In Death I Live

Rate this book
I’ve died several deaths over the years. Each time another piece of my soul destroyed, leaving me emptier than the time before. I came to accept that fact, knowing death—true death—would descend on me sooner rather than later.

I thought I ran away from the devil—the man who’s ruled my life—for the last time, but he found me anyway. Sculpting me once more into the good girl he needs for his bidding. Forcing me to live with strangers to learn their secrets, knowing that they’re evil, like him. But I’ll go willingly to protect the one person I love.

But these men? These so-called demons? I’m not convinced they’re like him at all. If they truly are, it’s only because they were fallen angels forced to serve a devil of their own.

If I’m right, then maybe we can all crawl out of this hell of a life together and live after all.

Now, the only question that remains is: which side is the lesser of two evils?

**In Death I Live is a dark reverse harem standalone novel. It is not recommended for those under 18 or for the faint at heart.

My GOSH.... 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐁𝐎𝐎𝐊 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐒𝐎 𝐒𝐎 𝐒𝐎 𝐆𝐎𝐎𝐃!!!! Far surpassed my expectations. It took me on one of the hottest, darkest and heartbreaking rides I've had the pleasure to endure. All the feels. 𝘼𝙇𝙇.𝙏𝙃𝙀.𝙁𝙀𝙀𝙇𝙎!

I'm a HUGE fan of RH and this one was fantastic. Even a little taste of moments you didn't see coming. Pun meant. It was an intense ride filled with twists that leave you reeling, sexy times that make you rub your thighs together and a cast of characters that will make you long for them after you've read "the end" I want this book to continue on forever!!

Dominic, River, Cruz and Greyson will always have a piece of my heart. Gah, those guys. Dang they were damn near perfect. One that is the broodiest of bad boys, one that is beyond sweet, one that is the peacemaker and one that is the flirty hottie. Together, as brothers born into darkness and a blood... they were everything! One unit that flowed so fluidly, it pure magic.

Zora. My heart broke for Zora. All she knew of love growing up was about being used and discarded. She yearned for more, to find her worth and ended up finding it in all the wrong places.
Until she glimpsed hope in the eyes of 4 young man. Men whos lives were bathed in darkness and destruction. Her light shined on them and they would never be the same.

There was SO much to this book! Go in blind. It's needed. Lots of secrets and truths you want to experience for yourself. This book is for sure going on my short list of favorite RH reads!!

A creative, romantic, steamy suspense

Found unawares meandering the roadside, Zora is taken in and cared for by River, one of an elite group of men. What they don't yet realize is that she was purposefully inserted in their lives by a dangerous boyfriend seeking intel on all them -- River, Cruz, Domonic, and Greyson. And what she comes to find out is how much she fits in this unconventional family. A why-chose love story in which gritty events gradually peel away to twists and reveals in a decidedly spicy backdrop of an underground, secret society.

Zora is a mix of mischief and innocence arising from a life of mistreatment, a neglectful mother and predator boyfriend and his best friend. River, Cruz, Dominic, and Greyson are the sexy alphas from the most sweet to the biggest bad boy, and Zora "Angel" is forced to do a job to infiltrate their domain. But who can be trusted?

I enjoyed the creative storyline, very different from books of this variety I have read in the past. It was gritty with Zora's perverse history and "grooming" and the secret society, and it evolved into loving relationships with multiple guys, each with a different skillset and appealing characteristics despite being not so good guys. I loved the MM love within the group between the guys. Which leads me to the spice level: high! I was quite happy with the spiciness of this book. There was chemistry and sufficient level of build up to make it believable. I appreciated there was no reticence or delayed interaction among adults at the expense of progression. This was an adult read after all. Oh and there was some kink and ritual.

Character development was good in terms of behavior, but a bit less descriptive of characters' physical features -- at times I had difficulty visualizing any of them. Additionally, I had a little difficulty reconciling Zora's behavior which at time seemed as if she was asserting herself and others out of context to the intended depiction of the scene. For instance, in some scenes, she seemed to blurt out words and act in ways that were at odds, dissonant to the mood. I attribute that to trying to show a heroine who was both confident but vulnerable. Still, it did not negatively affect the story, more the character connectedness.

Overall, an entertaining read. Great guys, lots of love and heady spice, and unexpected twists in a stand-alone romance.

This book! It’s freaking EVERYTHING DUDE!

The twists, the angst, just everything about this book captivates you, sucks you in and keeps you reading.

I love the Chemisty that is in this book between everyone and I truly love how the boys will do whatever it takes to protect Zora!

Absolutely without a doubt 5 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

When my girl has a new book come out, I put everything aside and read it. Just like this one, only with this one, I wanted to stop so I didn't race through it but guess what, I did because I COULD NOT PUT THIS DOWN.

Zora is one of the strongest female characters I have read and I instantly fell into her character. The life she endured and lived through, how strong she was. Everything about her made her the most perfectly flawed character I've ever read.

Now to the boys, River makes my heart smile, Greyson makes me giggle, Cruz makes me hungry and Dom, Dom makes me want all of what he brings to the table.

Lindsay told me she is always nervous when she releases a book, and as an author, I understand but as a reader, I need her to know, she never needs to worry. She brings all the emotions with her words, she makes me feel like I am living in another world while I escape into her books and I hope to God, she knows just how talented she truly is. In Death I Live, is my top read of 2021.

Holy $h!t!! Seriously?? I have read Lindsay Bec’s entire library of books, and I always thought I had favorites, but this book has surpassed all of them by a mile!!

This is a thick book filled with a story full of raw emotion and heat so hot you are going to need a cigarette when you finish each scene. The characters are real and so multidimensional that they refuse to stay on the page and jump right into your heart. You are going to be like Zora and fall in love with each of these men.

This is a different trope and a darker story than we are used to from Lindsay, but it does hold true to her way of writing with emotion and giving her characters the ability to show that emotion.

I couldn’t put this book down and I did not want it to end! Lindsay Becs is a 1-click author for me, and if she’s not for you she needs to be. If you like dark and steamy with hot alphas and a heroine who will not give up no matter what gets thrown at her you have to read this one!

What a book to pop my Lindsay Becs cherry to! In Death I Live is a dark reverse harem romance that will consume you entirely from beginning to end. Zora is such a beautiful, strong force in her own right and along with her guys Domonic, River, Cruz & Greyson they will take over your world! Don’t even ask me to choose a favourite out of this RH because I just can’t! Isn’t that the point of reverse harem? You don’t have to pick one, you can have them all! The characters, the plot, the darkness, the unexpected twists and ohh…the sexy times…the “steamy, set your e-reader on fire sexy times”. In Death I Live is written in quality of the highest calibre. This book has everything that makes dark romance and reverse harem some favourite genres of mine. A full spectrum of emotions and yes, dammit, I teared up a few times. Lindsay Becs has ticked all of my boxes and added a couple of new ones too. A must read book and definitely in my top reads of 2021. Highly recommended.

Pack up your expectations and put them away, because you're going to need to have absolutely zero while reading this book. It is full of angsty, twists and turns, dark plots, and hot, did I say HOT sexy times between Zora and the boys. This book completely took me by surprise, and I'm not usually an RM reader, but I think I just converted.

HOLY-CRAP-ON-A-CRACKER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was super sucked in the moment I started reading. As soon as we were introduced to Zora and Slater together I knew this book was going to be different. And oh man was I right!!!!

This is, by far, way different than anything else I've ready from Lindsay. AND I LOVED EVERY DANG SECOND OF IT!!! This was deliciously dark, and although it had some pretty tough stuff, Lindsay did what she always does. Her amazing writing makes it so the blow is so much softer. And the fact that it is a reverse harem? MIND BLOWN!

The relationship between Zora and her past was super scary, and then you have her relationship with the guys in the harem, it was like a dream! The synchronicity and flow of their relationship was so beautiful. It took everything that you think is "taboo" out of their relationship and only shows the beauty of it.

Sure, there are definitely some rough times, it is organized crime related, but it was hot and the love was amazing. I cannot wait to see what else she writes like this!!!

4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Let me start my review by saying that In Death I Live is the first reverse harem book I've read. To be honest, I'm not a fan of that genre since I hate polygamous relationship, but this book really intrigues me. So I decided to give it a chance and see if it can change my mind about the genre. Well, you know what? this book turns out to be pretty good. It was able to capture my fullest attention till the very end of the story.

Overall, it was an enjoyable read for me and I think Lindsay did a really good job in delivering this story. Everything about this book is dark, twisted, steamy, thrilling, and intense. I felt that the entire story was very well written which makes me decide to check out all her other books. If you're in the mood for a dark RH standalone, then this book is definitely for you.

Oh my Lawd, what in the hell did I just read???? And why can I only give it 5 stars???? Lindsay has OUTDONE HERSELF with In Death I Live, It has become my most favorite read of hers, and I've read ALLLLL her books, and they are alll FANFREAKINTASTIC!!!!! So saying this one is my most favorite is saying something!! Zora has had a hard life, and she is found in the rain, stumbling on the side of the road beaten and bleeding by a couple guys who take her back to their place to take care of her. Things aren't always what they seem, and Zora starts to realize that with these 4 guys who actually show her kindness, which she hasn't had much of in her life. The 4 guys are Dom, River, Cruz, and Greyson, and they have their own stories and demons that they live with. They come to realize that Zora is different, and that she is someone that they all care about. Zora herself starts to care in her own way, and decides being with them might not be so bad. This RH will give you all the feels, and so much more!!

Let me start off by saying I wish I could give this book more than 5 stars. I knew going in this was going to a Reverse Harem book, but nothing prepared me for what I was going to read. Most RH books that I have read were good, but not like this. This book is definitely not your usual RH books.. It is soo much better! The story is soo intriguing, you are drawn in as soon as the car is driving down that rainy road. It twists and tangles into Zora's plight from the present to the past. She has gone through the mud and more and the one person she thought was good for her, turns out to be her biggest enemy! After she is rescued by "the guys", we get to meet each of them individually. Each guy in the harem are so different from each other, each bringing something to the mix. I fell in love with all of them too. River, the protector, Cruz, the one with the big heart, Greyson. the kinky goof and Domonic, the brooding leader with a heart that he thought stopped beating. The one thing they have in common is they all fall for Zora and bond with her in their own way. Zora is sent to these guys, beaten and broken, with a plot to infiltrate he Organization, only because her enemy holds the sword of Damocles over her head. As she gets to know them and fall for them, she is torn between loyalty and love. You will tense up, you will be angry, you will chuckle, but most of all, you will be happy you read this book. Congratulations, Lindsay! You did it again!

This is a dark reverse harem love story of Zora, Cruz, Dom, Grey and River. There is action and suspense also there is a character I wasn't sure if they were her brother or baby then I got my answer...no spoilers you have to find out !!

The cover does link with the story. I thought it was a supernatural story and it isn't. After reading Zora's past I see why Lindsay designed the cover this way. Once you read this story you will see it too and it just she never got a bloody break apart from now, her protectors

This is like a spy on spy suspense story with a lot of VERY STEAMY scenes 🥵 There are some surpises on this one that I didn't see coming and I didn't like it when a certain twat comes out if the shadows to grab Zora...no spoilers

I would never have thought these HOT dangerous alpha men would sit down watching Twilight🦇just that one scene made me laugh

I love River & Cruz they are a spicey bromance. Yes it is reverse romance but they these two have a bound. They are all best friends and they love sharing the girl they love. AND there is another addiction to the group AND that was another surpise twist. Oh yes there a few twists in this one

Did they "complete the mission?"...

4.5 stars for my first book from this author!

Holy guacamole! At the first 20% I kept on thinking how this book would serve as a standalone cause the “world-building” and plot set up is intense and it kept me guessing how tf we would end up with a full story that will cover everything in a standalone but hoo-boy was I not disappointed.

This book gave me a lot of DoV vibes even though the plots and characters are hugely different from each other. I like how we’re not met with another cliché FMC who is extremely intense and super outwardly strong—no shade to anyone but some authors need to understand that heroines don’t need to be secretly hired assassins who can beat up five big men to be seen as ‘strong’.

I guess the half star I withdrew from giving was that I would’ve loved an epilogue where we could see a glimpse of the near future for these characters—how they would be in the outside world since the book was mainly set in the compound, how they would deal with relationship problems in the long run, and other stuff like that but I guess it’s a creative choice to let the readers imagine… or maybe.. just maybe.. a spin-off? ;)

Wow! I really f*cking loved this!😱🤯😍🤗🙌🏻

I almost DNFed it but am so glad I didn’t. Once I got through the slightly rough and cringey beginning (mainly due to the extreme insta-lust/love, which is a trope I struggle with, and the initial disconnect I had with the characters) and just went with the it and accepted it for what it was, I started to really enjoy it and couldn’t put it down. The change for me happened around chapter 11, and I was shocked by how much I ended up really enjoying this. It was a fun, entertaining, fast-paced read with plenty of suspense, action, smut, emotion, and relationship and character development — most of which happen in the last 1/2-2/3 of the book. If, like me, you struggle with it at the beginning, just stick with it, because it gets so much better.😊

The main thing I loved about this and what kept me reading were the MMCs. I loved their relationships so much. And I loved that they were as intimate with each other as they were. It was so sweet and also so hot😉. I haven’t read a reverse harem like this where all the guys are intimate with each other. I loved it. I thought their personalities and POVs were different enough to keep things interesting. Cruz and Greyson felt the most similar to me, so sometimes I struggled to differentiate these two in my head. But overall, I really loved these characters. I swear… guys being vulnerable, intimate, and affectionate with each other… omfg it’s my catnip🥺😭😍🥰🤤😮‍💨🥵. So the fact that all four MMCs were like this… uhhhh I think my brain exploded from sheer happiness and joy🤗🤩🤯. Also, the group activities, smut, emotion, conversations, and open communication between the MMCs and FMC were *chef’s kiss.* And I👏🏻F*CKING👏🏻LOVED👏🏻IT!👏🏻❤️

I also really loved the action and suspense in this. It was fast-paced, kept my attention, and kept me guessing what was going to happen next. And it had some of my favorite action/suspense tropes (yay!).

I thought the writing was really good. It was more showing than telling, fast paced, and concise. Had just the right amount of inner thoughts/dialogue. And it wasn’t too wordy or descriptive. Made for an easy, fun, addicting read. I also loved that this was multi POV, and thought each of the POVs were really well done! 🙌🏻

I did struggle with the FMC at first, but as the book progressed, I ended up really liking her and her character development. I also thought the world building in this was great. For being a standalone instead of a series, it felt like a really well-developed, thought-out, original story. It didn’t leave any lingering questions, and the ending didn’t feel rushed.

I really loved and enjoyed this and would definitely recommend it!

All the feels. The story is built on lies, deception, and half truths. Zora is manipulated into her role, all because she wants to safe someone important in her life. Dominic, River, Cruz, and Grayson, four amazing new book BF for everyone to list over. They are everything Zora needs to become the hero in her own story. I don’t want to give away any spoilers so I’m just going to say, be prepared to fall for the sexy guys, laugh with flirtatious acts, and root for Zora. Lots of steam, and a great standalone

This book is so much more than what I was expecting. It was phenomenal! This is my first Lindsay Becs book and I can say it definitely won’t be my last.

Zora has endured a life of abuse and fear. She’s strong and does what she needs to do in order to survive and keep her secret safe. When she’s forced to infiltrate the Black Swans she’s not ready for the intense pull she feels towards them.

Once started, I could not put this book down. It’s everything you want in a dark reverse harem romance. I highly recommend and now added to my growing pile of favorite books this year.

On the surface this was a really intense and fun RH read with love to go all around. The book starts set in the criminal underworld with the heroine transitioning from the ‘street’ criminal world to that of a secret organization run by the rich and powerful. An organization with backing and clout far beyond your average gang member, one that in fact actually rules the world. The heroine is brutally tracked and set to infiltrate the group, report back on details and generally shake things up. Note the book does have some harsh brutalities thrown in and consider skipping it if you have trigger warnings. Not only is there physical abuse included but a whole lot of psychological abuse and it’s all kinds of F’d up.

I’m really still loving the cover but I think it defineitly gave me more horror, fearful vibes than the book actually delivered. I didn’t hate on the the drama and really enjoyed the storyline even though it contains some majorly common tropes. Some of the men had their moments and I wanted to throttle the, but even with all the secrets, betrayals and reveals, there was not an abundance of relationship drama to which I appreciate. The relationship does move extremely fast but considering the book is a standalone all the men had fun and unique personalities, making it easy to discern between the four. I also very much appreciated the full love circle going on in the harem, so yes there’s M/M and it’s 🔥. Zora is one lucky girl that’s all I’m gonna say 😈

For me personally what kept me from really loving the book was all the little details that didn’t piece together forming what I thought were some sizable plot holes. Other than me having some unanswered questions I really enjoyed the book. Do wish it had an epilogue though.

Zora was always a pawn. Manipulated into believing that she was loved when really, she was always a means to an end. That didn't change, even after she ran. When she was found, she was thrust right back into the role she always played. What she didn't plan on was falling for the demon that saved her from the side of the road.

When River saw Zora, he broke the rules. Bringing her home and not doing what he was supposed to. Keeping her to himself. It didn't take long though for the others to join in. Dom, Grayson, & Cruz have all fallen under the spell that Zora cast.

The tensions were high as they all had to navigate what it was that was going on between them. The trust had to be earned. The feelings came a lot faster than any of them expected and when the truth comes out, they have a brand new determination between them all.

They all fight for one another, they all love each other. This was a reverse harem that gave me everything I could want. The suspense, the drama, the love, the moments between them - all perfection. They all are with one another. So when the biggest bomb explodes, they are all there, working to find the solution. To be able to be together, be happy, and stay safe.

They are marked on their hearts and deep within their souls. Their love is unconditional and uniquely them.

I finished this book last night and I'm still scraping my jaw off the ground. I did not expect Lindsay Becs to hit that hard, to go that far, but holy moly, did she ever... and I loved every second of it.

In Death I Live is hard-hitting, gritty, bloody, and filthy. The twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat and her sexy harem of men left me panting for more.

My favorite trope is the "we can mess with her all we want, but don't you dare even look at her" trope and this book has that vibe covered in spades.

This book 🤯🥵🤯

This is the first book I've read from Lindsay Becs however I'm about to check out all her previous works ASAP.

Zora, Dom, Greyson, River and Cruz. These 5 know how to reel you in, I was transfixed! The men are dark and twisted but are not afraid to show their emotions and devotion to Zora. Zora is strong and willing to do everything she can to protect those she loves.

I wished the story hadn't finished, I wanted to know more, whether they succeeded in changing things and whether Augustine behaved!

(I received an ARC copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review)

I’m a huge Lindsay Becs fan and was skeptical when I start this book. Her other books with all the “good guys”, then going rouge with a dark RH! Needless to say she did not disappoint!

Dark, twisted, & angsty. Zora is a lost girl in & out of the system - claimed by Slater, the dark bad guy on a mission. Sent to infiltrate the Black Swans - (Dominic, River, Grayson, & Cruz) and report back to keep whom she loves most (Remi) safe. The boys are intrigued and fall for her. This RH will have you reeling. This story has so much depth I didn’t see coming.

Oh be still my beating heart. This book consumed me mind, body and soul. I fell hard for each and every one of these incredible men. Personalities so different yet they mesh so well. This storyline hooked me from the begging. With a graceful darkness Lindsay Becs blew me away with the passion, angst and steam. Zoras painful past led her to the doorstep of four incredible men. They became her downfall but not in the way you would believe. They consumed her and brought her joy she never thought she could know. Riddled with dangers unknown this book took me on the joyride of my life!

*Wow!
So let me start off by saying this is completely different from what I’m used to by Lindsay. Wasn’t exactly what I was expecting. But then again, it kind of was.
Reverse Harlem.
Zora is a great character who is/was put in a bad situation. She just needs better circumstances. That’s all I’m saying - go in blind.

*Possible triggers - read the blurb.
