They healed my broken heart... He has the power to break it.
At five, I almost lost the battle. All alone, fighting for my life molded me into the person I am today. Surviving led me to the family I always wanted and the soul sisters I desperately needed. Without them, I don't know where I would be. With them, he was entwined into my world.
Until he left.
Now he's back.
He's my best friend's older brother, so I should stay away, but the pull is undeniable. At twenty-four, I want to risk a piece of me I never have before. But will the uncertainty of the future, and what I may not be able to give him, make me lose the only man who's ever touched my heart or wanted to risk it?
C.M. Youngren is an author of swoon-worthy contemporary romance whose dream in life is to own a bookstore slash coffee shop. She lives in Oregon with her husband, two daughters, and her herd of animals. She loves 80’s music, movies, reading, and adores singing regardless if she can hold a tune or not. Hopelessly addicted to watching The Voice, driving her best friend crazy, and eating tacos are some of her favorite things.
I don't think I've ever anticipated a book as much I did this one, and let me tell you - I was not disappointed to dive into C.M.'s debut novel. I mean, talk about an emotional rollercoaster. My hurt broke multiple times throughout this story - for Jurnee, for Embry, and for Gemma too.
But let me tell you, I smiled a lot more than I cried thanks to Jurnee's two best friends (one who is a total sweetheart, and one is a sass mouth that I fell in love with the moment we met her), the unbreakable bonds that all the characters shared, and Jurnee's hilarious antics.
And Braxton... sigh.
If you love sweet, sensitive heroes who don't keep their heroines on a leash, then look no further! I loved watching his character transform and the steadfast love he had for Jurnee, even when she wavered and struggled with the path she wanted to take (which was completely understandable given the situation, I might add).
Seriously, if you're looking for a fragile badass of a heroine who is still fighting against her fears and demons, along with a gentle giant of a hero who holds her hand through all of the dark times, and a cute-as-a-button four-year-old who will steal your heart, plus a handful of secondary characters that will make you laugh and crave their stories, then grab this book now while the rest of us not-so-patiently wait for Summer and Alley's books to be published—Gemma and Kace's too!
For a first time author Christina did an amazing job! I felt the pull of the characters emotions and the heart break they experienced. Cannot wait to see more from this author!
Entwined Souls is the first effort from new author C.M. Youngren. This author understands the necessity of good character development. Entwined Souls centers on the story of Jurnee and Braxton. Jurnee is a beautiful soul who lives with Summer and Alley, her two best friends since Junior High School. Braxton is Alley’s older brother who went into the military in order to be able to support his little sister. Our story begins with Braxton’s return after leaving the service. While people may term this story as insta-love it is important to remember that these characters have a history together, with an underlying friendship which blossoms into the relationship which is the heart of this story. There are still many things they have to learn about each other and circumstances from their past keep creating issues in their relationship, but as always love prevails. While this is the first book in a series, the story is a standalone story with just a foreshadowing of what is next to come in the series. I cannot wait for the next book in this series.
I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I was expecting an enjoyable (and maybe a tad angsty) read, but I was NOT prepared for the emotional story that Jurnee and Braxton gave me. They had a lot swirling around them, but it only served to add to the beauty of their ride to happy in the end. Through it all, Braxton was a rock and refused to let Jurnee run scared, which was exactly what she needed.
This is CM’s debut and I found myself questioning just how she can top it with her next book, but I have faith. Especially since I fell into Jurnee’s mind and heart within the first chapter, then found myself doing it just as easily with Braxton’s POV. Thanks to being sucked in so completely, I expect I’ll do the same with the next book in this series. Add a group of fantastic friends to the mix and there’s potential for an incredible series here. This author manages to balance the sour with the sweet and the misery with the pure happiness oh so wonderfully, so I’m sure more great stories will be coming from her mind.
If you’re looking for a new author for 2021 here she is.... what an amazing debut series ❤️
Love, angst, laughter, sadness, happiness & every emotion in between...
Two kids with hard lives & sad memories of growing up join souls & an unexpected love as adults, making new happy memories.
CM Youngren nailed a strong back story for Jurnee & Braxton the main characters but also the other characters so it makes you want to read the next book..

This is the debut book of a brand new author and what a book this was Jurnee was raised as a foster child when her birth mom abandoned her when she was fighting cancer as a little girl .. When she was 12 she was adopted and loved finally ...Now on her first day at school she made eye contact with Braxton and developed a mad crush on him.... but she also met her soul sisters Alley who is Braxton little sister and Summer who is Landon little sister .... Now Jurnee attends Braxton welcome back party at the bar and when Braxton sees Jurnee he knows she is the one now when Jurnee sees him she gets tongue tied and blurts out I got to pee lol.... She in the restroom and all hell breaks loose in the bar by a drunk guy with a gun what happens next sets the story and I dont want to post spoilers but there is a four old girl named Embry that Jurnee is attached too and feels in her heart she was meant to be her mom.... things happen be ready to laugh cry make sure to have a box of tissues .... I just loved this and cant wait for Summer story... I voluntarily read an arc
This was a good read!! It does get a bit wordy, one part was just too much in general, and the writing seemed a bit muddy (like the Author was trying too hard to remember to mention something), but Braxton and Jurnee were perfect and Embry was just too adorable. Definitely worth the read and I can't wait for the others!
“We will walk the paths together now, and wherever the road leads, I will always be by your side.”
This is Christina’s debut novel. I absolutely loved her courage to put herself out there and to publish her first novel. This novel is chunked full of new characters that we get the honor to meet. The hero and heroine aren’t the only ones keeping us on our toes during this novel. No, we get to meet plenty of their new and lifetime friends: Summer, Alley, Landon, Gyth, Kace, Gemma, and one very special little girl, Embry. Along the way Jurnee and Braxton show us how love and patience can conquer all. Their road to happiness is long, tiring but in the end very rewarding. Jurnee is going to test Braxton’s patience but in the end Braxton is going to prove to Jurnee the one lesson she has never learned, that unconditional love is real and she can have it if she just learns to trust in him, in them.
This is a novel I truly will never forget, the characters are entertaining and Braxton is unlike any alpha male I’ve ever read about before...and precious little Embry is the star of the show...such a cutie!
So sit down, buckle up and get ready for a read that you’ve never anticipated before...because here comes Summer and Gyth up next...these characters are about to turn our worlds upside down!
What can I say? Such a beautiful story! This is the first book by this author, and she has taken her readers on a journey filled with amazing love, and a friendship for the ages. I highly recommend this book if you want a story that hits you right in the feels. I am very much looking forward to the next one.
WOW!!! What a brilliant debut book. I love Brax and Jurnee . The love these two have for one another is beautiful. Throw in a tragic childhood, best friends , a crazy drugged father wanting to hurt his daughter and you have a book that I’d highly recommend reading. I can’t wait for the next book.
This is the first book by this author I've read. I loved the writing style, the story line and the characters, including the side characters. I'd really like to read their stories too. The only reason I don't give five stars is that for my taste there were too many tears and love vows and explanations. I would have preferred this book to be a bit less kitschy and a bit more fast paced. But that's just my taste. I'm still looking forward to hearing from the author again.
Oh my goodness. Where to even start. Entwined souls is an epic rollercoaster adventure. It had me laughing, crying, and on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next. Jurnee had a rough childhood, much more than a lot of people can comprehend so it’s hard for her to let down the walls she’s put in place for her protection. She has a place of business she opened that is near and dear to her heart and came out of a place of longing to help those going through similar situations as she did when she was young. She is brilliant, loving, genuine and pure. She has a huge heart that pours love out to everyone she knows. She try’s not to make promises she can’t keep but there is a certain little one who she would give the world to if given the chance. She has 2 of the best friends a girl could ask for, alley and summer. They are not blood but they are sisters by choice and have been inseparable since they first meet. Then there is Braxton, a mega hunk in all aspects of the word. He’s intelligent, devoted, loyal, and very protective, especially of those he cares about and loves. He is alley’s older brother. He also had a rough life growing up but was determined to make a better life for himself and his sister whom he felt responsible for. Landon is a close friend of his, summers brother. He joined the military and met an amazing group of guys who he became best friends with, Gyth and Kace. These guys are just about as close as the girls. There are erratic instant feelings that come to light. There is a dynamic that can’t be denied and a tragedies to face and obstacles to overcome but they only bring this group closer together. This story is a must read and one that will have your emotions all over the place. I can hardly wait to see where our next journey will take us!!!!
C.M. Youngren did an Amazing job on Entwined Souls! I can’t wait for Summer and Alley’s stories! This story was captivating and kept me pulled in. Definitely pulled on my heartstrings!
I loved the relationship between Jurnee and her friends. They are more like a family. Who doesn’t love a love story involving a childhood crush?! Braxton is everything you want in a book boyfriend. Especially if your in the move for a sweet hero. Very swoony! And Embry! She stole my heart!
For a first book this was incredible. I really enjoyed reading the whole story, it had the perfect amount of everything I love in a book. I absolutely loved all the characters and the storyline itself was incredible. I can't wait to read the next one.
For a first book this was amazing . I enjoyed reading the whole story, it had the perfect amount of everything I love in a book. I absolutely loved all the characters and the storyline itself was incredible. I can't wait to read the next book!
A new must read author! CM Youngren! Well developed characters with such struggles you feel their pain with tears and cheer through triumph over. I thoroughly enjoyed. And highly recommend. *I was given a copy and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
I stumbled across this author by chance and I'm so glad I did! This is a lovely heartwarming story of learning to live and love without fear. I will he reading the next books in this series without doubt.
Loved this book . I have a crush on my best friends brother and he's back and she's no longer his sister little friend she's all women And his. Even if she doesn't know it yet .
What a great debut book for CM Youngren!! Braxton and Jurnee’s story has so many feels, but in a good way! The secondary characters will keep you ready for more! I can’t wait to read the next book!
This story is the start to a new series about three friends and the men in their lives. I really like these characters and can't wait to see where the story goes.
This is a beautifully written story about friends who are always there for each other. Journey and Braxton are perfect. Looking forward to the rest of the series.
This is amazing sweet read that will have your heart melting and have you feeling the love i this story. This story will pull you in tell the very ending.
It's a very cutesy story so far. I'm still waiting for more dramatics to happen. So far, there has been a couple of things happen, but not anything crazy. •At one point, there was a mid-chapter POV change from Jurnee to Braxton where his name was not at the top. Luckily it was easy to determine we had switched POV's. •There is also one time that we are reading from Braxton's POV, but mid-monolouge, it switches briefly to Jurnee's POV. •Again, at 55%, we have a mid-chapter POV change from Brax to Jurnee. And halfway through, we get a Brax POV in the middle. • It was also mentioned that a kiss had ended... but there was nothing about a kiss that started because they were just talking at that point.
Finished. 2.75/5⭐️
It was a very cutesy story. There were some dramatics, but the way it read to me was..... gosh, I don't know how to say it. Maybe very little emotion and feelings.
So in the beginning, Jurnee gets shot at the bar. What should have felt like, 'crazy person with a gun, OMG!' was more like 'oh, she was shot, but she's can walk it off.' Very lack-luster.
Then there was Mr. Jenkins. With everything he put Jurnee and Embry through, it felt unfinished. He somehow got into the center even after Braxton had put a system in place, (although other than being buzzed in, I'm not sure what saftey and security there was) and was able to walk in with a gun. We also have no clue what kind of trouble he was in after the "big" incident. As I said, it felt unfinished.
Finally, Summer and Ally. For supposedly being "soul sisters" and telling each other everything, they all had secrets they are keeping from one another.
Will I finish the series? Maybe. Maybe not. Just getting through this one was a struggle for me. I probably should have DNF'd because it wasn't at all what I thought it was going to be.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
So I went back and forth on my rating, but more because I want all the friends stories RIGHT NOW! This is a wonderful debut novel from CM Youngren.
Jurnee and Braxton are those characters we want to route for, characters with a history, characters that need a future.
She was that kid, the one who was in foster care, but ended up adopted. She had leukemia as a child, but went into remission, but the illness was why she ended up in foster care. She ended up meeting his younger sister when she started junior high, and ended up with a crush on him, a crush she knew was going nowhere...
He was one of two kids who had those parents, the ones whose parents paid them no attention, and almost worse all their thoughts and money were spent on themselves. He wanted a better life for himself and his sister, so he went into the military.
Their backstories are so important, and so well thought out... and her friendship with his romance author younger sister is so key... Let me tell you, there are very few times certain terms for the me body can be used in a book, but when used to make the H lose his mind, it absolutely works.
There are scenes in this book where I laughed so hard I was practically crying, and times where I cried so hard I wanted to yell at the author! Seriously, how do you keep putting the readers through so many ups and downs in one poor story? But in the end I got a story I absolutely loved, and now I can’t wait for the next.
What a debut book for CM! I loved it so much! I think I read it in like a day cause I couldn't put it down! What a way to start a series as well. Thank you for starting to write!
So it starts out with Braxton and Jurnee who have known each other since she was 12. Brax was older and also her best friends brother. She never told anyone her crush until later and she finally told his sister, her bestie.
Braxton returns home from the service, and in walks Jurnee into the bar where they're at. He can't keep his eye off her. She's not the girl that he remembers following him and his friends around with his sister. She's so much better than he remembers. Then it happens. Something bad happens at the bar, and he steps in to take care of her. She doesn't think it's real. Can it be real? He is there beside her bed, and in her life how she's always thought it be? She has to pinch herself to see if it's all real.
Can they both get over the fact that he's her besties brother, and she's his little sisters bestie? Can they break the news to Alley, and will she accept it?
What does Alley have up her sleeve? I love the love between these three best friends. The bond they share is amazing! Summer, Alley and Jurnee. What a story!
I couldn't wait to get to the next book for Gyth and Summer either. I loved this book so much!! The characters, the storyline, the twists and turns, was SOOOOO AMAZING!!
Some of my fave quotes: 1. Oh shit. it's not a dream. - I loved when Jurnee figured out that Braxton wasn't going anywhere. 2. I was going to stop at nothing to make her mine. - YES BRAX YES! 3. I love how you had to get JE in there too! Well, it's a given cause her books are the best ever! 4. Okay, I'm fairly sure I'd growled like some wild animal. - LOL! Braxton couldn't help himself! 5. I'm right here in front of you and there will not be anyone else. - I love that Brax realised what he felt for her. 6. Maybe he has to pee. - ROFL!!!!
The author is very creative in the way she wrote the plot of this story. I love how she gives us a small glimpse of Junree past life. How her mother without a word just left her to be adopted. She couldn't understand why? As the years past she learned to love to be accepted by others. We as readers are not provided it enough details on the characters by other authors. They skip does details go straight to romances. We as readers need those details to know more about the character's background what they been through by the time we get to the romance we have an idea about their lives and how they going to experience the moment they fall in love. Jurnee explains a little bit about her two friends how they accept her. How she had a crush on Braxtons when she was younger. Those feelings she had were hiding until he returns from the marines to visit his sister, Alley. How will she handle those feelings towards him will she take a leap forward to be loved by him or take a step back. Will Braxton show those feelings for Jurnee. Will they pass that friend zone. I will recommend this book it deserves more than five stars. I would love to read more books on this author. She did an amazing job writing it
OMG! Reading this book brought forth a variety of emotions and reactions.....laughter, tears, goofy smiles, the gritting of teeth, and finally a happy and very satisfied sigh. Jurnee and Braxton are definitely deserving of a very happily ever after, as is sweet little Embry. Their childhoods were pain-filled and heartbreaking, but both Jurnee and Braxton have managed to move forward and leave any bitterness behind. They both have chosen careers that give back to others, help keep others safe and banish any lingering pain from the past.
I loved the insta-love that flared to life the minute they reconnected after a decade apart. Braxton is the kind of guy any woman would wish for...sexy, protective, honest, and not afraid to be romantic or to show what he is feeling. Jurnee is sweet, courageous, and resilient with her own fierce protective streak and generous heart. Their love story is truly inspiring and captivating. Their friends are also to be admired for their unwavering support and unconditional love they offer each other. I can’t wait to read more about all of them! Well done Christina!
I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
What a Jurnee!! Wow was eagerly awaiting this debut romance from CM Youngren and was not disappointed, not only was i privileged to be chosen to receive and advanced copy i bought the book as well!! Newly returned from serving in the Military ~Braxton was looking forward to spending some time with his little sister and starting up a new business with his Friends/Brothers in Arms, what he didn't expect was Her!! Damn his sisters little friend had grown up and then some!! Follow the Story of Jurnee and Braxton as they deal with all the problems life throws at them!!
"I was going to stop at nothing to make her mine. I just hope Jurnee was ready for me."
I really enjoyed this debut novel from upcoming author C.M. Youngren! What a slam-dunk right out of the gate!!
I loved Jurnee and Braxton's story! I'm sure you had a crush on someone when you were younger, right? The crush on the older boy (or girl) that never really saw you as anything but the kid that followed them around. But, how many of you can say that after a decade or so, that crush was not only reciprocated, but turned into real love and the answer to all your dreams? Well, Jurnee can!!
With both Jurnee and Braxton coming from rough beginnings, their coming together after all those years just seemed meant to be. The things they were never given in their childhood, are now available in abundance! And, what Jurnee thought would be impossible, suddenly is possible! One dream after another become reality at lightning speed!! But, love doesn't follow a time line, does it?
I am really looking forward to the rest of this series and what this author has in store!! I am so excited to watch C.M. blossom into the amazing author she has already proven to be! Well done!!
