Social media, friendships, dating culture, academic pressures, bullying, self-concept, fear of failure… These are just a few of the complex challenges facing adolescent girls. In a world that is changing rapidly, it can be difficult to know how to foster effective communication and provide authentic support for the girls that we teach, parent, mentor, and coach.
The newly updated edition of Girls Without Limits offers relevant insights and concrete strategies that will help
• Understand the unique challenges girls face, including relationship troubles, social and academic pressures, disrespect and harassment, body image, academic and career choices, and becoming leaders • Teach girls the skills they need to safely and confidently navigate social media and other evolving technologies • Empower girls with the skills they need to establish healthy and supportive relationships, build a strong sense of self, and develop the confidence they need to confront negative societal expectations and make healthy, positive decisions
This is a must read for parents, coaches, teachers, counselors, and mentors of young women. It read like a college textbook, but held my attention. I have already referred back to chapters when dealing with conflicts and found it so relatable. It is written by someone local to me who has done vast research, applied what she found, and refined with a second edition.
Had to read this before a training that I’m attending, it was good information and helpful for anyone that works with (or has) adolescent girls. I also felt like a lot of it was not new information for me and seemed like common sense, but still found value and tips for my work with middle school girls!
"We want girls to find value in themselves so they can add value to the world." 🙌🏼👏🏼❤️ Every parent of a girl, or anyone that works with girls, needs to read this book! So excited to run a ROX program again 🥰
I hate how this book has no written reviews and no information online. The author is a millionaire due to giving these books out in her ROX program. I feel like this book makes girls hi light theirselves as victims and question their confidence. I feel like this program is made to take girls out of their classes and put them further behind while telling them that boys already have an advantage. Seems counterproductive. If I could rate this book and program lower I would.
Reading this as a prerequisite for a work training, but everything in this book is SO IMPORTANT. If you interact with or have girls the age of 10 and up you will not regret buying and reading this book. So much important and useful information on how to teach girls the skills that they need in this world to not only be safe but also empowered, respected and successful.
This is for those who have daughters, sisters, mothers, aunts, cousins, just girls and women on their lives whom they live and want the best for. of all the recommendations to others to read this book, The feedback has only ever been, they wish they had read it sooner!
I read this book for a training at work, but seriously so good if you work, have, or volunteer with girls of all ages. A clear understanding of the type of relationships girls need, especially in adolescence.
Great book for those that are looking to help young girls navigate the pressures of being a teenage girl in today's world. In today's world worth social media it adds to the pressure and stress they already have with self esteem, confidence, careers, and what we are capable of.
This is a great book and a must read for anyone who works with girls of any age! I am a recent college grad, so many of the experiences that my students are having are quite similar to my own from 6-10 years ago. However, that landscape is changing dramatically everyday and it is nice to have a refresher on what it’s like to be a girl and how we can best support the girls we care about!
