An all-new boys love by the creator of Dekoboko Sugar Days!
Enoki is practically the poster-boy for what a typical nerd looks like: short and slight, complete with big round glasses and social awkwardness. His main hobby is making video games, and he's used to not having many friends at school. Then, he meets Shirataki, a former member of the baseball club and his exact opposite; tall, muscular and sporty. Despite their many differences, the spark of friendship between the two boys begins to grow into something more...
This is literally a story of two boys falling in love, healing each other, choosing each other—I’M SUPPOSED TO BE NORMAL ABOUT IT??? THAT’S SO ENOUGH TO KEEP MY SOULLLLL FED ...WHAT MORE COULD I ASK FOR... I LOVE MY LIFE 💖💖💖💖🤧🤧🤧💜💜💜🤧🤧💜💜💜
I received this book from Netgalley/publisher in exchange of an honest review.
I was really hyped to get to read this book, I mean Dekoboko Sugar Days was one of my FAVOURITE books last year and this is a new one by the same mangaka!
Sadly… it just didn’t have the same impact for quite a bit of the book. It got better as the story went on but… yeah, there were just things that didn’t work for me. The stereotypes of the computer club people, the way they called everyone normie which just seemed weird and out of place and hurtful and not to mention how they avoided everyone or had their judgement ready, the computer club I would have liked them see do something… because now we barely got anything, I wasn’t a fan of you are sexier without glasses stuff, come on no. There were also a few other things, but these are the biggest ones.
The relationship takes A LONG time to form, which on the one hand had me happy, but on the other hand it took just WAY TOO LONG. At times I just was frustrated. I just wanted these two to get together and do kissing. Haha. 😛 But it was cute to see them both figure out their feelings (maybe with some help), get closer with each new thing they do (like exercising together). I love that they were so different from each other. Enoki is small, little, and as Shirataki claims weak but with guts. Whereas Shirataki is muscular and sporty and very big. I loved the differences between them and I loved that it worked with them! They really make a cute couple and I was rooting for them to get together for real. To get romantic. I also love love that Shirataki, the more silent one and our big guy, took the first steps! Yas! So many manga it is the different way around so this made me happy.
I love that we also learn a bit more about Shirataki’s complicated home situation. I would have also liked some information on Enoki’s family though!
Then when things really started happening I was just squeeing in delight. YAS! Go boys! And I love that, just like Dekoboko Sugar Days we get to see the first date and the first time they had sex (which was both sexy and hilarious).
The art was just as fabulous as her art in Dekoboko Sugar Days.
All in all, while not always the best, I still loved reading this one. This is a couple that will have everyone rooting for them. It got pretty adorable and cute!
I received an Arc from NetGalley and Tokyopop in exchange for an honest review.
This was a fun and charming manga following Enoki, who sees himself as an otaku. His main interests being his electronics engineering club. And Shirataki who was once a famous baseball player until he hurt his shoulder. A classic geek and jock story.
Although the meet-cute was lovely, and I really enjoyed the characters growth, I had problems with the sex scene at the end. Enoki tells Shirataki to wait several times as this will be his first time having sex, Shirataki pressures him into it by implying and saying that Enoki telling him to wait makes Shirataki feel unwanted. Also another issue is Enoki feeling the need to change his body to ‘deserve’ Shirataki.
Unfortunately these two things ruined what would’ve otherwise been an adorable story. For this reason I’m giving This Wonderful Season With You a 2.5 stars.
The more I thought about this manga... the more annoyed I got, and so I’ve rounded down.
This Wonderful Season with You is a romance manga that follows the relationship between Enoki( He’s shy, and nerdy) and Shirataki ( he’s the ex baseball star). Both are still in high school and meet due to Shirataki, joining Enoki’s club. Though complete opposites they become close and eventually more.
Let’s start with the positives: The art work was phenomenal. The characters were distinctive and I loved all the over exaggerations- they never fail to make me laugh. The characters go out of their way to talk about their relationship and what they can and cannot do in public and acknowledge the homophobia they would have. Which was interesting and something I’d never seen discussed as extensively in other manga. • However, the manga in the end was bland. It didn’t have many unique qualities and was more forgettable that other volumes I’ve read. On top of that- Shirataki was callous and cruel and his “growth” seemed to occur overnight. To be honest- I didn’t really get what Enoki saw in him, and then to make matters worse- He wanted to change who he was, for his relationship. Then as things seemed to look up towards the end- we get the most uncomfortable love scene.
To recommend or to not recommend: I rounded up a little because of the artwork and homophobia discussion, but I cannot say I recommend this manga. I have just read so many that were better- especially recent years.
2,5/5 ⭐️- it was cute I guess but I didn’t really like the art. Or the character design really. It felt icky somehow. No actual plot to speak of just your run of the mill high school romance bl plot. And maybe just my preferences but it could have been better without the sex scene at the end. - I really liked the mangaka’s first manga but this one not so much. Yeah well.

SO PRECIOUS AND WHOLESOME!! Enoki and Shirataki are so freaking cute together, I've loved reading this because it's a light read of two boys falling for each other even being the opposites of each other, they have such great chemistry and understanding.
I received a copy from the Independent Publishers Group through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
When the Electronic Engineering Club is at risk of being shut down due to its lack of members, the leader goes on a mission to keep the club from closing down. After all, they’re a three people club and they only need one more member to dodge being shut down. That’s how the newest member, Enoki, finds himself handing out club fliers in hopes of gaining some interest. When he draws the attention of a muscular and sporty guy who doesn’t know a thing about electronic engineering, he finds himself with an unlikely new friend that slowly becomes something more.
While this story heavily relies on stereotypes at the beginning, it does a good job at fleshing out the characters and showing that they’re not the stereotypes that were initially presented to us. This is especially true about Enoki and his love interest, Shirataki. Enoki is initially presented as a very stereotypical nerd while Shirataki is a stereotypical and rough jock. However, as the story continues, we discover that there’s much more to the both of them and that they’re not the stereotypes they’re made to be when we first meet them. I love how we slowly learn more about them as an unlikely friendship forms before it eventually becomes a romance.
I love the overall cast, especially Shirataki’s family. I was surprised that the two other members of the Electronic Engineering Club are barely developed, especially since Enoki spends a lot of time with them. I wish we learned more about them aside from the surprise development from the club leader toward the end. They’re the only characters that remain stereotypes throughout the story.
This is such a great slice of life friends to lovers story. I almost wish that it wasn’t a stand-alone manga, but I think it would start to drag on if it got a second installment. The story is perfect as is, and I’m looking forward to checking out more stories from this author.
This was a cute easy read! I think my favorite thing about alot of BL is there is no crisis of identity and sexuality (don't get me wrong, those awakenings and conversations are important) but I love a BL that is just two boys falling in love and it's not a big deal at all and completely normalized in the story and I love that. That's just how it fucking should be. Anyway. Cute characters. Love the strong cool top and nerdy ginger bottom. ✨
Cute read with hilariously expressive characters. I liked how they picked up each other's interests and worked to improve Shirataki's family life. My only major complaint was how - it felt like the author just threw it in there while disregarding the character she'd spent the whole book constructing.
mushroom garden LOL. had some second hand embarrassment while reading this oml JAJSJJD so…many…cliches bUT hey i did get what i signed up for so whatevs 😙quick read to pass the time,,(characs and story were kinda bland tho)
I was disappointed in this one because I'd been looking forward to it. Look how cute it looks.
But yeah the romance and characters were really bland to me and the lack of understanding of electrical engineering (electronics engineering apparently) made me wonder why the mangaka even bothered to make that a thing. If they don't ever show the club doing anything really and the club activities don't matter than why pick that club? Why do a club at all really? I dunno the story was kinda all over the place in this one and everything felt forced. Not a great one gotta say
This was a recommendation I found through Book Riot and I enjoyed it! Enoki is a high school student and a huge nerd. He has the whole nerd aesthetic; giant coke bottle glasses, dorky outfits, social anxiety and mainly keeps to himself and his two fellow club members. His engineering club is in danger of being shut down if they can’t get one more member, so he faces his fears and tries to hand out flyers, which doesn’t go well. Luckily Shirataki, a cool, good-looking student is kind to him and helps him collect his papers, and agrees to join the club so it doesn’t shut down. In the process of Shirataki begins to get to know Enoki and admires him for his dedication and willingness to put in hard work. He finds Enoki amusing, and Enoki finds Shirataki intriguing, so the two develop a fast friendship.
Only the club president seems to understand what's going on between them and has a bit of an arm-wrestling match for the chance to romance Enoki, which wakes Shirataki up to his feelings. After Enoki tries to help Shirataki reunite his family and stays with him for moral support, the two clearly are into one another and have a bit of a crisis trying to figure out these first feelings of love before admitting how they feel.
This was a pretty good boys' love manga. I thought the relationship between Shirataki and Enoki moved along well and I did believe they were friends who respected one another before getting romantic. Trying to reunite Shirataki's family was a nice scene as it showed how emotional the boys were, but how they began to understand that adult life (and his parent's relationship) is a lot more nuanced and confusing than they could really fathom. The one thing I wasn't a fan of was the sex scene in the end. It wasn't terrible or anything, but it just feels like sometimes these boys love mangas feel compelled to include a sex scene even if it throws off the pacing of the story, which is how this felt. Not awful or anything, just the sweetness of the whole story felt like it was going to wrap up, and then BOOM they have to have awkward teenage sex. Not my jam but overall it didn't change my opinion of the book too much.
Typical story about two boys who are opposites of each other: one, a nerd and the other a jock. Enoki is a member of the Engineering Club whose members are dubbed as "mushrooms" by the other kids. The school has a new mandate that if a club has less than 4 members, it will be disbanded. Enoki was tasked to recruit members -- or 1 member as their group comprised of 3 -- but while that may be easy in theory, their club is shunned for their social status.
Shritaki was a former baseball varsity player who joined the Enoki's group not because he has the chops to join an Engineering Club. Truthfully, it's only to pass the time. But his friendship with Enoki, though, timid at first, grew into more. Especially when Enoki is bent on helping Shritaki with his home 'situation'.
Short though as it was, This Wonderful Season With You managed to actually show some character development. Both Enoki and Shritaki grew into themselves and found footing in a world that seemed too big (Enoki) and too small (Shritaki) for them.
Thank you to NetGalley, LOVE x LOVE, and Atsuko Yusen for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
Enoki's engineering club needs one more member or they will be disbanded. When Shirataki, a "normie," joins the club, the two worlds of the two boys is flipped in a way they didn't quite expect. This manga follows their budding romance with some fun bonus chapters at the end.
I am not a huge fan of the art style, but it grew on me. I wasn't super into this manga from the start, so it took me longer to read than my general reading time. Once I got past the first chapter, the relationship and slice-of-life aspect that were woven in started to become more interesting, and I was certainly invested in the end. This is a single volume, which makes the conclusion feel quite wholesome.
I would recommend this for fans of BL manga that do not have super pretty boys, yet still has a very cute story.
This Wonderful Season With You was a cute and delightful BL manga. I like the nerd x cool kid trope anyway, and it worked nicely here. Both characters came across well, and the development of their relationship felt naturally and well paced. The illustration was good too. This is mostly a sweet tale, but there is a raunchier bonus chapter at the end for those who like their BL a little hotter. Recommended for fans of BL tales at the sweeter end of the spectrum and with deeper character and story development.
I received this book as a free eBook ARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
It's Gay and it Slaps. Cute Nerdy boy meets tall dark and handsome while recruiting club members, tall dark and handsome joins said club and relationship blossoms.
I am not typically a huge fan of BL manga, because the 'will they, won't they', take a century just to hold hands. Just isn't my cup of tea. If it's not yours either, I would recommend this.
Also would recommend for those who like cute smol nerds, falling for hunky sports guy. Also contains healthy relationship dynamics, and being interested and willing to partake in activities that your partner is passionate about.
This was really cute. I really liked that we had a whole host of queer characters (especially that we got an aro/ace side character!). I also really loved that Shirataki had a bisexual awakening. It was so fun to see him get to that “oh, ooh!” moment. And Enoki was just adorable! I loved that he was so cheerful, even when he was faced with Shirataki’s grumpy and gloomy self. I think the only complaint I have for this manga is that the sex scene felt a little out of character, it felt a little like Shirataki was trying to pressure Enoki into it. And that just isn’t them. But I think overall this was a really great manga. It’s getting four out of five stars from me.
I'm going to pretend the last "chapter" doesn't exist, and give this 4 stars for the heartwarming cuteness that it was overall. To be fair the only person I can blame for scarring me is myself, since I didn't notice the "mature content" warning. Oh well.
Edit: the more I think about it the less I like it, exactly because of the last chapter which included some iffy views on consent that I don't agree with. Rating changed to 1 star
I really enjoyed this standalone! It didn’t feel like insta love, which I’m grateful for because why would I otherwise care? Although the story was about both Shirataki and Enoki, I did find there was a ton more backstory for one character over the other. I didn’t mind because I did feel that it really got fleshed out and made for a good BL story. This was honestly just very cute. I love the art style and panelling. Def would recommend for lovers of cutesie BL manga stories!
I found this really cute. It was a light mainly angst free read. It's kind of forgettable but it was nice whilst I was reading it and I found the main couple had a super cute dynamic.
The end scene was a bit sudden and had a weird lack of proper consent but it wasn't touched on too much and kinda blew over.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for this eArc, this is my honest review.
