It's all merry and bright, unless you're the janitor. Triana Moore doesn't hate Christmas, but tinsel tidying is terrible. When her bots stop vacuuming, Triana must find out why. Like Santa up a chimney, she zips to the upper levels of the space station to apprehend the a mystery man with a magnetic personality confusing the computers. He can't remember his own name, but he can access the most secure areas of the station with a smile, and not leave a trace. To save Christmas, and the board of directors' all-important holiday party, Triana must enlist all her friends--and a few enemies. When they look in their stockings on Christmas morning, who will find candy and who will find coal? The Trouble with Tinsel is a novella in the Space Janitor series. It's a stand-alone Christmas story, but makes the most sense if read after book 2, The Dust of Kaku
Author of the Colonial Exploration Corps, Space Janitor, Recycled World, and Krimson Empire series.
I grew up in the US Pacific Northwest, and after twenty years roaming the country with the US Air Force, I'm back. I have a spouse, three kids, and a dog named Pippin.
I've been an IT guy, a choir director, an executive assistant, a stay-at-home mom, a college instructor, and that lady at the information booth in a tourist town. But writer is the best job ever, because I get to make stuff up. Stuff I wish were true; stuff I'm glad isn't true.
When I'm not writing, I like to knit, read, bake, and ski. I also love to travel.
I went into this absolutely blind, and got a fantastic surprise! I haven't read anything in the series, or even by the author before, but how could I resist to try a book that has: ✓ Christmas ✓ SciFi ✓ A female space janitor
I was a bit wary it might be too romancy for me, but aside from a side comment here and there, or stating how good ac man looks, it's not like that at all.
Instead it's fun and a has a great dry humour. The tone just worked perfectly for me, so despite having seen the "twist" right from the start, this was a delightful quick and easy read.
I'll pick up the main series too, and hope it's on the same scale of humour and without pining! From a glimpse it sounds to be more body than this cute little story.
A cute Christmas story on Station Kelly-Kornienko. Bots and vids that simply stop working, then work again showing nothing wrong, and someone whose specialty is Christmas...
Ok, have to say that this was a fun one. I suspected the story line right away but love the way Ms. Huni ran with it. Lol, while she's had characters from Putin, Zuckerburg, Bezo, and Morgan families I love the use of Scott Calvin! Honestly made this a scream. If there was any issue with it is Scott didn't "adjust" as fast as he did earlier (not a total give away, you need to do a little work here). I am a little disappointed that Ty isn't in the story that much and the Triana/Annabelle is spending more time with her mom (after claiming she wants to be away from mom and her influence/power she seems to spend a little bit of time doing what mom wants. Oh well, it's going to change sooner rather than later). With my slight negative said the only thing I'll say is this is a fun little story. Triana is puzzled where others accept and believe which is very interesting given that the Ice Dame is one of those who believes. Merge this with Triana trying to help Scott and solve the issue of what to get Ty for Christmas and you honestly have a fun little story that's worth the read if if you're samling Ms. Huni's work.
Awesome. Loved it. She's back in all her glory - hacking into systems, helping where she can and getting ready for Christmas. When her bots go down, she goes along to see why. Drunken parties, tinsel everywhere and a man sitting cross-legged. When questioned he has no idea of his name and systems don't seem to register his presence. Minor upsets re Christmas don't faze him and all her searches into his identity seem to have hit a brick wall. But his ability to get rid of major and minor snags re Christmas start to be legendary. Add in a present for Ty, a small woman, a rapidly growing beard and a bright red ship. Who is he and what presents has he left?
A terrific series! This was a little more light-hearted than the others. There's a bit of a mystery on the space station Kelly-Kornienko just before Christmas and Triana is again in the middle of it, having found a young man who doesn't know where he is but is willing to be quite helpful. About halfway through you might think you have solved the mystery, but keep reading - there are enough twists and turns to keep you turning pages and of course (this being snarky Triana and her friends) amused. A heartwarming story for the holiday season (Christmas or otherwise).
This book is a novella that takes place in the middle of the Triana Moore Space Janitor series. It's a Christmas story set on the space station that Triana Moore works on as a janitor. It reminds me a lot of a Christmas story by Connie Willis called "The Ghost of Christmas Present". One of Triana's cleaning robots breaks down and she finds a confused and nameless young man in the cleaning corridors. Everyone seems to like him and all doors and things open for him even though he doesn't show up in any of the stations computers. It was a fun read.
Cute story about Christmas, a sexy Santa Claus song and a guy missing his memory that seems to be known by everyone yet unknown as to why. Tinsel is the bane of Janitors and maintenance workers so what's a Janitor to do? Especially when video surveillance goes down for no apparent reason.
This was a cute holiday story with our favorite characters and a Christmas party with beef.
4 1/2 because holiday stories are hard to find that don't do something wrong.
I got this as a holiday freebie from the author. It was a fun way to introduce me to this new author. I truly enjoyed the characters, the space theme and the quirky universe created by Ms Huni. A treat to read for Christmas and with happy resolutions. Thanks dear author, I will be reading more of your books.
*No Spoilers*. This is a Christmas novella with the same main characters from the first two books. It’s a standalone novel but is better understood if the first 2 books have been read (or at least the one of them). No dire mystery’s to solve in this one, just a Christmas one. Enjoyable!
Who’d a thunk it? This poor super hot tall blonde gentle man with amnesia surprises Tirana in one of her robot conduits close to Christmas? Like I said Who’d a thunk it?
A fun Christmas novella - once I worked out where it was going it was just sit back and what this otherwise murder and crime ridden universe do a sweet Christmas tale for eighty pages.
A fun laugh-out-loud Christmas read, even if you don't believe In Santa after reading this you might very well change your mind, don't miss this one, Baz.
