I really liked the intro as she gives a good perspective on fueling your body and why it's important to eat calories. I don't consider myself an athlete per say but I do exercise 6-7 days a week so by her definition I suppose I am. I like how she also makes a point to say there is more to food besides numbers and counting and there is a lot of culture and companionship involved as well. I wish she would have broken down macronutrients for the meal plan examples. And which macronutrients to decrease for the deficient for weight loss. The cooking section was so rudimentary it was almost ridiculous. Maybe I overestimate people but for example a paragraph on how to boil water? Lastly,
while she did include the nutrient information for all the recipes, they were at the end. It would have been easier to have them which each recipe. Overall this was a good intro to nutrition and I am excited to try some of the recipes.

Having been in the fitness and nutrition world for a number of years, there was nothing new in terms of information for me. But this is an excellent intro for someone wanting to take control of their nutrition whether they're an athlete or not. The inclusion of recipes is especially helpful so a person starting their new nutrition routine isn't stumbling in the dark trying to apply the principles in the first few sections.

I'm also just a sucker for good recipe books.

Great content but probably not enough information to really generate a meal plan for an athlete- at least calorie wise. I use precision nutrition to calculate my calorie and macro needs.
I like the smoothies. Some of the other recipes are bland. If you’re looking for a starting point or some tips on cooking healthy when pressed for time, this book will help.
My only real complaint is, where’s the beef??

I didn’t love the recipes but the information provided in the first half was super informative. Particularly the note about dehydration and intratraining nutrition. I weighed myself before and after my workout and saw a 3lb difference and definitely felt the effects of dehydration.

Excellent book covering all the basics (Nutrition, Meal Planning, and Recipes). Gives the reader a good start in how to handle each area and also provides a good variety in all types of food for meal prep.
