Excerpt Joshua chapters one and two https://www.goodreads.com/author_blog...

Bella had watched her friends find the men of their dreams, while she'd wasted the last year with a man that had barely touched her. After meeting the mysterious business man, Joshua, she was hopeful he’d add some passion to her life. Only he kept leaving town, and had his longtime friend, Ava, house sit for him. What was up with that?
Joshua was finishing up a two-year expat assignment overseas and couldn’t wait to get back home to the USA for good. Especially after meeting the sexy Italian beauty, Bella, who he hoped would still be single when he got back to Michigan.
Ava had other plans in mind for Josh, and they didn’t include Bella.
Joshua is the fifth novel in the Risking Love series. The stories chart a group of friends through life and love. These steamy stories will have you laughing, crying, and your heart racing.

Fall fast who should she choose

When Bella was attracted to two men how could she choose? MARCUS the sexy as sin Restaurant owner, or Joshua the Cowboy from Ky that travelled a lot. Her heart wanted Josh but could she have him, when there was another woman involved or was there? You will enjoy reading this series and will Bella finally get her happy ever after.

‘Joshua’ is book five in Callie Carmen’s ‘Risking Love’ series.

Set mostly in a secluded mountainside getaway, this story has a distinctly different feel from earlier works such as ‘Patrick’ and ‘Anthony’. While most of Callie’s stories are set in the asphalt jungles of suburbia and urbania, this story has a much more rural feel to it. You can almost hear the birds singing as you read, and the lush setting comes alive as the story slowly plays itself out.

Bella is a feisty woman of Italian ancestry, and Joshua is a down-home boy from Kentucky. In some sense they’re polar opposites, two people from two different worlds trying to find common ground… and love.

If only Ava weren’t standing between them, ever conniving and manipulative…

‘Joshua’ continues Callie Carmen’s tradition of complex, often tense character interactions. She has stated in a number of interviews that there are autobiographical elements in her stories, and it shows. ‘Risking Love’ is a series with a lot of heart, and ‘Joshua’ is a solid addition to the saga.

Things are a bit grim right now in London. We’ve gone back into lockdown for 4 weeks, it’s raining, Christmas is still some weeks away… so I was in need of a story to lift my mood. This sparkly, sunny, tender, sensual romance hit all the right spots! Joshua likes Bella. Bella likes Joshua. They’re fooling around and falling in love… but every time they try to be together for good, something happens to separate them. Boy scouts, nosy neighbours, bats… then things take a more serious turn when Joshua’s Dad has a heart attack and he has to rush back to the family ranch. He takes Bella along… but his childhood friend Ava is here and she’s in love with him… It will take more than a kiss to overcome this challenge!
I’ve enjoyed every book of the Risking Love series, and this is another beautifully written story. Fiery, passionate Bella and loyal, sexy Joshua make a great couple who thoroughly deserve their happy ending when it finally comes. I believe Ava will feature in another story by Callie Carmen, to be included in the Cowboy Desires anthology next February. I can’t wait to read it, as Ava deserves to have fun too. And I feel a bit sorry for poor Olivia, the last single girl in the series. I hope she too meets her Mr. Right soon in another cracking story by Callie Carmen!

A worthy addition to the great Risking Love series!

Bella is a warm and passionate woman of Italian heritage. She can go from 0 to 100 is a matter of seconds. Joshua designs cars that do that, but he’s at a loss on how to please—or anticipate the feelings—of a woman who’s quick to irritate but also quick to laugh and live and love. Add to the trouble, a father who expects Josh to take over their successful horse farm and a horse fam neighbor who has been in love with Josh since they were children. Bella has someone interested in her, too. She’s spent the previous year waiting for a love interest to show her that he loved her, and unfortunately when he made his feelings known it was for someone else. Now she wants a man to love her with passion. She has two choices. Will Joshua figure out what it takes to win Bella’s heart in time for her to choose him?

This is book 5 of the Risking Love series, and Joshua is every bit as great as the others! Ms. Carmen knows how to make her characters shine and Bella certainly does that. Joshua is perfect as the guy who wants to do right by Bella but just doesn’t quite know how to do it. Until he does. Recommended!
