Club Darkness #2

Broken by His Hand

Rate this book
She will be mine, but first she must be broken.

Sophia Russo tried to keep away from me, but just thinking about what I would do to her left her panties drenched. She tried to hide it, but I didn’t let her. I tore those soaked panties off, spanked her bare little bottom until she had no doubt who owned her, and then took her long and hard.

She begged and screamed as she came for me over and over, but she didn’t learn her lesson…

She didn’t just come back for more. She thought she could disobey me and get away with it.

This time I’m not just going to punish her. I’m going to break her.

Publisher’s Note: Broken by His Hand is a stand-alone novel which is the second entry in the Club Darkness series. It includes spankings and sexual scenes. If such material offends you, please don’t buy this book.

*** Book Q & A***

* How did the book make you feel?: This book annoyed me a tad. The premise was interesting, but I wasn’t all about the execution.
* How do you feel about how the story was told?: There were some typos. It’s told in dual POV. Some of the characters’ conclusions and actions seemed illogical to me.
* What did you think about the main characters?: Sophia was self-righteous and very annoying. Her motivations and unpredictability were perplexing. For Michael it was obviously instalove and I never really bought it. Also, I could not feel their chemistry at all.
* Which parts of the book stood out to you?: The romance scenes were well written, other than the typos.
* What themes/tropes did you detect in the story?: patient-doctor romance
* What did you think about the ending?: They end up together, but I wasn’t convinced they should’ve ended up together. I didn’t like the h.
* What is your impression of the author?: I’ve read other books by this author, and none have blown me away.

More importantly, what he needs most is a partner who understands the definition of submission and he believes that Sophia was the one.
She a strong woman but the more that he talks of things that he wants to do her, the rich monotone of his voice grabs at her insides wrapping around her soul. Michael was determined to own Sophia body, heart and soul no matter the cost. There was an allure there that makes it impossible for him to stay away from her. He had told Sophia that there was consequences for showing up late for drinks and she told him that he was crazy because he doesn't own her. Michael followed her into ladies room in spanked her.
He later walked her home and f***ed hard against the wall in the alley. Sophia was just as hooked on Michael as he was on her. Michael found out that his accident was not really an accident, but instead attempted murder of his life relating to the club. Someone shootout his tires. Another attempt was made on his life again but he saw the lights before they shoot and took cover.
Sophia was getting gifts with the same cryptic messages as he was. Because of Michael Sophia life was also in danger from the man whose holding the grudge against the Dunmore brothers. But Michael still can't stay away from her and she can't stay away either even though she knows that he dangerous. He now considers her as his, and he protects what's his and family.

As more of his father’s enemies close in, Michael is the target in a dangerous game of cat and mouse. Dr. Sophia never could’ve imagined that saving Michael’s life would irrevocably change hers. Michael is intrigued by the defiant spitfire and vows to make Sophia his. Sophia can’t deny the desire Michael makes her feel & when Sophia is put in the crosshairs as his enemy taunts him, Michael will do whatever it takes to protect her. Sophia can’t believe Michael’s arrogance as she fights against her growing feelings for him as she just can’t see how a relationship between them can work when they are from two different worlds. Michael knows exactly what to do to bring Sophia to the heights of ecstasy & he’ll show Sophia that she means everything to him as they fight for their future together. With the threats of violence from his enemies increasing, Michael and his brothers are on high alert but when Sophia gets taken, all bets are off as they try to rescue her before Michael loses the love of his life.

Terrific book I could not put it down.

Oh yeah this is a terrific book, I just couldn't put it down. This is a sequel to "Bent to His Will: A Dark Billionaire Romance (Club Darkness Book 1) and so it is part of the Club Darkness series. I really like this book and I hope that there will be another volume coming. The first book was Gregory and Autumn and this book has Michael and Sophia, next book would have Christopher and some one who we have yet been introduced to. In this book there is the search for the mystery ledger and there is someone that is trying to kill Michael we find out quite a bit in the end and it is worth it. In the process Michael meets Sophia and decides that he simply must have her and there is lot of spanking and domination and sex including anal sex and the sex is quite hot. A very satisfying story is what this. I look forward to more by Piper Stone.

Ugh I’m sorry because while I loved the first prequel to this book and I sometimes love Piper Stone’s writing, I couldn’t stand this book! It was the writing for me. The writing style was so strange!! It was aggravating. There were so many times I wanted to just rip my hair out. I rolled my eyes at the cheesiness and corniness sometimes.

The hero and heroine had 0 chemistry in my opinion. I just didn’t feel a connection at all. There was hardly any dialogue at all between them. I felt there were way too many wasted pages, the plot was weak, I felt as though this could have been written better.

The book could have been shorter and should have been. Less words and make the words that are on the page count. It was so long and pages and pages of blah blah useless monologue which added no value to the plot.

Waste of a book in my opinion.

Oh, the heat is HOT, and the physical chemistry is captivating so be careful you may just get burned all the heat coming off these pages. There were some "oh no" "oh wow" " what the what" moments and add in uncanny mishaps, ups, downs, drama, intrigue, and suspense the good kind that makes you turn the page until there are no more to turn. Michael is the oldest brother who is the money man and after being injured a car accident he goes to see Dr. Sophia Russo and from the moment of meeting there is an instant attraction and chemistry hotter than fire. Being the professional she is she of course tries to hide, or better word ignore that said attraction and chemistry. Michael being the Alpha he is doesn’t let it go and he always get what he wants so while trying to figure out and understand who wants him dead he presumes her. However, for Sophia she thinks he is the kind man she hates and sure she will never like what goes on behind the doors of Club Darkness. Once they decide to meet up he learns his accident wasn’t an accident but an attempt on his life and he feels that maybe Sophia is part of that or she may actually need protection until it is all solved. Will these two get to know each other… will she give him a chance… will they find out who is after him and can they find happiness?

What a great read! This is the first book I have read from Piper Stone and it will not be the last. I will be going back and reading the first book in this series.

Michael is one of the owners of Club Darkness. He is the kind of man that fathers want their daughters to stay away from. He is dark, dangerous and a control freak in all aspects of his life. Dr. Sophia Russo is a strong, independent woman who happens to work at the hospital Michael is brought into after an accident. The attraction for Michael and Sophia is instantaneous. Although Michael represents the kind of man Sophia despises, she cannot stop thinking about him.

This book is full of drama, action, twists and turns and LOTS of passion. Michael and Sophia have this chemistry that is WOW! Sophia however does not back down from Michael and does not want to give in to him as she feels it would make her weak and owned. She will argue with him and stand up for what she believes in. Michael gets more excited when Sophia “breaks” the rules.

I cannot wait for the next story to come out in this series. I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy through Booksprout ARC’s for an honest review.

Mystery, suspense and a passionate romance to delight the reader!
by sewsummore

Michael Dunmore came into Sophia's life as a patient whose life she had saved. He was a powerful and determined man who was used to controlling the people around him. Sophia was a doctor, one that inspired respect from all those around her, and she had no intention of bowing down his autocratic demands. However, Michael had lit a flame within her that she was helpless to resist, and he taught her that from pain comes pleasure, want, and need. I found this book an addictive read as Michael and Sophia become enmeshed in a powerful battle of twisted revenge that threatens both their lives. Piper stone is one of my favorite authors, her ability to craft a story that grabs the reader from the start with twists you never expect and passionate romances that delight. This book is all that and more!

Broken by His Hand was a satisfactory read.

It had intrigue, danger and dominance.

Unfortunately for me it missed the mark to be a great read.

Whew I semi prepared for a dark romance (genre) but this book took me many places from beginning to end. I learned this is actually the second book in the series so assuming order is not necessary regarding reading. The main characters Michael and Sophia met after he was in an accident and she was the attending surgeon in duty. Michael is the oldest brother of three that own an BDSM club.

There is suspense, action, deceit, heat, discovery, revenge, and so much more in the pages of this book.

The harder they are the deeper they fall.

Michael, dominant, dark, sadistic and Sophia, intelligent, dedicated and bratty are brought together by an act of violence and their relationship only gets more intense and interesting from there.
Enemies, betrayal, conspiracy, secrets, BDSM, erotic sizzling scenes, danger, desire and love!!!! 2 brothers taken down by love and 1 to go!!😊❤❤

OMG, this book was 50% suspense and 50% destiny!
I could not put this book down from the 1st page and I didn’t want it to end! Michael gets into a car accident and ends up in the E.R. where Sophia is on duty and saves his life. The attraction between the two is off the charts. Michael’s stubbornness to get back to the club has him checking out of the hospital ASAP, but not before asking Sophia to meet him. While the three brothers try to figure out who is out to destroy them from their father’s days of running the club, the plot twists abound around Michael and Sophia with seemingly intertwined threats. This book was a suspenseful and steamy read and definitely a one-sitting read!

This is book two in the Club Darkness series. Michael is the oldest brother. He is the one that takes care of the money. When he is injured in a car accident, he comes under the care of Dr. Sophia Russo. When they meet there is an instant attraction between them. Sophia tries to fight it, but Michael is everything she craves. He becomes her dominant while trying to figure out who wants him dead.

I enjoyed the story. Michael is an intense character that you have to read about to believe. He wants everything from Sophia, but he will protect her, even from herself. The story that has continued from the first book is still not solved. That will be in the next book with Christopher.

Sophia is a doctor who helps Michael after his car accident. They are attracted to each other after the first meeting. Michael may have put Sophia's life in danger. Michael's accident was not an accident. Sophia quits her job after someone tells her boss that she was at Club Darkness but she quits. Now she is wondering what she got herself into. Michael sees Sophia's submissive side and wants to dominate her. Great characters great flowing story line, it is all wonderful. Cannot wait for the next installment.

I loved Micheal... and wished I was Sophia ! A very dark powerful man who takes what and who he wants, when he wants. As he should. His club. Club Darkness sounds like it would fit perfectly in any major city in the world, full of a select group of the rich and powerful who go to relax and indulge their true nature.
Piper has excelled herself yet again with this dark and oh so hot read.

I'm not really a fan of a dark romance because many times the books have humiliation or dubious consent. I was hesitant to read this book as the author categorized it as such. I'm happy I did read it because I don't consider Broken by His Hand as dark. Someone is trying to kill Michael and Sophia is the attending emergency room doctor. Their relationship makes for a good read, but history of Club Darkness is what makes the book intense. The membership is filled with some of the most powerful men and someone is looking to eliminate Michael and his brothers and expose the club's secrets.

This is the perfect continuation of the story as started in the first book of the series. This book focuses on the eldest son and he is very intense. An immediate attraction to the doctor who saved his life starts a relationship between them that has great chemistry, intriguing scenes and entertaining dialogue. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

book 2 in the club darkness series, and focuses on Michael the eldest Dunmore brother and Sophia. When Michael (one owner of club darkness) is in an accident and sent to hospital he meets the strong headed Sophia. Their attraction is electric from their first meet but can Sophia hand over control to Michael within the club confines and out of it? and when trouble comes for them can Michael protect Sophia? a well written rmance with spankings, hot scenes, desire, twists and a great story line that keeps you hooked to the pages!

Michael Dunmore is the eldest of the three brothers who run Club Darkness, its members the elite of the world, in Washington, D.C. After he is in a car accident, he is treated by Dr. Sophia Russo in the hospital, where she saves his life. He is instantly drawn to her, with her fierce, take-charge personality. He wants her, and he always gets what he wants. He gives her his card, and invites her to Bar Nouveau, a local jazz club, for a drink.
Sophia resents her strong attraction to him. He is exactly the kind of man she hates. She is also disgusted by what happens behind the doors of Club Darkness. She has to worry about her career, and has no time for a man. She throws the card in the trash, but is still inexplicably drawn to him, and goes to the jazz club. He is waiting for her at the back of the room, and they spend an intense evening together before he walks her home.
Michael's car accident turns out to be no accident. There are bullet holes found in his car. He is concerned that Sophia is either involved somehow or will become a target.
She meets him at Club Darkness, and she finally realizes how truly powerful Michael is. He wants to control and own her. Now he believes he does. At the hospital, her supervisor suspends her after threatening her when someone sees her at the club with Michael. She quits instead. On her way out, she wonders what she has gotten herself into.
He is shot outside his club, and when he goes to her brownstone, he finds she has received two flower arrangements with cryptic, threatening notes. Michael realizes he has put Sophia in danger just by being near her, but still they are drawn together. It occurs to her that she may just be losing her heart.
When he realizes he has fallen for her, he believes he cannot have her. He takes her away on his private jet in an attempt to keep her safe, but whomever is stalking them finds them there too. Michael rushes them home, trying to figure out the mystery.
After dropping her off at home with a bodyguard, who waits outside while she showers and packs. While she is inside alone, their stalker sneaks in and takes her. They get their happily ever after, but wow the last couple of chapters are suspenseful!
This is the second installment in the Club Darkness Series, but can be read as a stand-alone.
Piper Stone is one of the best writers of dark romance novels. This one is no exception. From the first chapter, I wondered if Michael was redeemable, but I trusted Ms. Stone to make it so, while never doubting that Sophia's strength and intelligence would appeal to him. Until the end, I did not see the villain coming. This is one I will definitely re-read.

I loved the sex scenes and passion between Michael and Sophia. It was raw, unfiltered, dirty, and enticing. It was refreshing to see that she pushed back against him in his need to own her and control her. I respected her so much more as a character that she didn’t completely bend to his will just because he was rich, powerful, and had always gotten his way throughout his life.

I found it hard to follow when we finally found out who the antagonist was behind all the threats. It finally clicked that it was Brad from the hospital, the same doctor that tried to put Sophia on suspension. However, the explanation that he warned the perks that his father enjoyed when he was a member was too vague and left too many questions. Since Michael has such an issue with rage and the need to protect those he loves, why the readers believe that the justice system would prevail in bringing Brad to justice? He was going to murder Sophia because he felt Michael was responsible, for what is unclear, but it would have been more believable if Michael had hinted or planned to have someone visit Brad in lock up to put the fear of God into him. I know you’re trying to make it so he’s not completely like his father but that was portrayed in his willingness of letting the family attorney walk instead of killing him. Which still didn’t seem good enough.

Then at the end Sophia completely does a 180 about being willing to wear a collar, when she said she’s not willing to be owned? That I could get over, but what about the her willingness it get on the cross. She’s willingly to try it because she trusts Michael and wants to try new submissive aspects of pleasure, but it’s the same cross where anyone would be able to see her nakedness and what her and Michael were doing. Michael is into the Dom lifestyle, but the author never clarified if Michael would okay with sharing his submissive within viewing pleasure of everyone at the club. Especially since Sophia is still adapting to the lifestyle. I would have found it more believable if there was also a room with a cross that could be closed off from other onlookers.

This is the second book in to the series and can be read as a standalone. I thought the storyline in this book was better and much more consistent than the first book's storyline.

The saga continues with the legacy Michael's father left him and his two younger brothers. There is all of this mystery and intrigue surrounding the reopening of the club and a missing ledger. Sophie makes an entry into Michael's life, and that is it for him.

I thought that it was somewhat obvious who was behind the things happening to Michael, especially after the deliveries started to arrive for Sophia. I was surprised that Sophia didn't pick up on anything.

I thought it was Interesting how she went from this angry, imperious doctor to embracing her submissive side. It seemed to come as such a shock to her. As her submissive side started to reveal itself, her struggle with it was an eye opening experience for Sophie.

I do have to say that Michael's recuperative powers were a bit over the top in both incidents. The mystery and intrigue of this book was done much better than book 1. It didn't leave me with confusion and a ton of unanswered questions. It even wrapped up the question of Sophia's career plans. Sophie and Michael do end up with their own HEA. This would rate as 3.5 for me.

This is book two of the "Club Darkness" series and what an intense, emotional journey Piper Stone took me on. 'Broken by His Hand' is the story about Michael, the oldest of the three brothers, and Sophia, an extremely accomplished and well-respected surgeon. The story barely opens when Michael is in an automobile accident. While he's phasing in and out of consciousness, he realizes he's in the hospital, at one point he opens his eyes to see a woman who's eyes have somehow touched his very soul, and when he succumbs to the darkness. Sophia is the doctor in the emergency room when Michael is brought in and ultimately is responsible for saving his life after his heart stopped three times. The push and pull between these two are exhilarating to go through. A dangerous threat has come into Michael's world, seemingly targeting him personally. He's not sure how he feels about starting any kind of relationship at the moment with everything that's going on. Not only is Sophia having hell week at the hospital but after her best friend filled her in on some of the rumors about Michael, his brothers, and their club, she's not really sure she wants to step into that world. But the chemistry is too strong. Their walls have started to crack. Everyone has secrets. Will they share theirs? What a spectacular read. I can't wait to see what comes next.

This is a wonderfully written book that I have thoroughly enjoyed
This was an intriguing read and I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of this book and I was thrilled with the way the disciplinarian undertones had been written and I loved every moment of this book.
The characters were very well written and the storyline was simply so well written and there is no way in which I can possibly miss the way in which Michael a somewhat obsessed character with extremely intense and dark desires and he is very determined to get on with the determined and strong woman and the way Sophie are interacting with each other.
There is also the domineering man’s brother Gregory and Christopher and their interaction with Sophie Russo the surgeon that has a will of iron. Some very intense and sexy scenes make this a compelling read.

Our hero wants our heroine and is pretty sure the feeling is mutual, although she won't admit it. So he is determined to change that.

This is book two of the series but it works just fine as a standalone. All the important bits are explained early on.

This is a dark erotic romance with strong elements of D/S and punishment. The story is well written and easy to read with an intriguing cast of characters. Our hero and heroine as well developed and provide a nice focus for our story. The plot has several twists and turns which are intriguing, but the real focus is on our couple and the evolving relationship between them. If you like a dark romance, than this should be right up your alley. I certainly enjoyed it.

Highly recommended

Sophia is a surgeon who treats a trauma patient who is pushy and stubborn. That patient is Michael. He and his brothers own an exclusive Club. They've made some enemies and learned some secrets. When he sees Sophia, even in the hospital, he knows he wants her as his sub, probably not as a life partner, he's not looking for a life partner., he never has been. She is leary of this strong, dominant man. He will never give her soft or loving. He has also taken over her life. Suddenly, a threat comes to her and his family and he knows that he wants this beautiful woman forever. They need to find the threat before someone dies,

Wow, this was a page turner and absolutely captivating. Michael and his brothers had reopened Club Darkness and still have no idea where the elusive Ledger is hidden. When Michael is involved in a terrible car accident and literally dies, it’s Dr. Sophia Russo that brings him back. The moment he lays eyes on her as she waltz’s into his hospital room and promptly throws his brothers out, he experiences feelings he long ago put away. A riveting storyline filled with angst, danger, suspense, twists and turns, attempted murder, passion, discipline, and falling in love with two strong willed and controlling people. Looking forward to more of this secret ledger and what it holds.

Disconnected

I had a hard time getting into this story. Seriously I was almost ready to put it down and just walk away... I knew I had read the first book in the series but it took almost 60 or 70 pages before I remembered the previous story and how it was connected to this story... I think the first part is very important to this story, but it is missing some contexts so you know what exactly is going on. I liked the story ok after I kinda understood what was going on from the first book to this one... I do wonder if the ledger isn't in the grandfather's clock... everyone who I know who has one also knows they have room for hiding stuff. Maybe in moving they'll find it eventually.

Broken By His Hand is Beautiful.

I chose 5 stars but would give 10. It is a beautiful story as well as suspenseful in many ways. I never figured out who the individual was that was trying to kill Michael. It was a beautiful, if different kind of love story. Michael and Sophia were perfect together even though they went through some tough situations, they came out of them stronger for it. I highly recommend this book as I would all of Piper Stone's books. She is one great writer.

This is the second book in the series and can be read as a stand-alone. When Michael is in a car accident, he meets Dr. Sophia Russo. Sparks fly between them and Michael becomes her dominant, but he is also trying to find out who is trying to kill him. Can he keep Sophia safe in the process? Fast-paced read with intense chemistry and plenty of drama and steam. Great characters with lots of depth and a sizzling story. I liked it.
