Sheilah Roberts Lukins grew up in Corner Brook, Newfoundland but now lives in Portugal Cove-St. Philips. She holds degrees in German Language and Literature, and Education from Memorial University of Newfoundland.
Sheilah is a Newfoundland writer of non-fiction and children’s literature. Her first children’s book: Full Speed Ahead: Errol’s Bell Island Adventure, (Breakwater Books) won the 2018 Bruneau Family Children’s/YA Award. Flying Ace: Errol’s Gander Adventure is the second in the “Errol the mouse” series and was recently long-listed for the 2020 Bruneau Family children’s/YA Award. Once Upon an Iceberg: Errol’s Twillingate Adventure, was released on May 31, 2021.
Her non-fiction credits include For Maids Who Brew and Bake (Flanker Press), short-listed in the special interest category of the Cuisine Canada's National Culinary Book Awards; Rain Drizzle and Fog (Boulder Publications); Bottoms Up: A history of Alcohol in Newfoundland and Labrador, winner of a Gourmand Best in the World 2020 award in the Drink History category.
