Country Music Cowboy by Sasha Summers
3rd book in the Kings of Country series. Contemporary romance. Can be read as a stand-alone but better as part of the series. Slight cliffhanger for the series but this couple’s story is complete.
Loretta Gram has to listen to the record label if she wants to continue her singing career. That means pairing up with Travis King. Together they can make the music sing. But are either ready for the emotions that stir beyond the music?

An emotional story with a rollercoaster of highs and lows of self esteem, acceptance, support, and love.
A plethora of song lyrics (poems?) about love that document especially their longings for each other.
A couple of enemies that we can all hate. CC is a nasty, vindictive woman. Donnie is a free loader.
A bit of sexy to go with the suggestive lyrics.

Excerpt of Travis:
“One kiss. One kiss and he’d stop this. He tore his gaze from her mouth and groaned at the raw hunger on her face. Her eyes flashed as she gripped the front of his tuxedo jacket, pulling him in—impatient.
One kiss wouldn’t be enough. No matter how much he wanted her, he couldn’t do this. He reached up, smoothing the hair from her shoulder. “I want to kiss you.” Her smile almost changed his mind. “But if I kiss you now, you’ll always wonder if this was my angle the whole time. And I’ll wonder if this is what you wanted or if I took advantage of you, because tonight… Well, tonight has been an emotional roller-coaster ride.”

Excerpt of Loretta:
“Music was the thing that healed her—that soothed the stress and worry and pain from her heart. It was about creating something beautiful out of the dark. Finding strength in the notes and lyrics that would rise above the noise and chaos of everyday life. Together, they were building a safe harbor to shelter through the storm.”

I received a copy of this from NetGalley. I also purchased a copy to share.

This is a Cowboy Romance, and this is the third book in the Kings of Country series. I loved this book, and I loved the characters of this book. I normally not a big fan of books with a lot of music/singers, but this one was really good. There was a lot of characters, but it was written where the book having a ton of characters did not bother me at all. I really loved how most of the characters has big personalities, and I can see me loving getting to know all of while I read this series. I also love that a lot of the characters are over coming something. Great book. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Sourcebooks Casablanca) or author (Sasha Summers) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

This is book 3 in the Kings of Country series (I'm going to have to check out the first two now), but this can be read as a stand alone! This book is perfect for anyone who loves an enemies to lovers trope AND some behind the scene glimpses into country music. It was AMAZING! I flew through this book! A standing ovation for this one!

Travis King is the son of big time country music star, Hank King. Travis King has a dark history of drinking and partying that led to an an event that everyone is talking about. Now fully recovered from rehab, Travis' record label is working on image rebranding and their pair him up with country music's rising star Loretta Gram.

Loretta Gram is still grieving the death of her duo partner and she can't stand Travis King. She's cold as ice to Travis as she's dealing with her own dark and twisted past.

Can Travis overcome his playboy drinking image? Can Loretta overcome her past? Will the two be able to make their new country music duo work?

Gotta read to find out! Available 8/30/3021

Thank you to Netgalley and Sorcebooks Casablanca for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Travis is such an interesting character. I really liked his personality. Loretta is skeptical and placed in a hard situation after going through very difficult death of her partner/husband. I typically am a sucker for a gal down on her luck. Loretta is struggling but the King family won't let her wallow alone.

Very relaxing read. If you like country music and how the whole process goes then here you have it.

Thanks to Netgalley ARC in for honest review from me.

This is the third in a series about the three King siblings, country music stars, finding their own love stories. I haven’t read the first two but I don’t think it mattered too much; Travis’ story stands pretty well on its own. However, if you’re looking for a cowboy romance, this isn’t it. The most cowboy it gets is the fact that he pretty much always wears cowboy boots and a Stetson.

There are some really heavy themes here for a romance, and it definitely needs trigger warnings for: drug and alcohol addiction, rehab, drug overdose, abusive parents, death of a friend and friend with cancer. If you liked A Star Is Born but were devastated that it didn’t have a happily ever after, you’re going to absolutely love this. Both Travis and Loretta are Messy, with a ton of baggage they have to deal with, both past and present, but theirs is one of those relationships where together, they are far stronger than they are apart, and I absolutely bought into that. Once they start trusting each other, everything clicks into place despite outside forces working against them.

Despite the heavy themes - or perhaps because of them - I absolutely loved this. Travis and Loretta are both easy to feel sympathy for; you want them to be happy and to work it out. The drama and tragedy, and especially the level of public and social media scrutiny they had to endure, actually felt very real for two people living their life in the public eye. I’m happy to give this five stars.

I listened to Country Music Cowboy (via hoopla) and am very happy to see the progress the family has made. Travis has always come off as a goofball with a good heart and that was re-enforced in his book. I liked his anti-secret policy. He respected privacy, but had no patience for the games that previously rocked their family. Loretta made for a good match. She's had her own setbacks but never lost herself no matter how much she tried to harden her heart. Their back and forth was pretty cute.

Overall, this was a good saga series. The storylines were fleshed out so that the romance and the family got equal page time. The way the siblings treated each other was familiar, especially when they straddled the line with their teasing. And any pandemic rage I have found a great target in the character of their mother. Talk about a vile human being, although she seems to have lost much of her influence over the family at this point. Finally! I don't know what's planned for the final book in the series, but I'm looking forward to finding out.

There's a Dollar Tree right around the corner from my apartment, and every time I'm in there and walk past the books they sell, I'm so curious what they've got going on on that shelf. Kind of a personal bucket list item, I guess. Hehe. Annnnnddddd now I know.

Tbh this book was not nearly as bad as I was expecting, which is actually probably exactly why I think it wasn't horrendous. Once you set your expectations, the storyline is entertaining. Just reading the back is a trip. One major surprise plot point was completely dropped without being tied up though.

But OOF the typos! Forget punctuation, some of the sentences straight up did not make sense. Page 136 completely fell out of my book, not having been glued in at all. Dollar Tree FTW.

Felt fun to do this read. Would not do it again.

As the third book of a series, I did not expect the layers to the characters to go as deep. Travis has been in the past two books, but his personality was just skimmed. I enjoyed getting to know him. Loretta is not having an easy time, losing her singing partner and then being paired to sing with Travis King. Travis is not who she sees on the surface and boy can he write a song. I liked how the King family embraced the struggling Loretta, and she softens to them. Will Travis and Loretta free their demons? Eventually living again and loving themselves going forward. This book will tug at your country lovin' heart.

Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

Sasha Summer has become one of my all time favorite authors and the kings of country series has been my favorite so far. I have loved both the first and second book and I couldn't wait to get my hands on Travis story and find more out about him. I have fallen in love with all of the character except for CECE. She is the worst ever.

I can't wait to read more and more book by Sasha summers.

"Country Music Cowboy" is book 3 in the "Kings of Country " series by Sasha Summers and possibly my favorite one. Each book has something that I like about them, but Travis has been my favorite since the beginning. He definitely deserved his own story. He has been getting over an incident that woke him up and wanted to better his life. He pairs up with Loretta for a song at the awards. Travis is known for being a ladies' man, and working with Loretta has got him thinking differently. There are a few things that test him and get him wanting to go back to his old ways, but with his strength, he is able to overcome them. I am hoping there is another book that will be in this series because I need more information about Sawyer.

I enjoyed this series. You can read the book as a stand alone, but it's better read in order.

This book is about the brother in the King family. You learn a bit about him in the first two books. He's had a bit of a rough time with everything that is going on with the family. His mother is barely in the book and I still can't believe what she has done!

One of my favorite things about this book is how the family comes together. Well, the father, sisters, and brother come together. Travis leaves his party life behind after being in rehab. He's getting his career back on track which includes a duet with Loretta. Loretta is dealing with the death of her friend and singing partner. Both Travis and Loretta are dealing with their personal demons and help each other.

Loretta Gram was half of the country music singing duo Love Joy. Johnny, the other half of the duo has died and left Loretta to pick up the pieces of her music career. Loretta's recording company Wheelhouse Records insists that she pair up with Travis King at the International Music Awards for their "In Memoria" segment in honor of Johnny. Loretta didn't want to do a duo performance with Travis King. Travis had been known as a drunken womanizer. Loretta didn't believe his rehab stay changed that. The rehab stays never stuck with Johnny. Loretta vowed she'd get through this and hoped Wheelhouse would go along with her aspiration for a solo singing career.

Travis King had hit rock bottom. He needed to save his career. Also he didn't want to bring his family's musical dynasty down. His father is the famous country music star Hank King. Travis, along with his sisters are known as The Three Kings. Travis had checked himself into a rehab facility and was sober for a year now. For him there's no going back to that destructive lifestyle. Travis wasn't sure he wanted to do a duo with Loretta Gram for the International Music Award's "In Memoria." But if it is considered the right step to getting his musical career back on track then that's what he plans to do. Travis wasn't prepared for the attraction he felt when he met Loretta Gram. Maybe life was looking up.

Country Music Cowboy by Sasha Summers is the third book in her Kings of Country series. This is an enemies to lovers, opposites attract romance. Author Sasha Summers does a great job with this storyline. The two main characters, Loretta Gram and Travis King are quite realistic. I like how they fight their attraction to each other. And then I also like how supportive of each other they become. Once again I have to say that I really, really dislike CiCI King, Travis' mother. It's hard to believe anyone could be so twisted. Loretta and Travis get their Happily Ever After but it's not without pitfalls and stumbles. I have really enjoyed this series.

Thank you NetGalley, Sasha Summers and SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca for the ARC of Country Music Cowboy. This is my personal review.
I saw the cover and the title, and I knew I wanted to read this book.
This was a fantastic story, and it is part of a series, but I have not read any of the others in the series. Each can be read as a standalone.
Loretta and Travis are two singers who I would love to meet. There is a such a click between them, and the chemistry is amazing. Each page I read made me anxious to see what happens on the next page.

Travis King has a reputation for being country musics bad boy. Fighting, drinking, trashing hotel rooms, girl after girl . He is part of a trio with his famous sisters under the direction of his world famous father.

Loretta is half of a duo left behind by her former partner ,boyfriend and best friend who had an alcohol and substance abuse problem that ended in suicide.
Her record label teams her up with Travis King who represents, as Loretta sees it, everything she despises. Can these two make beautiful music together ? Or will this end both their careers ?

This is about forgiving yourself, family secrets, second chances and family!
While this is the third book in the series, this is the first book I have read , not only in the series but by this author and definitely not the last!

An emotional book. Travis is dealing with past vices while Loretta grapples with losing her singing partner. Paired together they make beautiful music off and on stage. I have enjoyed this series with characters readers can relate to as well as rejoice when things go right. Who doesn’t love a cowboy romance? Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the early copy.

Country Music Cowboy is the third title in the Kings of Country series, and it appears to be the conclusion as well. I’ll admit that I was certainly hoping to see one particular character get taken down a few pegs but… a series ends where the author says it does, so I’ll just imagine that she got what she deserved eventually.

I have enjoyed the series and looked forward to Travis’ story, and he got a lady that he deserves… well, eventually, first there are some enemies-to-lovers moments to get through and some very rocky roads before Loretta and Travis can wander off into the sunset with their happy ever after ending.

Travis is a recovering alcoholic and it has been a downward spiral that took him back to rehab, the time that finally took for him. Every person in recovery is different, and Travis had to walk his journey until this moment. Now he has an upward climb to prove to himself, and to others that he’s sober and intends to stay that way for the rest of his life… it’s been a year, but there are times when each day is a battle to get through without going backward.

Loretta has been part of a popular country duo and is now facing a solo career when her partner dies. She has a rough road ahead of her as well, and she certainly isn’t as trusting of others as she once was …Johnny made sure of that. She will be singing with Travis at an award show to honor her deceased partner, and she certainly doesn’t want any part of Travis for she sees him as another playboy cowboy who makes promises and breaks them left and right, as his many stints in rehab have proven. She’ll get through this, somehow, but doesn’t expect the King family to gather her up and tend to her wounds or for the spark of attraction for Travis that she’s doing her best to ignore.

Both Loretta and Travis have baggage, and it shows. Watching them move from enemies that even Travis couldn’t seem to charm, to so much more was an emotional journey. They fit, even though wounded they fit together so well, they balanced each other but they had to get past some serious misconceptions about each other. We’ll get to meet up with the rest of the King family, see some familiar faces, and watch a love song come true for Travis and Loretta. I enjoyed myself and I’ll miss this world but look forward to what this author brings us next.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

It’s been awhile since I read a music romance, mostly because when I’ve read one in the past few years, they haven’t been the best of experiences. That said, Country Music Cowboy by Sasha Summers is right on target and makes me want to read the first two books in the series.

Loretta Gram has lost her best friend and singing partner to an untimely death, and she’s not in the right frame of mind to be dealing with Travis King, the son of the famous country star Hank King and a member of the Three Kings. As far as she can tell, he’s an out-of-control player who has been spoiled rotten and has no responsibilities or cares for anyone else. But Loretta doesn’t really know Travis. She just goes by what the tabloids and rumor-mill tell her.

Fresh out of rehab, Travis is trying to start over. He’s a year sober and looking forward to starting his new path. He’s surprised and then mad when Loretta Gram presumes that he’s pretending to be sober. But there’s something between them. When Loretta discovers the truth, it opens up a door to a new level for them, if only they can navigate certain self-interested family members and learn to trust. Travis is funny and sweet and Loretta is strong and self-sufficient. They are a very readable match.

Country Music Cowboy is just such a solid read with interesting, likeable characters, great pacing, and a plot in which the hard topics are sometimes dealt with in a sympathetic manner. While I sometimes go “ugh” when I read the “lyrics” that authors give their characters to write, even here, the writing was good with a sense of rhythm and rhyme that would be perfect for a song.

Because I liked the novel’s synopsis, I didn’t pay attention to the fact that this is the third novel in the Kings of Country series. I needn’t have worried. While there were a lot of characters (the romances that had already preceded Travis and Loretta’s), they never felt extra. They had a place in the story because the Kings are a close-knit family, with the exception of the mother, Cici, who is divorcing Hank. Likewise, there weren’t any holes in the plot that weren’t filled in this story’s telling. So, all-in-all, a satisfying experience.

While Sasha Summers has written quite a number of novels, this is the first I’ve read but most definitely won’t be the last. First, I’m going to read about the other Kings of Country.

A solid, satisfying read about a likeable couple.

Even famous country music stars have insecurities. That’s the premise of Sasha Summers newest book Country Music Cowboy. This story is filled with emotion and heartache but also optimism and good feelings. Loretta and Travis are both successful country music stars and they have one thing in common, they each have a whole lot of baggage.

I loved reading Travis and Loretta’s story, they have loads of chemistry and great dynamics between them. I enjoyed reading this touching story filled with scorching looks and underlying tension. Travis and Loretta are complex characters and they have been through so much, I kept hoping they would have the HEA they deserve. I knew if they just let their guard down and believed in the power of love, they would find happiness together.

Travis King and his family have been part of the country music scene for years. Travis has a well deserved bad boy reputation and is a recovering alcoholic working hard every day to stay sober. Travis has demons and even though he is successful and handsome, he is full of self doubts and insecurities.

Besides being a country music star, Loretta hasn’t had too much good luck in her life. The last thing Loretta wants to do is to get involved with Travis, but she can’t seem to help herself.

I enjoyed being immersed in the country music scene. This is a moving story with an interesting plot, the pacing is good and although the characters are celebrities, they felt real to me. I was quickly turning the pages to find out what would happen next.

I found it easy to relate to Travis and Loretta, plus I loved the entertaining secondary characters included in this story. I have read all the books in this series and each one is about a different sibling in the King family. This tender and uplifting story left me with a smile on my face.

Goodness gracious Sasha Summers you have this reader enchanted with the Kings. We have the bad boy of music and good Lord sexiest musician Loretta Gram has even seen. Everybody is just waiting for her to become "a has been in the music world", to fall on her face since tragedy struck her life and now she is up against a King who might just be her salvation. Sasha Summers not just takes us behind the scenes of the King family and boy do we have it all from a wedding, betrayal, lies and now a mystery that is well troubling Travis topping it with a villain Mama King. It's like seeing the country show Nashville and the movie A Star is Born all combined in one leaving your breathless and suspense of what's to come next. I loved seeing Hank King with a little romance brewing because come on the father of these beautiful kids deserves a little happiness as well considering who he was married to. Travis may have seem like the jokester in the previous books but man do we get the full story of him that not even Loretta saw coming. The chemistry between these two is so not what they expected but so much more it was like written in the stars so to speak of them. This is one series that has totally rocked from the King family, the music coming to life to seeing each one find their other half is truly awesome from Sasha Summers, totally awesome.

4 1/2 Stars for this heart-wrenching story.

This is the first book that I have read by this author ... and it won't be my last. I really enjoyed this emotional story from behind the scenes of country music royalty.

When Loretta's signing partner dies, her record label pairs her with Travis King ... from country music dynasty, the King Family. She's heard the stories about Travis, a drunken playboy who has a temper. Loretta has dealt with enough drunks her life ... her mother, her father and her former singing partner. She's not doing it again! Travis has been sober for over a year and his family is still walking on eggshells around him. He's just a back-up siinger ... what makes the record label think he can be half of a duo ... especially with a songbird like Loretta Gram.

This story had so many twists and turns and I loved every one of them. I felt so sorry for Loretta ... she was dealt a really bad hand in life, but she is strong and will make her way through it. And Travis was a broken sole trying to live up to the family name and feeling like all he does is fail. My heart broke for these two and they are so perfect for eac other. Even though I didn't read the two previous books in the series, I had no trouble followig the story ... but that said, I will be going back and reading them. My only throught is ... is Sawyer going to get a book?

The blurb caught my eye, the first couple of chapters made me second guess myself but about 25% of the way through I couldn't but the book down. The storyline kept me interested - I wanted and needed to know what was going to happen next between Loretta and Travis. Both of the characters have difficult pasts and are still battling those demons. Loretta did not grow up in a loving and supportive family/house, her father continues to cause problems throughout the story. She recently lost her singing partner and long time friend to and accidental drug overdose. Travis and his family (the Kings) are country music royalty. He grew up in a loving and supportive family but had a recent battle with alcoholism and public outburst that landed him in rehab. The couple is pushed to perform together and become a new duo, there is instant attraction between them that starts sparks on stage. Initially Loretta refuses to acknowledge it but then eventually agrees to ONE NIGHT. As they continue to work together one night becomes more and feelings develop. When demons from Loretta's past make an appearance and the King mother starts drama she pushes people away, this strains her relationship with Travis. Are they able to work through it and finally be together?

Overall some corny moments but really enjoyed the plotline.

My Country Music Cowboy Review . . .

I adore this series and these siblings. I was super excited for Travis's story. I wasn't sure whom would be a great partner for Travis and how they would fit into the world of the King's, but Loretta was perfect for him and the family.

I was hoping maybe Cici would be humanized but nope she's still a monster. Sasha does such a great job writing that my reaction to Cici is so visceral. When I can have that reaction I know that is from the writing.

I love how all the siblings stories interact with each other. Their bond is great. I was sad that the stress and insecurities of Travis got the best of him and he turned to the bottle but I am happy he found his way out of that.

I also like the look into the music industry and all the behind the scenes details. Sure it is fiction but it does give you a feel of what it would be like.

The back story of Sawyer is killing me and I can't wait for his story and all the puzzle pieces to fall into place while at the same time hopefully Hank finds his own piece of happiness and away from the toxicity of his wife. Fingers crossed.

Can't wait for more from this author and this series.

“Country Music Cowboy” was my first book by Sasha Summers and it was a delight! I felt a little bit out of the loop since this was book 3 in the series, but I hope that there’s going to be another one (wink, wink).

In this book we have hero Travis King, who’s become a liability to his record label because of addiction issues, but has been making an effort to stay sober and become a role model to his family, fans and most importantly himself.

Then we have Loretta, our heroine, who was part of a country duo, but her partner in the duo has passed away and this partner had also been in rehab with Travis, which instantly creates conflict when Loretta and Travis are paired together for an awards show.

I thought that Loretta, once you learned more of her past other than her music partner passing away, the aversion she had to people with addiction made sense. It did take a while to get to that point.

I really loved the loving relationship that Travis had with both his sisters and father and even though his mom was supremely catty, he did what was best for him and his family (and Loretta) whenever possible when dealing with his mom. I am so interested in all the reasons that his mom is this way and I’m looking forward to reading more about the other books.

Thank you to Netgalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is the third book in the 'Kings of Country' series. I really enjoyed the previous book, so was glad to get my hands on a copy of this one. The King family are a big deal in the country music scene. Travis King needs to get his act together and stop all the partying and drinking, or his record company will pull the plug. In a bid to get his image back to where they want it they arrange for him to sing with rising star Loretta Gram.

The last place Loretta wants to be, is singing along side Travis King, having recently lost her singing partner she is still grieving, and hates the playboy she is being forced to work with. The pair do what is expected of them on stage but they hate each other. But as they get closer they realise both of them are running from their own demons and realise things aren't always as they appear.

One thing I love about these books is the extended King family. We get to find out how they are all doing, especially Hank King, Travis's father and king of the country music world. It's an all star cast and the book continues to show family support and loyalty. I really enjoyed this instalment and look forwards to more in the future.

What a totally engaging book from new to me author Sasha Summers. "Country Music Cowboy" is a captivating read right from the beginning. The two primary characters are popular country music singers with tremendous talent. Loretta Gram was recently part of a dynamic duo, and now she is hoping to go solo or find a new musical connection. Travis King is one third of a trio with his twin sisters, and his dad is a country music legend. Loretta and Travis share an amazing chemistry when they perform together, which slowly evolves into much more after the performance ends.

I liked this book, although I wish it had a little more romance. Loretta and Travis were easy to get to know and the secondary characters were very interesting. The highs and lows of the country music industry was entertaining, as well as eye-opening. With the exception of Travis's manipulating mother, the way the King family cared for each other was inspiring. This is the fifth book from the Kings of Country series and it can be enjoyed as a standalone. I can't wait to read Sawyer's story, (Travis's bodyguard).

This is my first book by this author and I loved it!

Travis and Loretta were great characters to get to know. Their stories were unique but highly emotional. I loved watching them connect over their love of music and shared heartache, even if the source of their pain came from different experiences. I especially enjoyed seeing how Loretta's assumptions about Travis were disproved the more time she spent with him.

I appreciated the author's way of bringing these two together in a believable, realistic way even while they were immersed in the music industry. From enemies, to friends, to lovers--their journey was sweet, emotional and filled with passion. The were funny moments, plenty of candid interactions and chemistry in abundance. I loved it!

Although this is the third book in the series, it can be read as a stand alone. I have not read the previous book in the series and was able to enjoy this one immensely. The author's main focus was on Travis and Loretta's story and she gave plenty of backstory for the reader to follow along without any problems.

All in all, a fantastic romantic read.
