Demanding Boss

Rate this book
“Don’t make me regret playing nice.”

He waited, and Vasari wonders if it’s the best decision he’s made.

It’s not.

He can easily snatch her into his possession, force her to understand the length he’d go to keep her, and poison her heart with his questionable love.

He doesn’t.

He has mercy, as much as his perversion can allow.

When he looks at her, he’s not the intimidatingly unattainable Vasari. He’s the incarnation of minacious evil—a volatile presence of calamity.

He has a murderous heart.

This one was a huge disappointment.
I was expecting too much...
Though the introduction had me one foot behind, I still hoped for something on the level of the previous one, not so good, but good anyway.
Quickly, came to the fact that won't be happening, but still a 3 or 3,5 stars was the goal.
Then was the rape scene, and noooooo...
That's too much.
Dubcom is my "thing", rape isn't, and no matter how the author tried to turn around, it's always rape "in my book".
So why 2 stars?
When I should give 1?
If it weren't for that scene, it's not a memorable story, but it's still an ok one, and because of that, 2 stars are in order, it won't be fair less.

Vasari is a dangerous club owner and he wants Emmy. Emmy is to nice and naïve to understand what Vasari has planned for her. When she is in danger, he becomes even more protective. Will she discover the truth or be manipulated to stay under his control? Fast-paced read with intense chemistry, loads of drama, steam and twists and turns. Lots of depth and emotion draw you into the story. I loved it.

*spoilers*

This was not the first book that I’ve read that was written by Celia Crown . I’m really fond of her books so excited to read this when I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout. Here’s my honest review.

Emmy was working at Mr. Vasari’s nightclub. Hero was already smitten at her as he bought the club because of her and gives her high salary. Something happened at the nightclub so Emmy was forced to live with him.

At the first part of the story, i thought Mr. Vasari was quite “normal” hero since I’m kind of used to Celia Crown’s twisted heroes but the way he put the tracker on her and the things he did when the heroine was sleeping was not normal at all. I’m pretty amazed that heroine didn’t wake up with all the things he did to her. What a heavy sleeper!

I kinda wish there’s a scene where heroine visited her mother. I’ve honestly forgotten about her and heroes offer about the medical bills. I believe that’s part of the reason why she was staying with him.

I also hope that she was able to pursue her photography skills. I don’t know why. It’s just me

No OW drama, OM drama, no cheating, there’s violence, virgin heroine, HEA

Book Cover: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

3.75 stars.

the writing leaves something to be desired. there are a lot of errors, like dialogue that doesn't quite make sense within the context. and the fact that the hero's name somtimes is valeri and other times is vasari. but i enjoyed it anyway. the hero is unhinged, which i am so weak for.

This is a dark love story with a happy ever after.

Emmy works for Vasari in his very exclusive night club which he bought from the previous owner and renovated so she would have a safe place to work. He pays close attention to her and if, for example, he notices she has not had enough sleep he sends her home early. He also gives her extremely large bonuses on a regular basis so she can have a safe place to live. He considers her his. Emmy, though, is scared of Vasari and just delivering a drink to him in his office is nerve wracking.

One evening an arrow comes sailing threw the window of the club barely missing Emmy but showering her with glass. Once Vasari checks her over and determines she is not injured he demands she go home with him telling her it would not be safe for her to be alone at her place. It is not really safe for her at his either because once he has her at his place he has no intention of letting her go home. She is such a deep sleeper that he is able to do anything he wants to her while she is asleep and one night he takes advantage of her. She does not even stir.

Emmy is kidnapped by the man who shot the arrow into the nightclub and the reason why is rather shocking. How Vasari was able to track her is even more shocking. No normal man would do what he did.

Emmy was not as naive as she appeared to be. She suspected he was a bad man but she never could catch him acting bad. She only saw the face he presented to her.

This book was a page turner. When I started reading it I could not put it down.

Emmy works at a night club owned by Mr Vasari, a man who strives for dominance and perfection in all he does, and Emmy needs the paycheck and the generous extra bonus money to keep her appartment safe with all her photography equipment in. Emmy is to kind hearted that she often gets taken advantage of thats why when Vasari saw how the previous management of the club treated her, he brought it to keep her safe. Although Emmy feels fear when shes around Vasari  and fear is the last thing Vasari wants his little girl to feel. But how will he get Emmy to see he only wants what's best for her and to keep her safe, and in his bed. When an event occurs it gives Vasari the opportunity to get Emmy alone at his place where a deal is struck. Will Emmy come to regret their deal or will she bend to Vasari's invisble demands. Well written steamy romance, featuring a  manipulation theme. Hot scenes, violence and more!

Dark and has a major trigger....was not for me but others will enjoy it

I have read a number of Celia Crown's books and even though she can write darker tropes I usually enjoy them. Demanding Boss is a book that I both liked and hated. It took me a while to finish it as I was liking the story until one scene, other reviewers have written about it so I am not going to. Once I got to that I stopped and put it aside for quite a while. When I picked it back up I put it down again....rinse and repeat a couple of more times. I did finish the book and was left with a feeling that I could not get rid of for several days. In the end the book is nicely written but the H is no "riding on a white horse" man, actually he is quite the opposite. I just think that this was not a book for me and that is okay, as not every book by an author you read you will like.

I received a copy of this book and am leaving my honest review. My opinions are all my own.

I enjoyed this book by one of my favorite dark authors Celia Crown. Like many of her stories the male character Vasari is rough and tough and very much an alpha male. He happens to be attracted to a young innocent girl and does many things to protect her and enable her to become a part of his life. He even bought the club that she worked at in order to do this. The chemistry between these two characters was clear even when they weren't fully aware of it. This book was exciting and definitely drew me in from the very beginning. It was dark and steamy and had a wonderful story line that kept me intrigued until the story was over.

Let me start off that I typically love Celia Crown books, but this one was just to short in my opinion to handle the totally OTT obsessiveness we see and felt that we some information was either glazed over or skipped completely. Vasari is a dangerous man and he is obsessed with Emmy, so much so that he crosses the immoral line a few times and violates her trust and her body while she sleeps. She never finds out though and he never tells her. Vasari is definitely an anti-hero and his possessiveness is totally OTT making him unlikable, a longer book with more insight into his character might have helped. It was a decent read.

I liked this book it is so different than most of the books I am reading now. Sometimes you need to get down and dirty and twisted and dark, and that is what this is. Take you normal boy meets girl and nice romance and just throw that out the window because you will not find that here. What Vasari does and justifies in his mind is just not right. Somehow everything just works and the book is amazing and the story was dark, but oh so enjoyable.

If you're looking for a soft romance and a white Knight in shining Armor, then maybe you should probably skip this book. But if you're a dark romance girlie like myself and love your Heros twisted, menacing, maybe even pscho, with smut, and dom/sub, this might just be the book for you. It's so twisted and good, that you don't know whether you love or hate it. This is my second book by Celia and I am starting to see a pattern, her heroes are usually twisted. The book itself was beautifully written and I loved it

I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. This story gives us Vasari, who is a dominant, possessive to the point of obsessive, powerful, focused man. Emmy is his opposite and compete him. What she quickly learns is that he also completes a part of her. Their story is well written with a special chemistry between the characters.

I love Celia Crown's books. They alway deliver a dark, possessive/jealous, alpha male. There is violence, kidnapping, and sensuous situations. Vasari isn't a very nice person but he is obsessed with Emmy and in his twisted way he loves her. Emmy is naive, trusting and in love with her boss. She's also scared of him but not enough to stay away. Such a delicious story. I received an ARC copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

He's dark, twisted and feels entitled to take and do what he wants. He doesn't have to apologize or explain. This is just how it is. He is the dark puzzle piece. Very dark. She is the puzzle piece that even though you just know it's not the one you need, you keep searching through the pieces. Then you decide to just try it and it clicks in and it's a perfect fit. That's this book, dark. And it is written by the author that knows exactly the best way to put the pieces together, Celia Crown.

This is a dark steamy read with some triggers regarding abuse and rape. The main characters are Emmy and Vasari who couldn’t be more different, but Vasari ensures that he is a part of Emmy’s personal life as much as he is her work life. This author has a great way of writing these fairly short books that are dark and intriguing.

Fantastic, dark, little read.

As always, Celia Crown delivers a nice dark, possessive/ jealous, alpha male, heavy on the H POV. I love getting windows onto these male character’s thought process. Delicious.

I definitely follow and read this author, but do check to see how detailed the disclaimers are and giggle in joy, as I’m waiting for the buy to load on my kindle.

This was a good read. I really liked Emmy, and the lengths Vasari would go to for her were interesting to read. I loved the back and forth between their two points of view. Overall this was impressive, and I’ll be looking into the author’s other work!

Although i have read multiple books by this author, they tend to be little over the top where do not have to take it up morally. But still i couldnt stop my inner self from grimming during the end of this book.

Overall it is a ok book to read where you do not want to think deep about what if it happened in real life.

Vasari is waiting for Emmy to become dependent on him. When something happens that forces him to protect her can he manipulate her so she doesn't realize what's happening?

Vasari is perfect !
I loved him from the first words I read. A real man who knows, and takes, exactly what he wants and needs. His strength and power is obvious... and totally irresistable.

There are trigger warnings. This is another book that is twisted and dark. The alpha male asserts his dominance over the girl he supposedly loves. He uses his power to get what he wants.

It has your typical -OTT Alpha dark H + naive sweet v h- vibes. What IS atypical is the overly complicated prose and inner monologues coupled with stilted dialogues-and the usage of stringy cum and squelching juices-that honestly, I don't ever want to read again LOL.

This had the foundations for being good, but for me, the writing let it down. It felt like overuse of a thesaurus and it was particularly bad in the sex scenes - the language used could not have been less sexy and made me actually cringe.

2.5 stars generously rounded up
