Loyalty is the one thing Grayson Richard grew up understanding completely. His belief in loyalty above all else led to him becoming a New Orleans Joker, and finally finding the family he had always been lacking. But loyalty had also given him many sleepless nights. With his uncle imprisoned for a crime Gray knew his mentor Tucker committed, Grayson will be left with two choices, blood or loyalty.
Tucker McCloud was a small-time crook and drug dealer, who ultimately became one of the richest and most respected businessmen in the US…and behind the scenes, a big-time drug and arms dealer. When Tucker is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, keeping his empire running becomes next to impossible, and Grayson’s loyalty will once again be tested when it seems he’s the only one the old man can turn to for help.
In the midst of it all, Poppy Le Blanc juggles her own demons and will have to learn that sometimes strength is less about what you can do for yourself, and more about who you’re willing to let in to help you.
From the swamps of Louisiana, to the coast of California, lives will be changed, people will be broken and above all, loyalties will be tested. Ride along with the New Orleans Jokers, and find whether or not Grayson and Poppy can carve out a path that will lead them far from the pain of their past, or straight into the eye of a storm that’s been brewing for twelve long years.
*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.
We met Grayson in the Christmas book but now we get his whole story. As a young boy he learned a secret that would haunt him into adulthood. Having to deal with it leads him back to Poppy whether she was ready or not. These two have some issues to work through but the end results will be worth it. Until then Grayson has to handle his past issues that have reared their head again in ways he could have never predicted. Makes for a great addition to this MC series full of guys who are 1% ers but still have hearts of gold. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.
I loved this book. I adore Poppy and how far she is willing to go for Grayson. Grayson is just trying to keep things ok but between his mom and Tucker, things gets crazy. Thai is one wild ride you don’t want to miss. Excellent writing.
~~~~~~~~~~Tracy's ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Review~~~~~~~~~~
Grayson has been in love with Poppy for five years. The man he respected above all others when he was younger and now must convince him to save his family. I loved this story and Jessie Cooke has another hit on her hand.
Grayson is the latest installment in the Jokers MC series by Jessie Cooke. While this book is a standalone, I recommend reading at least Chance's book to truly understand and appreciate the intersection of these characters.
Often neglected as a child, Grayson revered the one man who truly paid attention to him. Tucker taught him most of what he knows today about motorcycles, life and loyalty. When Gray's uncle is sent to prison for a crime he believes Tucker committed, it tests that loyalty but ultimately he keeps his suspicions to himself. Years have passed now with those secrets eating away at Gray's soul and the time of reckoning is upon him. While Gray struggles with guilt and loyalty, he spends time convincing the love of his life, Poppy, that they're worth the work.
We met Poppy in Chance's book and learned about her dysfunctional relationship with the men in her life, especially Grayson. Learning her backstory will break your heart but give you context on how much she's fighting her attraction to this incredible man. She's been running for so long, she doesn't know how to stop but Gray wants to help her, and this time it might be worth it.
I love Jessie Cooke's writing style, her character development, the complexity in her stories, etc. The men of the Jokers are richly layered and compelling. I struggled hard with this secret that Grayson carried around but Cooke brought it around beautifully. Gray is such a good man, a boy who grew up too early with a lot on his shoulders. While his role models weren't exactly law abiding men, somehow Gray turned out a good man with a rebel side. We know the hellish nightmare of Poppy's childhood from Chance's book and she still struggles with her past. All along, Gray has been the constant in her life. When she's real and open, they are so perfect for each other. I really enjoyed the growth in them individually and as partners. This book was sexy and swoony and provided a ton of revelations about life, love and loyalty.
I am really enjoying this series by Jessie Cooke about the Jokers MC from Lousiana. Firstly, I love the books' flavor. She's done the homework, and it's evident as we read about all these characters who come out of the bayou and swamps. Each book's characters have a detailed history that plays out in the story. I like that everyone is not rich and living a comfortable life. The characters have an edge to them, and they are surviving---but their devotion to Blackheart as their leader is absolute.
We have determined from previous books; there are relationships between Gabriel, Chance, and Grayson that goes back to when they were boys in the swamp. Grayson grew up with Tucker, who taught him much of what he knows about fixing motorcycles. Circumstances, unhealthy family dynamics, and family loyalties drive Grayson's character in this book. Trying to set things right along with winning the love of Poppy (Chance's sister) moves us along.
Poppy and Grayson's relationship re-ignited in Chance's book. We know they love each other, but Poppy is not dealing with her childhood abuse and not willing to open herself completely to Grayson. Grayson is in California to try to resolve issues not only with Poppy but with Tucker. In all this, Grayson is an excellent man who is doing the right thing. In all this, we get surprising revelations, growth, and a hefty side of excitement. Once again, solidifying for me how much I am enjoying the Jokers MC series. There is a depth to all these stories that I am finding is not the typical MC trope. I don't know if it's the real Cajun flavor, the backgrounds of kids coming out of the swamps, or the scrappiness of all the characters, but I have and continue to delight in their stories.
A terrific addition to this MC series that offers something a little different. A group of rowdy cajuns and their unique lifestyle is always a treat. But there's not much going on in the swamp in this story. It focuses on Grayson's backstory and history with his mentor Tucker. Gray needed someone when he was young and Tucker stepped up to teach the kid about motorcycles and life. That life took a turn when Gray's uncle takes the fall and Tucker comes out on the good side even when he's the bad guy. It's a double edged sword for Gray. He knows Tuck is a bad guy but he was always good to him. Where does loyalty lie? On the right side with Gray. The romance between Gray and Poppy is on again, off again as the two struggle to be together. When Gray ends up in Cali to ask Tuck to help with his uncle he takes the time to see Poppy and there's still that explosive heat between the two. Sizzling sexy times! But can Gray convince Poppy to give them a chance? She not sure she can give up her Cali life to go back to the swamp and all the bad memories. When Tuck has a plan that involves the Jokers the club heads to Cali to help. There's some action and danger but not enough for me plus I want more of the club and those sexy brothers. This is a quick, easy read that focuses on the steamy romance between Gray and Poppy. I was glad Gray and Chance worked on their differences. Love the brothers and look forward to the next installment. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC. 3.5 stars
The author has given us another well written, exciting storyline in the Wild Ones, Jokers MC series. I was captivated by Grayson’s story. As a young boy he was basically an outcast in his own home. His uncle gave him a job at his auto shop and that is where he met Tucker. Tucker took the boy under his wing and was more of a Dad to Grayson than his own father. Gray knew everything Tucker did wasn’t on the up and up but he loved the man. But when the cops came calling, it was Gray’s Uncle that got the blame. Through the years Gray stayed loyal to the only man that ever really cared about him. But now Gray is grown and his uncle is up for parole. Is it time to get Tucker to tell the truth or does his loyalty stand tall? As Blackheart tells him: “truth or loyalty” is a tough decision the best thing you can do is go with what you can live with when you lay your head down at night.
Through it all Gray has Poppy to lean on. The women he has loved for years but life always got in the way. Will their love finally win out or will Poppy once again, send Gray on his way.
Awesome read. I love this series and can’t wait for the next in line. If you haven’t started the series, I Highly Recommend it. While Grayson could be read as a standalone, I suggest starting at the beginning with Book 1 - Blackheart, as the storylines and the characters do overlap.
You know that a book is brilliant when it is the fifth in the series and after reading two chapters you put it aside and buy the previous four books so you can read the entire series and that is exactly what I did with this book A brilliant read that drew me in and kept me engaged I soon fell in love with the men of the the Jokers MC a family that may not be blood but is so much more
Grayson may not have had as hard a childhood as some of his brothers but he was neglected in his own way and the one person to give him time was Tucker a mechanic at his uncles work shop. When his uncle is arrested for drug smuggling Tucker leaves and soon builds a chain of garages. As he gets older he becomes a man who has a finger in many pies and not all of them are legal. Grayson goes to talk to him after realising that his uncle may of been innocent and that it was in fact Tucker who ran the ring. Tucker now resides in California the state where the one woman that Grayson has always loved also lives She has run from her past in Louisiana and is the sister of one of Grayson's MC brothers making her off limits in more ways than one. With Tucker suffering from Alzheimer's can Grayson get to the bottom of what happened when he was younger and is it has cut and dried as he believed. Will he finally get a future with the woman he has always loved You will have to read to see
This story has the couple hooking up pretty much every time they see each other, which kinda is spread over years... To be honest I kinda felt the story was more about Grayson's many run ins with Tucker and only really involved the Jokers at the end. The kingpin Tucker has Dementia and he is wanting to return to the swamps but he needs the MC to help keep him safe from everyone he is turning in to the FBI... Most the story Poppy is just supporting Grayson and they really do have sex every time he sees her... I kinda felt this story wasn't as much about Poppy as it was about Grayson and Tucker. In the last chapter Poppy turns up back in the swamp as Grayson is talking to Tucker and she tells him she is staying this time... Not sure this one was all that good as far as the couple's story... They have sex a bit but their interactions pretty much revolve around sex and Grayson dealing with Tucker. Not much of Poppy's story comes through, if you didn't read the previous story you're getting even less of who Poppy is or why she has problems. I guess I was hoping to get to know Poppy's story along with Grayson's but because Poppy's story kinda started in Chance's story her relationship with Grayson is already known but she lives in California. Lucky for Grayson his friend Tucker is in California too or we might not have a story at all.
This is Grayson’s story and it’s another winner in this series of alpha bad boys from the swamps of Louisiana. Grayson’s pseudo father Tucker was really the man that helped him grow up and taught him everything he knows about being a mechanic and more importantly growing up into the man he is today. The shop was really owned by Gray’s uncle and when the big bust sent someone to prison it was Gray’s uncle that went down for the offences even though Gray had suspicions after that it was actually Tucker who was in the wrong. Or are some things just not as you thought them to be?
Gray’s bible thumping mother has talked Gray into to going to see Tucker all these years later and see if he can get his old friend to fess up to being the one they really should have arrested. By heading out to California to see Tucker, Gray also gets to see the woman who had stolen Gray’s heart all those years ago. When the past and the future meet again all this time later so much has changed. The secrets that come out will have your head and your heart spinning. This book was packed full of chemistry, loyalty and one heck of a rollercoaster ride on both counts. I can’t wait to see what comes next from the Joker’s MC and the hot alpha men from the swamps!
I really enjoyed this story. I loved the characters, and we really loved how the story had a constant flow of suspense and intrigue and drama going on all the time.
Grayson was a character stuck between a rock and a hard place. His loyalties being split between his family and Tucker the man whom he looked up to as a father figure and Tucker who thought of Grayson as a son. Then you had the women who stole his heart Poppy and the women he can never have yet, knowing they belonged together.
Overall we loved the story as it kept us glued to the pages the entire time and was a story that every time you thought you had things figured out bam they were not as it all seemed. The romance part of the story was messy and emotional but, like all things, good things come to those who wait and Grayson was determined to win and claim Poppy once and for all. We loved being on their journey of love, life, and happiness. I loved being on the journey of love and forgiveness because this couple was clearly meant to be together, and we thought they were super sweet together and their chemistry awesome and were just perfect for one another.
An awesome story and a great addition to this ongoing series!
This is the 5th book in this amazing series and is Grayson and Poppy’s journey. Grayson has a tough childhood where he was basically an outcast to his family, and when his uncle steps in an gives him a job in his auto shop, he meets Tucker, who becomes his mentor and more of a father to him than his own. Now years later Grayson is weighed down heavily by guilt as his uncle is due up for parole, and his loyalty is tested between family and Tucker, but he knows he needs to get the truth from Tucker who is unfortunately suffering from Alzheimer’s. Poppy has also had a tough childhood and is broken and haunted by demons, but she has loved Grayson for years, but when life got in the way between them they went separate ways, and now with therapy and Grayson’s love can she more on with her life? This is a well written flawless story which is filled with secrets, betrayal, suspense, twists, truths, and is a poignant love story which had me totally enthralled throughout this addictive and riveting page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend for all MC lovers.
His best friend was the man who taught him about motorcycles and cars teaching him to be an ace mechanic. The man he went to when he had a question or a problem. Now Grayson is all grown up. He knows he has secrets he's kept for his friend. But that friend is no longer the Louisiana man he once knew. He is a wealthy businessman even though it wasn't a clean business. But then, Grayson is part of a 1% club so he was no one to talk.
His blood family wants him to give up his secrets. Can he? He at least needs to see his friend and ask because his Uncle has been in jail and is innocent. Facing his old friend brings new problems. He isn't who he used to be in more ways. His mind is fading. He wants Grayson to take over his business. Now what?
His trip to California to see Tucker brings him back to Poppy, his one love who left him to find her brother. Do they have a chance now?
There is more than Grayson ever thought and he's got to bring in the club. You won't have a quiet minute and things aren't always what they seem. Hang on there's steam, action, secrets revealed, love renewed and so much more.
Grayson's childhood wasn't exactly loving as his parents really didn't give a crap about him, and took working at his uncle's shop in order to get the attention he needed from a man named Tucker. The day his uncle was arrested for charges that Grayson believed were false, he started to think that Tucker was the one who set his uncle up, and the guilt has been eating him alive since his loyalty is put to the test. Poppy had a tragic, nightmarish past that still affects in the present which makes her reject Grayson over & over again because he just wants her to give them a chance. They're chemistry is crazy intense but while Poppy had the right to have issues, she still got on my nerves with the way she treated him doing nothing to change things. With all the heat, crazy suspense, and the flawed bikers that Jessie Cooke excels at, Grayson is another brilliant & original story that all MC lovers have to have on their kindle! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
This is in part a continuation of the story that started with Chance. Although not necessary to read, it would help with Poppy's backstory. Grayson is a member of the Jokers MC but he leaves Louisiana and heads to California to deal with someone from his past and Poppy just happens to live nearby. They rekindle their on again off again relationship and try to navigate moving forward. There is some action towards the end, lots of steam between Grayson and Poppy but its a more thoughtful book about his history with his family. There wasn't much of the MC in this story except towards the end when they ride in to save the day and I felt like it dragged a bit in the beginning but was generally a good story. I hope the next installment takes us back to the swamp.
Grayson is loyal to a fault but he is weighted down by his decision to keep a secret, that his uncle is serving time for a crime he did not commit but one that Tucker did. Tucker was like a mentor to Grayson and with his ailing health Tucker needs Grayson once again but with his uncle parole coming up and a chance to set things right will Grayson be able to go through with it? Poppy has her demons and together with Grayson an some therapy she learns to let others in but will the past beable to keep them strong together for what lies ahead? a well written romance with suspense, decisions, desire, truths, betrayals and more!
I have enjoyed this series, and this story did not disappoint. The pasts for both Grayson and Poppy were not happy ones, and Poppy's was very bad. I loved Grayson's loyalty to his childhood mentor but was impressed when he tried to right a past wrong. My heart hurt when we met Tucker in the present with his health issues, despite his behavior until this point. Poppy was such an independent spirit, but she was unable to move on. I was glad that she was willing to try something different to move beyond her past experiences. The steam and connection between Poppy and Grayson was strong enough to survive all that was thrown at them.
I received a copy of this story through Enticing Journey Book Promotions, and this is my unsolicited review.
This is a great series. I really love Grey he is troubled but has a good head on his shoulders. Poppy is superb and she is experiencing feelings that she is dealing with she and needs Greys strength to help her get through and deal with the life that she is submersed into. It is recommended that you read the other books within the series to get the full effect of the storyline that runs throughout the series. You can enjoy this book as it can be read as a standalone. Jesse does a great job conveying what she wants the reader to feel and see. This is great book. Get a jamb up series right here. Miss Cooke has written a remarkable story and one you will enjoy and revisit!
As a child Grayson's uncle was sent to prison for a crime he didn't commit. He figured Tucker was the one who should go to prison since he was a all time drug dealer but Grayson kept his mouth shut because there was that little grain of doubt. Present day. With guilt weighing heavily on his shoulders Grayson has a tough decision to make now that he's a adult. Turn snitch for his blood or loyalty to the club? Poppy may have had a difficult childhood but she learns through therapy and Grayson the only way to get better I'd to let people in. Since Tucker has been diagnosed with Alheimers he has once again asked for Grayson help. What will the outcome be?
Grayson belongs to the New Orleans Joker MC. He feels loyalty to his club and his family that few people would understand. His uncle has a chance to be released from prison but only if Gray can convince his mentor Tucker to come forward with information. There's a problem there, Tucker has Alzheimer's. Gray is in love with Poppy. She left Louisiana and headed for California to get away from trauma and now she doesn't want to come home. It's hard because she knows he needs her. Maybe Gray can convince Poppy that his love is worth coming home.
Loved the book it was great, the story was well written and the characters were intriguing. This book was so unique on its own, Grayson had lots going on and a lot of thinking, with his uncle going to jail for something he did not do, and he also knew who done it. Then another time Grayson had to think was Tucker his mentor got Alzheimer's and Tucker relies heavily on Grayson to take care of the business he meets Poppy while he is dealing with everything. Does loyalty mean more than blood, or ts blood is thicker than loyal. This book was defiantly worth reading it does get your heart pumping.
This story focuses more on his personal life and not his love life. Grayson has secrets that can get his uncle out of jail. He goes to California to speak to the one man that can help him with that. While in California, he visits Poppy, the girl he is in love with. Both Poppy and Grayson have a past that they are trying to forget. Its while in California that he learns the truth about his uncle. At the same time, Poppy decides to work on herself so that the relationship can work.
Another smashing hit by this amazing author!! Grayson is weighed down by the guilt he feels being loyal to Tucker over his blood uncle. His uncle goes to jail for a crime he didn’t commit while Tucker is the real guilty party but he is Grayson’s mentor. So when his uncle comes up for parole Grayson, as an adult, makes the tough decision to get his uncle out of jail. Poppy is haunted by her demons and when life got in the way for her and Grayson they chose to separate and go their separate ways. But now through therapy Poppy is finally healing and ready to move on with her life. Will that include Grayson?
One of the things that I love most about this author's work is that each story is unique, has real life issues, and they're all absolutely fantastic. This story was filled with a lot of emotional issues from the past and present, but in the end everything works out the way it was always meant to be. I have come to love these characters as much as I do those in the Skulls'MC series. I really hope to see more of both! I would definitely recommend this book, series, and exceptional author.
Grayson and Poppy Grayson went through alot of abuse in his childhood, the one person he could count on was Tucker an employee of his uncle's. He was the father that Grayson's mentally ill father wasnt.
Poppy also had a terrible childhood, and when she was able to, she ran away from her home, her family and broken heartedly, from Grayson. Grayson comes to a point where he has to decide between what he believes is the truth and his loyalty to Tucker, and to convince Poppy that they can make a go of their relationship. LOVE this author's writing and this series is another hit.
Grayson is trying to make things right that happen when he was a kid. He has come to see the man that was more like a father then his own. But what he finds is a old man with Alzheimer’s. And he learns more of the truth of what happened all those years ago. But he also goes to see poppy the girl he’s loved since he was 12 hoping to build a future but she’s not ready. So enjoy the read!! But I also thought there could of been some more in the end about how they got Tucker to Louisiana. Oh well still good!!
Another awesome book from this author!! Grayson has Tucker who taught him everything about being a mechanic and in the long run is the reason his uncle went to jail, now the family wants Tucker to admit that fact and it also brings Poppy back into his life, will he let her get away again? Will he stay loyal to Tucker or to his family? This book never let's you see a lull in the action or storyline!!
“Grayson, I love you. Wow just wow to be honest. Jessie did it again and wrote another fantastic story. It was deeply touching, exciting, entertaining and simply phenomenal. The plot somehow felt different from the past ones and it was fantastic! Both Poppy and Greyson suffered from the unforeseen of life but after betrayal, secrets, some twisted situations and ultimately truths that will once again test their love. It was a delightful story to read.”
Another great read! Gray and Poppy have been through so much! It’s great seeing them grow and learn. Gray has such a tough decision to make but I really like how he handled it all. Really enjoyed this story! I love the Jokers! Can’t wait for more! Highly recommend this series!
Loved Grayson and Poppy’s story. The emotion throughout their story was beautiful. I loved the pace of the story, and the attraction and passion between this couple was hot. This series has been fantastic, and I have loved each and every character, they have all captured my heart for very different reasons, and I look forward to reading Razor next!
