Life is predictable for Beth Carmichael. When she’s not caring for patients in the cardiac ICU, she’s avoiding the heaps of leaves in her yard. When a beautiful woman with three young daughters moves into the house next door, Beth’s routine existence takes an unpredictable turn.
Bridget Dobbins spends her days teaching online classes, researching family histories, and corralling three little girls. When her Aunt Martha’s home becomes available in the seaside town of Mystic, Connecticut, Bridget is compelled to make it her home. A glimpse of her new neighbor is all the confirmation she needs that Mystic is where she’s meant to live.
On a chilly October afternoon, Bridget offers Beth a pie, and a neighborly greeting. A few shared apple pies, a mutual affinity for witches and wizards, and a collision of the past and present lead Beth and Bridget on a magical journey through friendship and romance. What is magic? If you ask Bridget Dobbins, she’ll tell you it all begins with Three Little Spells.
Three Little Spells is a short romantic story with a dash of Halloween flair. Gather your witches, wizards, ghosts, goblins, spells, and curses and fall in love this Halloween.
3 stars. This was an okay read, but I didn’t love it as much as some of Armstrongs earlier books. Though magic was given as the reason for the quick development of the love story it developed too fast for me and the base was too thin.
This was a cute short story that was easy to read. It’s a pity that the author didn’t think it was worth more than a short story, as I felt the characters certainly merited more.
Heartwarming, intriguing and sweet, a short, light reading you're gonna enjoy. Three little spells is what we need in our lives to make it better and magical.
This is a fun, quick read with a bit of seasonal magic. The novella format prevents too much character development but Beth and Bridget make a nice pair.
Lots of authors have a mystical understanding of confluence; the perfect coming together of people and events, the convergence of influences. It's often a problem to be persuasive, with words and print, especially when your reader is somebody with a "just the facts, ma'am," attitude to the story. In many ways, I think the author found a nice balance between the spiritualism of Bridget, and the pragmatism and sensitivity of Beth. On top of everything, Laura's (Bridget's mothers) angle, and her voice, confused me so much that I decided to ignore what she was saying, at which point I was happy! My apologies to the author.
Bridget was saved by Beth from a fire many years ago. Present day and Bridget sees Beth again. Is it ordained or did a certain curse reverse itself? Only with talking with her Mom does Bridget fully understand why she bought the house across the street from Beth. It doesn't help that Bridget's three adopted children realizes that something is going on with their mom and Beth! Enjoy!
Magic is something we all create, if only we see it.
Beth and Bridget have a connection they don't remember until Bridget moves next door. A little Halloween magic, a history full of curses and love make this story delightfully fun to read. A short gift to remind us magic is all around if we "learn to listen".
This was an excellent short story by one of my favorite authors. I have to agree that magic boils down to 3 spells; learn, listen, and love. This book belongs on every lesfic fan's list read list!
It was short, sweet and magic. Beth meets her new neighbor Bridget, a mom of 3, and with a little (not true) push, their friendship starts to develop into something else.
Great halloween story, even though it's closer to thanksgiving, still give it a try.
This was absolutely a perfect story! It’s amazing how a little magic can take you on a journey! Read on about Beth and Bridget and of course, a little magic! A breath of fresh fall air!
Great read, as usual JA did not disappoint. Left me wanting to read more. Looking for quick read you're definitely picking the right story. It's sweet and magical.
It’s a short story but it’s quite poorly written that I couldn’t bring myself to finish it. The conversations and the way their feelings are described are so unnatural and off.
I read this story from end to end all at once, what a great entanglement between Halloween and witches, with a little lesbian romance all put together.I loved the way this author writes, I would recommend this book to friends.
4 stars. Super sweet and adorable. My only gripe is that I wish the two main characters didn’t have the same initials. Beth and Bridget, I kept getting confused about who was who. Still really enjoyed it though. It’s a precious novella with a fun cast of characters.
Another fantastic story ,only a short this time but it's the perfect Halloween love story.A bit of magic an old family secret and all set around Salem what's not to love.
A woman and her three daughters move next door to an emergency room nurse and she had a feeling she new her. They meet and slowly fall in love. Great story
This was a cute fun short story. It takes place around Halloween so there many scenes with fall activities, including costumes and magic. The blurb sums up the story well.
