I loved the first so much that I went right into this one and I am glad I did.
I get truly annoyed by the sheer amount of Cinderella retellings. And in the very beginning of this book I thought I’d be just as frustrated with this one, but it kept me on my toes and I couldn’t put it down. Despite the fact that I’d already taken my melatonin. Lol.
I truly thought this story was going to be the basic Cinderella ABC123 that I’m used to, but it twisted in ways I wasn’t expecting and that kept me interested. In fact, I don’t know how many times I asked myself ‘ugh, why are you letting her walk away?’ Or ‘seriously, that’s the choice you’re going to make?!’ And as frustrated as I got, that’s why I couldn’t put it down.
Like the first in the series, this is a five star book. The story is interesting and well written and the characters are full and honest. The steam factor is there. I have personally read much steamier books. But if you like a strong touch of gooey hotness then you’ll be very satisfied with this story. And frankly, the fact that it wasn’t all steam is a part of why it was so impossible to put down. The story was very entertaining.

The writing and editing of the ARC version of the manuscript was clean, with no typos that I found and well constructed sentences. The world building was vivid, with the Fae lands coming to life. Where this novel failed was in the characterization. The heroine was sympathetic, if not especially nuanced, but I could not stand the hero. He is weak and whiny. He is fully aware that the heroine is in danger from her abusive stepmother, and makes zero effort to protect her or get her into a safer living situation. At one point near the end, he is whiny about the fact that he cannot mate bond her because of his terrible Dark Fae powers, so he lets her go back to her abusive stepmother and just LEAVES her there. He is one of the worst excuses for a romance novel hero that I have read in a while. It is so odd, because I loved the first novel in this series. This installment in the series almost reads like it was written by a different, far less skilled author. The romantic relationship was a slow burn, with a heat level of two chili peppers. The plot was exciting and the pacing quick. I read the novel in two sittings because I had to stop reading at one point because of this hero. There was low angst and high stakes in this novel, which I typically enjoy. This novel used the Star Crossed Lovers trope. It is also a Cinderella re-telling. The world building, plot, and pacing were all four stars. The development of the romantic relationship was two stars, and the characterization was one star. I therefore gave this novel a combined rating of three stars. This novel ended on a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger ending, so that was a big plus. I do not recommend this novel. I am unsure that I will read the next novel in this series, even though I love the author’s other work. I will not buy myself a keeper copy of this novel.

I kinda wish I could “unread” this book.. The main characters were written in such a way that they seemed to have little chemistry. The plot was rushed by those “it’s been two weeks since I met so-and-so” time skip devices and this kind of threw off the timeline so, not only do we not get to see what they see in each other (other than the superficial “he was the most handsome man I’d ever seen” “I never knew humans could be so beautiful”), things that were introduced to happen early on either never happen or they happen at a way later time than was initially given.
I generally like fairytale retellings, but I won’t be finishing this series.

He’s powerful, alluring, and has that perfect mix of danger and devotion that makes him impossible to resist. His development throughout the story adds depth to his character, making him far more than just the mysterious, brooding love interest.

The expansion of the world from of ‘Once Upon a Fairy Tale Romance’ is fantastic. The fae realm is beautifully described, with lush landscapes, dazzling courts, and an ever-present sense of magic. Captivated by the Fae is an intriguing romance novel! I enjoyed the authors’ depiction of the fae – with real wings, a connection to nature, and in Ryvan’s case, dangerous magic. The twists included that are both classical Cinderella-like and not so much are all inventive, though some bits lean more toward the brutal original fairy tales more than the sanitized versions. Readers sensitive to abuse and physical punishment may not be completely comfortable with some elements of this story. The stakes are high for both Ryvan and Ella, and the pacing and description work well to keep the pages flipping. The romance between them is slow at first, but builds nicely. I did find the characters interesting and true to their fairy-tale selves in a lot of ways. Though described as ‘steamy’, a lot of the story is rather sweet, though things do heat up for a few memorable scenes in the latter half of the novel. Readers of the first book in this series will no doubt be pleased to find a visit with those characters, brief though it may be. As all the pieces started to come together I did feel that there were some aspects that left me with questions, and so the ending wasn’t the heart-clenching high point that I really wanted it to be. It’s a good story, but fell short in the home stretch for me.

After I read the first book in the series, I was still on the fence on whether I should continue or not…but I’m happy to say I’m glad I did, because I loved this!!
It’s a nice reimagining/retelling of cinderella, I don’t read many of those and when I do find books with the trope, they tend to be not all that. But I really enjoyed this one! It’s still got it’s flaws here and there, one being the repetition, it bothered me a little with the first book, and it kinda bothered me here…but yet the book gets away with it, it’s tolerable and I remained invested.
i will say, I liked how the glass slippers tied into the story, I thought that was clever how the author tied them into the plot, and not just as a fashion accessory. 👠💫.
I thought our couple, Ryvan and Ella were cute, it’s like a friends to lovers story I’d say. They meet in the woods, make a bargain with one another, she to be his date for the ball whilst he teaches her magic to fend for herself against her evil stepmom. Time passes quickly and they devlop feelings and it was overal sweet 💗. It was also nice to see the characters from the first book crossover into this one. Every book is a standalone but I would say read in order of release. 👍🏻

Captivated By The Fae is book 2 in the series and even better than the 1st! I must say that this book is one of my top reads for 2022 and by far one of the better Cinderella retellings I have come across. Typically I shy away from stories inspired by Cinderella as they are too cliché and boring. You will not find that with Captivated By The Fae! I became engrossed with Ryvan and Ella’s story rather quickly. So much so I found myself reading every word on the page…
Prince Ryvan is considered to be Dark Fae which is punishable by death. Dark Fae are very powerful but they lead with emotion which makes them volatile. Ryvan is trying to avoid taking a mate; he thinks himself to be cursed with dark magic. Ella on the other hand is trying to escape her own fate; her abusive Stepmother has sold her hand in marriage to a cruel man. Frustrated with their circumstances they collide as destiny determined. Over time their friendship becomes more and there are a few stumbling blocks both must overcome to achieve their HEA.
This novel delivers a simple feel-good story and I LOVED IT!!

In this book we get to know Ella, from the human kingdom of Eryadon, whose fate was decided long ago through a prophecy told by her mother. She's trying to escape into the fae kingdom, to hide from her stepmother who has some plans for her.
Ryvan is the fae prince, heir to the kingdom of Anara, and his father is demanding that he finds a bondmate. Ryvan believes he's cursed, and so doesn't want to subject his mate to this curse.
Their paths cross and Ryvan is completely enthralled by Ella, and he ends up proposing a deal that will help both of them.
This book was a beautiful and sweet retelling of Cinderela, even though it's a really fast and light read the story is well written and not rushed, the world building could've been a little better but its not disappointing. Some things were repeated a few times when it wasn't really necessary.
I loved Ella and Ryvan's relationship, they are so sweet and respectful with each other, it was really pleasant to see them get their Happy Ever After.

While this book was fine, I didn’t like how it was written.
The plot was fine, but it was too… fairy-tale-like? Within a few sentences of encountering a problem, it was resolved. For example, Ryvan makes a big deal about Ella being a human and his father loathing humans, and even though his father does say a few times that Ella being human means she’s too weak to be Ryvan’s mate, he doesn’t do much to discourage Ryvan. Another example would be how ‘dangerous’ Ella’s betrothed is, and yet he disappears within a paragraph of appearing, or how Ryvan’s Dark Fae powers are forbidden, and the solution was to change the laws – couldn’t they have done that before?
Ella and Ryvan were fine, but their magics aren’t shown enough. Ella learns a few spells, but that’s not shown explicitly and she does it very quickly. Ryvan has the forbidden Dark Fae magic, but I wanted to see more of him using it.

I'm a sucker for fairy tale retellings. This book is a Cinderella retelling and I absolutely adored reading it. Ryvan is a prince, heir to the throne, a fairy, and has Dark Fae powers, meaning that he should've been killed when his powers were revealed. Ella is a human and is going to be married off to a horrible man and meets Ryvan. They make a deal and if she helps him then he will arrange for her to get away from her evil goblin stepmother who abuses her. I wont give too many details, but this book spun a memorizing Cinderella story that captures your heart. The characters were developed, each having their own fears and insecurities until they get their happily ever after. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a romantic story, with a bit of steam, some adventure, and a beautiful ending.

Another spellbinding romance from Jessica Grayson/aria winter!! Her books are always so beautifully written, with a deep emotional connection between the hero and heroine and a love that that triumphs over every obstacle. It’s enough to send one into a swoon. Her world building is clearly and carefully constructed, I feel as if I’m there.
And I love this new take on Cinderella, blending fairytale elements to create an even more magical story—with an evil stepmother who is a witch and who betroths the heroine to an evil man. When ella seeks a way to escape the unwanted betrothal, she finds a prince of the Fae. His magic—and his love—may just be strong enough to save her.
Totally safe romance with a possibly virgin hero (no past is mentioned but it also implies he hasn’t had one.) and a virgin heroine. OM is on page briefly and attempts to assault heroine. HEA but epilogue is only a few months out.

I wish I could read this for the first time all over again. Bound to the Elf Prince had put me in a slump so I shouldn't be surprised that another of Grayson's work got me out of it.
I rarely give 5 stars.. but this book was just so satisfying. It was a somewhat simple read, but it still manages to through you into a beautiful world full of magic and romance. There is enough conflict and drama to help build a bond between the two love interests. Their romance is somewhat slow but satisfying throughout the process of a growing bond.
It was a Cinderella retelling but definitely different enough that I didn't have that feeling of being repetitive. I really enjoyed the twist on the Cinderella idea.
Definitely adding this to the list of books I want a physical copy of when I have room for a library (I read on kindle).

The authors have written a pleasant variation of the Cinderella fairy tale as sweet as honey on warm bread. Heroine Ella, desperate to escape a marriage arranged by her evil stepmother, who also happens to be a witch, escapes into the surrounding forest with one of the evil witches spells.
Her intent is to breech the veil that separates the Fae lands from the human.
What she finds on the other side will ultimately be her destiny with unknown to her at the time
Fae Prince Ryvan. Magical storytelling and wonderful characterizations will bring to life a different yet subsequently sweetly told tale of two people destined for each other while overcoming strong personal challenges. There were some heart tugging moments but in the end an HEA was so justly deserved and earned.

Magical storytelling and wonderful characterizations will bring to life a different yet subsequently sweetly told tale of two people destined for each other while overcoming strong personal challenges. There were some heart tugging moments but in the end an HEA was so justly deserved and earned.

This is an author that I have just found and I loved it. It has all the feels of a traditional fairy story. I loved it and I know that this will be one that I will read again. It is not the usual telling of Cinderella but dare I say that I love this more? Ryvan has one heck of a burden to carry and yet he is not cruel or hurtful to anyone because of it. Ella, equally living in fear and pain daily, still is able to see Ryvan for who he is not what he is. Given her life I don't know that I could be that understanding and open. There is real romance and some fantastic characters in this. You just want to hug Ryvan's Grandfather though, he is so sweet.

A feel good fairy tale.
Bare with me as I'm not that good at expressing myself. I really love this author and the way she spins her tales and I was once again mesmerized by this story. It's loosely based on Cinderella but with Fae instead simple humans. What can I say about the main couple, Ella and Ryvan? They're perfect together and individually. They're both strong but willing to accept when they are wrong. They aren't whiny, negative, impatient or defiant just for the sake of being a strong character. It's a beautiful, romantic story with surprise appearance towards the end! If you want a feel good romance with a bit of an adventure, steam, and a HEA, you might want to give this book a read!

I loved this fantasy twist on Cinderella, featuring Ella and Ryvan. Ella is human, and her stepmother is an evil goblin blood witch. In an effort to escape from her stepmother, Ella attempts to breach the veil between the human and Fae realms, and in the process meets Ryvan. Ryvan is a prince, and the king wants him to take a wife, but Ryvan doesn’t want to because he has a secret that the Fae would be unhappy to learn. The characters are wonderfully written and developed. Looking forward to reading more by this author.

Story began with Ella going to the forrest to run away from her witch stepmother. There she met Prince Ryvan of the Faes. Both of them had issues about marrying and so they made a deal. While waiting for the deal to happen, the two would meet and thus started their strong attachment.
I was completely entertained by this Cinderella variation with an almost Romeo and Juliet twist.Author develped the story well. I felt all characters played a significant role. Everything was tied in the end. Completely enthralling. Highly recommend reading this. (Note: Has mature scenes in the story)

a feel good fated romance
It’s been a while since I read book one but now I remember why I loved it and now I love this one too!
A feel good story of fated mates with a Cinderella retelling twist.
These two characters have wonderful chemistry. I loved the wings and the dark Fae element.
This is book two but it can be read as a stand-alone. Just know it does spoil book one however since that couple appears in this one at the end.

This book was just okay to me. I did like the Cinderella retelling, but I felt like the "hero" wasn't so much of a "hero."

If you like unique fairy tales then this one is for you!!! LOVED IT SOOOO MUCH!!! Seriously one of the best! I love retellings because they make it their own into something NEW that you didn’t know you would need!!! It has so much heart and feels man! I also loved the chemistry. It was sweet how the friendship bloomed to something wonderful 💚It hooked me from start to finish!! Cant wait for the next retelling!!!

I liked this story. I liked how the author put me into their magical world. I liked Ella and Ryvan. I think that they are interesting characters. I felt for Ryvan because he had a bit of angst. Ella also had a bit of angst. I liked this version of Cinderella type fairy tale. I think that the author did a great job with creating her world and making it believable.

The second book in the Once Upon a Fairy Tale Romance series a sexy retelling of Cinderella. The story is well written with a very good storyline, the story flowed smoothly across the pages. Fae Prince Ryvan and human Ella's story there is secrets, drama, we also get to see more of Alara and Vernon, and see these two fall in love. I enjoyed reading. Great twist on the Cinderella story. Wicked Stepmother? Check. Being treated like a servant in her own home? Check. Falling in love with the wayward prince? Definitely. Loved every page of this book. Ellla was a great character and Ryvan was so charming. True love always wins out. Never forget that one bit.

I like Jessica Grayson's books b/c they are "gentle" romances and good for when I'm in a light mood. Any "danger" in the plot is resolved within the same page, usually, and the chemistry between characters is sweet. But that being said, she tends to repeat the same phrases and dialogue in her books, which is distracting and disappointing. There are also continuity issues with character and setting descriptions.

I enjoyed this second book in the series. This one was much slower in terms of the romance as we saw the relationship slowly build between the MCs. I like a bit more steam in the books I normally read so maybe that was part of the reason it felt so slow as we had to wait until the end of the book for anything really intimate to happen.
