This book is a fun read with a local taste. It feels like I am walking down the streets of the city I grew up in, but not quite the way I remember it. A reimagining of home with a nostalgia feel. The stories were well paced, some thrilling, some touching, some frightening. My personal favorites were Madness in the Falls and Glories of War.

memories in the Fog poem 3.5*
- Not much to say about this, it's the poem that sets the mood for the rest of the book.

coffee shop outing 4*
- I had expected this story to be more compassionate and a good redemption story, but I liked how it went much more.

That summer when 3*
- There is nothing that I found wrong with the story. I just know that there was a better piece that was slightly too long for the books, so it wasn't used and that makes it hard to mark it very high.

what happened to Jansher 4.5*
- The story writing is powerful, and the story is a good one. It has its roots in a truer place than most of this story. The only reason I did not give this one a full 5 *'s is that I feel it missed its mark for Saint John content, where the majority of the stories are very much Saint John this one doesn't give that feeling, it could have been anywhere.

Stormy love 5*
- This story is very much the Shani experience, tamer than most of what she writes, this one shows a softer side but it still has a convoluted path to a love that to an outsider it looks like it could be easily resolved. But the characters have their reasons for doing what they do.

Early edition 5*
- For a first-time writer this was a great story out of the gate. Susan is a joy to work with. Finding someone more positive is not an easy thing to do and she made this story come together. When you look at the pieces of the story one by one they don't seem to fit, she makes them and it comes off as charmingly quirky, just like her. I love the fact that she set it up so you can get to know a new set of characters by the end of the story.

The last letter 5*
- Keep a kleenex close, you will want it by the time you're done. The story is a sad one, but it's also one of closure. Although Carol brings tears to your eyes, the story and situation would be a gift to anyone in that situation.

Topaz in Wisteria 5*
- This is another tear-jerker. There is sadness and beauty in this story. How long can love last when your memories are gone? Read this story and be ready to cry.

Madness in the falls 5*
- Greg will always stand out to me as the strangest of the group of writers. His writing showcases how you should never assume someone's writing style by how they appear. Greg mixes myth and memories with a splash of classical writing to make something completely unique, and with the backdrop of a mental institution, he plays games with the reader.

Loved and tall 2.5 *
- I'll be honest, of all the stories in the book this is the one that I had the most trouble with. I am a fantasy writer when I get my chance but this story, although good for the mix of stories, rubbed me the wrong way from the start. I don't think it suits the memories theme and the Saint John content seems to be something thrown in with no anchoring point just so that it could say it had Saint John content. I felt like it was disconnected and the scene with the checklist was too long for my liking. This is my personal take on it. I know others love this story a lot.

The glory of war 5 *
- I shouldn't be able to rate this one so high because I wrote it, but I sometimes feel like I'll never write anything this good again. Inspired by some almost forgotten homework from a work friend this story took on a life of its own and only took 45 minutes to write.

Audrey 5*
- It's a poem so Saint John content can be forgiven. I laughed when I read it and I think it was the perfect way to close the book. The author is another 1st time published but it won't be the last time she is.

Poetry. Love stories. Horror. Sci-fi. Historical fiction with some nonfiction elements. This book was lovely! It is filled of stories about the city I live in. The way “the fog” is symbolized in each story is wonderful. As a resident of this foggy city these tales were exciting to read. I read stories in between reading my books and really enjoyed every single story. I loved the series of “because the post man died” throughout the book. It was like a story amongst the short stories.

Girlfriend brag: my boyfriend wrote madness in the falls which is my favourite of the stories, but I may be a little biased haha

This is a great collection of short stories and they have another book called “houses in the fog” which j plan to read this year as well 🖤🖤🖤

I read this years ago, but the bookstore's push about earning extra ballots made me review it. I don't remember when I read it, so I'm trying to get the dates as close as possible.

This was probably their best book so far.

Some of the stories were actual memories, and some were not. There is one story in the book that makes no sense at all, but over all, a really good collection.

An intriguing collection of stories and poems that kept my interest until the very end. It’s always fun to read work by local, Atlantic Canadian authors! I will be purchasing the other books of the “In the Fog” collection in the near future.
