The kingdom of Nellan, located in the heart of the continent, has enjoyed a prosperous century following the vicious Yinka Wars, where men fought monsters that ruled the midnight skies. Despite a contagious virus afflicting the populace, humans have begun expanding their domain and infringing on old boundaries. Driven by a sense of curiosity and a determination to cure the Giddh Virus, young doctor Ankita Dravid joins her cousin in scouting the border of the Faded Forest. What she discovers, however, will have lasting social and political impacts on the entire kingdom, for Ankita isn't the only one curious about the Others who dwell across the river...
Phenomenal read that grabs you at the first chapter. It was difficult to put down and I was able to get through it in two days. I highly recommend this book as a fantastical, adventurous, thrilling journey with fun characters and addicting storyline. A must read for anyone who loves fantasy or just excellent books in general!
I fell in love with this story from the first chapter. The character development was phenomenal, and I absolutely loved the human/non-human relationship. It also covers deeper moral issues seamlessly. Excellent world building, too. I’m looking forward to the next book.
I really liked this! A fun read about two different cultures coming together and how that can go well or badly. I liked that Ankita's culture base wasn't Standard Western European, which was a nice change of pace. Also, I'm a sucker for romance between humans and non-humans, and this was a sweet one (spiciness level: kissing and snuggling only!)
