I was twelve years old when I met one of the world’s hottest celebrities. Thirteen when I was welcomed into his family.Fourteen when I realized what his unconditional love felt like. Fifteen when he helped me figure out what hope was. And sixteen when my mother’s biggest lie changed our lives forever. I swore I would never be like the woman whose chronic lies impacted everybody around her, but then I’d be a hypocrite. Because three years after the truth came out, and I reunited with the boy whose innocent love had been taken from me, I realized I was living the biggest lie of all. The one where I pretended I wasn’t in love with Kyler Bishop.
B. Celeste is a new adult and contemporary romance author that gives voices to raw, realistic characters with emotional storylines that tug on the heartstrings.
She was born and raised in upstate New York where she still resides with her four-legged feline sidekick Oliver “Ollie” Queen. Her love for reading and writing began at an early age and only grew stronger after getting a BA in English and an MFA in English & creative writing. When she’s not writing, she’s working out, binge-watching reality game shows, and spending time with her friends and family.
He curses and draws my face closer, our noses brushing lightly against one another’s in anticipation, hesitating with the ghost of his lips hovering over mine with lemon filling my senses from the water I poured us. He wants this. He doesn’t. He fights it. He loses. “Fuck,” he rasps, before cupping one hand around the back of my neck and closing the space between us until his lips experimentally press against mine.
When the author is B. Celeste, I always expect her to break my heart and steal my breath away. Tell Me When It's Over was the same but different. It was one of her books with slowest of slow burn. The lead characters Kyler and Leighton made me fall in love instantly. This heartaching and soul deep romance has a dramatic storyline with constant push and pull. I just couldn't stop as I had to know she is going to make it alright.
I love Kyler Bishop. Period. I love all his versions. The crazy moody talented rockstar. The uber protective and loving brother. The loyal, caring and adorable best friend. SWOON AND STEAM ALERT. This guy is just so intense sometimes and easy going next time. Leighton has a beautiful heart. I could never be so gracious and positive about life if I went through what she did. She has suffered through poverty, lies, neglect and abandonment and I am amazed how she stil loves everyone unconditionally. She has a very mature, forgiving and level headed way of thinking. Her anxiety and insecurities make me want to wrap her in a protective blanket. She is confused and messed up about her feelings for Kyler. So is Kyler. They are not supposed to happen but they cannot resist the magnetic pull. And here comes B. Celeste's exquisite torture on my soul. The angsty, dear god, the angst. The epic feels. The intense connection. The beautiful concoction of sweet, swoony, heartbreaking, steamy and everything else. The full spectrum.
B. Celeste made me feel every single infuriating, soul crushing and heartfelt emotion in Tell Me When It's Over. I am not over this story. Leighton and Kyler own a piece of my soul permanently.
it was okay a lot happening off-page so I can't connect with them
her reactions to some situations seem so slow or delayed or like she (deliberately or not) doesn't understand what's being said when its actually very clearly brought across she lives in her head and has this irritating way of not answering questions so conversations with her are one sided
her bf is a wonderful guy and doesn't deserve her waffling and evasive tactics
she's too young for this hero, I feel they have a very deep bond but don't really address their shared attraction so they're more like best friends (with lotsa sexual tension) than potential lovers
the taboo aspect is them being half siblings (they're actually not)

🎤 As Simon Cowell would say, “It’s a No from me...” 🎙
Leighton “Ley Ley” first meets Kyler Bishop when she is 12 years old & her mother claims that his father is her father too. But, she already knows who he is from TV because he is a celebrity, a rockstar, who used to be in a band but has now gone solo. Leighton has a crush, but it’s not on him. The day that they first lay eyes on each-other she’s wearing a T-shirt with the band logo of his fierce competition & it immediately ticks him off.
“Tell Me When It’s Over” is their story, how she is thrust into his life at a young age, & he makes it his job to protect her. But, when she’s 16 they find out that it’s all a sham, they aren’t blood related at all & she moves away with her mom. As fast as she was there, she’s gone it seems. But although they don’t keep in touch, their special bond remains in tact.
But now, she’s 18, of legal age & is back after her mom passes away. She doesn’t have much to her name & the Bishops as everyone knows are loaded. Kyler makes it his duty to take her in and take care of her. Their crushes on one another are about to be discovered & explored.
What is labeled as a “Slow Burn Rockstar Romance” didn’t have any rock or even music at all & moved at snail speed. Nothing even remotely intimate happened until at least 85% through a 16 hour audiobook. I wanted to tell THEM it was over🤦🏻♀️. I found Leighton’s character to be juvenile, Kyler’s personality far too domineering & fatherly, the romance to be “icky” (she’s initially 12-13 & he’s an adult when their bond is initiated & they act as brother and sister) & the story didn’t have any reason to be so long. Then, once the romance happened the relationship went too fast & their future was crammed in. It just didn’t work for me.
But, this book may be for you if you:
✔️ Like the stepbrother/ stepsister romance vibe.
✔️ Like character-driven, slow burn romances that include family & side characters.
✔️ Enjoy the jealous boyfriend/ fight for his girl trope.
Here are some examples as to why I found this story so off-putting:
“Are we friends?” “We are so much more.” “We are?” “We never stopped being family.” (Family doesn’t sleep together.)
“You care about her. As MORE than a brother.”
“...Maybe we could’ve played house a little longer, or maybe it was always meant to end. The things is I was never going to keep her out of my life forever. I planned on letting her live her life however that may be, without me until we were old enough to come back together. If she wanted that, I never forced her to do anything she didn’t want to.”
Thank you to BookSparks, B. Celeste, Netgalley & Podium Audio for allowing me to join their #src2021 AudioBook Track and sending me this #gifted copy. This title was #2 of 4.
DNF. I'm still rating this for making it past 50%.
Okay, this is just me, but EwwWW 😣. I'm getting too much of a familial vibe here for a romance and it's seriously squicky for me. The over-protection, disapproving of her clothing or sampling alcohol, the age gap all scream big bro/daddy dynamic. G.R.O.S.S 🤮
What's with the nickname? Isn't the name Leighton sufficiently unique? Why Lele? I fucking hate it. It is a baby name, which only reinforces my discomfort over these characters.
Regarding the age gap, it's not very big, only 7 or 8 years, but when the h is just out of hs and barely 18 it may as well be the Grand bloody Canyon. If you're going to separate them by nearly a decade, she should at least be legal drinking age. She behaves like a teenager and little sister much of the time and I am not feeling any chemistry here other than what the writer is trying to force with these characters.
The above dynamic is not geared for mentally and emotionally mature women or self-reliant women. It is aimed at women much younger who still want to be taken care of and believe having a man be over-protective or obsessed/controlling is romantic and means 'true love,' instead of seeing it as demeaning and unhealthy. Also, plenty of ass and body ogling to neutralise any depth and ramp up the 'ick' factor.
Big quibble here. If the h and her mother were so destitute I'd like to know how she had braces on her teeth? I have a damn good job with full benefits for me and my lad - including dental - and even I can't afford to put him in braces unless I get a loan or qualify for assistance. Loans for braces aren't easy to get and I make too much to qualify for aid. Braces can easily cost 10k, so no way I'm buying this kid had braces.
Research is a good thing, writer people.
Sloppy editing, proofreading errors and a lot of the same old, same old inner and interpersonal dialogue. The H is too feminine in his thoughts and the whole premise of them 'living together like brother and sister' is contrived and hard to believe.
I'm not interested in continuing with this.

I’ve read all of B. Celeste’s releases this year! What a good year she’s had. This read goes more into family dynamics and scandals. She dives into a rockstar romance and she gives it an angsty spin. It’s a constant will-they won’t-they, and there’s lots of drama. B. Celeste knows how to work the angst, so she delivers a very entertaining slow-burn romance about two people in different phases but somehow so aligned. We have a brooding leading man and a leading lady that’s kind of lost and trying to find her footing in the new circumstances she finds herself in. All in all, this was a good read even if it isn’t my favorite in comparison to her line-up so far this year.
ORIGINAL COMMENT Angsty, very slow, very friendly and not erotic at all type of book. My least favorite of hers this year, but that doesn't mean much because all her other books are just prime stuff
This was definitely a slow burn romance which started as a platonic friendship.
Kyler Bishop started his career in a boyband and quit to start his solo career. His father didn't have the best track record for fidelity so when Leighton shows up with her mother Catherine insisting he is the father and has paperwork, they move in and become part of the family.
Lenny as they call her gets a loving big brother and sister while their parents are pretty toxic in their own ways. We learn at least Lenny's mom has some mental health issues that if they had been diagnosed earlier she thinks they could have had a different relationship, but hindsight can make you think those things.
This book goes between the time she moved in at age 12 to now, when she is 19 and a big life event happened where she is moving back in with Kyler.
In the current time frame she is attending college while living with Kyler and dating for the first time. Kyler has mixed feelings since he has always had feelings for her and now that she's not actually his blood relation he's trying to resist his feelings. Lenny also has always had a crush on him since he is like every girl's heartthrob poster on the wall though she did like his competition a little better. What will happen if they both realize they feel the same way?
If you like slow burn romance, friends to lovers, steaminess you will enjoy this one!
Thank you @authorbceleste, @BookSparks, and @podiumaudio for the audiobook for my honest and voluntary review. I am excited to be on the #SRC2021 audiobook track!
I ve tried but this book and me we were not meant to be The half sibling taboos spoiled the story for me and then they are not related so this was added for spicing the trope bleach please!!! The age gap not only calendar wise but also emotional irked me Not my cuppa 🍵

‘I look at the two people who I’ll miss more than they could possibly know if, or when, things go awry—because they always do when Momma is involved’
Rating: 4.5 stars
I loved this book! But then again I’ve loved all of B. Celeste books so it really should come as no surprise.
This is a slow burn, angsty rockstar romance with a hint of taboo. I easily fell in love with the MCs as well as the supporting one. I loved the MCs chemistry, their inner turmoil and how naturally they developed throughout the book.
If you love slow burn romances then you’ll love this book!!
Thank you to B. Celeste for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was my first B. Celeste story, and I can't say it really made me want to pick up another one. It wasn't really bad, I just did not feel anything for the romance, so the whole book felt very one note to me. While I didn't really love the age gap (7 years - now 18 and 25, with flashbacks to 12 and 19 (purely platonic)) or the they're half-siblings, just kidding they aren't related tropes, they didn't really influence my enjoyment, because I could just hand wave them away. I felt like a lot of the relationship development between Leighton and Kyler just didn't work. I felt like we saw more in the growth of their relationship in the flashbacks when they thought they were related. Because a lot of their interactions in the present was Kyler being overprotective, jealous, and treating Leighton like she was a kid. Which leads to my biggest complaint- Leighton was was so frustrating and naïve it was really hard for me to care about what was happening or fell anything toward her at all.
I received a copy of the audiobook from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
While this family and their experiences revolve around the rock star / wealthy life style, it’s more a story of people, love and the challenges that people face in who they love.
Kyler and Mia are the musically talented children of a well-known producer in the music industry. Their whole lives have revolved around music and it has shaped a big part of who they are. While also trying to find pieces of privacy in their overwhelming world.
Now let’s introduce the modest, sweet and endearing 12 year old girl Leighton. Her mother is a manic-depressive disaster and has barely managed to scrape by at luring men into her life to care for her and her daughter. But one bright idea and a rich family later, Leighton and her mother are now living with Kyler, Mia and their father.
Mia and Leighton develop a strong sisterly bond that plays a huge role in helping Leighton develop her confidence and continue reaching for the things she wants to achieve in her life. While Kyler is the emotional and supportive rock for her. Their bond develops immediately and they are not only family but friends.
Leighton has constantly struggled with her self confidence, her personal drive and even being able to have experiences of her own. All because her mother has held her back. I’ve lived that experience where your mother tries their hardest, but they are always unhappy and you get to be the one blamed for all the bad things that happen in their life. Some manage to find a way through that darkness and others just never do.
The relationships and experiences Leighton has for the few years she is with the Bishop family change her forever. She learns that she is worthy and that she can do something with her life, but life just keeps throwing obstacles at her. As an adult she returns as the non-sister to the family and works on establishing those relationships with those she had considered a brother and a sister for a long time.
The newly found physical attraction between Kyler and Leighton makes them both uncomfortable and scared to cross those boundaries. This is a story about finding real love, even when people might challenge your choices or disapprove of them. It’s about knowing who you are and fighting for what matters to you. Living your life even when it feels impossible to move forward.
True to Celeste’s style, this angsty story focuses on the dynamics between people; regardless of whether someone is your blood relative or a supportive friend, finding and keeping people in your life that help you live your life to the fullest. These are the elements that Celeste always includes in her stories and this one is a testament to her writing ability.
You’ll enjoy the story and the heart felt emotion that pulls you through every page like a new breath of air. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an emotional read or one that challenges you to live a fuller life after having had some difficult experiences.
Tell me when it’s over, he’d said not long ago. My voice cracks, “Someday.”
I don’t even know where to start because this book was so amazing. This was one of my highest anticipated reads for October and I was not disappointed.
This is the story of Leighton and Kyler’s epic love story. Even when you know they can’t be together you’re rooting for their love story. I’m not going to lie, I was a sobbing mess reading this book, although I still couldn’t put it down
Leighton has been through so much in her life and the fact that she still manages put everyone’s happiness before her own was a really admirable trait. This book is a slow-burn but so worth it. When Leighton and Kyler are together it’s electric. From B’s writing you can literally feel their chemistry and adoration for each other.
I love B. Celeste’s writing so much and this book has easily wormed its way into my heart like the rest . It’s one of my top reads for 2020 and perhaps of all time. I love forbidden love stories so much and can’t wait to see what she writes next. If you are a fan of forbidden love and whole lot of angst then I highly recommend this book for you!
Tell Me When It’s Over had me intrigued since I first read the blurb and it didn’t disappoint me. Yes, it started a little too slow in my opinion, making it a difficult to connect to the story, but it’s somewhat explainable with the fact the book is very long.
Overall, I loved the characters and their relationships. Leighton and Kyler had such a deep and instant connection that grew and transformed through the years. Their feeling becoming romantic was a slow progress, but the only option for these two. I enjoyed how everything felt effortless between them, from friends to lovers.
B. Celeste created a consuming slow burn romance with all the elements to make your read delightful! I don't want to give you more on the plot of this novel, because it's best to enter blind and just experience it!
** ARC received in exchange for an honest review **
Oh my, where to start on this book.. if you’ve never read a B.Celeste’s book, you definitely need to add this to your list! B.Celeste has such a unique writing style that pulls you in from the very first page and keep you wanting more!
This book will give you all the feels. It’s a slow burn but oh so worth it. Lenny has always been quiet and shy considering who her mother is. You will loath her mom by the middle of the book and all the crap she puts Lenny through. But one of the best things she ever did for Lenny was bringing Kyler and Mia into her life.
It’s easy to see why Kyler and Mia are drawn to Lenny, she always puts others feelings before her own. She pushes Kyler to do what he loves and makes him realize that it’s ok to do what makes you happy and not to sweat the small stuff. The tension and angst between Kyler and Lenny bleeds into every page you help but root for them. You can feel chemistry they have on every page and you can feel the struggle they have to try to not cross that very fine line.
This was a fantastic audio book with great narrators. I have been reading a lot of books in the music industry and I am loving it.
When Leighton was 12 years old, she was thrust into the life of famous musician Kyler Bishop. She became like a part of his family until that life was taken from her at 16. Three years later, they are reunited and Leighton realizes that her love for him may not be platonic. This is a slow building romance with great characters. I especially loved Kyler who was a great protector and an overall good soul.
This is pretty mild on the steam front, I rate it 🌶️🌶️/5 peppers although there is one 🔥 scene that ranks 3 to 3.5 peppers.
This was such a beautiful, heart warning get angsty book. I know this author will rip my heart out with her work every single time but this book really spoke to me. Leughton and Kyler had me hooked. This is a book that spans years and I felt every single emotion these characters were feeling. I adored the character development, the pacing and of course, the love story. The writing was flawless and even thought the book is long, I didn’t mind it at all. I devoured the chapters and I was sad when it can to an end.
A love spanning from childhood on. A family infiltrated by secrets and lies. I almost never read anything about rockstars, the angst in them doesn’t always line up with what I’m looking for. Lucky for me, Celeste dipped her toe into the genre with her blend of emotions and taboo. This is what the genre was missing, for me anyways. Kyler was anything but the typical rockstar. Leighton was a typical heroine, but also so much more.
*Read more of my reviews at Whoo Gives A Hoot* B. Celeste knows how to wholeheartedly consume a reader's soul with her breathtakingly beautiful words and she always leaves me utterly speechless with her unique storytelling ability. Her stories are one of a kind and they ALWAYS pack an emotional punch that has me clinging on for dear life as I inhale all the words. Although I know that I should be savoring her words, I just help but devour them all in one sitting because it's impossible to put one of her stories down and I know once I have started reading there is NO STOPPING me until I reach the end. Let me just SHOUT from the rooftops that this story was so exception and I FREAKING loved every single second of the journey she took us on.
Tell Me When It's Over is a slow burn rockstar romance at its finest and I adored the angst that was intertwined throughout the pages of this epic story. Leighton and Kyler's chemistry was EVERYTHING and it set my soul on FIRE. Just when I thought I had all of the answers, B. Celeste threw in some amazing surprises that kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end. This story was absolutely addictive and I just couldn't get enough of it. The friendship between Leighton and Kyler just added so much to the story. Every relationship should be built on the foundation of friendship and it leaves to a deeper connection being built as the relationship develops to a romantic one, which is exactly what happened to these characters.
This story was the PERFECT last release of 2020 for B. Celeste and I am eagerly anticipating what she will bring to us next to top this incredible story in 2021! No matter what she has a loyal reader and fan for LIFE!
I loved parts and I didn't love parts. There were a few places that bordered on icky and others overboard sappy (including the pet-names and childish treatment). And there were some moments that I found remarkably tender and heartwarming. I actually really liked both Leighton and Kyler.
There's an age difference of seven years -- not significant enough once she reached legal age to cause me problems. Kyler never crossed the lines. He always had Leighton's best interests at heart.
Their relationship was a very slow burn with so much ooey gooey back story that I was bored at times. I would have preferred more of their time together where both were adults. I never doubted either's love and devotion to the other.
Tell Me When It's Over is nearly 500 pages of pure love. This author has proved time and again that she can ROCK angst, feels and slow burn like none other, but Kyler and Lenny take the cake!
This book has a lot of story and a great plot to keep things interesting. It's a unique take on the rock star romance trope. Another thing I love about this author, her originality.
I wasn't sure I'd like Lenny to begin with if I'm honest because I usually love the loud, outspoken heroines. But shy and supporting is Lenny's personality and it suits her. Not to be mistaken with weak, because she's anything but. She's as strong as pretty much all of Barbara's heroines.
Kyler Bishop. That man was swoon worthy even when he was cold, distant and cautious. The chemistry between these two was tangible and their story was just so breathtakingly beautiful.
What can you expect?
💙 ANGST 💙 Slow burn 💙 BURN (as in 🔥) 💙 Feels 💙 A heartbreakingly beautiful love story
Done in Celeste's detailed, vivid and perfectly dramatic writing style, Tell Me When It's Over is not to be missed!
Barbara can write no wrong in my eyes, her words pulling at my soul with how deep, meaningful and honest they are. TMWIO is achingly slow burn and had me going crazy with the angst.
Leighton came into Kyler's life at twelve years old until she had to flee with her mother at sixteen and they never spoke until two years later when she has nowhere to go and comes to the only family she knows for help, Kyler and Mia, her step brother and sister. It’s agreed that she will move in with Kyler, as staying with Mia isn’t an option for her due to Mia being in the public eye with her reality show and Leighton not wanting anything to do with that, not that Kyler is a better option, being a rockstar, but he keeps his life private and vows to protect Leighton.
Their living arrangement all goes well until Kyler starts to act like her dad, giving her curfews, even though she is eighteen. This is mainly down to some jealousy on his part as she is spending time with another boy.
Their attraction to each other doesn’t form straight away and is very slow burn but between the lines, it’s there bubbling away, growing roots between them.
This book is a little different than what I’m used to with Celeste. There is a real family bond between Mia, Kyler and Leighton and Celeste’s words only solidify this and we get lots of back story between them, jumping back and forward in time.
Kyler, I fell so hard for his character, he knew what he wanted and made no apology for it, he was caring, protective, the best brother and also a little moody, throw all that in and I swooned major for him.
The book has a great host of side characters, but my favourite was Mia and her no-filter personality, she had me laughing along with her at a good few points in the story. I would have loved her and Dylan’s scandalous story.
Fans of slow-burn/forbidden romance will eat this story up. The tension between them had me on edge just waiting for that moment and when it finally came I felt like I had been ten rounds in the ring, even though I would have liked more passion between them I loved them dearly and wouldn’t say to no and extended epilogue just so I could get more of them together as a couple.
Another amazing read from Celeste!

Dnf 50% Lost interest in this book. I love B’s slow burn work but this really wasn’t it! I went into this book knowing that this story has been done a lot. I love her writing and I thought she would make it her own. For me this book didn’t have her usual emotional passion. I did not feel anything for the characters. Probably because I didn’t care for either of them. I particularly found Lele annoying. I might give this book another try in the future because maybe I jumped the gun to early.
This was such a beautiful story. Kyler & Leighton are such different individuals that come together perfectly. I will say that Leighton could be a bit annoying but still lovable.
And the queen of the angsty edge of your seat drama heart stopping romance does it again. And there is my review. The end.
.Just kidding. I cannot end it with just that. Kyler and Leighton were charming and addicting. I couldnt get enough. I want MORE of them together in that house. I love how they went from siblings, to roomies, to friends to lovers. I also love when there is a good love triangle happening. I had stars in my eyes everytime Kyler got jealous or angry over Chase. The love, romance and chemistry was so deep between Kyler and Leighton, I felt it all the way to my bones. This book had so much angst when it came to Lenny dealing with her feelings about Chase. I was like "break up with him and jump on that Ky-pony already girl" Also so much family drama. I really despised her mama. It wasnt all about sex like alot of new adult that is out now. I really enjoyed that nice breath of fresh air. I love, and I mean LOVE this authors story telling skills. It always flows so effortlessly! It doesnt ever seem like I am reading a fiction story. I also REALLY loved Garrick. I need him to get a story next. I feel like I wont be settled until his wild boy ways are calmed down. I loved him alot more than I thought I would. Man, I just really loved everything about this entire book and I am already anticipating the next book B Celeste writes. 5 stars! GET YOUR 5 STAR BOOK RIGHT HERE!
This book…..What an absolute angstercoaster! (Yeah, rollercoaster wasn’t just enough).
B.Celeste keeps knocking it out of the park and totally had me at “Rockstar Romance” but boy it wasn’t just that. She definitely stole my heart with this one and proved she can absolutely ROCK this trope!
Leighton: How can you not love her? She went through so much in her life but despite all the drama and tragedy she’s such a strong and resilient character. Barbara writes the most badass heroines.
Kyler Bishop: the rockstar that has you swooning all over the place. I loved how he connected with Lenny and was so protective of her and how they slowly built their relationship from family/friends to something more.
Slow burn? Hell yeah! Angst? You got it! (and more) Chemistry? Giiirl….through the roof!
This was, hands down, a favorite. A book that I couldn’t put it down. Captivating. Emotional. Romantic.
So, if you’re looking for a book that checks all this boxes, get ready to fall in love and one click this baby!
Trust me. You won’t regret it. B. Celeste never disappoints!
Honestly, this book was really just meh and boring. At times I was really interested and found myself reading multiple chapters in one sitting and the next I was just rolling my eyes at how dragged out it was. Normally I love a possessive, caring hero but Kyler seemed like an ass some of the time.
