Mama Lorraine can hardly believe her eyes when the application comes across her screen. Applications to adopt are strictly by invitation to apply, so someone had to have given this man a link to the Agency's secure web application portal. A glance at the password tells her it was none other than her good friend Richard, though the name of the applicant does not yield a clue about the vampire business until she does an internet search.
Charles de Lioncourt aka Bela La Fangue. Syndicated late night weekend B movie host and the new star of Showflix's hit new streaming series, Holiday to Die For, playing a master vampire moonlighting as a police detective on a small island in the Bahamas.
He's finally made it, financially secure enough that he can not only support himself, but another in style. Just anyone will not do, though. He needs the right Boy to love and share some of the limelight with. Someone who loves the spooky stuff as much as he does.
It's a good thing he has Mama on his side. As always she knows just the Little he'll be go batty for.
Adam Lewinski was used to being considered a weird kid. He was seen as a strange guy while still in school and the other Littles find him a bit on the odd side. He'd rather play zombies than tag, to pretend that the dolls are climbing out of their graves than dress them up, and action figures are for saving everyone from the Army of Evil Dead. Just any Papa won’t do. He needs someone who will love his sense of the macabre and join in on his fun.
✎ Edit 1: I was not fair with the review, I believe the audio errors were a big influence, the disappointment made me not connect with the story, I don’t think it was fair, so I gave another chance to the book and I’ll rate separately from the audio part.
✎ Edit 2: Yep, the audio was so disappointing that influenced my review, fortunately that can be rectified.
✏ Loved the story, it was playful, light and jovial, Mamma Lorraine was back again, she’s definitely one of my favourite characters, a new addition to this universe, in this book to be precise, was Cassie, such a fun character, the main characters were just perfect for this Halloween atmosphere, the intime scenes were steamy and the romantic moments were dripping with love!!! Sadly the audio turned me off so much that I didn’t connected the first time I read and listened. The concept was refreshing and comical, I truly enjoyed this book! Congratulations to A. Little!!!!
❌ Major error with the recordings, chapter 15 was chapter 1 and 2 all over again, there was no chapter 15 in the recordings, luckily I have the paperback and I read the chapter, this missing chapter was not a big loss. Although I'm usually very positive with my critiques, that kind of flaw is very disappointing as a consumer. At least the narrator should be more careful with his job, the author should be more aware of his baby's records, and the website should pay more attention to the products that provide.
⏯ I don't hear improvement from Owen Samuels, the emotions were still inaccurate, the book pauses were not respected, he has a beautiful voice, and I noticed glimpses of great acting but the narration was really dreary in this particular book. In Chapter 14 for example: ❄︎ It was written that a character spoke drily, but not the narrator ❄︎ “The dog on the beach” it was the perfect intention ❄︎ Then “Come on, come on” it was sooooo wrong the emotion I got the feeling that he was rushing the narration, maybe he couldn’t wait to finish this book… He can do better as it was verified in previous stories.
This book and the first one were the best of the lot. Minimal errors and a bit more to the story itself. 3 and a half stars, rounded up to 4 for the whole series.
Adam is a really naughty little Middle. He is constantly removing the heads from the dolls in the nursery at the Agency and making spooky moves that are not only frightening the other Little, but also annoying the crap out of them. Adam is going to be very hard to adopt out as he's into zombies, vampires and the undead in a huge way and he will need someone very special for him to be happy in his forever home. But in true Mama Lorraine style - she has just the right person. Charles de Lioncourt - vampire actor also known as Bela Le Fangue who has been waiting for his Little for quite some time. This story was so delightful as we got to see something totally different from the Littles that Mama Lorraine usually has to deal with. A Little has a rear talent to draw the reader into the stories and that's why this author is near the top of my favorite author's list. Highly recommended read
Not only do we have such a cool middle but his Daddy is pretty awesome too. I like how the agency and other littles handled a middle who is not exactly like them. Well except for that one part but Mama Lorraine handled that perfectly. What a great marathon read this series has been. And this one had the least little bits that needed to be edited.
I didn’t like the daddy in this book. He didn’t feel like a real person and he didn’t seem to have time for a little. And can we talk about his height? I don’t think people know how tall 6’8 is. That’s like Shaq or Andre the giant. And a guy that tall dressed like panama Jack would get lots of looks and comments. It made no sense.
There was almost no time spent together between the papa and the little. He may as well have been just a groupie, for how little they get to know each other.
I thought this was the best of the series. Adam made this book for me--he was such a different type of character. I loved the author describing his zombie play with his friend at the care center. Good story and was glad that Mama could find him his perfect Daddy. Recommend reading.
