godchild of Georgette Heyer. She writes Regency Romances in a very proper English style with a good dash of humor. As the product of a convent boarding school in the south of England in the 1950's and early 60's, she has a very proper English style herself, which you will be able to tell if you listen to the recordings of the first chapters of her novels on her website: https://romancenovelsbyglrobinson.com, where you can also sign up for a free short story.

She met her American husband in Brussels where she was working at the time the UK joined the European Union (or Common Market, as it was then called). After retiring from a career as a French professor in upstate New York, she happily swapped Existentialism for Romance and since 2018 has written 11 Regency novels. They all feature feisty heroines against a real historical background. She has also begun a contemporary crime trilogy featuring hunky ex-special forces Miles O'Malley. She's in love with him, but don't tell her husband!

The Earl + the Mud Covered Maiden bk #1, 4 stars
The Earl + His Lady, bk #2, 3 stars
The Earl + the Heir, bk #3, 2.5 stars (rounded up)

Lysander "Sandy" (an earl)+ wife Sophy (a country
squire's dtr) wed & begot a mostly sweet, inquisitive
3 yr old son Sylvester.

Lysander was a ladies man in the past, mostly having
liaisons with widows & unhappily married ladies.
Sophy seemed preoccupied with Ly's past in book #2
& book #3. She did not strike me as totally insecure or
gossipy in book #1. Her preoccupation reduced time
spent w/ her spouse and son.

Lysander needed to reinforce w/ Sophy that he cherished
making love w/ her and he needed no woman but her.
But a woman from his past tried to sabotage the close-
ness of the MCs. Why did the author dwell on this woman?
The author had good characters and pacing but readers
could've done without the repetition & Sophy's insecurity.
The conflict: contrived and unnecessary?

Now parents, life goes on as the many challenges crossing their path ...

While I am sad to tell Sophia and Lysander goodbye, they are reached their full circle and it is time to let them live their happily ever after quietly all by themselves.
Each new book in this trilogy is getting better than the previous one.
After the drama following their nuptials then the issues at the beginning of their union, now it was good to see them installed in their marriage, dealing with parenthood and a very lively little boy.
I’m still in love with Lysander and his dry humor, his quick wit and his seductive banter with Sophy. And when his temper sometime takes the better of him, he is also able to see to his faults.
He is also a great father, able to assay the right dose of freedom and learning to guid his son on the right path. For a peer, he uses his heart to weight the character of the persons surrounding him and his dearest.
Sophy, now accepted as the very peculiar countess of Hale, at time, still struggle to hold back her meddling mind. And while she challenges Lysander on many ways, her curiosity could have cost her a much higher price she might expected not by her fault but because it awakened ill advised jealousy. Yet, she also faces her failings and assures to correct them.

I am not sure I liked Sophy’s inquisitive inquiry.
My first thought was why not let the dust rest. It was like shaking the covers protecting forgotten furnitures, it makes one’s sneeze. But while it was unwise, she only wanted to know more about the man her husband was.
And despite the result, they emerge stronger from this new challenge.

And Sylvester is a bubble of condensed light, he brightens the world with his tiny heart and gentle soul.

In my opinion, any novel in the House of Hale series could easily be a fairly successful standalone novel, but all 3 stories together add up to equal a wholesome, heartwarming timeline of growth. I enjoy the accuracy of the fashions and etiquette that G.L. Robinson always includes in her novels, as well as the depiction of relationships that are not always picture perfect. I thought her writing of Sylvester's baby speech was fairly accurate without being excessive. I gave this book 4/5 stars because of a few small grammatical errors that I found in my ARC as well as me simply being annoyed at Sophy for being so nosy. I very much enjoyed being able to escape into the tale Robinson spun, and it was an entertaining read. Well done!

Thank you to BookSirens, the publisher, and author for sending me a free ARC of this novel. This has not influenced my review, which I am leaving here voluntarily.

A delightful trilogy

Robinson has the gift of creating such engaging characters that we become invested in their journey. She writes extremely well and it was a real pleasure to follow this couple through the courtship, marriage and the beginning of their family. Plot points as such that could happen to any family, accidents, mistakes, character flaws, and so create a sense of real people in a real relationship. And the “Heir” breathes life every time he appears. It’s one of those series where you feel disappointed when it finishes, because you’re going to miss people have become friends.

This is the third book in the Hail HouseTrilogy and in this book we find the happy couple with their precocious three-year-old son Sylvester. In this book we find Sophie feeling insecure, Which is only natural for some women after having a baby and it’s especially natural when your husband is so good looking and he has a reputation for loving the ladies. Which is the case with Sophie and Xander and it causes Sophie not only to ask for reassurances from the Earl, but tries to find out fact from fiction and her husband’s past. This was an awesome book I loved it I especially love the parts of the book with Sylvester in them. I have read many books with children in them and as I must use screen reader to read it to me because I am blind this was the first book that the cuteness and sweetness that was the best or popped off the page for me. I love Miss Robinson‘s writings and have read most of her books so far and it still journeying through them. This is a great book and can be read as a standalone and not necessarily in the trilogy. I highly recommend this to those who love regency and historical romance. She especially gets the time and place in which it is said with no contemporary overtones which is a pet peeve of mine and historical books. When people have 21st-century opinions in the 1800s they might as well be time travelers, but not the problem in Mrs. Robinson‘s books she is an awesome writer and totally gets the hours she is riding in. So if you love Regency in historical romance read this book! I was given this book from Books sirens and I’m totally leaving this review voluntarily because I love the book that much!

I listened to the Kindle- assisted-reader version of this title on my Alexa device. Not just because this is a Kindle Unlimited version and there wasn’t an audiobook version of it, but also because having tested the palatability of using this medium with the previous books, it was fantastic! Far, far better than the audiobooks by this author, as she reads them herself - she has an awful voice for narration: old and raspy with no talent for performance. She didn’t do her written talent ANY FAVOURS! I am pleasantly surprised by the rendition by Alexa, noticeably superior to the audiobooks I had listened to of hers. (The Earl and the Bluestocking. A Marriage is Arranged - don’t purchase these as audiobooks, listen to the previews first).

As for the story, it’s a continuation of The Earl and His Lady, they now have a son and heir, Sylvester. He’s only three years old and spoilt by Mum and trying to be disciplined by Dad, who also wants him to be a “regular” child and get dirty if he has to - which he does! All of the time - and when the narrative is circled on him, it’s very entertaining and engaging. Sylvester is an adorable scamp!

However, Sophy is starting to get annoying! As a character, I preferred her in book 1, towards the end of book 2 she was getting irritating and by book 3, there’s just no understanding her! But that’s just my take on it.

As a whole, the series was good and Mrs Robinson writes easy reading tales.

Highly Recommended!
You know you have just read a great story by a really good author if it is about a young child and it keeps an adult interested and well entertained.
I love the emotions of this little heir, so uninhibited as is with any child of that age, while he learns and experiences all that he possibly can. His speech is very true to one learning the way to communicate and was just too cute for words.
In this story, the third in the series, the Earl and his young bride are raising their young son while trying to find 'alone-time' for themselves without his intrusion at all hours and this is proving to be quite a task!
Nevertheless, this is a very close family and the love and respect they have for each other is quite remarkable.
I absolutely couldn't get enough of this tale. It held me so totally in its grip and I simply wished it would go in forever.
Most definitely a huge "recommended!"
I read an Advance Reader Copy (ARC) of the ebook and my voluntary review is unbiased.

A Sweet and Satisfying Conclusion to the Hale Trilogy

The Earl and the Heir picks up four years into Lysander and Sophy's marriage. Their life together is full and busy, and with their rambunctious three year old son Sylvester they are perpetually kept on their toes. As with any marriage, this loving couple still have disagreements followed by implied passionate reunions. And as with societal peers, they also must address both public and private issues that create a few interesting sub-plots.

As it sedately meanders through London and the earl's country seat, this sweet novel by GL Robinson is all about the characters – their love for each other and their son, as well as for all those who are family, friends and employees.

All in all this is mostly a clean read that I enjoyed and that I recommend.

Content 411: In addition to a moderate amount of light swearing, there are scenes of kissing and implied intimacies.

Disclosure: I received this book for free from BookSirens. I am voluntarily reviewing this book, and this is my honest review.

This book left me feeling cozy. It tied up loose ends from the 2 previous books in the series, showing how the original couple, Lysander and Sophy, cope with parenting their young son. Other characters reappear and play their parts. There are brief problems that are resolved reasonably. What a nice world they live in. It is good to have these bits of fancy to ease us through the realities of modern times. We all know that life was very hard for many in the Regency era, as it was for Sophy's family when we met them in the first book of the series. Sophy continues to be rather outspoken--talking (almost) openly with her husband's former mistresses. But she does a lot of good even when she is interfering, which Lysander grows to appreciate. Once again, the sexual tension is high, but the graphic descriptions are very few.

This was a very tame book. My personal taste runs to the less tame. I would like to see the author take a try at the more steamy and adventuresome!

I loved this story about Sylvester Harrington who will be the 6th Earl of Hale. Sylvester loves his Daddy so much. He loves to play and gets dirty a lot. His Daddy says it is good that a child (3 years old) plays and enjoys his childhood.

The Earl found a perfect person in Daisy to take care of the little boy's rearing. Sylvester and Daisy get along so well.

Sophy and Lysander have such a deep love for each other. This book is rated as a clean story, but there is a bit of sexual overtones.

Sophy is a great wife to Lysander - she is so level headed and wise even though she was brought up in the country and wasn't knowledgeable about the nobility.

The author was very descriptive about the area and also knew a lot about architecture of that time period. She must have done a lot of research.

I loved the ending of this book and am glad to have read about the family life of the 5th Earl of Hale.

I think this is my favorite of all of the GL Robinson Regency Romances I’ve read – and I think beleive I have read and enjoyed almost all of them now. It is the third of the trilogy about the Earl of Hale and his Countess. As the author says, most Regency Romances end with the wedding. She wanted to continue the story to include a couple adjusting to marriage (The Earl and His Lady) and also dealing with child-raising. Sylvester, the three-year-old heir, is adorable, precocious, and a magnet for dirt. How to raise him to be polite and honorable and ready to be an Earl someday, without crushing his spirit? Many parents not raising a future Earl can relate to the challenge" There are adventures along the way, some especially hard on the parents. As a linguist I enjoyed "Vester's " language development during the course of the book When I finish a story and want to go back and read it again right away, it’s a winner.

I was disappointed with this book. I enjoyed the first one, and the second one a bit less and this one I liked the least. Thea part about the heir, the little boy, was fun, but the majority of the book really wasn't about him. Just like the first, there really isn't much of a plot in this story. The relationship between the earl and his wife has gotten a bit tedious, as he still forbids her to do things and she continues to do what she wants. What I didn't like was all the sexual references. Even though really aren't sex scenes, I didn't care for her interest in her husband's sexual encounters with other women and how that was so acceptable to her. She didn't think her husband had done anything wrong when he had sex with a married woman. I don't care if it was a common thing in those days, it was and is wrong.

The third book in the Hale story, and again well written by this great author. This deals with Lysander and Sophy and how they are managing with their very boisterous son, the heir! He certainly does intrude into their time causing frustrations. Sophy continues to be curious about Lysander's flings before they met, and Virginie once again raises her spiteful head, creating a difficult situation. As said third book in the series. For me it is not quite 5 stars, but a definite 4.5 stars, and still very much worth reading. I think you could read this as a standalone, but they make much more sense if read in order.
I was lucky enough to receive an advance copy, but this is a genuine and honest review.

Sylvester👨and His Father🐺

ADULT Historical Regency Romance 💕and Adventure.

This book could be read as a stand alone, but is best read in order, because the first book details the meeting of Sophy💃💋 and Lysander🐺🍆⛲💪🔪, the Earl of Hale.

Most of this book is about Sylvester👨, the Earl's first son and heir, and his growing up and bring taught the social manners he will need someday.

There is also a lot about Sophy💃💋, and her efforts to discover the names of most of Lysander's🐺🍆⛲💪🔪 previous ADULT liaisons he had in his past life as a voracious Rake. To what purpose?

ARC Provided by Book 📚 Sirens💃
I also got this ebook with KU.

I liked the book. It's cohesive and well written, and very different than most historical romances.

This is the third installment in the House of Hale series. A lovely addition to the series along with a gorgeous cover as well! While you can certainly read this as a standalone, it is definitely more enjoyable if you read the prior books in order to get the whole picture. In this story, we see Sophy and The Earl now raising their three year old son who is full of energy and curiosity. The story does bring a bit of intrigue and drama as Sophy endeavors to learn more about her husband's past. Thw storyline was smooth and I enjoyed the twists that came along. It's an engaging and entertaining story and I enjoyed it very much. I would highly recommend!

This is the final book in the House of Hale series. Lysander and Sophy have been married a few years and now have a son, Sylvester. He's 3 years old and full of energy. Sophy gets curious about Lysander's past and starts asking questions to find out about his past lovers. As you would expect he is not happy about this. But Sophy is not a passive wife and this repeatedly causes trouble. One of my favorite things about this book is that you get to see a little bit more into the lives of some other characters. All in all I enjoyed this book and would have given it 5 stars if it wasn't for the totally unrealistic sex drive it gives to the main characters. 😆

I am thoroughly enjoying reading the books by this author, and this latest offering is by far my favourite so far! It reads a bit like an instalment in a family saga rather than just a romance, and has a number of smaller problems that get sorted as we go along, rather than the traditional one big one that takes the whole book to sort out. And all through it the enchanting Sylvester, three-year-old son and heir of the Earl in question, gambols his way with wonderful manners and a total lack of inhibition! I hope this book is the forerunner of a string of similar type of stories! I was sent an arc copy of this book and this review is my honest opinion.

The Earl and The Heir

Perfect. Perfect. Perfect. Ms Robinson put it altogether for this Reader. She is the perfect storyteller, with the perfect characters.. Including a child of 3 or so. I enjoyed the Earl having to make the public apology... I appreciate the way he did it, Gentleman that he is, taking responsibility for his actions, thus allowing the young woman to save face & had the means to make her husband to understand she had the means to make him miserable should she so desire, which she didn't.

Good Read. I do so appreciate the artistic talent Ms Robinson has in her writing skills & will be looking for more of her work.

Nothing special happened in this book… but the book was special nonetheless.

Lysander and Sophy are married, have a child and go about their lives with up and downs like a lot of married couples.

You can identify with them and have a good representation of aristocracy’s life back then.

I had come to love these characters and to know what happened in their lives but it is ok to stop here, the author was wise.

I recommend the whole series as a comfort read in the cold winter months as it is heartwarming.

The Earl, Lysander, and his wife Sophy deal with their son Sylvester in this wonderful chapter of the Hale family. The Earl must teach his young heir all about being a gentleman while his wife teaches him to be a little boy. Along the way they help family find love, learn about past lives, and learn about their love and acceptance for each other.

This is a period book that feels real in our time. The shenanigans Lady Hale does makes this a very enjoyable story. I highly recommend this for all, especially those who love romance.

A great book indeed. Wish the series would continue.

Absolutely enjoyed Lady and lord Hale and their son Silvester who is energetic and an adventurous small boy. Sophy herself developed into a good parent and lady of the house despite the challenges and mistrusts she developed along the way wanting to know all about her husband's past. And as the family continue to grow and so did their love and trust. A great book indeed

This is the last book in the House of Hale series. I have recently heard the trope referred to as "cozy" because it does not have some dark element. However, it has insight. The series is a continuous look at a romance between two unlikely people. The author explains--after the HEA. The dialogue is superb, especially the words of a three-year-old toddler. The entire three-volume series immerses you in a world of imperfect people whose decency overcomes stressful events.

Excellent!

The Earl and the Heir is , unfortunately, the third and last book of this series. It’s a lot more action/adventure than romance but I loved every second of it. I’ve become so familiar with the two main characters that I feel a little sad that their story has come to an end but that ending is very satisfying. Hopefully, the talented author, GL Robinson, will write another series about Lysander and Sophy’s grandchildren’s adventures.

I just adore the way G.L.Robinson spins her stories: her style his hard to describe, it is part classic and part modern. But why give it a label? Her books are just a great read! Highly enjoyable!

Highly unlikely in many social respects but more so highly enjoyable ! Following Lysander and Sophie into married life and parenthood this is a fun read as they love, argue, make up and rise to the parenting challenges presented by young Alexander. It really does have an idiosyncratic charm that won me over.

A great ending to this series. From the wonderful cover to the end of the book Sylvester steals the show. What a loveable little boy he is and although the book is mainly about him there is many other things happening with Sophy & Lysander and the upper society that they socialise with. An easy interesting read.

I yiked this book quite a bit. Meeting the rambunctious young Sylvester was a joy. Children always bring a lightness to the world. The Hale family continues to have problems as they micromanage each others lives. Never has my husband "forbidden" me from saying or doing something. Then again, forbidding Sophy never really worked either.

Cinderella and the Prince

Another great story. Your characters are so real. So well portrayed. Every minor character is so interesting. From the butler to the sweep boy. They are 3 dimensional characters. Strong unique women from unusual backgrounds and circumstances and wonderful rich upper class men who are rakes of good character and kindness and immense love.

well written and fast paced. Not exactly what I read regencies for, but it was interesting to read about gypsies and animals. As a divorced person I know enough about misunderstandings between spouses, but it seemed realistic. I found Lysander pleasingly erudite but a little bossy. I'd like to read a story about Margaret. Maybe she could be a sapphist and a bluestocking!
