Good read A bit confusing at times Great Potential- shifters, good vs evil, vampires, warlocks, angels, etc the story idea is intriguing- The characters are a mix It's a new author, so I'm giving it a few chapters to acclimate to the writing style. It's a bit detailed but it is the first in a series so....
I finished this via KOBO+ Reign: The Assault of Lucifer Morningstar is the first book in Carol McKibben's Silver Blood Knight paranormal vampire series.
The book follows the story of Reign, a powerful vampire/spirit wolf hybrid who was created by God to be a weapon against Lucifer Morningstar whose goal is unleashing his wrath on the world.
Reign must team up with his bonded packmate and a young wizard to stop the possessed mob leader who is threatening to destroy the city of Florence.
Overall this was a good read and a solid start to the series. This was a new author for me and this first book spent a lot of time laying the foundation for the characters and storyline. Most of the good stuff doesn't happen until the book's last third. It took me a bit to get into the story, and even then I had trouble sometimes connecting with a character or getting immersed in the scene. It just felt jumpy at times. However, I also found myself rooting for Reign and his friends as they formed new bonds, discovered new powers, and as they fought against Lucifer and his minions. A few times the story took an unexpected twist leaving me on edge not quite sure what was going to happen next.
I will be grabbing the second book in the series Let you know what happens next
I received this book free as an Arc copy and the only thing that was asked in return was that I'd give an honest review. Wow I'm telling you this book had more twists and turns than on a roller coaster, and it was exciting and it threw you off balance, because of those twists and turns you couldn't determine what was coming next. It is fast action-packed from page to page, and it keeps you moving to find out what's going to happen next. This book grabs ahold of you and will not let go from the beginning page to the ending page. Exceptional world-building and very unique. The characters are very well developed and realistic so well in fact that you begin finding yourself feeling sympathy, and empathy for the characters who are very likable especially Reign. It has a great storyline as well as tension that puts you on the edge of your seat waiting for the next event to happen. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is tired of reading the same type of plot lines and storylines, and who is looking for a fresh perspective with a very unique style of storytelling.
The author continues with characters from her previous story, but now the main characters from the past have been promised a peaceful life and so we move on with new heroes that have been promised much, but a peaceful life is not one of those promises. In fact they've been told pretty much the opposite. The characters learn they are more than they appear to be and have powers beyond any seen before. The newest paranormal wolf, Reign, descendent of the first wolf turned by the first vampire Brogio, along with eleven others are tasked to fight evil in any form it may come in, but they must leave their home and families they love. To find out who these heroes are, what their powers are, why they must leave those they love and who has tasked them with basically saving the world, you'll have to get this wonderfully told story of good and evil.
Great start to a new series, this book is entertaining and filled with action, adventure and intrigue. The chemistry and interaction between the characters is great. I can't wait for more from this author. I received this book as a FREE ARC copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.
I so enjoyed this book!! Twists and turns I didn't expect, this keeps you on the edge of your seat from the first page to the last! This book is well written, the story-line coming to life with the characters, adventure, and suspense! What a great start to a new series.
This fascinating exploration of the mystic and supernatural is filled with mystery. What could be coming next? The characters are drawn with such detail that the reader becomes part of each scene. This should be a television series.
