Shadow Isle Reformatory where the good, the bad, and the worst are sent to be fixed. What no one tells you is the teachers don’t give two shits and it's more of a prison than an actual reformatory. The only thing we learn here is how to survive. Being born of winter and ice, survival should have been no issue for me. There was one catch, I had no clue how to control it. I was a constant disappointment to my family, one they feared instead of loved. It didn’t help that my sister had it out for me and was determined to have me sent away. My sister got her wish and I was sent to hell on earth, needing to figure out who to trust and who was my enemy. I found the most unlikely allies, or at least I thought I had until I learned that betrayal was right in our midst. A druid, the son of Lucifer, a Lion shifter and the son of Jack Frost himself…. Who can I trust and who is ready to betray me, just as my family had? *This is a reverse harem with sexually explicit materials. Not suitable for young audiences
This book was really good. The book made me cry because of the amount of detail it had. And the fact that her family was out right rude and making it seem like she was a disappointment. I could relate to this because I too feel like this sometimes. And this book made me realize again that I can get help from those around that aren't my blood family but a family that I form by bonding with them. Her parents and her sister are so evil that it breaks my heart that they would do something like that to her. Especially her mother. Her mother should be supporting her no matter what she does. She should love her daughter no matter what. But her younger sister got the best of the family and it was then and there that she could do nothing to convince to her parents that she didn't do the things that she did. She was framed by her younger sister to have her sent away. As the book is ending and she finds her mates and goes away from the prison into hiding, we learn and important message from the book. The past doesn't define who are, But your actions and choices do. How you decide what your fate is going to be depending on what choice you make.
I love books with fairy tales entwined into story and unique twists. This read did a great job of this. We have Eva who is a descendant of the Snow Queen but has no control over her powers. She ends up getting sent to a reformatory but in truth it's merely a brutal prison run by Jack Frost. There Eva meets 4 guys - Calex, Sebastian, Blade and Jaxon. All of them are not what they seem and it was so much fun finding out their backgrounds. All 5 of them are strong and this puts them in grave danger...so let the adventure begin.
Twists aside this was a great story. It starts out a little slow and it seems like you know exactly where the story is going but by the time you get past the first couple of chapters you realize this may not be the story you thought it was. The interaction between the characters was fun to watch and the development between then was intriguing. Eva could be a little annoying at times to be honest but you can't help but like her. I enjoyed her growth as a character from the beginning of the story to the end and can't wait to see her grow even more in the next book. I like all of the guys as well and enjoyed Eva's interactions with all of them.
Ok I love the formatting and cover of this book so freaking pretty! Ok they story wow just WOW🤯 the characters are so well developed and the story just sucks you in! You need to read this!🥰🤩😍
An okay read. The book was undoubtedly steamy and was full of promise and potential; however, that was the extent of this book. The FMC is sheltered and naive, which is understandable and she has hidden depths. She gets sent off to reformatory school aka prison and meets some interesting inmates um students. Sounds interesting. It truly would have been if the book had a better plot and less instant chemistry. Even when 1 or 2 of the guys waffle back and forth, it lasted what a chapter?! The guys unfortunately were not well developed. You hardly got much background or world development. I'm not gonna lie I had to roll my eyes with the Disney references (Scar, Yzma, Cusco, etc). I just wanted Eva to have more than a handful of sentences with her guys before she jumps their bones. I mean this was chock full of insta- everything (lust, sex, love, friendship). There was very little buildup. Overall it was still an okay read, but I can't say that I will continue this series.
I don't know whether to start by saying how this was my dream co-write, or how I can't believe these two authors made me love a prison academy book, genre I haven't considered reading before. I don't really know why I'm surprised by this, it is not the first time they made me love a genre I never thought I would read. In any case, I can say from the bottom of my heart that I loved this book so much. It was a great story, it was superhot, and characters were amazing. Firstly, whatever ideas you might have about what happens here, I can guarantee it's something else and completely unexpected. And it's fantastic! The authors have great ideas individually, but coming together it is pure magic. And what's more, their writing styles meld so beautifully in one homogeneous story that it's impossible to tell who wrote what. It's a wonderful thing that two of them found each other and write so beautifully together. And the characters... the characters are amazing! Eva is a victim of unfairness and bad circumstances, and not one to give up. It was beautiful to observe her personal growth in the last place where one would expect to grow. The guys are freaking fantastic. Calex is my greatest love from the first moment to the end. I mean, all of them are fantastic, each in his own way but Raven Prince is my absolute favourite. What I love most is that each one of them is a distinct person, with his little quirks and personalities. And there is so much hotness, be ready to be overheated while reading. Then there is Eva's best friend Una who is so adorable that I am hoping for more books so I can see more of her. I wish I could say more about the story, but it would all be spoilers. I loved this book and I love this writing combo. I seriously can't wait to read more of their work. And I am sincerely hoping they will make writing together a permanent thing.
*Spoiler Alert* Evangeline (FMC aka Eva) has temperamental elemental snow and ice magic. She has no control over it and it seems to be worse when she is stressed or upset. Which her sister (Alayna) takes great pleasure in getting her to be both. As a last resort (or so her parents think) shes sent to Shadow Isle Reformatory. A school for elementals like her but its anything but. More like a prison with sleazy guards, a creepy warden (called Jack Frost??) and back-stabbing inmates. Except Sebastian - Druid and prison officer, Calex - Son of Lucifer, Blade - Lion shifter and Jaxon - who has same elemental magic as Eva. Distrustful of everyone Eva has to learn to find her place and control her magic in this new world. I loved how Eva gained more confidence and strength as the story progressed. As well as her relationship with the guys. Hot as Hell!! Quite literally with Calex, lol. Flaming hell that ending though?? Knockout. Dying to get my hands on book 2 now
F**k yeah!!!! These ladies delivered a kick a** book!!! I love love loved it!!! It caught me immediately and kept hold of me until almost the ending. I was so nervous about the final showdown that I dropped the book and played games on my phone for three hours. I finally found the courage and picked up the book again. And what a showdown it was. The ending was absolutely fabulous.
Now let me just mention the incredible heat level in this book. It was volcano hot, like ripped panties everywhere. And the authors kept it smouldering throughout the book.
I absolutely loved Eva. She's like kitten on the outside and a tiger inside. I can't wait to follow how she grows in the next book. Now the guys are absolutely delicious *whispers* I licked the screen so now they are mine.
I highly recommend this book. Hurry up and find out why I loved it.
I really enjoyed this book and it was my first book from these authors and I am so glad that i picked it up! This book has very Frozen vibe but adult RH prison version. It was a great combination of these themes. Eva can't control her powers and her sister is determined to ruin her life by framing her for the evil things she does around their house and blames it on Eva to the point her Elite parents hate her and send her away. In the reformatory school i.e. prison she is forced to learn control or suffer worse consequences then she had ever experienced before. Some unlikely guys take an interest in her and try to protect her. Little do they know their biggest threat is the Warden himself Jack Frost. I can't wait to find out what happens next!
This is such an amazing read. I could not put it down, no matter what I needed to do. It moved along at an amazing pace which was not too fast nor too slow. The characters are so real that you feel as though you know them personally and no matter what you have to be there with them. The story will grab you from the moment that you start reading and not let you go, no matter what. This book needs to be read.
This was an ok reverse harem, though it didn’t blow me away. Fun story line that seemed to edge the ravine of well known tales with some references - Elsa, a bit of the Lion King, a dash of Cinderella and a few other influences I noted. Nothing blatant (aside from a snowman and ‘the cold never bothered me anyway’), and honestly, that made me laugh more than anything. It lost some points because it felt a bit trite and mundane, the descriptions were on par but the dialogue was stilted and at times overly formal. Emotions were slammed into and just accepted, and one character, Jaxon, was all over the place. He went from wanting revenge on her to wanting to save and protect the girl, in about three paragraphs - several times.
First person, multiple POV, fast burn, PNR RH - kinda an academy, but really a prison romance.
Wow! That’s all I got! Wow! But seriously this book is amazing! I really loved it! I loved the setting, the dynamics between the FMC and the guys, the mystery, the sexiness, the emotional turmoil, and so much more! These Authors did a kick ass job! You do not want to miss out on this one! It’s a Must Read!
Omg I loved this story!!!! I literally just could not put it down. And when I had to all I could think about is going back to finish it. This story captivated me from start to finish. Storyline is freaking amazing. Absolutely love the characters. The ending was perfect start to book 2. Seriously I need book 2. Like now. Highly recommend this one.
OH MY GOODNESS!!!! This is a book of dreams for moms that have young kids and you are stuck watching Disney movies. As I was reading this book, it hit me hard, a Frozen Reverse Harem along with a Lion King reference. Disney has now become an adult and learned about reverse harems. LOL Meet Evangeline Bylar, who is having a bit of difficulty controlling her magic. Due to this and an evil sister she is sent to the Shadow Isle Reformatory. So is this a prison or school. Here we meet Blade, Sebastian, Jaxon and Calex. OH MY, OH MY, OH MY sweet baby these men are hot, sweet, protective, dominant and powerful. So why are these powerful people in this reformatory. Can Eva get the help she needs to control her powers? You definitely need to pay attention to the story. It builds slow but quickly picks up and be prepared to be hot and cold all at once. Overall this book is amazing. I cannot wait to read the next book.
Fantastic read. Really enjoyed this. Eva has been put down by her family for too long. Her sister the favourite literly gets away with murder while Eva is confined to her room. Finally she is sent away to shadow isle. Is this a prison, is it worse than how she lived before? This was a brilliant read. Cant wait for the next
Great co write from these two authors. Loved both their work individually, but together it’s something special. Really interesting storyline and definitely got me in the prison mood. Love the characters and how it all came together. Yay for book 2
I freaking love this book! And freaking Hot, hot, hot! I love the storyline its freaking amazing! The characters are amazing as well! Dang I can't wait to read more! Just wow wow wow! Amazing!
I love this story. Eva is a great character and I love the interactions she has with the other characters in the story. I like the character development of all the men in the group and look forward to more of this story!!
Loved everything about this book! FMC that is tough, sweet and strong. Four hot boyfriends that are so amazing in their own ways. Plus, an amazingly addictive story!
I absolutely loved this book and the start of this series. Can I just say Fairytales and RH, I mean you can't go wrong with that. Eva can't control her ice power, she gets sent to a reformatory..ok a prison by her parents...she meets those who turn out to be her mates..of course there is drama and some action and I won't be the whole book away cause you need to read it. All I can say is I can't wait for book 2 and well done to both the authors as this was great and a must read for sure.
Wintertide is a brilliantly written book. One of my all time favourite fairy tales The Snow Queen mixed up with a couple of others. Evangeline is a woman who can only control her elemental powers her sister is a nasty piece of work. Eva gets sent away where she has to learn who to trust and how to control her powers. She finds herself with 4 hot men. You need to read this one you won't regret it fantastic and I can't wait to see what happens next
What a fantastic spin on The Snow Queen! There’s so many of my favorite childhood characters that make an appearance. I wish I could read Wintertide again for the first time. This was the second book I read from Melody Calder, and I’ll definitely be looking forward to more books to come from this author!
This is a wonderful spin on an older tail; Eva is a strong character who has managed to catch the eye(s) of unlikely heroes who will do anything for the woman they love. There are some steamy scenes that completely catch your attention. We the readers are the one who truly benefit from these two women, Melody and Everly. The combining of their talents is a gift to us.
This book was amazing. I loved Evangeline’s character so much especially how she seemed to fit in at Shadow Isle despite being sent there for all the wrong reasons. I was glad to see that Alyana got what was coming to her. I also love all the men and how they managed to get along to ensure Eva’s safety. I loved the dragon as well. I really can’t wait to see what happens in the next book!
Holy! This book took me by a storm! Hot! Steamy! Soooo good! This series has started out so amazingly. I cannot wait to see what happens next. Calex and Blade!? LOVE THEM! Sebastian and Jaxon are just as amazing but I seriously love Blade and Calex. DIBS!
This was the first book I’ve read by these two authors and I really enjoyed it. Loved the story and how all the relationships developed. The ending is a bit of a cliffhanger and I can’t wait to see what happens next.
OMG! This was an amazing book. I just loved the characters in this story. I can't wait for the next book and some more explanations. It was just amazing.
