I fell in love with storytelling in a rickety childhood treehouse, surrounded by Archie comics and fueled by Jujubes. Since then, the ride has included running drama-class lines with a young Matthew Perry (yes, that Matthew Perry) and auditioning for a musical alongside Alanis Morissette. Spoiler: she got the part. I got the pen.

I’ve since written 24 books—romcoms, time‑travel romances, screenplays, and poetry for people who “don’t think they like poetry” (their words, not mine). More than 400,000 readers have escaped into my worlds of swoony romance, cozy spice, laugh‑out‑loud banter, and the occasional touch of magic.

My mission is simple: to make you laugh, feel, and fall a little in love—whether with my characters, their found families, or the Highlanders who keep stealing the show.

When I’m not writing, you can find me inline skating, cooking and dancing with oven mitts, or attempting to convince one of my cats to take over my marketing. I’m on Instagram, Threads, Substack and Facebook if you want to say hi. Just don’t ask me to audition for anything. I’ve learned my lesson.

Heather Grace Stewart's latest anthology,Caged: New and Selected Poems, is a delight. This talented poet, novelist and photographer has compiled a book which will touch the hearts of many.

As a poet, Heather Grace Stewart seems to be able to take any situation and see deep into its heart. Her work reflects the thoughts and feelings of many of us concerning love for partner and children, loss, the environment, the state of the world in which we all live. In a few lines, she is able to capture a moment, pose thought-provoking questions or urge us to live "in the now".

I find it difficult to choose favourite poems from this collection , but I particularly liked "Caged", inspired by the beautiful tiger on the cover of this book. The three Christmas poems, "This Christmas", "Carry Us, Christmas" and "Christmas Prayer" are apt reminders that the season is not just about partying and busy-ness. I love the poems and short pieces of poetic prose which are about childhood. Some poems are commentaries on how technology has encroached on our ability to truly see the world and the reality of our existence. Others urge us to be ourselves in a world that wishes to mould us. What I appreciate about Heather Grace Stewart's poetry is that she writes from the heart, with love, humour and compassion.

This is a beautifully presented anthology, the poetry and poetic prose interspersed with photographs that inspire. This is a book to treasure; so much within to enjoy and appreciate.

In her latest book, Canadian writer Heather Grace Stewart returns to her roots with a volume of poetry and photography titled “Caged: New and Selected Poems.” It could just as easily be titled “Heart.” Each poem is an exploration, a revelation, a discovery, a celebration, a wringing, tickling or caressing of the human heart.

Celebrating 25 years as a published poet, Ms. Grace Stewart takes the reader on a walk through her life as youngster, daughter, lover, wife, mother and citizen of of not only her beloved Canada (the subject or background of several of the collection’s poems) but the world. And at each stop along the way, she brings you closer so you can not only hear the story she wishes to tell, but close enough to feel its heartbeat. Even the heartbeat warmth she can find surrounding a Twitter tweet.

And so Ms. Grace Stewart observes her twenty-fifth year as a published poet by sharing with readers 100 pieces of verse and prose, illustrated by her own photography. But this celebration in words is a gift to the reader who joins her on this quarter-century journey through the uncaged heart of an artist of great depth, joy and insight.
