A must-have book for M.S. and Ph.D students
To know the journey from #mayank_mishra to Dottorato di ricerca #mayank_mishra
The author has given a deep insight into the life of a PhD student/ foreign student.
The book is kind of a diary about the life of Author Dr Mayank Mishra and his life in Italy as a 𝗣𝗵𝗗 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁. Why he chose 𝗜𝘁𝗮𝗹𝘆 for higher studies? Was life in Italy easy? Were people kind to him? What else he learnt being in Italy? everything is explained without making you feel bored.
It is an interesting read and also very informative. The best part is that author has mentioned the problems he faced in PhD along with being 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 about what problems he faced in academics. The author also mentioned a lot about his working schedule and about his research work.
Along with academics, he discussed 𝗜𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 and how it is different from Indian culture. You will get to know about Italian food, festivals and a lot more.
If you are planning for PhD or if you are doing PhD or you want to know about the life of a PhD student or you want to know about the life of a student in a foreign country where no one knows your language or English as well then it is a must-read for you.
A brilliant book by Dr. Mayank Mishra titled “The Diary of a PH.D Student-To be or not to be.
Here through this book the author shares a glimpse of his life in Italy during his years of gaining the PH.D degree. We often wonder in awe the management & the dedication that a person puts into while changing countries, adjusting with the foreign culture altogether. Passing flamboyantly through all the hurdles, whether academic, cultural diversities the person spends a wholesome years of his life that he would cherish for the rest of his lifetime.
This book by Mayank Mishra is a general tour, rather a sneak-peek into a PH.D Student’s life during his tenure of perusing it in Italy. This book is rhythmic by the flow it begins and ends, indeed a true mirror to readers of how tedious the PH.D life is ways behind the shimmering glitters of a foreign land. Usually cities in the foreign land in general are quiet, calm and soothing but this environment essentially depends people you’re surrounded by. I can really imagine the mess the author must have gone into when he shifted to his new flat during 2nd year in Italy. There’s a brilliant contrast made between Italy & India.
I really appreciate that the author took out time to bring out this beautiful book to life that stands as a go to self-help book for all the PH.D aspirants. It’s not that, the author’s path towards his destination was a bed of flowers but it wasn’t a waste either. It’s so naturally evident that not only he earned his PH.D but also different perspectives of life. It mentions a detailed concept of the PH.D journey regarding challenges to solve the problems, dealing with mismatch of thoughts between his Professors and him and perhaps successfully submitting his final thesis. The author calmly takes his readers to an unforbidden, unknown, unfiltered journey stressing on the real struggles in life. This book has broadened my thoughts of visualizing the world and I’m sure it would change yours too. This book is an eye opener towards studying in foreign land that would leave you giving experiences through the sight of the author.
The language is lucid. I'm glad the author wrote this book systematically to bring out the things in an effective manner.
Highlighting and narrating his personal experiences while pursuing his doctorate in Italy, the author has touched upon aspects and diversities which most aspirants, who want to further their studies will find helpful.
The personal dimension of this narration makes it relatable. One feels he's with the author while he's undertaking this journey. The barriers he faced, from social to personal, strengthen his ties to his ambition; and the readers feel it. Italy, and through it, the European culture, both are shown to the readers to through a young explorer's eyes.
The delicate embracing of the metamorphic awakening, from the anxious and nervous self to this independent, motivated person is indeed ineluctable.
It feels heartbreaking to leave your hometown and shift to a foreign land, even if you have to do it for just a few years. This is life and it demands struggle.
I have never stayed in a Hostel or went outside to complete my studies. I have always done my schooling and I am doing my college while living with my parents and so I won't say that I realize how it affects people who leave their comfort zone and go out for their higher studies in the hope of a better future. I don't recognize this but then I am not denying the fact that it is hard to live far away from your family. It is tough to get mixed in a crowd unknown to you but then this is what prepares you for the life.
Diary Of A PhD Student is the author's journey of going to Italy to do his PhD. It wasn't that simple as it sounds. He had to face objections and struggles to persuade his family as he was close to the age to get married when he decided to do something for himself. He goes to Italy and comes back stronger. Mentally. Emotionally.
When I had a small talk with the author, he mentioned that the book is specifically for students and I agree to him but after reading this book, I feel that the book is for everyone because more than his PhD journey, this book talks about survival. Survival of the fittest. Surviving in a completely unknown land, a place where you know no one, listening to the language you have no idea about and having a fear of being left out, is all that you will discover in this book.
The book starts when the author is ready to go to Italy. He keenly explains everything, starting from his journey to the people he confronts there. In Italy, people hardly can speak in English and I could feel while reading this book that people in Italy are quite proud of their language and also they feel shy in speaking English, unlike Indians who will never leave a single chance to flaunt their English speaking skills.
The author slowly takes us towards his course and all the technicalities of it. He dives deeper into all the concepts of it and this was the only part where I lost my focus and attention. I feel that so much of technical terms could be ignored and more of his experience would have done a great job.
To be honest, I enjoyed reading the book because I got to know about the culture of Italy and the people who live there. I am always quite excited to learn about different cultures and their common habits and more than that, I always love to analyze how we ( or at least I ) are different than them.
Moreover, the author also talks about the differences in the lifestyle of India and Italy which was again a new thing to read and enjoy.
I loved how transparent the author has been in this book. Not only the lavish lifestyle of being in Italy but the author talks about the consequences as well. He talks about his struggles in learning the language, in making friends and mainly doing what he was there for, PhD. Staying away from your family can shatter you in ways that can't be explained.
Lastly, the author doesn't fail to talk about the fashion of Italy. People living there have a very classy style of dressing and I can agree with this because I recently binge-watched "Money Heist" which is a Spanish web series originally and I am in love with their language, their way of dressing and everything. Also, I could understand some of the things in the book because of that web series.
The writing style of this book is lucid and narration is slow-paced yet smooth. Everyone can read this book. For someone's debut book, the author has done a remarkable job in conveying everything so well through his book.
I recommend this book to everyone who wants to know about a different culture and their lifestyle and more than that if you are a student and you have plans to go outside, read this. You will see the reality of life in this book. Grab it!
This book describes the life of the PhD student Mayank in Italy. The way Italy and the people are described as good and seemed to be a travelogue with a lot of places travelled as it was the 1st year of PhD in a new country and was exploring from 2nd year it was selecting a good topic and finding a solution for the real problem. The topic was really interesting. The advisors for him was so good and they were the only people to help him as he has some language problem. I came to know that Italians love their mother tongue and love to speak in it than any other language. We Indians are really opposite. We speak English a lot more than our language. The Life of a PhD student and the way the society treats people when keep on studying without settling is really tough and feels like surrounded by negativity but still many complete their PhDs and give a various realistic solution for many problems around. The book is written well and I enjoyed it. Thank you. I travelled to Italy through this book.
This book is an account of the author while he embarked on an arduous journey towards achieving his Doctorate from University of Basilicate, Italy. He is currently an Asst. Professor at IIT, Bhubaneswar. This is a book where he has collected most of his experiences while completing his Ph.D. It is a glimpse of the journey from the very intital stage to its completion in a foreign land. The excitement of starting a new life, tackling the culture shock, adjusting to the new city and netizens, decision making to overcoming his anxiety, hardships he has spoken about the different stages of getting an academic degree. It is not only a memoir of this phase but also a way to present his self transformation through this process.
Is pursuing a higher degree worth it? How stressful is it?
So this book is a journey of the author while he went abroad to Italy to pursue a PhD. He writes about from the time he is accepted in the university in Italy and the various struggles he faced there, the ups and downs, the problems of an alien culture.
At the beginning of the book, he gives a little history of PhD and notable degree holders. Then he moves into his story from the time of his acceptance and admission, then moving to Italy and all that he went through the entire time up until he was awarded Dottorato di Ricerca( research doctorate).
Those who wish to pursue higher degrees must be aware of what efforts and anxieties that come along with it. The amount of patience and determination that you have to keep despite all odds.
In this book, the author has portrayed everything in form of a journal and it is very honest and realistic narrative. The book is engaging with simple language and will be most enjoyed by those willing to pursue this degree or have already pursued it.
If you are one who wishes to pursue a PhD then you must read this book to know what to expect in the journey and whether you are ready for it. Nothing good ever came easy and this is what the author portrays wonderfully in this journal.
This is one of most useful books for anyone considering a PHD. What I like most about this book is how unbiased and neutral it is. You get a great overall understanding of how a PHD works and it helps clear a lot of misunderstandings associated with a PHD.
•The cover page is simply designed and the title of the book is also apt to the plot.
•This book takes you to the rollercoaster journey of a PhD student and his ups and downs through all the years.
•Author talks about his personal experiences navigating day to day life right from the application process to the end and everything in between.
•The book is divided into chapters. Each chapter contains personal experiences of the author. Also, he has used images to explain the things which acts as delightful treat in this book.
•I've heard that phD can be very draining and challenging and the book perfectly describe this experience. Basically it's a story of not giving up and exploring the unknown.
•This book is full of Information, motivation and the remarkable unfiltered perspective towards the passion of persuing something till the fullfillment.
•The writing style of this book is very good, Simple and attractive. I was so into in this book that I started feeling like I was chatting with the author and He is telling me his journey with the help of various pictures/diagrams.
•The author has used easy language throughout the book, which makes it a quick read. Beautiful narration makes it even more engaging.

Before you start wondering what Iam saying, this is me asking you 'Hello! How are you? All well? ' in Italian 🙈under the impetus of my new read "Diary of a PH.D student by Prof. Mayank Mishra.
#qotd Do you love learning new languages?
Fun fact: Some Italians consider fish as a vegetarian dish🤓 Did you know??
"Diary of a PH.D student " by Prof. Mayank Mishra was a wonderful reading experience for me. The book not only is a guide for a PH.D student but also its a repository of life experiences- how to face challenges, learn the skill of adaptability, believe in your self, besides everything to trust your gut, even when hundreds of obstacles come your way to hinder your path.
At the age of 30, when his friends settled to a familial life, Mishra confidently moved forward to shackle all the exclusions and follow his heart to achieve his dream of getting a PH.D from a pioneer university in Italy.
The journey wasn't a 'piece of cake'. There were lots of painful incidents as well as contemptuous situations he has undergone being a foreigner. He was asked whether there were snakes in his house and why he is not putting a red dot on his forehead(worn by married women)
Amidst all these crazy questions and negative instances, the fascinating moments he had in Italy brings a cool breeze to his memory. His helpful professors, the friendly and flexible educational system there to Italians fav sport football to mouth-watering Gelato brings back some satisfying memories to him, which makes the readers feel like exploring Italy with the author.
From selecting a topic to submitting the PH.D paper , the book is a testimony of how difficult the journey is, though the result is a feather in the cap🤩
Also, as the author says, " I not only gained a PH.D, but also made human connections, a sense of adventure and a new perspective on life and practical use of skills". Yes, the book can be read as a memoir , thus making it equally readable for non-academic purpose too. The simple and flowing narrative keeps you hooked.
Overall the book was informative as well as delightful. I highly recommend it to PH.D scholars!!
The story line is simple yet fast paced. The plot of the story is frugal. The story based on author's experience while pursuing his Ph.D. And I must say author has weaved an amazing story that keeps the reader hooked.
The main protagonists of the story is Mayank Mishra. Who went to Italy for pursuing Ph.D. He writes about his own experience from the time he is accepted in the university in Italy and the various struggles he faced there, the ups and downs, the problems of an European culture.
In the beginning of the book, author gives a little history of PhD and notable degree holders. Then he shares his journey from getting addmission to moving Italy and all that he went through over there until he was awarded dottorato di ricerca ( research doctorate).
Those who wish to pursue higher degrees then you must go through this book cause as it describes the pros and cons of choosing a new path of your dreams full of challenges and learnings. The amount of patience and determination that you have to keep despite all odds.
This book is engaging and will be most enjoyed by those people who already pursued it and those who are willing to pursue this degree. My thoughts :- I enjoyed reading this book much. The cover goes well with the story. The writing style is simple and easy to understand. I definitely recommend this book to all my fellow bookstagrammer's. Happy Reading! .. Ratings: Overall - 5/5 Title - 5/5 Cover - 5/5 Storytelling - 5/5 Language - 5/5
Mayank Mishra was born in Lucknow, India, and currently an Assistant professor in Civil Engineering at the Indian Instuitute of Technology, Bhubaneswar. He completed his Ph.D. from the University of Basilicata, Italy in 2017. After reading this book, the first thing I would suggest is to do some homework, because you go abroad for work, studies, or vacation. This book is about the Ph.D. journey of Dr. Mishra. It’s a breath-taking journey.
The book is been divided into five parts. Introduction, first year, second year, third year, the aftermath. When you read the above, you feel the author must have written all his daily life routine things in the book. I would say, 20% is routine things, but the other 80% is his struggle in the new place. he had his first impression about his professor, who guided him to land to their place. it was amazing to see such an arrangement from the University. Next comes, his obstacles. The first struggle he had in Italy; Potenza was the language problem. Even though at one point in time, he tried to understand the Italian language, but still the conversation was not understood fully.
He always would require a translator from English to Italy. Even to buy simple groceries, he would require a translator. Not always somebody would stay with you just to translate a language! We Indian, when we land in a foreign county, the first thing we do is start comparing our country with them. That’s what even Dr. Mishra did initially, he has written his thought so clearly, we can relate to it and at the same time smile while reading. Then comes, from choosing his topic for the doctorate, changing of stay every year, food, visiting tunnels and thoughts about failure very well. But getting in a degree in a foreign country is not easy! And I felt the book was too much-unwanted information, which would have been ignored. Otherwise, I liked it. I would personally respect Dr. Mishra for his journey of Ph. D
✨𝙳𝚒𝚊𝚛𝚢 𝚘𝚏 𝚊 𝙿𝚑.𝙳. 𝚂𝚝𝚞𝚍𝚎𝚗𝚝✨ . Book: Diary of a Ph.D. Student Author: Prof. Mayank Mishra Publisher: Notion Press
This book personally intrigues me, as I am currently pursuing a bachelor's degree and I am sure about doing a Master's in the future (not sure about Ph.D.) When I started this book it was really interesting for me to go on a journey with the author himself.
It is, as the title suggests, a walk through with Prof. Mayank when he was pursuing his Ph.D. in Italy (which is beautiful in itself 😍). The book is divided into 5 divisions, each of which delivering a detailed insight into his course of time. I liked the idea where he divided the book and used each part to present the things he went through in each of those phases.
And how life is for a Non-Italian is in Italy is discussed as being an Indian student in Italy, and the personal experience is the author provides a lot of answers. Sub-sections are discussing the importance and procedure of all kinds of things required by him during his stay.
About the academics, this book is a wholesome experience to understand the culture of an educational institute in Italy, from classes to research work to professors and fellow students.
I learned a few Italian words and phrases from this book, there is a sufficient Glossary at the end of the book. It was an 𝘌𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘻𝘢 𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘦.
It will keep you engaged throughout, the writing style is decent and easily understandable (hence attracting a larger category of readers) and it packs a smooth flow. I can't categorize it into fiction or Non-Fiction, It sounds like Non-Fiction but feels Fictional.
If you are wondering how life is for a person pursuing higher studies in a foreign country (Master's or Ph.D.) then you should read this book, and even if you are not you should still give it a read, it's enjoyable and Go on an adventure to Italy with Prof. Mayank Mishra
When I was in 10th, I came to know that PhD helps in fulfilling my dream of researching. Don't know how long will it take but sooner or later, want to give it a try. And this desire has way lot helped me to analyse the book on different waves of emotion and circumstances. The book picturised the life of a typical middle class Indian boy who is done with his studies (as per Indian norms) and is high way to get married, settle down with his family going typical 9-5 job. I have seen this and am seeing this way around especially for girls of my age. But from a man's perspective it's totally different and at times harder than ladies, this book made me realise. Then the other points where I could relate is the three year work where it's all about enjoyment in a new pace like Italy, exploration of the new freedom, new places, people, food habits, persistent hardwork for the paper at the same time seclusion from the society at different crucial points, return to homeland twice an year etc. Being a hosteler, its totally understandable.
Academically, the struggles in finding help in an unique subject, pressure from superiors, pressure upon seeing colleagues getting graduated,.negativity on non productivity and to some extend overthinking- Typically my thing. But after every hurdle, there is a flat land over which you can run easily and so is the book. Now looking at its structure. although being a biography, it didn't bore me. Usually biographies go parallel where ups and downs are minimal. But in this book, there were riding action. falling action. climax and a perfect winged ending similar to other story books. So I must say that the book is well carved and chiseled to perfection. If you aim at pursuing PhD, then this can be your guide, torchlight and even motivation. This book will never dissapoint you. A special mention to the illustrations in the book that are fabulous in every manner.
🌀The book is isolated into sections. Every section contains individual encounters of the Author. Additionally, he has utilized pictures to clarify the things which goes about as magnificent treat in this book. Writer discusses his own encounters exploring everyday life directly from the application cycle as far as possible and everything in between. This book takes you to the roller coaster excursion of a PhD understudy and his high points and low points through all the years.
🌀Toward the start of the book, he gives a little history of PhD and remarkable degree holders. At that point he moves into his story from the hour of his acknowledgment and confirmation, at that point moving to Italy and all that he experienced the whole time up until he was granted Dottorato di Ricerca. It is a fascinating readers and furthermore instructive. Best of all, author has referenced the issues he looked in PhD alongside being 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 about what issues he looked in scholastic. The author additionally referenced a ton about his working timetable and about his examination work.
🌀This book is brimming with Information, inspiration and the striking unfiltered viewpoint towards the enthusiasm of perusing something till the fulfillment. The composing style of this book is awesome, Simple and appealing. I was so into in this book that I began feeling like I was visiting with the writer and He is disclosing to me his excursion with the assistance of different pictures/graphs.
🌀For the individuals who have finished PhD, If you are making arrangements for PhD or on the off chance that you are doing PhD or you need to think about the life of a PhD understudy then this book is unquestionably for you. At last all regards to for sending me this amazing book it was worth reading it. .
Book: Dairy of a Ph.D Student: To Be or Not to Be A Ph.D Student Author: Mayank Mishra Publisher: Notion Press Genre: Education Format: Kindle Pages: 170 Rating: 3/5
Author has narrated his own life story when he left India and went to Different Continent and Different country for some years to pursue Ph.D. He has narrated the cultural, language and lifestyle differences he faced in Italy during his stay there. We also get insights of the struggles he faced while doing his Ph.D. This book is perfect read for those who want to pursue Ph.D that too from foreign country. I really liked the book for it is one of its kind. I was amazed to know that localites at University were reluctant to speak in English and were comfortable in their own language. When I read about what the people eat there, I was like ‘Had I been in place of author , I don’t how I would have survived. The Author was continuously pointing out differnces between India and Italy, that too casting India in not a good image.I was really agitated reading this. But then, I tried to step into the shoes of author and understand his point of view. There were moments when I really laughed out loud. Like when he says he bought the luggage weighing 23 Kgs when he arrived in Italy for the first time. Also, when he says India has culture of ’Din Kat Rahe hai’ while people in Italy try to make most use of their day. There were many such moments. Language is really easy. I like the way the book is designed ,starting with the history of Ph.D , and then Author’s decision to move to Italy. His experiences each year .Cover page is good but I guess it could have been better. The Title was something that fascinated me at first glance.
If you are also looking forward to do Ph.D or Masters, that too from a foreign country then definitely give this book a read.
PhD is the highest degree that one can attain in his academic courier. There are many students who are thinking to do their PhD in their respective subjects but they are still unsure. If you want to know how the life of a PhD student goes then this is the best book for you.
You can also come to know about the experiences that one can gain by studying abroad. There are a lot of things that we can experience and learn by going to a foreign university. Life is all about gaining experiences. If you want to become more knowledgeable than you will have to break your bonds to reach a higher level of wisdom.
The best thing that I got to know by reading this book is that you can be great in your life when you will try to get out of your comfort zone. Author Mayank has beautifully explained how he had successfully completed his PhD in Italy without knowing the native language of the country. By reading this book I sure that if I wanna go to a foreign land then I will prefer to learn there language before booking my tickets.
Overall this is a nice read for all the students to know the real meaning of education. It is not only about learning it is also about applying what you have learned. By the end of this book, you will have a nice idea about how to survive in a foreign land without knowing their native language.
Diary of a PhD student talks about the experience of the author while pursuing his PhD in Italy.
The book portraits the struggles, ups and downs he faced while trying to fit in unknown land where he don't know anyone nor anyone wants to know him. while struggling to fit in his new environment, he also needs to convince and make his parents understand the importance of PhD so they don't get him marriaged
Book thought me to respect my mother tongue, my culture, etc. The Book also talks about the difference between Italy and India. in Italy people are proud of who they. They are proud of their language, cuisine, etc. On the other hand, even if people see a foreigner they try to speak English even they don't know it properly and eventually makes fool of themselves infront of foreigner. If we compare these two cities then we are able to see the clear image
Though the book is of only 170 pages,i struggled finishing it. The writing style is slow and not Grippy enough for me. Some parts made me feel bored and unentertain.
If you are a PhD student and want to read some relatable content then you may give it a try. 🔹 Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5
• • 🌸Blurb: The book is about Mayank Mishra. He writes about the struggle he faced in Italy being a PhD student from being accepted in the university to the various struggles he faced of European culture. This is the journal of a man who embarked on a journey to get a doctorate. And even though he was in a completely different world, he remained independent, motivated, and unstoppable, thus proving that despite all the odds, if you are determined, then you can do it too. • • 🌸My take: Going alone somewhere to study leaving your comfort zone that too, in a different country can be very tough. I haven’t thought of staying away from my parents myself, so reading this was a completely different experience for me. The author has highlighted all the hardships that he has faced, all the ups and downs and what those things have taught him. It is A must-have book for M.S. and PhD students. All and all, the book very holds the reader's attention. The book catches the reader’s attention by talking about the culture of Italy, explaining the differences between Indian culture and that of Italy, etc. And as I love reading such stuff so it’s my absolute recommendation for everyone.
Diary of a PHD Student is a memoir written by Mayank Mishra describing the time when he pursued his PHD from an Italian University.
A Doctor of Philosophy, more commonly known as a Ph.D. or a Doctorate, is the highest level of degree awarded to someone by a university in most countries.
The book begins with a history of PHD and an introduction of what PHD actually is and what it means across the world.
The author's pursuit of PHD in a foreign land (Italy) where people hardly speak English posed a set of challenges but also brought new and refreshing experiences which are jotted down in this interesting book.
Adjusting to a foreign place, culture shocks, assumptions and prejudices, everything has been talked about in the book as he experienced these things during his Italy stay.
The book has a candid tone and is written without any pretence. The language used is super simple. The writing style is lucid and easily comprehensible. It is an interesting and informative read as you get to know about a different culture and if you are pursuing PHD or want to, you will especially like this book.
Diary of a PhD. Student By Mayank Mishra Rating: 4 stars
The Diary of a PhD student is a record of the author's experience of pursuing his PhD in Italy and the hardships he faced.
The author starts the book by sharing his feelings before he could go abroad for his PhD. He covers all the perks and struggles of undertaking a PhD in a foreign country.
The author has neatly included all the events that took place before, and during his PhD in Italy.
The author has not examined the various aspects that need to be considered before doing a PhD. This book would have been more helpful if the author would create something like a manual or a checklist guide to help aspiring students decide whether or not they want to undertake a PhD. Instead, the author has just published his diary which only contributes as a light read than a concrete journal.
The narration is in a typical diary style and most of it direct-to-the-point which I sincerely appreciate. The cover of the book is quite interesting and represents the book well.
Completing studies in your own comfort zone is easy, but getting out of your nest and enrolling for ph.d in a fully different country ( even continent) is just not simple as it seems to be.
In this book author has written down his experience in Italy. The difficulty he faced while persuing ph.d, cultural shocks, some good memories everything he has penned down .So we can consider it as memoir.
➡️It can be seen as a life of non Italian in Italy.Hence can be a good guide book for those who are planning to persue their studies in that nation.
➡️Author has mentioned some painful incidents which he went through. It tells us the importance of self trust, learning new skills and languages , adaptibility.
➡️Author has also penned down about the educay system and cuisine of that nation.
➡️There is excellent contrast between Indian and Italy .But I believe that countries cannot be compared.
Its a must read for those who are planning to persue studies in foreign countries (especially Italy).
