Dance instructor, Aubrielle Carson had her heart broken more times than she could count. Until she met the one. He was all she dreamed of at first, but with time and attention, she found he was just as disastrous as the loves before him. Ending the relationship left her with a need for change and relocating to Washington D.C. was the new beginning she craved. However, her hungry heart refused to remain unfed.
Rashaad Hanes was finally living the life he earned. As a single father and co-owner of Roll Bounce Love, a new skating rink in town, he was confident, focused, and about his business. All of that was what he intended to bring to the table when he approached the woman he couldn’t take his eyes off of. Yet, despite all he came with, her guard was up.
Will Aubrielle give love another try? Is Rashaad forgetting to calculate his own flaws? When secrets and half-truths shake the ground, will these two lovers be able to roll with the punches and bounce back to love?
Welcome to Kay Shanee's Reading Korner Kay is forty something wife and mother, born and raised in the Midwest. During the day, she is a high school teacher. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Her favorite pastime is reading and writing romance novels about the dopeness of BLACK LOVE.
You gotta love a man who knows what he wants and Rashaad wanted him some Aubrielle. These two were such a cute couple with undeniable chemistry. They way they met was even cutier. Rashaad has just opened a skating rink with his siblings and he spots Aubrielle on the floor and it was all she wrote. She was his lobster and he need not look any further. If you watched Friends, you know what I did there. And, wouldn't you know it, their love of roller skating is something they have in common. Aubrielle and Rashaad really were meant to be together. They didn't let their past get in the way of their future. Rashaad's baby mama walked out on him and his daughter and Aubrielle caught her ex cheating multiple times before she finally walked away from their toxic relationship. Neither of those experiences left them jaded and they were more than willing to give love a try with each other. Although they moved quickly in their relationship, it was purposeful, organic, and believable. I love black love and it is front and center in this book. Roll Bounce Love was a great read. I can't wait to see what's in store for the other Hanes siblings.
Rashaad & Aubrielle had that kind of undeniable chemistry from the start. I loved the development of their story and the support that was also included in this story, that was really big for me. This really is a beautiful family story…I can’t wait to get to the next Hanes’ brother story.
Where do I even begin with this one? Aubrielle, the fictional character, is 100% a better woman than me. Although I absolutely enjoyed her story with Rashaad- but if they say how he’s honest and crazy intentional with his decisions one more time imma fight somebody. Maybe in business but personal? Let’s discuss this L O L
Zara is such a sweet character. Can’t wait to read about Keyla and Rashawn. I bet he’s gonna stress me out
This was a well rounded love story. I laughed with these characters, adored baby girl Zara, and envied the love Rashaad had for Aubrielle. It isn't often a man is able to fully articulate AND show his feelings through his actions. Rashaad was that dude. He had so much drama though. He was asking for a whole lot when Bri just had her caring parents to overcome. Just when you thought the story was too good to be true, real life drama would bring them right down to earth. Loved this unconventional love story. I will definitely check out more books from this author.
I really enjoyed this story. I though my guy Rashaad was going to be flawless, but alas, he was not. He was still book bae material and I believe he truly loved his Elle more than anything so he got a pass. This story was told beautifully. I laughed, I blushed, I swooned, and more. I look forward to reading more from this author's catalog. This was an incredibly sweet story.
I love a good insta love story and this one delivered.
Rashaad & Aubrielle's story was cute and sexy with just enough drama.
In the beginning I was a tad bit sympathetic to Rashaad's ex because from the beginning she didn't want to be a mother. And as someone who is child free my choice, it felt like she was guilted into keeping the pregnancy. But ya'll by the end I had to give that bitch up to Jesus because absolutely NOT.
I am so happy that I gave this author a 2nd chance.
The 'my seed count' was only two through the entire book. Judge me NOT friends, it's something about 'my seed' that makes me see red.
I should have known going by the cover that this will not be a good fit but did I listen to my spirit?? No. Ironically this book is all about listening to your spirit (insert the Viola Davis’s gif where she’s rolling her eyes and picks up her bag). Get this, the H’s gf says she doesn’t want kids but he manipulates her so she doesn’t have an abortion and makes her have the baby and then goes ahead to tell every who asks of her that she up and left one day because she didn’t want to be a mother. You manipulative bitch!! DNF.
Roll Bounce by Kay Shanee is about dance instructor Aubrielle Carson and roller rink owner Rashaad Hanes. Rashaad is a single father, his daughter Zara is 5 years old and let me tell you she has a big personality! Aubrielle moves to D.C. to begin a new chapter of her life. Aubrielle and her cousin Keyla go to a new roller rink Roll Bounce Love where she meets Rashaad. From the moment these two meet sparks fly. Rashaad falls for Aubrielle quickly and he makes it known he’s following his spirit. Rashaad is a super sweet guy and just when you think he’s too sweet that BDE makes itself known whew 🥵🤤 I love the family dynamics in the story, Rashaad’s relationship with his siblings and parents as well as Aubrielle’s relationship with her cousin and parents. I love the celebration of Black love both sets of parents have been married for 30+ years. I haven’t been roller skating since the pandemic began, this made me miss it! Just when everything is moving along smoothly something happens 😮 I didn’t see it coming, I was completely shocked! The epilogue is great ☺️🥰 Another great book by Kay Shanee! P.s. Rashawn and Keyla are a mess, but I’d like to see (read) it!
Aubrielle finally breaks up with her cheating boyfriend and relocates to DC wanting a change. Rasheed was a single father who just opened a skating rink with his siblings. Meeting each other, they felt a connection and decided to see where it would go. Getting to know each other by spending time together, Aubrielle still had her doubts. When a secret is revealed, Aubrielle is left with wondering if she can trust Rashaad. I loved this book. I'm such a sucka for a great story with a child and single parent and this was one. Zara was such a cute little girl and I loved how Aubrielle loved her. The chemistry between Rashaad and Aubrielle was crazy and I loved them together. This was a great read and I would love a story about Rashawn and Rasheeda.
Rashaad and Aubrielle: Let the Spirit Lead the Way!💛🤎
Let’s address the issue with Rashaad and his ex, Carmen first:
Rashaad was surprised and upset that Carmen walked away and signed over her parental rights. Even though he knew she was adamant about not wanting kids or marriage and should have run for the hills from the get-go.🙄However, we know that’s a fault Rashaad acknowledges and kicks himself for repeatedly. I know this is romancelandia, and we tend to get caught up in fantasy, suspend reality and what not, so without enough background info, I’m just merely guessing that these two were not exactly responsible with the use of birth control/contraceptives/condoms. But, of course, Rashaad would have never had such an adorable little girl, and…never mind. Now, a reviewer commented that they didn’t appreciate how everyone was harping on Carmen signing over her rights instead of giving her credit for knowing that motherhood wasn’t for her--I’m paraphrasing. I probably would have agreed IF Carmen had not waited until the child was 5 or 6 and old enough to know her mother. Why not walk away sooner? And let’s not forget about that little bomb she dropped on Rashaad and almost cost him his relationship Aubrielle. Not understanding the motive for her actions there; especially since she and Rashaad had no contact after their break up, and she could have easily done what she wanted to do the first time around.👀 No one would have been the wiser. I don’t mind conflicts that are strategically added in a couple’s story to make things interesting, but the motive should be clear. Like, make it make sense.
Now Aubrielle and Rashaad were an amazing and sexy couple. Right off the bat, Rashaad knew that Aubrielle was his soul mate because everything about her--her beauty, her funny & sweet nature, her kindness, her talents--aligned with his spirit. And if he learned one thing from dealing with his ex, it was never again to ignore when the spirit speaks from within. Aubrielle was a little hesitant, and rightfully so, but soon these two fell into a pattern of grown folk convo, sexy times, and skating rink fun! In addition to Aubrielle being a choreography/teacher/dancer, Rashaad had some dance skills of his own. That was sexy AF!🔥🔥
And how cute, sweet, yet perceptive was Rashaad’s daughter, Zara? I wanted to wrap her up in hugs and snuggles, and her relationship with Aubrielle was just absolutely adorable.
I loved how close Rashaad's family was, even though they came on a little too strong at times being all up in each other's business. I get his mom had reservations and was protecting her only grand baby, but Aubrielle held her own and respectively let Mama Hanes know what she was all about!👏🏾
Rashaad and Aubrielle had a few hiccups on their way to an HEA, but they made it!🙌🏿
What a feel good story! Rashaad and Aubrielle had such good chemistry, and connected on so many levels. Rashaad was so outspoken, but very forthcoming about what he wanted out of dating Aubrielle. She could not believe that she met a man, that was a great father, attentive to her and an all around great guy. Although they moved quickly in their relationship, it was purposeful. Rashaad knew that they were meant to be, and let his spirit lead him. That Zara been here before! That girl was full of sass, and spoke on things that a six year old should not be privy to. CARMEN! I just can't! Just throw her away! I mean like what the hell kind of woman is she? That epilogue tho'! I hollered!😂 I can officially add this couple to one of my favorites of this year! Great work! 👍👍👍 Now, you know we are going to beg for a story about Keyla and Rashawn right? 😁
Excellent storyline!!! I love how different this story was. The roller rink theme took me back to my childhood!!! Throw in a fine single dad and you can’t go wrong. I’m a fan of insta love light on the drama and this author served it up perfectly. Elle and Rashaad were meant to be and they had an instant connection with a small bump in the road to their HEA. Elle took on the challenge of being a mother figure and I had nothing but respect for her character!! Can’t to see what the author is cooking up next! Another 5 star read.
I LOVED Rashaad.....he was never scared to express his feelings and he adored his daughter. The love Aubrielle and Rashaad shared was undeniable and palpable. Zara was such a smart, talented and loving little girl. I felt bad for her because although I don’t agree with how Carmen left, I’ve come to realize more and more that some women just weren’t meant to be mother’s! I’m glad Zara had such an amazing father and support system. I need Rashawn and Keyla’s story next please.
This was such a good read! Love the magic between Rashaad and Aubrielle. I don't know what is up with Carmen...sigh...I hope this is a launch of a series because I want more of Rashawn and Keyla, let's not forget Rasheeda.
I don't go judging people for some of theit choices when I don't know the reason behind them but I can say Shawn stepped up when his baby mama dipped not once but twice and the best of all was having a family that has his back. New bussiness venture is going well and in comes in the new chapter in his life when he least expects it. I just loved how this book was about following your gut instinct, addressed learning from past mistakes and wasn't about 'praying' for some divine intervention. We're progressing.
This book is had be going from the start to finish and just in the right time with rollerskating being overly popular again in real life this drops. Loved it.
I loved it! It was a cute story! Rashaad was assertive and I loved that. Listening to his spirit led him to love! I'm a sucker for a single dad story and this was just perfect. Elle came from a messed up relationship bit didn't stop her from embracing Rashaad. And who dosen't an epilogue...I sure do!!! I will definitely reread! Great Job Kay!
Great read. I enjoy the characters (and now I want their spin off stories). The pacing and the flow of the story is great. The big curve and story bomb almost took me out!! As always, this author brings the steam and the spice and weaves it beautifully into the narrative!!
This was a great story. I loved all the characters and the storyline. It wasn't predictable which made it much more enjoyable. 4 stars due to the minor errors. Job well done.
I like how it was light even though it was some heavy moments in the book. That Zara mother was horrible. But I like how rashardd was as honest as he could without telling her mother didn't want her. Elle was a beautiful soul she handle the situation better than most people.
I loved the book Zara was a mess but it was cute, I wanted to slap Carmen like how can you leave not one but 2 children, just sad. Keyla and rashawn was a mess I wish they could have got it together
Roll Bounce Love - Elle & Rashaad is such a feel good story with a hint of messiness.
The sparks were flying as soon as Elle’s skates it the hardwood floor. Her aura is what guided Rashaad’s spirit her way. Now, Miss Zara has an old spirit within a young body. Miss Zara had me cracking up thought the entire read.
KARMA is going to boomerang Carmen & Nyah right upside their dam heads. I wish I could witness it.
This story brought back so many memories with all of the accurate references about DC. Kay Shanee you have capture the best of my home. Thank you..
Oooh don’t think I forgot about Keyla and Shawn. Now see they need their own book cause they both just wild out the mouth and NASTYYYYY. I’m just saying, I need to see how that’s going to play out.
I'm not sure how I feel about Carmen popping kids out and walking away. She's the definition of a deadbeat. Elle and Rashaad are cute together but him not be all the way honest had me side eyeing him. Her cousin and his brother needed to stop faking the fuck. I enjoyed this story.
Thank you again Kay Shanee for creating wonderful characters that make us want to fall in love. I really enjoyed this book, I really liked how Rashaad let his sprit guide him that was not only beautiful but sexy. This was another great ready by this author, I can't wait to see what's next.
