Wall Street Journal bestselling author Nicole Snow returns with a fierce and hilarious office romance where two sworn enemies make undeniable lovers.

My “interview” with bosshole supreme was anything but normal.
He picked the worst day ever to chase me off my favorite park bench.
I retaliated with a spray of cinnamon latte all over his Italian shoes.
Then—for some unholy reason—Magnus Heron offered me a job.

Even his name sounds like a piece of work.
Guess what? He is.
But when you're single, broke, and barely surviving in Chicago, you hop on the gift horse offering a six-figure salary and ride.
I picked the stallion on a one-way trip to hell.

It's not the impossibly long hours working under Grump-zilla.
It's not the fact that he's snarly, demanding, horribly rich, and chiseled.
It's not even the pesky way he makes me blush every flipping time we're together.
Mag is my boss. I'm his lowly assistant. Some rules are carved in stone.

That's my mantra until we're sharing a sunset too beautiful for life.
Alone with wandering lips, whispered secrets, and disaster in the making.
The plan was simple: punch the clock, get paid, and keep hating my boss.
What's the blueprint when the office grump brings me to my knees?

Full-length enemies-to-lovers romance with the banter, intrigue, and slow-burn love worthy of a Happily Ever After. The bossman from Hades meets the hellion he totally can't stand—until he can't live without her.

She intrigues me in a way no woman ever has. I knew it the second she baptized my shoes in cinnamon latte.

Once in a while I like to take a risk and buy a random book off Amazon and I'm so glad I took a chance on this author because Office Grump ticked all of my boxes! It was the perfect office rom-com I was in the mood for. The sizzling chemistry, hilarious banter and slow burn romance made this read so addictive! How is it possible that I’ve never read anything by Nicole Smith before?? Her writing style was so on point, it hurt my soul to put this book down and do actual work…

Plot:

It’s Friday the Thirteenth…

Sabrina Bristol (23) is a graphic designer who’s barely getting by in big town Chicago. After being let go from her job and stood up on a Tinder date, she decides to treat herself to a cinnamon latte and plop down on a park bench.

Used to getting what he wants, the insufferable CEO of Heron Communications, Magnus Heron (31), asks her (none too kindly) to get off the park bench for his company’s photoshoot. Completely unimpressed by his lack of manners, Sabrina fires back. And before they know it, their heated exchange leads to her spraying her coffee all over his expensive shoes.

After the impression she leaves with him, Magnus gets his HR manager to track her down and hires her to be his executive assistant, a job that no one seems to be able to keep due to his tyrannical slave driver ways.

Without much choice and rent day looming near, Sabrina begrudgingly accepts the offer. What ensues after is both simultaneously the most hilarious and endearing CEO/Assistant rom-com I’ve read in a while.

Characters

“I can’t say I really like the forced socializing. It felt like high school on steroids.”

Sabrina was a feisty hellion. I loved her so much! She's a little quirky, superstitious and incredibly strong willed. Her witty and spitfire personality had me bursting in laughter the whole time. Nothing beats reading about a heroine you would totally love to befriend. Sabrina was also a really strong heroine; I really admired her drive to prove people wrong while not letting others overstep their boundaries. I also love how she took care of her parents. Sabrina was just such a fantastic character through and through.

I LOVED LOVED LOVED the hero! If you look up “bosshole” in the urban dictionary, you’d probably find Magnus listed there. He’s a grumpy workaholic with a stick up his butt. Despite his egotistical and assholish behaviour, Magnus was such a lovable character. Beneath his hard-ass exterior, he had a strong set of beliefs he adhered to. One of them being his determination to not fall into the footsteps of his scumbag father.

Office Grump had many wonderful secondary characters too. I really loved Sabrina’s dynamic with her parents. Her mum and dad were just so adorable, living in their little hobbit hole of a house! Her mom, a romance writer, was such a scene stealer with her weird romance stories. Crack up! Sabrina’s friend/roommate, Paige, was an interesting character. She was just as feisty Sabrina, if not more, and I can’t wait to read her book.

The Romance

Meanwhile, Sabrina Bristol glares at me like she’s holding an invisible cigarette she’d love to stab out on my forehead.

I really enjoyed Magnus and Sabrina’s haters to lover’s romance. The moment I read their meet-cute I just knew I would love this book. The constant banter and the sassy emails between the pair made this book such an unforgettable experience. The way they clashed and fought each other was basically a drawn-out game of foreplay. I love that Sabrina was so unimpressed by Magnus’s appalling attitude and that she didn't swoon at his feet despite the hot chemistry. Even when she saw how impressive Magnus could be, she rolled her eyes at his delusions of grandeur and was always knocking him down a few pegs.

“What the hell is on your laptop? You can’t come to executive meetings looking like a college sophomore. Is that sticker supposed to be garlic?”
“Yep. Garlic wards off evil spirits and vampires. Like my boss, for one.

The alternating dual POV was a great choice for this story because watching Sabrina and Magnus try to figure each other out was so amusing. I LOVED THE WAY THAT Magnus was enamoured with Sabrina from the very beginning. Despite his grumpy and offhandish ways, when he falls, he falls hard! Before he could even register, Sabrina had changed his stone-cold heart. He was always doing little things for her, constantly aware of her comforts. Even though he was such a hard-ass, he made sure Sabrina always had her favourite cinnamon latte and pastries – SO CUTE AND THOUGHTFUL!

“Don’t forget I know my place, too. I’m so fucking yours forever, Brina Heron, and it’s the only place I was ever meant for.”

The sweet moments between them were also incredibly tender. The slow burn was perfect; it was slow but not agonizingly slow. There was a substantial amount of time for Magnus and Sabrina to build a solid foundation which I always appreciate. If you ask me, their romance was *chef’s kiss*

Other thoughts / Criticisms:

Okay, so this book was CHUNKY – 478 pages to be precise. Did it need to be that long? Honestly, I didn’t mind the length because I loved the back-and-forth banter between Sabrina and Magnus, but I do feel like the story lost its momentum around the three-quarter mark. Magnus being assholish got a little old because it broke my heart to see Sabrina get hurt like that BUUUUUT it did make for some pretty good grovelling. I loved it when he got all jealous thinking Sabrina had moved on.

There was quite a bit of drama regarding Magnus’s dad and other scandals which was heavily skimmed over in the end. I also thought that this book would focus more on the forbiddenness of a relationship between a CEO and an EA but it doesn't. I didn’t quite buy into some of the workplace matters so this book definitely requires a willing suspension of disbelief. But I mean, I got my perfect epilogue and HEA, so who cares? (Also, if I really had to nitpick, I hate the cover. Seriously, don't be staring into my soul like that...).

Overall, I loved Office Grump. I’m so glad I took a chance on this author because it paid off! If you’re in the mood for an all-consuming office romance with lots of wicked banter and an intense slow burn romance, definitely add this book to your TBR! Now… I’m off to binge Snow’s backlist! Apparently she writes small town romances too… And ya’ll know I’m a fan.

i wish i could get a high paying job as easily as spitting my latte on some hotboss CEO’s fancy ass shoes.

She gave me faith. She gave me fire. Then she reached down inside me and gave me back that crumpled rose in my rib cage I thought would never bloom again.

this book was a lot of fun. it was very romcom movie-esque, complete with the corny public grand gestures. i give my respect for the MCs’ workaholic-ness. their banter was amusing. loved that the heroine was a spitfire and didnt cower from the hero despite the age difference and their position as boss vs. assistant. on the other hand, i also felt like she was too willing and forgiving. she never at least TRIED to stop his advances. whenever he had family issues and took his frustration out on her, she was still worried for him.

meanwhile, as much as i was living for it, i also got tired of the hero’s hot and cold behavior. the grovelling was great and LOL entertaining. however, i felt like his asshole-ness never really changed through a meaningful character development. it was more like the author had decided he had messed up enough times, so she made the heroine dumped him, and it was time to wrap it up with some chick flick worthy grovel and ride off to the sunset HEA. not saying that there werent moments when he was being sweet, sexy, and thoughtful.

the forbidden relationship aspect was a little unconvincing. though i suppose it couldve been worse and messier. but then, maybe i was also hoping for a bit more drama??? i didnt like how the hero handled it—hiding, not telling HR and making official statement sooner. the fact that it took him some lecturing to go after the heroine, nothing wrong with it but also proved she deserved better imo. on another note, the side characters were lovely. i enjoyed all of their page time. overall, my issues notwithstanding, i liked this more than i didnt.

“Don’t forget I know my place, too. I’m so fucking yours forever, Brina Heron, and it’s the only place I was ever meant for.”

if you liked this book, i HIGHLY recommend:

I originally DNF'ed this when the typical hero f-up happens. Enemies to lovers? Boss and assistant? The hero's gonna f up. And it was just as typical and expected and done a million times before. So yeah, I rolled my eyes really hard and quit.

But then I got curious...
And wasted the rest of my day.

What bothers me the most is that Magnum douche never really changes. He CONSISTENTLY talks down to the h, insults her, tortures her and refuses to apologize or lower himself in any way for her. And she constantly goes back to him, asking if HE's okay and what SHE can do to make things better. He mistreats her and she's the one that grovels? I regret ever coming across this book.

2 stars just because there's no ow drama, this book managed to avoid at least that.

Also, I skipped ALL the sex scenes so I'm thinking the heroine wasn't a virgin? I hope she wasn't. I'm not sure why I couldn't read them. Maybe because I saw NO chemistry between these two and I wasn't interested in their "sexy" times.

When I started Office Grump, I like it. I thought this is the book that finally nailed it. The banter, the explosive chemistry are just so good and funny. Miss Snow had the talent to start her story well.

Alas, as the story progresses, that's where everything went downhill. There are too much plot/ focus/ twist/ explanation tjat derailing the romance. To be honest somewhere in the middle I got bored.

Anyway, it is still an OK book.

All over the place review but here it is

I liked the main characters and I loved the fact that there was no OW or OM drama (except for that date the h had which I don’t really wanna consider one because he just ran off). H was different here he doesn’t date around much and as far as I know has been celibate for quite awhile.

I liked how their relationship was sometimes but unfortunately there was no chemistry.

I would say this is on the long side which I would have preferred it more to be 200 pages shorter but it is what it is.

I think the h deserved more because she was just so caring and giving and the H would get upset about something and take it out on her. I liked how she doesn’t take any shit from him though and is very strong.

The H had a kind side to him which was nice to see.

Overall I think this was a nice read and quite surprising because I expected to DNF this from the start.

It’s been a while since I read a Nicole Snow book… what took me so long? Lol glad I finally got onto this series (fb book challenge accepted 👏🏻)

Sabrina (23) just lost her job. She’s down in her luck and feeling sorry for herself. So what does she do? Well, she goes and buys herself a cinnamon latte and goes to the park to reflect on her life. She’s enjoying her introspection when she’s asked to move because she’s blocking the shot of an important shoot. Does she care. Nope. She’s gonna enjoy her coffee, slowly, because she gives no f’s. But then, a handsome blue-eyed man demands that she finish her coffee so she can leave. So she does… and she does it the best way she can- by spitting what’s left of her coffee onto the man’s velvet (or suede) shoes 🤣😅.

Magnus (31) can’t believe the audacity of this woman. When he peeks at her work portfolio and sees she has experience with ads, plus she has a feisty personality, he decides to hire her. He keeps losing EAs and he needs one desperately. Plus, her salary is hundreds and thousands. She’ll take it 💁🏻‍♀️.

What I liked-
—that Magnus only has eyes for Sabrina. As soon as he hires her, he only wants her 👀. I also love that he’s not a manhooooar. It’s actually been a while since he’s been smexual- he’s so busy he doesn’t have time

—how feisty Sabrina (Brina) could be. She learns when the pick her battles and when she could question Magnus since he’s her boss, but she still manages to retain a backbone and not succumb to his grumpiness.

—the banter. I giggled a lot
”You know what they say about large hands?” he whispers, intetrrupting evil thoughts. “Huh?” My face heats. “No, what?” “All the better to handle large hoses,” he rumbles.

—the tension. From the beginning, there’s this rawness to their tension. I love chemistry-filled pages
His finger pumps in and out again, stroking against fragile, insanely sensitive places I didn’t know I had. I’m reeling. Wrecked. Thoughtless. “Mag, we shouldn’t—” “You worry too much. Let me help you stay quiet.” His lips seal mine shut and his tongue chases me into delirium.

—the smexy times. This is medium burn… and oh so delicious. Their first kiss is at 41% and full smexxy time by 62%. Magnus is ALL about pleasing Sabrina. He’s obsessed with her curvy body too 👀

—the grovel. Magnus messes up, so he needs to make up for his mistake. And Sabrina doesn’t give in easily 💁🏻‍♀️ 💅

—the side characters. From Ruby to Armstrong to Paige, shoot, even her parents were a delight

What I wanted more of:
—when Magnus messes up, I would’ve liked him to be a little bit more… ahem… aggressive 😅 in his apology. Maybe a little bit more… um… alpha👀? Lol

Overall, I loved it. I’m excited to read book 2

⚠️safety squad⚠️
-no cheating/sharing/owd/omd
-H hasn’t had smex in a loooooong time
-no c0nd0ms/they’re both clean/she’s on the pill

Office Grump gave me all the bantering I could ask for and more!

In it, you will meet Sabrina and Magnus. She is very feisty and completely lovable. Honestly, I was completely in love with her personality the entire time. As for Magnus, oh man, I loved his boss-hole-ness as well. He's a very relatable grumpy workaholic in my eyes. He somehow, magically really, became a lot more likable once Sabrina came into the picture.

Now these two weren't the only lovable ones in my eyes. I loved Sabrina's family as well. They were just really adorable and always put a smile on my face. I felt bad for Magnus though since he didn't want to end up like his dad but since he was a stubborn asshole in so many people's eyes.. it was kind of hard. At least in the beginning.

Other than that, I really enjoyed seeing every tiny detail through their POV. Mostly because of the bantering - which was hilarious in my eyes. It made the romance easy to devour as well. The chemistry was there and the sexual tension was delightful. I think I just really enjoyed this book today and I can't wait to jump into the next book.

In the end, I'm definitely going to dive into the sequel. I just need more. So much more.

A hot, steamy and emotionally charged romance, this enemies to lovers, office romance will deliver in a big way.

Their first meeting leaves an impression on them both. Sabrina left hoping to never see his infuriating face again. One would think Magnus would run the other direction from the crazy he witnessed, however he respected her backbone. Most people cower before him and she was not even slightly intimidated. This unexpected run in may just be fate. She's newly unemployed and he's looking for a new executive assistant. Magnus may have just met his match.

Sabrina gets the offer to interview at HeronComm and cannot believe that it is real after her run in with the infamous Magnus Heron. But when the bills are stacking up, she makes the decision to go for it. A job opportunity she cannot walk away from, leaves her with a boss that is practically unbearable. He works her like a dog, but she rises to every challenge.

Magnus is known to be a workaholic that demands one hundred percent all the time. His past executive assistances usually run for the hills within the first month of employment. He'll push her as far as he can, but he never expects that while he pushes, his attraction to her just pulls him in.

Magnus and Sabrina are FIRE! She never backs down and he's just trying to keep things professional. When tensions run high, Magnus crosses that line between boss and employee and Sabrina is smitten. Keeping things professional in the office will not be an easy task. He's trying to escape the sins of his father, but he doesn't want to let her go. Life happens and the lines get blurred even further. She's the lifeline he needs to help him navigate his new responsibilities, but he's still working through his own baggage.

Magnus will have to get his priorities in order and lay it all on the line if he wants to win the girl.

I love a sexy office romance and this story brought the heat and the drama to keep you invested. Sabrina was a strong, capable heroine that rose to every occasion. She definitely held her own and earned Magnus' respect as well as his heart. Magnus was the grumpy, billionaire, CEO who needed to learn that there was more to life than just work. When he hired Sabrina, he gained more than an executive assistant. He finally got the family he deserved. A memorable read with humor, sass and a love that was worth fighting for.

I've said it before, I'll say it again, enemies to lovers is only fun when the protagonists are equals, not when one has 100% of the power. I like that the heroine here isn't a doormat, but it doesn't change how incredibly lopsided the dynamic is. And beyond that, in an attempt to manufacture drama and keep the love/hate trope going, the hero is just insufferable.

And in case the author is reading her reviews - your math is badly off.

3 stars. This book wasn’t bad - but there were a few parts that really didn’t work for me.

This is an office romance - the hero hires the heroine to be his executive assistant - and then fights his desire for her throughout most of the book. There’s a lot of pushing and pulling from the hero, he’s an OTT grump who frankly wasn’t always believable in his actions. I liked the heroine - but once again, her reactions weren’t always believable and she was an extreme pushover when it came to the hero.

First, I liked the way this book started, I was hooked into the story rather quickly and did my best to ignore the yellow flags that were jumping out at me. I kept thinking that some of the references the author was making would end up being different than what I thought, which would have made the storyline make more sense.

So I’ll give a few details to clarify my point, sorry for the spoilers below.

The whole premise of the story revolves around how the hero wants to be different than his horrible father. Supposedly his father did something SO AWFUL that no one at the company (the hero’s father was the former owner and CEO) will even discuss the past. It’s THAT bad - to he unspeakable. I truly expected that it would be something SO HORRENDOUS based on the descriptions that it would make me go “OMG”. I mean, no one wants to talk about it what he did… I just couldn’t imagine what could be so awful, but my expectations were high. As it turned out, he did do something really bad - he forced his intern into a sexual relationship or she would have lost her job - then got her pregnant, fired her, and paid out a settlement to get rid of her. It’s bad, but is it so bad as to be unspeakable? Something so bad that no one would even tell the heroine when she asks point blank multiple times? It’s not just the hero who doesn’t discuss it, but it’s this big office secret that no one will ever talk about and looks askance at anyone who asks. The way this part was dramatized was just OTT and unbelievable.

Next, the heroine is pretty ridiculous when it comes to the hero. He treats her “SO POORLY” by telling her to go away. I mean, this part was also make out to be more dramatic/bad than it actually was written. With the way she reacted, and everyone in the book reacted, I expected the hero to be cussing her out and telling her he 🍆💦 her mother. Or something worse than just saying “LEAVE NOW!” He basically just pushes her away when he gets cold feet about being too much like his father and says like three words to push her away, nothing insulting or even bad. And she runs away like a kicked puppy acting like he murdered her whole family. BUT THEN, she comes back after minimal apology. Literally the big conflict is resolved after he speaks the words “I love you”. Yes she pushes him away for a long time, and doesn’t immediately run back. But it really didn’t take much actual talking when she does forgive him.

So as I’m writing this, I’m realizing that the quality of the dialogue was just not great, which is probably why I felt there was a lot lacking, especially at the end. I needed more deep conversations, not just the shallow basic stuff. There’s some great banter at the beginning, but it never evolved into more. Every discussion between the H&h felt extremely surface level. The times when they were supposedly having serious discussions were very short and underdeveloped.

Between that, and the overly dramatic reactions to not actually very dramatic events, this book feel pretty flat for me. I had a hard time finishing the final 20%, and ended up skimming a lot. I also felt like there were probably two too many sex scenes, which felt stale after the first couple.

Anyways, this isn’t the worst book, but idk that I would really recommend it. I might try another by this author eventually. I know a lot of my friends liked this book, so maybe I’m being overly harsh?

Safe; no virgins, hero not a manwhore, no scenes with OM/OW, hero has been celibate for about a year, no cheating, no major OW drama, just some jealousy. Heroine does go on a date with OM, but it ends pretty quickly and nothing happens.

A Snow romance WITHOUT suspense? Blasphemy! Well, honestly, I kinda liked that it was so different from her usual - at least in some ways. I seriously have no idea how this author writes so quickly, because her books are LONG and they come out frequently. I'll admit to being a little burned out on her growly alphas and the danger they find themselves in, so it was nice to mix things up a bit. Magnus is still growly, but mostly in the bedroom, and the storyline is pure office romance. Sabrina is no damsel in distress, and the two together were a lot of fun to read. It still feels very much like Snow's style - and it's still way, way too long - but this one's got a nice, fresh feel.

The story follows Sabrina, a recent graduate who just lost another job. She hasn't been able to keep one for more than a few months (through no fault of her own), and is having trouble breaking into the industry. When she encounters Magnus, she's already having a bad day, and he just makes it worse. The two clash immediately, but the moody businessman quickly realizes that someone who can handle him that well would make a great assistant. The only problem? The sparks that fly between them. Magnus has zero interest in being the guy who sleeps with his employee, so more sexual tension-related conflicts ensue.

Fans of the author have nothing to worry about - this still feels like one of Snow's books, even without the suspense. There's an age gap (23/31), Magnus is ex-military, he's growly, and the steamy scenes still have the same intensity. I loved the enemies to lovers vibe and think it worked well for the storyline. There's even some humor to keep things light, and really there isn't a ton of angst. This one's a slow burn that sometimes just feels slow; I've said it before and I'll say it again, Snow's books are just too long. There's nothing that I didn't like about the story, but there CAN be too much of a good thing, and this definitely dragged at times. But I liked it. I'd love to see more like this from the author, because she writes alpha heroes well, and I know that I can always depend on her to deliver a strong, loyal, intense hero.

I really liked the plot of the book. I love grumpy bosses and office relationships. However, parts of this story was a bit on the boring side that I had skipped ahead a few times.

This book was just “meh” for me. It was way too long, first of all. It was like an outlandish rom com movie and had a ton of OTT romantic gestures, including a skywriting grovel. I didn’t quite get the forbidden office romance as being such a big deal. I wasn’t convinced of the chemistry, because to me it seemed like they didn’t have much to build a relationship on.

The beginning was very promising, but my feelings for the MC’s fizzled. Magnus ran way too hot and cold. His lashing out at Brina came out of left field. He was a billionaire Marine corps veteran nearly a decade older than the h, but he was inexplicably emotionally immature.

The secondary characters were not bad. The bff annoyed me with her OTT interference at the end of the novel. I thought that Brina’s refusal to hear Magnus out at the end, considering the insane circumstances of his brother’s kidnapping, was quite immature and selfish! She was supposedly in love with the man. What he did wasn’t THAT BAD, after all. It was an epic grovel, but it didn’t have the angsty buildup I needed for it to be satisfying.

Biggest Complaint Brina obnoxiously referred to Magnus as “Maggot” when she was pissed at him. It was so gross. It really, really turned me off.

This book was fun at first, but at a certain point it really just drags on and on, and I was utterly and completely over it. In the end, I genuinely did not care and wanted to get it done with as soon as possible.
It’s quite a shame though, as the story and characters did have potential to be fun and cute. The author should have just quit while she was ahead and made this novel way shorter. Every little interest and investment I had at first just shattered after being dragged out for so long.
Besides, hardly anything happens that’s noteworthy and nothing gets really fleshed out properly. It’s all so flat and eventually just.. boring.

Let's keep this real quick and vague:
- I absolutely adored this book- the writing really worked for me.

- The characters were absolutely amazing: Magnus and Sabrina were just so great (it was so cute to see how much they cared for each other). I also loved how Sabrina wasn't afraid to speak her mind, and actually stood up for herself.

- The banter was so fun to read, I loved their back and forth, it worked so well and was thoroughly entertaining.

- The story flowed really nicely- there were some great scenes and development in the book.

- I LOVED the dual POV- it was so fun to read from both of their perspectives and gave really great insight into their relationship.

- At times the story was a bit repetitive- but I didn't mind too much because it was just really fun.

- I did find that towards the end, the conflict did sort of drag on, and felt slightly rushed in relation to some explanations, however, everything worked out well in the end.

Overall I genuinely had a great time reading this. It was a fun take on a commonly used trope, with some lovable characters, and some great, witty banter. The romance in the book had me swooning- the chemistry was off the charts. And for my first book by Nicole Snow, I have to say it went really well.

Good story, finally with strong female heroine, although i wish she’d be a bit more tough. I hate she’d caried too much for him, but finally she blocked him for a while.

The book started a bit slow, i was thinking of DNF, but i’m happy i gave it a chance. 4 stars!

The hero was too much grump and too much crank, unpleasant, cruel man. Is it so difficult being nice person?
Well, that’s why we have this plot “enemies to lover story”.

I didnt like he could think at all being in stressful situation o under presion. All his antics wouldnt be so cruel if he could act like normal person. All his fuck ups were him not thinking.

I didnt like heroine’s friend Paige- she look jealousy person for me.. Not good at all.

And heroine’s family—they were strange...

Safe read, not other persons’ scenes. Both not virgins, both celibate before meeting each other.

Total enemies-to-lovers thrill ride! Magnus Heron is one epic bosshole. You'll want to slug him in chapter one and wonder how the heck he's winning you halfway through. I loved the chemistry, the coffee disasters, the perfect splash of family drama, and so much sizzling banter between Mag and Brina. Her quirky superstitions and his wall of grumpiness rounded out this funny and hot five star read.

I confess to still being a little bit bewildered that in this age of the “Me Too” movement and the non-voluntary employer seminars I’ve attended on sexual harassment in the work place, that female contemporary romance authors are still churning out stories of female employees getting down with their hot bosses and female readers are still eating them up. Not that the authors don’t go to great lengths to show readers the relationship is completely consensual and the boss doesn’t need to twist her arm to get her bent over his desk. Then again this is not only the “Me Too” age but also the 21st Century where apparently young women like Sabrina Bristol and her BFF Paige are on the Pill so they can have casual sex hookups using aps like Tinder. So as long as the sex is totally consensual I guess in that context banging your boss is no bigger deal than banging somebody you arranged to meet via an app. Still having sex even with a willing employee is a lot like having an extra-marital affair with a willing partner. It’s still wrong. I’ll give Ms. Snow credit that in this story at least the boss Magnus Heron doesn’t aggressively pursue our heroine Sabrina Bristol right from the start to get her to have sex with him. His father was such an awful sexual predator that Magnus really tries to fight his attraction to Sabrina for a long time. Ultimately, he does it anyway. I mean come on, he knows he’s attracted to her yet he takes her on a romantic picnic in the desert at sunset, replete with a picnic basket and a bottle of wine. He invites himself into her apartment and practically mauls her. Hardly the actions of a man intent on keeping a professional distance between himself and his E.A. She certainly doesn’t resist his advances. Not the first time, nor the second nor the third even though he left her hot, wet and frustrated the first two times. In fact, one of my problems with this story is the way Sabrina is so willing, so ready to forgive and get naked with Magnus to the point of forgiving so easily some of horrid behavior towards her. Every time Magnus got frustrated in his personal life with his familial relationships he unfairly lashed out at Sabrina. It takes her far too long to finally refuse to accept such treatment. Another problem with this story is that Magnus really is an a-hole for much of it. From their first meeting when he tries to bully Sabrina off of a public park bench because he wants to use the spot in a photo-shoot instead of asking her nicely, he’s both arrogant and rude. Not just to his employees whom he seems to think keeping them in fear of losing their jobs is the way to motivate them, but even to food servers. He seems to see being polite as showing weakness. The word “please” isn’t in his vocabulary. While Magnus does often commit acts of generosity and kindness for the people closest to him, he is far too often an arrogant prick for my tastes. And he remains that way too arrogant, too proud to confess his love to Sabrina and beg her forgiveness until almost the very end.
I also found the idea that Sabrina works from 5 a.m. until after midnight five and six days a week and is still answering work texts and emails even when she’s not in the office impossible to believe. Nobody, not even a healthy 23-year-old like Sabrina could regularly work those hours without collapsing from exhaustion.
This isn’t a horrible book. Since I continued reading it till way past my bedtime and downloaded the “Flash Forward” to see what the future held for the characters I couldn’t have disliked it too much. My biggest problem was spending most of it not liking Magnus who continued to disappoint me with the way he treated everyone but especially Brina at almost every turn. Thankfully I’m far more interested in the female leads than the male leads. I am a guy after all. Even though she sometimes frustrated me, I really did like Brina. I loved her feistiness and refusal to cower to Magnus. Being a guy I could have done without all the details about the wedding clothes and decorations in the epilogue but it did have a nice happy ending. And if you download the free flash forward you get an even longer happy ending seeing the couple and their friends four years into the future. I’m going to give this one my 3 Star didn’t love it but I didn’t hate it rating.

Okay so..

This enemies to lovers hot office romance DELIVERS!

"This stranger and his sexy voodoo eyes are just the kind of trouble I don’t need today"

"I can’t resist tossing a look back over my shoulder. Only to find the jackass still watching me, something on his face I can’t quite read."

Their first meeting leaves an impression on the both of them. It was chaos all in the best way. Sabrina left hoping to never see his face again. Now one would really think Magnus would've ran to the opposite way. But he had a different plan because he was intrigued how when everyone cowered before him, that woman was zero to nothing intimidated by him. He was looking for a new executive assistant and there he found his match.

Sabrina gets an offer for an interview at HeronComm but thinks it's a joke because of how they originally shared their first meet. But acknowledging the bills piling up , she goes head first and snatches the job away. Which leaves her leaving the office with a big paycheck of a post and a boss that is impossible to keep up with.

“You need to understand his assistants don’t last long"

“I bet that’s not Miss Hunting’s fault. She says you’re a dick to work for.”

Magnus is known to feed on work. And demanded 101% of everyone at all times. And as usual he pushes Sabrina to her limits and makes a run for her salary AND as expected the fiery woman does everything as if it was her second nature.

"Damn, you’re mouthy,” he growls.

Both of them together are FIRE. Magnus tries to fight the tension and keep it professional while walking through his own personal battles. He does not want to cross a line and be a shadow of his father. He wants to escape all what he's sinned. But days go by and the lines get blurry.

"I just don’t have a way to check my head, my heart, and find out if I’m still all there, or completely hollowed out by this spitfire Venus I damn sure shouldn’t be fawning over."

He crosses all the lines and she ends up being the light in his life. But Magnus still had to work through his wars.

"You’ve given me some of the best days of my life, and the worst, too. But even the bad times taught me so much. I want our whatever. I want us.”

He fights to win his girl back and would fight off everything if it means he'd get her back in his life.

“I’m a believer in second chances.”

Sabrina was a firecracker start to finish. Never intimidated by him and held her ground strong and tall. Magnus was the grumpy , cocky billionaire CEO who needed an alarm that work was not everything he should be running behind
He did not only got the executive assistant he wanted but the love of his , he got a family of his own.
Worth every second of reading full of fun banter, sass , fiery exchanges and love.

"So maybe I’m far more than his assistant now, but let’s be real.
Magnus Heron will always be the boss of me."

❤️❤️❤️

Sabrina meets Magnus Heron at a park in Chicago on Friday the 13th, the same day she got fired after a morning of bad luck. So it’s safe to say Sabrina wasn’t in the mood for Magnus’ brooding and commanding presence. The two got off on the wrong foot and their meeting ending in Sabrina spitting on Magnus’ shoes. Yet for some reason, Magnus was intrigued by the sexy spitfire and offered Sabrina a job as his Executive Assistant, a job that no person seems to be able to hold down.

Although Magnus is wildly attracted to Sabrina, he has a strict no-fraternization policy at his company—for good reason, too. But the more time he spends with Sabrina, the less resolve Magnus seems to have...

Office Grump by Nicole Snow is an enemies-to-lovers boss/assistant romance. This had a hilarious start and I was really into the setup. Somewhere near the halfway mark, the romance/story started to lose steam for me. It’s full of drama, which is fine, but for nearly a 500-page romance, it was just too much. The story dragged and it seemed to veer off from what I originally thought I was getting from this one. I’m still interested in Sabrina’s roommate, Paige’s romance, but this didn’t knock my socks off. 3/5 stars.

Fun enemies to lovers rom-com and just the fluff (with some added angst) that I needed right now.

One of my favorites from this author. As usual, great bantering, chemistry, and a fantastic story. There were a few elements to the story that I wish had been fleshed out (mainly the Jordan situation on all sides) but other than that I loved this grumpy boss romance. I hope that the author continues this series with some of the secondary characters.

Very long and drawn out

Sabrina Bristol is having the worst day of her life. She woke up late, spilled coffee all over her outfit, broke a heel, arrived late to work and got fired. While trying to savor the last cup of coffee that she can afford for a while on a park bench she gets harassed by a hot guy and ends up spilling her yummy latte all over his feet. She gets hired by said hot guy and falls in love with him and they live happily ever after.

This book is nearly five hundred pages. The fact that I could sum up the story line in four sentences but the author took almost half of a thousand pages is ridiculous. The characters were off putting. Magnus Heron was a jerk of the worst kind. I love enemies to lovers book but when the main guy isn’t even worth redemption what’s the point of the story? Sabrina just kept taking the bad behavior. She put up with it and kept getting burned.

I would not recommend. I will not read another book by this author. She is permanently removed from my KU library.

Borrowed this from KU...

I'm really over billionaires as a whole. I'm really over men who don't give, or grow, or learn, or change, and that's the hero of this book.

What a roller-coaster of a story!

Right from their hate-you-with-the-fire-of-a-thousand-suns meeting to their lose-my-number breakup, these two are like oil and water, clashing over everything both on the job and off. I loved how quickly this author can develop her characters. Brina was instantly relatable, someone I wanted as a best friend right from her first scene. Magnus, true to titular form, is a grade-A, insufferable monster every step of the way, and I loved the way Brina stood up to him. He doesn't change just because he realizes the error of his ways; instead, his softening is only in private moments and is never entirely complete, but we grow to love him despite his grumpalicious default manner.

The complications for their romance go well beyond the personality conflict, but this takes a while to tease out of the narrative. Once all the details are revealed an appear to have been mitigated, the entire bottom falls out in one horrifying incident that tests the strength of their own characters as well as their commitment to each other. Rest assured there is a solid, epilogue-confirmed HEA, but be prepared to throw a bit of a frustrated tantrum along the way.

"She gave me faith. She gave me fire. Then she reached down inside me and gave me back that crumpled rose in my rib cage I thought would never bloom again." -- Magnus

This author is a gifted wordsmith, and her talent really shines bright in this book. It's a little less focused on inner-monologue angst in favor of interpersonal scenes that really drive the story. The depth of emotion showed by these characters is rarely found in contemporary romances, and I absolutely loved every last bit of it. It's one of the author's best, and you don't want to miss it. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.

In this book we meet Sabrina Bristol and Magnus Heron. Sabrina just knows this Friday the 13th is going to kill her. Little did she know how true that thought would be. See the day starts out with her late to work, then her boss tells her the company is making budget cuts and since she is low man on the totem pole it is her that is being let go. Then she gets a drink and something for breakfast since she can take her time and decides to go to the park and sit on one of their public benches to just soak it all in. She thinks it can't be worse then this right oh wait there is more some rude guy keeps trying to get her to move so that they can get their photo shoot done. If he had only asked politely she would have possibly done it instead he was a jerk and she told him so. Magnus has never had anyone talk back to him or stand up to him like Sabrina does. He makes the decision that he wants to get to know her better and hires her as his assistant. No one can believe he is doing this without looking at her credentials first, but he has made up his mind. When she first helps him during a meeting he can't believe how forward she is and tries to reprimand her. The thing is she is good and he knows it. When he screws up one to many times and she leaves he knows he has to do anything not to get her back as his assistant but as the woman who was meant to be with him. Will these two find a HEA or will their personalities make that impossible?

This is another hit out the park by this author. It does have its ups and downs I really want to tell you about. However I don't want to ruin the story for any other readers. I will say this book will have you hooked from the first word to the very end. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.
