Mica and Malisa Flores learn that their missing mother, Ivy, isn’t missing at all. Her sudden disappearance three years before has left the sisters devastated. They are given a mysterious journal written by their long-lost mother. Their mother was pushed back 17,000 years into the past, into the Paleolithic era. With the knowledge of their mother’s location, the twins set about making plans to go and find their mother. They find however, that planning for a trip to the past is much harder than they had anticipated. Will they make it to the past? Will they find their mother? Or will they lose that precious chance that comes only once every seven years?
HAPPINESS CAN BE FOUND AT ANYTIME IN ONES LIFE & ANYTIME IN TIME ITSELF IF YOU'RE WITH FAMILY & FRIENDS
Pushed Back : The Time Traveler's Daughters Book 2 of 2 by S.A. Ison is a very enjoyable, well written book in the Pushed Back series. The characters are not only believing but downright delightfully brought to life.
When Mica and Melissa's mother is taken from them seven years prior, the twins decided they'll try to find the portal to Paleolithic era back sixteen thousand years ago and hopefully locate their mother and Harper who was also deposited into the past with Ivy. They plan, prepare, train, and gather supplies that will help them survive their journey if they are able to locate the time-travel portal at the appropriate time and place.
As the girls take college classes to gain any knowledge that will help them in what they think will reunite them with their mother, a fellow college student feeling wronged sets out to torment them and murder both in revenge for a mistaken event inwhich is only happened in his messed up mind.
The girls are reunited with their mom and Harper with the help of a couple of indigenous natives and find themselves with more friends and family than they had back in their previous time.
This is a very great story, and you'll be enjoying the characters, their struggles and gains, and their love and compassion. It's a book and series for all who enjoy a great book and series. I know I really enjoyed them and hope you will also.
The first, Pushed Back, was good, written like a journal that was left for the daughters to find. This 2nd one is just as good, written in 3rd person POV and flipping back and forth between times.
It was great to read about the preparations this time compared with the utter lack that Ivy and Harper had! Very good story and characters with the occasional baddie thrown in.
I absolutely LOVED this series. I was hooked on the first one and the second one was just as addictive as the first one. I absolutely love time travel. If you want a book you can't put down read this series.
I'm so sick of creeping forward in time at a snail's pace. I think I'll select R for Reverse. Ooo, did I go a bit too far? Why is there a Mastadon on my back lawn, eating my tomatoes?
This is the logical conclusion to Book 1 and since there's a couple of years between them, the writing style shows increased maturity (like cheese) and sophistication (like wine) with a mild, but tasty flavour (like French bread) and a lovely, well-rounded ending (err...more wine metaphors?). I enjoyed this one immensely, especially the big family get-togethers...which I personally, usually avoid.
Anyone adventuresome would gain a great insight as to preparedness in most situations regarding camping or even hiking in new surroundings. I think the author did a pretty good job of weaving character with actions. We learn just enough about the characters and the living arrangements to understand it and appreciate what people may have lived through. I liked the story and the eventualities. At time.we I even felt that I was there!
I'm so glad I saw this today. I've been waiting for this book for years! Wonderful, fun, light hearted read. I know its unlikely the author will write another, but I'm going to hold out hope for another book set in the same world. Don't miss this one or book one. In fact I'm going to reread book 1 now and then Dr this one again right now!
Read the first one, and loved it. Then saw there would be a sequel. Waited and waited, then yesterday saw it was here. Too quick a read, would have enjoyed more about life after the reunion. Have enjoyed almost every book by the author I have tried. Now a wait again
The continuing story of Ivy and Harper is a delightful read. Their ability to adapt and thrive is something we should all take lessons from even if we don’t live 17,000 years ago. I wouldn’t mind if these stories were fleshed out even more. I’m sure I’ll read them a third time‼️
I so enjoy this writer's style. Her descriptions made me feel as though I were right there. Anyone who is interested in living life away from what is customary will enjoy reading her books
I have read 3 of Ison's books now and have really enjoyed them would recommend them to anyone who would like a good tail with some interesting things about the past included , I will read more of her books .
I just loved this book. Every bit as good as the first in the series. I wish there were more! I read the book in one day as I just didn't want to stop reading! Bring on more time travel books!
I have really enjoyed these books. Such great storytelling. Sure hope there might be further stories of these folks. Feels like you’re right there with them.
Alternate universe, time travel portal Very much a continuation of the previous book, and equally lacking in research. Corn was developed in Central Mexico between 5,000 and 3,000 years ago and only reached Ohio (Woodhenge) around 1200-1300 from Cahokia (later Mississippian period). The story works as escapist fare. And the lure of "simpler, more pristine living," people were complicated back then, too.
And it long past time for the MYTH that the mega fauna were hunted to extinction. Archeologist Tom Dillehay's work in southern Chile shows humans were present at least 18,000 years ago, and Dillehay says there's another nearby site at least 30,000 years old. Last year's discovery of fossilized human footprints dated around 23,000 years ago in New Mexico confirm the long held American notion the Americas were populated via Beringia 12,000 years ago to at last being fully discredited. If humans didn't wipe out the mega fauna after coexisting for thousands of years, what evidence exists other than "Man the Mighty Mammoth Hunter" fantasy? None, and Richard Ardrey's now discredited "killer ape" hypothesis sold a lot of paperback books but didn't hold up to serious scrutiny. The idea that humans over hunted mega fauna is part of that "killer ape" and "mighty hunter" idea; there's just no evidence. Yes there are massive kill sites, but these are extremely rare, and don't repeat. Yet our author trots these these ideas out. Sigh. Primitive technology isn't better. It's just more brutal and short.
The story isn't bad if you ignore the glaring scientific inaccuracies and impossible events (and I am NOT talking about random temporal portals, but rather that acid-treated paper disintegrates in less than a hundred years, ink and pencil fade, and the journal wasn't even sealed but rather buried in soil where moisture would also dissolve the leather and skins in a short time).
If you want a feel-good story, it's not bad, though it's a bit pricey for the story length (less than 170 pages), this fits the bill. Easily read in an afternoon. The Western was much better researched and presented. Diverting.
Another greatly enjoyable read, after book one. This author has a gift for weaving an intricate story with a realistic and delightful caste of characters. The setting, including the flora and fauna that contributed to their survival was challenging, but the most entertainment was found in the caste of characters figuring out how to meet the challenge and thrive.
I really enjoyed this book much better than the first. I realize, though that was needed to read before this one. I trudged through the other one, I really liked this one. It showed how life was so simple but scary..with the predators. I'm glad Ross took their advice. I couldn't stand Trina. Enjoy!
Couldn’t stop reading this book till the end. Loved it all the way through. I cried and laughed with the characters out loud. What a wonderful author. I love all the books I have read by this author and can’t wait for more.
This series is wholesome with adventures, learning and lots of feel good , warm your heart parts. I really love this authors thoughts and style. I’m so glad that there is more to read that this author has written.
These books were very enjoyable. Obviously very fanciful, but enjoyable. They were hard to put down. I would like to learn some of the things they did. I could have lived without the language. But it wasn’t as bad as it could have been.
I truly enjoyed both Pushed Back books and all the books by SA Ison. I am in NC and enjoyed the story of time travel back 17,000 years ago, in the VA/NC area. It all seemed very possible. Looking forward to another good read by SA Ison.
Books one and two should be optioned for a Mini Series. Great characters, lots of excitement, and wonderful action.Have enjoyed the first two books but these are my faves I think!
I really enjoyed book 2, but it ticked all my favorite genres. Time Travel, True Survival tales and of course Naked and Afraid! There were just a few hokey parts, but not nearly enough to make me want to stop reading it. S.A. Ison does it again!
I expected to find the story of Mica and Melissa to be a rehash of book 1. How nice it was to enjoy their story. Mr Ison has skillfully given life these characters.
