For the nineteen-year-old Annie Cummings marriage is out of the question until she comes to realize that her parents have other plans for her. Just a week after her meeting with the local matchmaker, Annie is on a train riding across the country to meet her future husband, sight unseen. Unfortunately, when she arrives, Annie isn't met by the kind farmer she'd been expecting but by the brooding and rough former bounty hunter, Josiah. Although a bit overwhelmed at first, Annie feels the spark between them and decides to embrace the unknown. But is she truly ready to let go of the life she knew for a love she never thought she'd find?

Bounty hunter Josiah Bright has been on the road for as long as he can remember. When he stumbles upon a young, orphaned girl, though, his life will change forever. Determined to find out what happened to the girl's mother, Josiah decides to stay in town for a while, helping the local sheriff get to the bottom of the case. As the days turn to weeks, it seems like he's going to be spending more time in Jackson than he'd originally intended. With a new house, a new job, and a daughter, there's only one thing he is missing; a wife. The empty place in his heart will be filled by the kind and sweet Annie, who will instantly diminish all of his concerns and brighten his days. Can he soften his sharp edges, giving love a chance before it is lost once and for all?

Neither Josiah nor Annie are sure that they will warm up to each other at first. However, with a young girl to care for and a house to run, the ice is quickly broken. Both are thrown into a way of life they had never dreamed of, but without even realizing it, they will soon get lost in unique, unexpected emotions. When a new threat appears, will the couple be strong enough to stay true to their new feelings?

"United Under the Western Sky" is a historical romance novel of approximately 60,000 words. No cheating, no cliffhangers, and a guaranteed happily ever after.

Alright my fellow GR readers, I have a problem. I'm addicted to the mail order bride trope.
Yeah, I have no idea why. I'm thinking that b/c I'm shy, I would have been one of those if I was alive back then. Or it could be that when I'm overstressed/overly tired/or in a slump, I just need that dose of cornball to get me over the hump.

This was a new writer to me and it was ok. Yes, it was corny but it fit my mood.
The characters & story were pleasant. A quick & easy read.
I'd probably read another book by this writer.

FYI: while it was a "clean" romance (ie. no sex scenes, maybe a kiss or 2), it wasn't a "christian" one (ie. religious overtones, multiple mentions of God & prayer).

🗡️🗡️ONE WILD WEST SMACKDOWN🗡️🗡️
Excellent! Grace delivers with this tantalizing wonder, serving up some brutal facts, ruthless decisions and harrowing lessons, keeping you riveted on a razors edge, catapulting this jewel to staggering heights. Anarchy and treachery abound as mishaps and serendipity rules the roost as arduous struggles and rousing triumphs showcase the clever twists and deft turns abound, crashing lines and scattering limitations, boundaries are exploited and expanded, blowing this gem into the eye of the storm, booting it into a tailspin with an astonishing realization. Fling in captivating drama, perilous intrigue, cunning treachery, cruel circumstances, escalating danger, swirling suspense and unveiling revelations ensue in epic proportions, bursting this baby to life brilliantly. The attraction and chemistry builds as each layer is peeled back baring incredibly deep emotions and an intense bond, binding them to one another beautifully. The characters, dialogue, interactions and electrified atmosphere along with relatable qualities and individual traits adding depth and diversity, transforming into genuine outstanding personalities. The scenes are abundantly descriptive with colorful details that blend and flow, creating a majestic backdrop that's so rich and lively it feels like you can just reach out and touch it. Remarkable job Grace, thanks for sharing this little jewel with us.

Grace Clemens has really sparked my interest with this book.
It was one of those all night reads.... 💜

Josiah Bright is a successful bounty hunter, however it was not a young girl in her nightie he was hunting that night in the wild.
Annie arrives in town as a mail order bride, however the groom has married another.

Annie and Josiah decide to see if they could make a happily married couple.
It certainly took some organizing, and developing feelings between the two of them.

Murder, mayhem, runaway groom, orphaned child, there is a lot happening in this book
I really enjoyed the authors writing and the characters development,.

Grace has written a delightful authors introduction blurb.
Please do read it for more information.

I would recommend it as a read to you.

A lovely mail-order bride western.
A lovely mail-order bride western that you will enjoy reading I know I did. Annie’s family has plans for her future and before she even knows it she is off to Jackson to meet her future husband a man completely unknown to her. Now she is expecting a simple farmer but instead finds Josiah. He is anything but simple or a farmer he is an ex bounty hunter. Fate changed Josiah's life when he found a young child. With the question of what happened to the girl’s mother Josiah takes on the responsibility of raising the girl but now she will need a mother. Right from the start, there is a major twist and the bumps continue through the piece. I liked the characters and the growth between Annie and Josiah. There is romance but there is also danger and threats to their happiness. I am happy to recommend this book I enjoyed it a great deal.

She ends up going on a mail order bride situation thanks to her father. The man she is supposed to marry got married to another. She ends up with an ex bounty hunter who needs a wife because of his young girl. But she has to accept him and he has to soften up so the attraction between them can grow. Love, excitement, danger, emotions and much more. I received a review copy and voluntarily review it.

Inspirational historical romance

The overall story was really enjoyable. One error you have is when you say she wrote to Josiah as her mail order bride. She wrote to Christopher, I think was his name. But he married before she arrived.. And then they matched her with Josiah. Also, her response to her husband when she thought her husband didn't care about them losing Sarah was so overboard in unrealistic to me.

Wonderful Romantic Story with a Mysterious Twist

I’ve read several stores of “mail order brides”, but this one also included an unusual ready-made family, along with a murder mystery, which made this a very enjoyable story. Or was a well written book, that kept my attention throughout the story. I’ll be looking for more of Grace Clemens books.

I truly enjoyed reading about Annie and Josiah. Annie coming to marry one man then marries another and Josiah trying to find a mother for his orphaned daughter. They all find love after several problems arise. Read all about Annie and Josiah’s adventure.

A page turner from the beginning, this story kept my attention from start to finish and I was sad when it ended, because I wanted it to continue.

The characters were believable, and the humor and conflicts keep the interest perked.

sweet story

Annie and Josiah are from very different backgrounds. Sarah is orphaned and found by Josiah. Bringing the three together takes the original man who mail ordered Annie reneging on the deal and Annie agreeing to marry Josiah instead. How it all works out is well done.

What a scary time it must have been for poor women during that time frame! No one or place to turn to. At least now days there some options.

Great story!

I liked the characters and the descriptions of them. It did seem a bit unreal how quickly the bounty hunter who was always moving on, settled down, bought a house, took in an orphaned little girl. However, love can change the heart and alter the lifestyle rather quickly. I recommend this book!

Really enjoyed the book; however, it really needs a better editor. Conflicting information throughout the book. Snickered when I read their initial wedding vows.

I really enjoyed this book. It is well written and a very sweet, clean romance story. I wanted to keep reading it. It does have a tragedy but it isn't very graphic in the description of the violence. It is a quick easy enjoyable read.
