Spring Unveiled

Rate this book
Is a bittersweet tragedy enough to bring exes back together?

Navy Captain Evan Hubbard returns to the West Coast to take command of Group 1 Navy SEALs at Coronado. His mission to clean up the team’s tarnished reputation. When a sex trafficking ring involving SEALs comes to light, Evan must decide who he can trust to help him clean house and restore honor and pride. Before he can get started, an unexpected phone call with his college-age daughter and his ex-wife throws his personal life into chaos.

Genevieve Hubbard has spent the last twenty-one years as a schoolteacher, nine as a single-mom after her decision not to follow her husband’s career to the other side of the country. While she never stopped loving her ex-husband, she’s made a life for herself that doesn’t include him.

Their daughter has been keeping secrets—the father’s identity from Genevieve, and her pregnancy from Evan. When tragedy strikes shortly after the baby is born, Evan and Genevieve must work together to do what is best for everyone. Will they find love again, or will they lose everything that is precious to them?

A bittersweet story of loss, regret, hope and second chances. I thought it would make me very sad and although I teared up in places the overwhelming feeling I got was hope for the future. It was a relatively quick but enjoyable read, definitely with a sense of this being the first in a series with more to come as there are still many questions to be answered about the sex trafficking ring. A well written story with what could have been a difficult subject handled sensitively, the plot regarding the sex trafficking ring is interesting and provides a good element of intrigue, the series is based round seasoned characters and also features well-loved Seals from Susan Stoker’s SEAL of Protection Series, add in some new younger Seals and a baby what is not to like?

Navy Captain Evan Hubbard always put his career as a Navy Seal first and family second, when he transferred across country for his career Genevieve Hubbard chose to stop being second and not to follow him, staying in Coronado, their marriage ending in divorce. Newly promoted Evan is back in Coronado to take command of Seal Group 1 and on a mission to clean up their tainted reputation. Just as he arrives Evan discovers his daughter Kylie has gone into labour following a pregnancy she had kept secret from him, she is also keeping the identity of the baby’s father a closely guarded secret from both her parents. When tragedy strikes the past and choices they made are put into stark perspective for both Genevieve and Evan. Can they work together to hold onto their fragile family and give their love a second chance?

I received an arc from the author and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

OMG You will need tissue because you will cry but there are times you will also laugh too. You will also wonder all through the book if they will ever find out who the baby daddy is and what will happen with the baby if they do.

Evan and Genevieve divorced because she would not move across the country with him to further his career in the Navy. He only say his daughter Kylie a few times a year but talked to her often. Now he is promoted to Captain and is back in Coronado for only a few hours when he finds out his pregnant daughter is in labor. But then all of a sudden Kylie is gone and they have to take care of the baby themselves because Kylie refused to tell her mom who the daddy was. Genevieve is skeptical that Evan will be there for her and the baby because he never was for her with Kylie. Will Evan prove to her that he is really in this equally? How will they find the baby daddy and what will they lose Ian if they do find him? Will they get second chance at the love they had before and do they even want to have that second chance?

Captain Evan Hubbard was surprised how quickly his promotion came through and the swiftness of his transport to San Diego. He's to take command of SEAL group 1 effective immediately. There's a lot of cleaning up to do none of which will be pleasant.

Moving back to the west coast brings back a lot of memories. His ex-wife still lives there with his daughter Kylie and he's hoping to get close to them again.

Genevieve still lives in the house she once shared with Evan. Kylie is now living there full time having returned from college pregnant and scared. Genevieve is driving Kylie to the hospital, when Evan calls his daughter. There's just one little thing, Kylie never told him she's pregnant.

Evan meets them at the hospital and helps smooth things over since everyone perked up when he walked in. Kylie hits them with a bit of a bombshell when she lets them know she's planning on adoption. She does concede to wait twenty-four hours before finalizing anything. Both Evan and Gen are more than willing to help raise the grandchild. Then the unthinkable happens.

This is where I start crying and don't stop for a while. Kylie's death devastates her parents, but there's a child who needs love and care.

Evan and Gen immediately start things in motion to get custody of their grandchild. No way would they let Ian go to a foster home. Even on bereavement leave, Evan starts things in motion to clean up his SEALs.

I found it interesting when Evan discovers who the father of his grandchild is. The circumstances of Dylan's break up with Kylie not an uncommon thought for a SEAL.

There is so much that happens in this book, from Baby Ian, to identifying SEALs involved in shady business, to Evan and Gen falling in love again.

I really can't wait for the next book in this series, I hope the wait is not too long.

This story is the beginning of the author’s new series, Seasoned SEALs. Stories about older and more experienced SEALs and the lives they lead.
Navy Captain Evan Hubbard, is one of these men. A man whose marriage nine years ago ended because of his job. His promotion took him to the East Coast and his ex and daughter stayed in Coronado. But a promotion brings him back as commander of Group 1 Navy SEALs.
Genevieve Hubbard never stopped loving her husband, but his career and his lack of involvement in their lives caused friction and the end of the marriage.
When tragedy comes to their lives, they become a united front. Will that tragedy bring them together?
While they are dealing with their pain, Evan is also busy at work where he’s assigned to find out which SEALs are involved in human trafficking. Men that are supposed to be exemplary individuals are tarnishing their prestigious branch .
All in all , a story that is thought provoking in many ways. On the family side, it deals with the complexities military families face, as well as the effects of the loss of a love one.
On the other, a reminder that sadly, human trafficking is very real and happening in our country.
The ending leaves a copy of questions unanswered and I suspect it will be a theme that will continue throughout the series.
My only con of the story is that in the first chapter many characters were mentioned which I suspect were main characters in previous stories not only of this author but also of the author Susan Stoker. If like me, you have not read their stories, it was a little confusing , making me take a bit the get engaged in the story.
That said, this first book was a great beginning for the series.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

This! This is what I would call a ten star read. Loved every word even though it tore me apart at times. An older couple given a second chance, they never stopped loving each other. Evan and Genevieve or ViVi, as he affectionately called her had split many years ago. Of that union, they had their beautiful daughter, Kylie.
When Evan is transferred back to California, he's stoked at his promotion, AND he would get to spend more time with his adult daughter, and be near ViVi again, he wasn't sure if that would be good or bad.
Fate doesn't always play by the rules, you don't always get what you want, but out of bad, something so good can come along to make the bad ... bearable maybe?
I am crying again as I write this, and yes, there is a very happy ending. But the journey, omgawd, to say it ran the gamut of emotions is putting it mildly, to run with those emotions at the same time is memorable for me, and that IS putting it mildly. Wow!
I cannot reveal any spoilers, oh but how I want to. The main story of Evan and ViVi had me sighing, happy and relieved, and so dang proud of them-yes, I know it's fiction, but felt real to me, every last word. Full of surprises too!
This has a background story involving sex trafficking and the military which had me sitting up straight and holding my breath. Since this is the first of a brand new series, I will assume there may be more to this and I look forward to reading more of this whole series.
Ms Cooper knocked this one way beyond the park and I can't help but wonder if she was emotionally drained after penning Spring Unveiled.

A very pleasant read during these transitional times…

I found this story to be quite enjoyable. There were a lot of names to keep track of at first but I just went with the flow and did not allow that to deter me.
I don’t believe in coincidences, so every aspect of the plot had a purpose and the outcome was meant to be. Despite a little shock and awe that may pull at your heart strings, it was comforting to see how everything came together. Thus, a reader should not be disappointed unless you are expecting great adventure or suspense as found in other books about SEALS.

Since this is Book #1 of a new series, it is setting the stage for what may come.
It is introducing readers to the main characters and their developing relationships, as well as the SEAL team #1 and what is expected of them. I thought it was well-written and very believable. The characters were honest and upfront. Thus, the author does not attempt to drag out the story with misunderstandings and deception. Instead, we get to know of their feelings and thoughts beforehand and can appreciate their direct yet sensitive communication. I’m looking ahead to read more of Seasoned SEALS - perhaps, there may be a bit more mystery and adventure to take my review over the top.
I received and arc and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Spring Unveiled is the first book in KaLyn Cooper’s four-part Seasoned Seals saga and detonates in a heartbreaking, disturbing and suspense laden story that sets the pace for what I’m sure will be an explosive and thoroughly addictive series. When Evan Hubbard returns to Coronado, he never expects that an investigation into corruption within the ranks of the men he holds above all others and a devastating loss, will offer a second chance with the woman who has never released his heart.

As this compelling and dangerous story unfolds, SEALs will be held accountable, while innocents are rescued from the hands of evil and profiteering individuals who how them captive, and a babe just starting his life will be treasured above all else as love once again finds a way to overcome adversity. Ms Cooper has penned a heartfelt story that highlights strength and courage under extreme circumstances and the ability to rise above tragedy and find happiness at the end of a very dark tunnel.

For me this story was about hope and knowing that life is too short to let happiness slip through your fingers, a young SEAL finding a family he didn’t know existed and support he never could have expected and opening your eyes to the weakness of men and their depravities. I’m already addicted to this series and can’t wait to discover the identity of the mastermind known only as Big Daddy.

Spring UnVeiled: Special Forces: Operation Alpha: Seasoned SEALs Book1 is by Kalyn Cooper. This new series involved more of the top-ranking officials of the SEALs. They are SEALs themselves, but sometimes forget it.
Captain Evan Hubbard has returned to San Diego to take command of Group 1 Navy SEALs in Coronado. The team here in San Diego has wrecked its reputation and it is his duty to clean it up. Some of the SEALs have become involved with a sex trafficking ring. He is also returning to be closer to his daughter, Kylie, and his ex-wife Vivi.
He hasn’t been in town a full day when he gets a call from Kylie. She and her mother are on their way to the hospital as Kylie is having her baby. Wait! His daughter is having a baby? When were they planning on telling him? Then, before Kylie goes into delivery, she tells them that her son is going to be adopted and no, the father does not know. Evan and Vivi are united on their devotion to Kylie and their desire to help her keep their grandson. They want her to think more about it. That night, Kylie holds Ian for the first time and falls in love with him. Her decision is made. She sends a text to her parents telling them she changed her mind. She is keeping Ian. She puts him in his crib and heads to her own bed and falls asleep for the last time.

Spring Unveiled is a spectacular romantic suspense by KaLyn Cooper. Ms. Cooper once more delivers a well-written story. This story has less action than some of her other books, but the suspense is plentiful. The characters in this book are second to none, I totally love them. Captain Evan Hubbard is leaving his Virginia assignment to return to Coronado, where his ex-wife and daughter still live. As soon as he arrives he's handed a mess to clean up by his Vice Admiral. Genevieve was leaving her job when her daughter called her to come straight home, only to arrive to be informed her daughter is in labor. They inform Evan over on the way to the hospital that he's about to become a grandfather. Genevieve and Evan's story is packed with drama, humor, spice and lots of suspense. Readers beware, you may need a tissue or two for this one. I loved this book and look forward to my next book by KaLyn Cooper. Spring Unveiled is book 1 of the Seasoned SEALs Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from Bookfunnel. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

KayLyn Cooper always take her readers on a journey and what a journey this was. I had to read this in one sitting (sorry family). I must say this was one of the best second chances books that I have read. I also hope this is the beginning of a new series because it promises to be a doozy! I must say I was caught off guard by the tragedy because I thought one thing would happen and the total opposite did and was unprepared -- which is always a good thing for reading purposes. I loved both Evan and Vivi's characters and was glad that they had matured and realized they both played a role in the demise of their marriage. I was also ecstatic that they both realized they still loved one another and wanted to marry again. Evan was extremely supportive and showed up which was exactly what Vivi needed to see and feel. I also loved Dylan's character and was very happy that he manned up. I love books with seasoned characters in them because I know I am reading about possibilities for folks my age. It's great to read and I know my friends and I are avid readers and there is an audience for more of these types of books. I highly recommend this book.

Readers that are regular followers of KaLyn Cooper will find this book to be a bit different, however, just as wonderful as her other books! Be sure to have tissues ready if you care about your characters.
Evan and Genevieve married quite some time ago and had a daughter at a young age. When Evan was transferred to the East coast Genevieve thought it was a good time to end their marriage for what she felt was lack of interest on Evan's part.
Well Evan is back in Coronado after being promoted to Captain and has high hopes to at least be in the lives of his daughter and ex-wife. A phone call to his daughter on the evening of his arrival sets many things in motion that weren't planned on or welcome. On top of his personal life Evan finds he has a huge SEAL mess that needs to be cleaned up. Will he be able to live the life he planned on?
There is a bit of a cliffhanger at the end that leads into the next release in this series.
I have voluntarily read and reviewed this book in exchange for an advance copy.

I received this ARC and here is my honest review. This is a story about love, loss and second chances. Have plenty of tissues ready, you're going to need them. Navy Captain Evan Hilliard and his ex- wife divorced nine years ago. They have a daughter named Kylie. Evan was selfishly focused on his career and took his family for granted. He takes a job on the East coast without consulting his wife, Genevieve. For her, this is the last straw. They divorce and Evan only sees his daughter on his designated holidays and whenever he's not going on missions. Evan is unexpectedly asked to take over a SEAL team on the West coast due to some major problems on the base. He and Genevieve suffer a heartbreaking loss. Can they weather the storm together and get the HEA they deserve? Get this book ASAP and find out. I promise you won't regret it. Sorry, no spoilers.

Emotional Family & Second Chance Story!!

Captain Evan Hubbard in moving back to the west coast. When things got tough his wife and daughter stayed behind. He moved to the east coast and his next assignment and to further his career. He will be back where he can work to reconnect and take on a special assignment.

This military mission is close to home. Not overseas, and not just in the US. But within this particular base. Who can be trusted aEx-wife Genevieve doesn’t know he is back until tragedy occurs. Can she trust that Evan will be there to handle the fall-out? Should she have moved with him all those years ago?
nd who is a part of the illegalities taking place.

A terrific story on many levels. You may want to have tissues handy. Super emotional, and super good.

A wonderful first book in the new Seasoned Seals Series finds Navy Captain Hubbard returning to the base where his ex-wife and daughter resides. Upon his arrival, he is told that some of the people under his new command are involved in criminal activity. Determined to reconnect with his daughter, tragedy strikes and he and his ex-wife find themselves banding together for the sake of their family. This is a story of second chances, hope, tragedy, mystery, and family. The author handles the subject matter with sensitivity and compassion. I look forward to the next book in this series. I received this as an ARC and voluntarily give my review.

This is one that will break your heart, excite and intrigue you, and leave you smiling toward the end. It’s a captivating 2nd chance romance that will bring you to tears, tug hard at your heartstrings, hold your attention, and have you anxious for what’s coming next in the series and the underlying storyline. Evan and Gen are appealing as a couple as they rediscover, even in the midst of such devastating personal loss, their deep feelings for each other and the marriage that they both thought they left behind. The story is very easy to become immersed in and hard to put down. It’ll bring out all the feels and pique your interest in where the intriguing storyline will lead.

Navy Captain Evan Hubbard and teacher Genevieve Hubbard are divorced.
A little bundle of love brings them back together.
Unlike many of KaLyn Cooper's books that have overseas action, Spring Unveiled is based in the U.S.
I enjoyed the plot, although it didn't have the action or suspense I've anticipated as a new reader of KaLyn Cooper's book. Given the sub-plots, this approach by the author makes sense as KaLyn Cooper focuses on the characters and the changes and new roles in the lives of Evan and Genevieve.
A second chance romance and seasoned romance that is not dominated by sex scenes.
Some swearing.
Book one in the Seasoned SEALS series.

A new series from KaLyn Cooper and in Susan stokers world. What a great start in this first book. I must admit that I had a few tears in my eyes as I read this book. Evan Hubbard has come back home to be in charge of Group 1 and to see his daughter. Unbeknownst to him, his daughter has a secret and it’s about time to tell him. Genevieve is the ex wife but she still loves her ex husband. A tragedy happens and Genevieve and Evan are thrown together to care and help someone close. There is also an underlying investigation going on as well which was also full of twists and turns. Loved this book. Can’t wait for more.

This is the start of a new series and as such there are a number of new characters that we get introduced to. Aside from the two main characters, I must say that I loved the character Marta Merkel. The story will take you through a range of emotions - from anger at sex trafficking, sadness at a death, joy of the birth of a baby, and happiness for a second chance at a relationship. Although Evan and Genevieve have been divorced for 9 years, they've never stopped loving each other. This becomes apparent when tragedy strikes their family and they lean on each other. This is a definite must read.

Spring Unveiled

Wow! KaLyn did a fantastic job on this story! OMG! The beginning was so sad! This story is about Evan and ViVi. The story starts out kind of happy with the birth of their grandson but the same day ends in tragedy. The new post for Evan is back on his old stomping grounds but as a new leader. When they finally find out who the father is of their grandson, they reluctantly accept him as family with the bonus of keeping their grandson in their lives. The operation was almost a success but the big guy got away. So happy this couple is getting a second chance. FANTASTIC job KaLyn! I would recommend this book!

First, I ugly cried through most of this book
Second, I binged and finished it in a day
Third, I can't wait for the next book

Can two people who've been divorced for years make their way back to one another? Throw in an unexpected tragedy and surprise baby to complicate the situation.
Evan and Genevieve haven't seen each other since he left for the east coast after taking a promotion without consulting her first. After years of being left alone while he climbed the ranks, Gen decided she was done being second. 9 years later Evan is back, but is it too late to rekindle what they once had.

Emotional and Heartfelt.

I loved this second chance romance (though it was a bit of a tearjerker). Rather than tragedy tearing ex-husband and wife, Evan and Genevieve further apart it brings them closer together. As well as a delightful romance (and a cute baby) there is a sex trafficking ring to bring down and Seal reputations to be repaired. Note: The villain of the piece will not be caught until later in the series.

Evan and Genevieve's story is the start of a new series and what a way to start! When Evan returns home to start his new job, his in for lots of surprises. He's never gotten over his ex-wife and is feeling the loss of time missed with his daughter. Before he can even begin his new job, tragedy strikes for his family. As he navigates the tragedy and tries to be there for his ex-wife, his new job heats up as well as they start investigating some of their own. I don't want to give you spoilers so I'll just say, you want to read this! I read it in one sitting, I couldn't put it down!

Spring Unveiled (Special Forces )

This was an interesting story. It was about the Navy Seals. Genivivee was a Seals wife at one time. Kylee was her daughter and pregnant. Evan was her husband and had just been promoted and returned to California base. This story is very involved from discovering human trafficking on the base, even involving higher up officers. Also, Kylee going to the hospital and Vivi calling Evan and letting him know they were on the way to the hospital. Excitement with every page turned.

Excellent book that will break your heart. Evan and Genevieve had their time 9 years ago when she decided to divorce him. But they still love each other and their daughter. When he's promoted and moves back to the base in their home base where they lived, he's not only there to work a job but try to repair things with his family. You better have the tissues ready cause this book will break your heart. HEA.

This is a very emotional book. Genevieve and Evan where married and she divorces him instead of moving to the east coast for him. Evan moves back to the west coast where he is now based and hopes to be in his daughters life more. He also wants to see Genevieve who he still loves. This book has so many emotions, surprises, starting over and overcoming something a parent never wants to have to do. This book will break your heart but, will also help to mend it too.

Spring Unveiled is a great new series by KaLyn Cooper. It is written in the Susan Stoker Seal world. It is a great second chance romance with lots of page turning suspense. I could not put the book down. I was up until 2am reading it! I loved the characters. It does have some very sad moments. So don’t read this at lunch. Love overcome obstacles. So it is all worth it. I can’t wait to see what happens in the plot next!

This was such a sad story, yet very uplifting as well. You can read the blurb to get the gist of the story. I think the characters are outstanding and interesting. I love that the main characters are a bit older and are a bit more set5led, yet still have some insecurities. I love how this story came together. Plus, there is still a bit of a mystery out there that I’m sure will be tackled in future books. Great start to a new series!

Wow a great book

This is not only a 2nd chance romance but a seasoned SEAL and his ex. Heart wrenching story for Evan and Vivi in the beginning, with some intrigue that is introduced to a Seal Team we have learned about previously. As a new Captain Evan has walked into not only a personal situation that causes him to relook his life but also into a very tricky scenario involving some Seals under his new command. Wonderful start to what is to be a new series.

A nice, second chance romance is the background for an ugly, human trafficking story. SEAL 's, MPs, officers and non-coms all play in when a brothel is brought down. A captain who is newly promoted and transferred back to Coronado finds his ex-wife and daughter there. When tragedy strikes, the captain and his wife find themselves taking on a new reality. Remarriage is the least surprising thing that happens.
