The stakes are higher than ever, with a body count steadily rising, a surprising, tentative ally, and every step closer to the truth threatens to drive an even bigger wedge between them.
LeAnne and Tyler return for round two in The Unknown Enemy to continue their search for the people involved in the human trafficking case that started it all. But with every truth the uncover, the plot only thickens and the threats only get more dangerous.
The pacing of this book feels a little slower than the first installment, but fast at the same time. Despite the fact that she's still recovering from her kidnapping in book one, LeAnne never stops being driven by her need of the truth, even if it means making decisions that lead to unwanted consequences. Her and Tyler's relationship is strained at best, but the two continue to be drawn together as they dig for answers to their numerous questions.
Twists and turns put their ability to trust those around them on edge and even I didn't know who to trust as the shadows surrounding the Erickson group start to lift. And with the introduction of a new unknown enemy (hehe), the stakes keep getting higher and higher.
I enjoyed this one just as much as the first and with the way this ended, am really looking forward to the next one!
