While playing pirates, three young boys stumble upon a real-life treasure-a book written in an ancient tongue and a map. In a cave an ancient evil has remained undisturbed, until the boys discover a skeleton with a dagger stuck in its chest. It is not long before they learn that some things are best left alone...
I bought this book from the author at a local store, for the purpose of reading and giving my honest review.
The cover had me hooked because of the old timey feel it gave, like an old school fantasy book. What I got inside was just that. It had the feel of the Goonies meets IT in a way, but less intense. The cursed item was something I enjoyed the concept and the story itself was decently paced. My only gripe is that the ending felt a little rushed and I would like to have seen more of the (spoiler) that was shown at the end, but over all this book was good for the length. (Novella) I give this book 4 out of 5 stars.
