DORA

Rate this book

As the saying goes, “history is written by the winners.” And in the case of Nazi rocket scientist turned naturalized American Werner von Braun, it was also written my Walt Disney.
It was Disney’s series with von Braun and numerous popular magazine articles that brought him to popular American culture and ultimately made him a hero of the Apollo moon program.
But author Jean Michel knows Neil Armstrong was metaphorically walking in the dust of those murdered at the V-2 rocket assembly concentration camp of Dora where von Braun’s slave labor came from. Most Americans recognize the camp names of Dachau, Auschwitz or Bergen-Belsen, but Dora is largely forgotten. John Michel believe that is by design.
For that reason, this is an important book, for as they also say, those who forget (or ignore) history are doomed to repeat it.
