Michael Cohen, the writer of Disloyal, the number one, New York Times bestselling memoir about his time working for Donald Trump as both his fixer and personal attorney delivers the definitive, political document of the 2020 election. For the first time, fans of Cohen’s hit podcast, Mea Culpa, can now read the very best of his essays and political analysis from the show all in once place. This book serves as a snapshot of an incredibly dark 50 days in the run up to the most divisive election in modern history. With his signature wit and New Yawk sensibility, get inside the head of Donald J. Trump from the man who knew him best.
Michael Cohen is an American attorney and businessman. He acted as Special Counsel to President Donald J. Trump from 2017-2018 and as Executive VP for the Trump Organization before then. Cohen lives in New York City with his wife and two children.
After the first few chapters, this book reads like a transcript of former Trump lawyer and fixer, Michael Cohen, during his podcasts analyzing the Trump presidency, the Republican Party, and Donald Trump's base. Omitted, sadly, are the speeches and responses by his guests, which were certainly thought provoking choices. Cohen has nothing to lose after his personal downfall and imprisonment, and his predictions regarding the 2020 election and its aftermath are stunningly prescient. It's hard to believe this was written and published/released to the public before the election was counted and before Jan. 6, 2021.
I tried for 45 minutes to write a decent review on Amazon, because I really enjoyed reading this series of essays from Michael Cohen. 45 minutes. I am so tired of the POS FIRE tablet. Words mishmashed together or left out completely. Dumped me after one short paragraph. Tangled up the lines, turned all I'd written into hogswallop. I had to start over 3 times. After it dumped me for the last time I was tempted to fling it across the room, but I didn't because with my luck it would have boomeranged back and clocked me in the face. I made the mistake of buying the FIRE. I really should have stayed with the KINDLE. For once, I think Amazon has a genuine clunker of garbage in the FIRE tablet. If you want to read this or any other item, and submit a review you might just as well try smoke signals because this FIRE TABLET is total and useless garbage. I am going over to another E-reader as soon as possible.
Now, as for the essays by Michael Cohen on the trump whitehouse, it was a pretty decent read. Fast to get through. Factual. He didn't seem to pull any punches or claim his own moral high ground. But I'm just so annoyed with this tablet I had to come over to my laptop to write anything about this series. So, reading is good. Fast. A little bit odd on some of the typos, grammar styles, tenses, verb-subject agreement, confusion with some continuity, I somehow thought an Ivy league law graduate would get the grammar proofed, but that's just electronic stuff that really doesn't have any bearing on the material. I did like most of the writing, in spite of all those issues. JUST hate the FIRE tablet. Garbage.
I suspect that this e-book is a computer generated transcript of Micheal Cohen’s podcast. The formatting is odd, misspellings and malapropism abound, and way too many f-bombs to suggest that professional editing was involved at all. What is fascinating is the degree to which the essays predict Trump’s post election behavior: the rhetoric, the stop the steal assault on the judiciary and the provocation and instigation of mob. A short, but interesting take on recent events.
Honest and thoughtful. Michael Cohen has helped change my perception of him. It's not by way of reading the election essays that have helped me see the human side of this person, it's by listening to the actual "Mea Culpa" podcast episodes which are available on Audible. this however is the only option available on Goodreads to be able to add the podcast to my reads/listens for the year.
If you're interested in Cohen's thoughts on the huge orange man child, American politics, his own efforts to redeem himself and occasionally life in general. Listen to his podcast. Highly recommended.
A perfectly written story about a corrupt businessman that quickly rose to become America's first dictator, whom only cares about himself! It describes how & why Trump prefers the vote instead of caring for all American citizens. A great read! Perfectly written!
This is a fascinating insight into what was really happening in the mind of Donald Trump during his presidency. Michael Cohen went to prison for doing Trump's dirty work, having, like so many others, fallen under the former President's spell, which he now recognises for what it was.
The candor that Cohen speaks with is welcome & needed, since the madness is real & ever present! While the translation from the spoken word has quite a few grammatical errors the message still comes through loud & clear!! Very hard to put down due to it ease with which to read!!!
Entertaining companion piece to the podcast. Cohen is a refreshing dose of humour, sorrow and insider truth. I praise and thank him for his relentless desire to atone and maybe save a few people along the way.
I found the book to be informative and enough to provide anyone wishing to follow Trump to know what to expect. I wish Michael the best, he's been through a lot.
