This compact book is a great personal pick-me-up, makes an encouraging gift, and is ideal for ministry and outreach.
I was first interested in this book because my daughter was dealing with crippling anxiety and I hoped this could be another tool we could use to help her, particularly on the spiritual side. This book is a nice collection of scriptures that help remind us that the Lord is in charge, He knows who we are and He will not give us more than we can handle with his help. Some passages I felt were more along the lines of just think happy thoughts and you'll be happy, which is advice that drives me crazy because it is too simple and can make a person feel even worse when they can't control their thoughts that easily. However, there were far more passages that helped remind us of God's power and how He is there to help us work through our anxieties, which I found very useful for myself and my daughter. I think this is a nice collection of scriptures and passages that can help all of, not just those suffering with chronic anxiety.
I am partial to the King James version of the bible and didn't always agree or care for the other translations used in this book, but I just kept my scripture app open as I read so I could read both versions. Other times though I found the other translations a little easier for my daughter to understand, so I appreciated them as well.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher through Netgalley and this is my honest review.

I received 180 Bible Verses for Conquering Anxiety: Devotions for Women by Carey Scott as a gift for my 35th birthday, during one of the darkest times in my life. I had just been diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder, and the weight of it felt unbearable. My anxiety was suffocating—there were many days I could hardly breathe. At the same time, I had drifted away from God and was struggling to find my way back.
This devotional became a powerful tool in that journey. Each short reading reminded me that God is always near, that I’m never alone, and that He truly wants to help. Many of the devotions deeply resonated with me, helping me not only manage my anxiety but also reconnect with my faith and begin to rebuild my relationship with God.
The only reason I’m giving this 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the Bible versions used throughout the book. Most verses are written in translations like MSG, AMPC, VOICE, and TPT. While I understand the goal was to make the messages accessible, I personally prefer the KJV or NKJV versions for their depth and accuracy. At times, I felt these modern versions oversimplified the Word or strayed a little too far from the original meaning.
Still, this book was exactly what I needed in a time of crisis, and I’m so grateful it found its way to me. Highly recommend it to anyone who is anxious, hurting, or simply looking to reconnect with God.

What a great book! 180 Bible verses for conquering anxiety, and so much more. Each Bible verse begins with a title for specific situation, such a maintaining hope, life’s trials, worry, panic, and just general wisdom to get you through the day. After each Bible verse the author gives us real life situations that we can relate back to our lives, and more importantly our stresses (work, kids, relationships, etc.) Each page is a perfect reminder of God’s promises and I feel like this book would great as a daily tool. Would also be a great gift! Thank you to NetGalley and Barbour Books for an advanced digital copy in exchange for my honest review.
My many thanks to Netgalley, the company, and the author for an arc of this book. While I haven't read all of this book, a brief flipping though of it shows immediate promise. These short devotions and verses are perfect for introducing devotions to a younger audience, your tweens, or yourself! I didn't see anything that appeared to contradict the Bible in any way, however as stated above I haven't read it cover to cover. As far as I could tell this is an excellent devotion and reminder of God's peace in the face of anxiety. I would recommend this book for anyone looking for a short devotion with a strong message!
These are perfect scripture and discussion that help with anxiety and stress. Honestly I didn't realize there were so many verses in the bible that addressed this and additionally discusses God’s comfort and plans during stressful times. These are just the right length to either do daily or have in addition to your devotion that you can pick up during times of stress or anxiety. I also feel like the book did a good job building upon going from stress to calming to verses about giving your stress or anxiety to God. I highly recommend this one to anyone struggling right now. I'm looking forward to keeping this one on hand for stressful times ahead.
I thought this book of Bible verses and meaningful messages was so cute! Unfortunately, the actual content was somewhat of a letdown. I enjoyed the messages the author added that helps the reader apply the scripture and ponder it more, but the author does not use the actual Bible. Some version that makes their own interpretations and translations was used, so some of the scriptures do not come out right.
I've read a number of devotionals, including some on this topic. I'm not totally sure what I was expecting, but I'm not sure this hit the mark for me. There are some wonderful Bible verses included. However, the content itself was a bit of a surprise. The messages were okay, but I expected more Bible tie-ins.
I received a complimentary copy, but I wasn't required to leave a positive review.
I really enjoyed 180 Bible Verses for Conquering Anxiety by Carey Scott. I used this book as part of my devotion time. Each entry contained a Bible verse and a bite size thought to go with it. I liked how each devotion was short, to the point, but still powerful. The book ministered to me and I believe it will minister to others as well. I highly recommend this book! Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for the opportunity to read this book! (This review is also on GoodReads.)
I really liked this devotional. Quick 5 min or less devotions that all focus on anxiety and all of the verses in the bible that deal with anxiety. The perfect book for someone who struggles with anxiety and fear and needs a little boost to start the day on the right foot. I will be purchasing a print copy for myself as I received my ARC digitally. This will be a perfect go to when I need a little gift for someone who is struggling.
