Simon carr is, well he is me, hello. I write comedy Sci-fi and horror books. I started writing in 2018. I am severely dyslexic, on the very high end of the scale. So, writing a book was just me being defiant really, doing something I ought never to have been capable of doing.
I really enjoyed writing my first book, Space And Stuff, so I carried on writing. That makes it sound a lot simpler than it was, but after a lot of learning and editing; so much editing! And going through proofreaders at a rate of knotts, I got my books to a standard that only made a few grammar Nazis heads explode; so it will have to do.
I am from Blackburn in the UK, born in the summer of 1976. I have actually won three awards for my books, I know! I was as surprised as you are. If perfect grammar is your thing then you might want to give them a miss, but if you like satire and goofy scenarios I might be what you have been looking for.
I received this book free of charge Our Fathers who art in Lapland had me laughing out loud. I rarely find myself reacting to a story that way. This is a Christmas story with a ribald sense of humor. Simon Carr develops the characters a bit at a time as needed to propel the story. There are no wasted words just a lot of fun. It contains a simple but enjoyable plot that I won’t ruin for you. In fact in it’s more like watching a cartoon than reading a novel. There are jokes nestled inside other bits of humor and nothing is held as a sacred cow. This book kept me reading it with only a couple of breaks to walk my dog. I couldn’t put it down. This is a very enjoyable read. I recommend it to any adult that still wants to be a kid at Christmas time.
What's not to love. Santa's idiot elves read from the book, raising the devil again, who this time brings along Krampus to ruin Christmas by sending all the children to hell to start with anyway. Enter the same bunch of idiots as last time helped now by various Yeti, Santa relatives and lots of demon fodder soldiers. This story pokes fun at everything from fake news to 80's TV shows. Loved the Airwolf sorry wolfair (copyright you know) sequence I mean who doesn't flying battle bopping along to the theme music. So much idiocy so little time. The writing is great, just a few spelling issues, the story suitable dumb. I love Simon Carr sense of humour, a bit crude and lavatorial but so funny. I initially received a copy from Storyorigin but then bought it anyway
Santa's workshop has gone to the dark side, and it's up to the duo of Father O'Riley and Father O'Malley, along with an unconventional group of allies, to save the day in this eighth installment of the Apocalypse Blockers series. With the addition of new friends, such as the quirky snowmen and some Vatican-assigned priests who couldn't bless their way out of a snowdrift, the battle against the Dark Lord takes a wild turn. Prepare for a perilous and humor-filled journey that will keep you guessing until the very end. Give it a read (or listen) if you're ready for an adventure that mixes Christmas cheer with apocalyptic chaos.
Audiobook: I found this story amusing. There were times where the humor was rowdy and a little naughty, but the author has the ability to tell the story in such a way that I often found myself laughing out loud. When you mix Father O'Riley and Father O'Malley with Santa, the Dark Lord, and the doomsday books, life can be very interesting indeed. Steve Connor's narration was great, and his performance added to the story's entertainment. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.
Another sarcastic satirical funny read. These priests get into trouble just breathing. They are again fighting demons and dragging the rest of the crew with them. They are on assignment from the Pope to go and save Santa Claus and his elves from Lapland. The devil has nasty plans to use Santa's sleigh. Will they stop apocalypse, save Santa and save Christmas? You must read this hysterically funny novel.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Loved the first book ' Our fathers' in the series and was looking forward to the second.Although the beginning is very similar to the first book, the author managed to keep it fresh with a new host of characters , including Rick the 'abdominable' yeti. Saving Christmas and Santa is just another day in office for the priestly duo, once they manage to find the time between the tea break and the hobnobs. And God save him, who manages to disturb their tea time.
They have taken over Lapland this year and they want to stop Christmas from happening. So now they will need to work to stop them from ruining Christmas for everyone. Can they stop them? See if Christmas can be saved

Love this book so much I've read it over 10 times and bought the rest of Simon Carr's books which I've also re-read many, many, many times. It's lol hilarious with lots of Christmas magic thrown in...oh and lots of gory death. More Our Fathers books please Mr Carr
I love listening to audio books, and "Our Fathers Who Art in Lapland" has a sense of humor that keeps the listener enthralled. The storyline is engaging. Simon Carr brings on the laughter, and this is a great way to produce a holiday story. The characterization is well-developed and shows the interweavings of everything each character experiences.
Such a great story and the comedy style that Simon brings to his books is second to none. It’s in your face, straight forward, no holds barred laughs all the way through. It’s hard to find a book like this that really pulls off the comedy without looking like they’re trying too hard. Brilliant book, great story and I really recommend it
Omg l love these Priests I never laughed so hard. I read the first an now the second I can only hope there will be a third one with that infamous book. Hopefully Mr Whan can find some fixdent for his teeth. Thank you Mr. Carr my commute hasn't been the same.
This book was hilarious. Simon Carr is on of my favorite authors. The characters are well written, the stuff they go thru are amazing, and funny. I laughed til the end
This was a strange, twisted adventure that kept me reading it no matter how odd it got. Recommended for Monty Python fans and others with quirky senses of irreverent humor.
Yet another laugh out loud offering from Simon Carr. Our ecclesiastical heroes are once again tasked with repelling evil when Santa's Elves unwittingly cast a summoning spell and literally all Hell breaks loose in Lapland.
Funny, engaging and entirely non PC. You'll laugh your Christmas stockings off
