Wedding Cake Carnage

A baker who sees the dead. One too many suitors.
And a killer. Living in Honey Hollow can be murder.
*A laugh out loud standalone cozy mystery by New York Times Bestseller Addison Moore* All books in the series can be read individually but are best enjoyed in order.

My name is Lottie Lemon and I see dead people. Okay, so I rarely see dead people, mostly I see furry creatures of the dearly departed variety, aka dead pets, who have come back from the other side to warn me of their previous owners impending doom.

Someone very close to me is missing—and it’s been a nightmare ever since they've disappeared. To top it all off, I stumbled upon a body at the Bridal Expo. My sister’s wedding is just weeks away, and I volunteered to take over a to-do list at least a mile long. Add an ornery talking tiger, an unruly child poltergeist, a firework spectacular and you’ll have the most explosive July Honey Hollow has ever seen.

Lottie Lemon has a brand new bakery to tend to, a budding romance with perhaps one too many suitors, and she has the supernatural ability to see dead pets—which are always harbingers for ominous things to come. Throw in the occasional ghost of the human variety, a string of murders, and her insatiable thirst for justice, and you’ll have more chaos than you know what to do with.

Living in the small town of Honey Hollow can be murder.

Wedding Cake Carnage by Addison Moore is the 11th book in the Murder in the Mix series. This series is about Lottie Lemon. A baker with the abillity to see dead pets and when she sees them awful things are about to happen. I really like this series! As always Addison Moore's writing is amazing.

Oh my goodness, this series just keeps getting better and better. Lottie and her guys never seize to amazing. The mystery, the murder and of course her desserts. This had it all, I just love coming back to Honey Hollow and see where Lottie sleuthing skills will take her and company. I can’t wait to return and see what happens next.

Okay, so I've made it to book #14 in this series, and I feel like I need to post a review for all the books I've read up to this point. These books rea all set pretty close together, so it's almost like you're reading one big, long story or watching a TV drama or soap opera. There are some really fun, interesting things in these books, and some other things that are problematic.

Things that I like:

The setting - Honey Hollow is one of those adorable little towns that exist almost exclusively in rom-com books or cozy TV shows. Think Stars Hollow, but in Vermont. It's the kind of town that has absolutely no major corporations in the downtown area. No McDonald's, no Walmart's, nothing. Everything is family owned. Every business decorates for whatever event/holiday/season is coming up or going on and everyone in town is always at every event. I'm here for that. If I could find this kind of town in RL, I would be in heaven. I'm sure that some place, somewhere, is like this, and I haven't found it yet, so that's why I'm saying it's almost exclusively in books or shows. But I do really love this little town.

Most of the side characters - I love Keelie and Meg the most of the side characters, but Lainey, Brittany, and even Cormack are fun and have enough quirks to keep them interesting. I'm not saying they are perfect, but they are a lot of fun and I want a friend group just like them.

The premise - I'm not going to do spoilers for any of the books, but this isn't really a spoiler, since it is literally the first paragraph in every book. Lottie's power is really cool and something different from the normal cozy mystery realm. She sees ghosts of pets and people who are there to help her solve a murder of someone they are close to. Love this idea. It's really what sets this series apart from the other cozy mystery type stories. The fact that her powers do grow and shift, and her reaction to them, is something that seems like normal reactions.

Everett - I really like Everett. He's understanding, has his own demons, is a calming force on Lottie, and really cares about her. He tells her things that he's hidden from others in the past, which just shows how much he cares for her. And he's willing to give her time to figure things out on her own. He also supports her in everything, but mostly in her investigations. He knows she's going to do whatever it is she's going to do, so he tags along to make sure she's as safe as she can be in the situation. He doesn't try to fit her in a box of his own expectations, but lets her be her own person, which is very refreshing.

Things I'm on the fence about:

Lottie - Yes, the FMC herself. First of all, I do like Lottie. She has a lot of good points, and she genuinely cares about people and is fiercely loyal to her friends and family. She is stubborn and keeps going, no matter what obstacles are in her way. I like that part of her. However, the other part of her is a complete mess. The woman cannot make up her mind about her love life and frankly, it's pretty darn annoying. I get that it's easy to be attracted to two different men at once, but if she actually sat down and looked at how each of them treats her, she would be able to make her choice. That part of her makes her seem kind of airheaded and jealous all the time. I really don't like that treatment of her, even though those are normal emotions and behaviors, and she is relatable. But given how focused she is in her business and the other parts of her life, it's almost like the author is afraid to make a choice for Lottie and make someone mad. Which just leaves everything in a long, drawn-out romantic triangle that no one really asked for.

Things I really don't like -

Both of Lottie's mothers - Look, the backstory of Lottie's birth mom having been a teenage who got pregnant and left her to be adopted by her "parents" is good. Love the back story and the support Lottie gets from her adoptive family is great. But both of her moms act like they are mean girls in high school and the only thing they have to do is fight each other over who has which guy as a boyfriend now. After hearing about how much Miranda loved her deceased husband and spent 10 years not dating, to have her having a revolving door of dates now seems a bit of an overkill. I do think that people can and should have meaningful relationships after their SO's pass on, but her relationships seem so superficial and juvenile. Carlotta, on the other hand, has every reason to distrust men (that we know of. We don't get a whole lot of background on where she was and what happened for the 29 years she was gone), but she just jumps back into competing with Miranda for every man in her life. It's very 1980's soap opera-ish. And really, it's somewhat distracting to the main stories.

The constant repetition - There are certain words/phrases/paragraphs that seem as if they are just lifted from one book and dropped right into the next. Do we really need the first paragraph (which is also the blurb for every single book) about Lottie and her ability to see the dead? Couldn't the author think of a different way to work it in somewhere in the first chapter or so? Why don't we get any background as to why Lottie's powers are suddenly escalating? But nope, just the same "I'm Lottie Lemon and I see dead pets." every single story. Also, why does everyone refer to Lottie almost exclusively as Lottie Lemon? It's not like Lainey comes in and someone always says, "Lainey Lemon!" I'm sure there are multiple ways to keep putting her last name in there, if that's what the author is really wanting to do. And the shoulder shimmy and hip bump. It's like those phrases are used 40-50 times per book. The books are not that long at all. There is no reason for someone's shoulders to do a shimmy every other chapter or so.

Noah - I know this will probably cause some hurt feelings, but Noah is not a likeable character. He is controlling and stalkerish. His and Lottie's meet cute was cute. I enjoyed that. But then, Noah got problematic. I enjoyed the beginning of his relationship with Lottie. He was her pick, and Everett was there in the background, but I was fine with Noah. UNTIL Brittany showed up. Do you mean to tell me in SIX MONTHS Noah couldn't find one second to have a serious conversation with the woman he said he was falling in love with to tell her that his divorce was not finalized yet? Oh, his bad. He "forgot" to tell her. Just like he "forgot" to tell her that he put a tracker on her car. Is that even legal? Oh, and cameras pointing at her front door? Really? Hello, stalker. And when Lottie, who did not want to be the other woman, tells him that yes, she has feelings for him, but she is done with him because of his wife, he refuses to accept that. Instead of figuring out his relationship with Brittany (and Cormack -but that's next), he continuously busts in on Lottie and Everett. That really bothered me. Lottie set boundaries and eventually, when things had settled down, she and Noah could have been really good friends, but he refuses to accept the boundaries. He constantly interrupts Lottie and Everett, breaking in whenever they are alone and making snide comments about Everett. You know who doesn't do that later? Everett. When he tells Lottie to figure out who she wants to be with, he even says no to getting physical with Lottie so she can decide for herself between Noah and Everett. But Noah? Nope, Lottie is his toy and he can't stand other people touching his toys. And then, he "accidentally" gets engaged to Cormack and "can't find a way" to tell her that they are actually not engaged. He takes her on dates. Takes her to dinner. Takes her to relationship counseling. Let's Cormack throw them an engagement party. And through all of this, he keeps telling Lottie that "he just can't figure out how to get Cormack to understand." Idk, dude. Maybe stop taking her on dates? Slap her with a restraining order? You're a detective. Figure it out. OH, and that brings me the worst part of Noah (if you can believe that). He doesn't want a relationship with Lottie. He wants to own her and to put her in a box or on a shelf. The whole first part of their relationship is him telling Lottie to stay out of everything and be a good girl and get back in the kitchen. Look, I get she's a baker and he's trying to keep her safe. But there is ALWAYS a point in the books that he realizes she's far ahead of him in the investigation and all of a sudden, it's fine for her to be involved. As long as she follows his rules and does exactly what he says.

So, I read through the first 13 pretty quickly and have started 14. But I think I'm going to take a break, because the things I am annoyed with are slowly starting to outweigh the things that I like about this book series. Hopefully, when I go back and pick it up again, I'll be able to enjoy the stories once again.

There is so many things I could say about this series, but I feel like no matter what I’ve pretty much said everything that could be said to describe how amazing this series is. Addison Moore just keeps throwing us these amazing books and you can’t help but love the story being told. Lottie is such a great character, but you can’t help feel for her with each book, she’s bright, charming, smart and such an incredible baker, but it’s like she can never catch a break she deserves. Addison did such a great job when it came to outlining Lottie’s life, there’s always something going on, which is a great thing because you don’t end up getting bored with the story, Addison makes it so exciting to keep on reading. My heart does break for Lottie though, because she deserves to have her love life not complicated at all, but when you love two people it’s never that simple. Although, I would give anything to see both Lottie, Noah and Essex together as honestly, they all seem to be perfect together. I can’t wait to see how Addison does with the next one, I’m hoping it’s as exciting and amazing as all the others.

Lottie is stressed as hell after learning that Essex has disappeared and with it being days later and he still hasn’t been found, isn’t exactly sitting well with either her or Noah. But whilst that’s the main thing that’s got her mind going crazy, she’s also got her sister’s wedding to worry about. Bearing in mind, she’s worried like crazy because her sister has already warned her if she ends up being in the middle of another police investigation after discovering another dead body, then her invite to the wedding is completely taken from her. So as you can imagine, she’s stressed like crazy, but she’s determined to not let either Essex or her sister down. However, as fate would have it, another body shows up and everything gets thrown into chaos. Will Lottie be able to crack the case and will she be able to figure out where Essex is or will she be too late for both?

Lottie Lemon a supernaturally-gifted Baker is also a detective and she is determined as ever for her dear sister Lainey’s wedding to go smoothly without bodies coming into the equation. Fate has other plans. A poor soul is murdered and it’s up to Honey Hollow’s PD’s premier detective Noah Fox, the good judge Everett, and the quirky, Lottie Lemon with a mind of her own to bring this sweet soul to justice. Honey Hollow always has carnage now. This should be a piece of cake, right? With Lottie’s busy life whipping her around can she still stick to her guns and crack this homicide case wide open? Addison Moore has an amazing dynamic with these characters, with fresh plot lines and ideas popping up in every book. They can be read as standalones or in order of the series. Either way, it’s a tasty treat for any reader looking for a cozy mystery!

Addison Moore is an amazing writer and I just love this series. Each and every book is meant to be a stand-alone but I must say that you should read them all as they are so awesome that once you read one you will want to read them all.

In this one, Lottie and Noha who is her ex and a Sheriff are on the hunt for her boyfriend and his ex Step Brother Everette who had been kidnapped. Let us add on top of this the fact that Lottie is running her bakery full time, trying to make sure that her sister's wedding goes off without a hitch. In this book, Lottie had the help of a tiger and a little spirit along with Noha to help her do whatever was needed to find Everette and bring the killer to justice.

As Jam-Packed (and Stressful) as a Wedding Expo

In Wedding Cake Carnage, Murder in the Mix book 11, Addison Moore serves up the kind of murder, mayhem, and mental instability seen only in mobbed events like the wedding expo baker Lottie Lemon has been convinced to attend by her engaged sister Lainey and the wedding planner, Jana March. Lottie plans to hand out samples to increase business for her specialty cakes. The star flavor: Lainey and Forest's choice, pink champagne.
The ghost pet is a white tiger, an exotic animal outlawed in the US due to its endangered status, named Beasty. He belonged to the victim's father, who ran an "illegal exotics" operation, and the victim bonded with him quickly before the ring was busted.
The victim? Jana March, found in the woods behind the expo site. Lainey panics because without Jana her wedding will be RUINED, and Lottie volunteers to complete the unfinished tasks...all 56 of them.
Besides Jana's murder, Lottie needs to find Everett, who's missing, and bring his kidnapper to justice. Beasty can't help outside Lottie's vicinity, but he goes with her to the B&B and meets annoying 6-year-old ghost Lea, who wants Lottie to make a deal with her: she delivers Everett, and Lottie gives her the B&B to haunt rather than "boring" Greer and Winslow, the 200-year-old ghost Greer found in the woods and installed in the B&B.
Everett's kidnapping investigation is easily begun; Lottie and Noah know it's a woman because she's threatened Lottie by leaving black roses on her porch, sending her nasty notes, and even calling her at the bakery and telling her to "die"! In honor of Everett they order his favorite meal, and the owner says they often deliver the same order to a nearby town. They travel there, Beasty along for assistance, and when Beasty sees Everett cuffed to an iron bedframe he invites Lottie and Noah inside. Noah shoots him free, then carries him on his back to the car and leaves before the kidnapper returns.
Online research determines the owner of the cabin is a Mr. James. Years ago, Harlow James told Everett she was carrying his baby, then slid on black ice and drove into a river, killing them both. Everett still mourns the loss of the baby; he'd already gotten excited about being a father. It's suspicious, but they have a murder to solve. Noah thinks both Everett and Lottie are in danger and says they'll all stay at his place. The 3 humans, 2 cats (Lottie's), and 1 dog (Noah's) end up getting along chastely--neither man wants to make things awkward by fighting over Lottie, and she feels the same. Nothing suspicious happens, but when Everett's windshield gets destroyed, they decide to keep their "Three's Company" living arrangement until the kidnapper/stalker is caught.
Meanwhile, Lottie has avoided Jana's overwhelming "wedding Bible". Then her mother informs her that the venue confirmation deadline passed and since the church secretary couldn't reach the wedding planner (no surprise) she thought Lainey and Forest changed their minds and scheduled a funeral for the same time. Scrambling, Lottie arranges a new venue: an outdoor gazebo Lainey secretly wanted all along!
Greer and Winslow have decided they want a family, and they think Lea is the ghost child for them. But Lea doesn't like their gentle haunting style (moving chairs, shaking chandeliers) and prefers to scream loudly and trip guests, scaring rather than amusing them. Result: a drop in bookings for Mom's Haunted B&B tours with bonus Last Thing They Ate stop at Lottie's Cutie Pie Bakery and Cakery. Lottie doesn't care--she's tired of her sweet treats being linked to murder, and every homicide victim so far has had one of her creations in their hand or mouth--but Mom is devastated, so Lottie tells Lea to haunt somewhere else. Lea throws a tantrum, but Carlotta lays down the law: Lea had to return Everett safely for the agreement to hold, and the return was facilitated by Beasty and completed by Noah and Lottie, so Lea has no cause to complain.
At the wedding, Lottie sees her dead father kiss his widow and his 3 daughters; afterward she's lured to her car and nearly dragged into the woods by Jana's "best friend" and fiancé, who'd conspired to kill Jana. Lottie shoots and injures the fiancé, and while the police talk to the "best friend" and the EMTs load the fiancé into an ambulance, Lottie sees Noah and Everett restraining a woman. It's Hailey--really Harlow, who lied about the baby but wants Everett back. Lottie was in more danger than they thought! Jackie and Pierre go to jail; Harlow goes to a psych ward. Britney Fox tells Lottie counseling didn't work--Noah had no desire to change into the man she knows he can be--so she'll sign the divorce papers. Everett tells her he and Noah have decided she can explore her feelings for Noah since she never got closure...so she's as confused as ever!
This book introduced so many new characters and plot twists I was dizzy. No wonder I avoid anything at the State Fairgrounds! Liked a lot, didn't love, but I'm addicted!

This was on me, but I don’t think jumping into this series was a wise thing to do. There were just so many things that were confusing and hard to keep track of like the many cast of characters, the complicated family dynamics, and the ongoing storyline with Everett. So, it took me a bit to get into because of that.

However once the mystery got going, it was good. It was a nice pace to it. Plenty of clues and suspects along the way. It was an adventure to go on with Lottie as she it the pieces together and found the truth.

I liked all the ghosts both human and animal as they set out to help Lottie solve the mysteries. There were a huge help. I liked how that dynamic play out. It was really fun. It was a great angle to add to an interesting mystery.

For me personally, I didn’t care for the love triangle between Lottie, Everett, and Noah. I’m not fan of love triangles and general, but this one just really made me squirm a little bit because she had feelings for Noah yet she was with Everett and sleeping with him at the same time. That just didn’t sit right with me, especially what was happened at the end. It was just weird. Yes there was history in the previous books that I haven’t read that lead up to this moment, but at the same time, it just didn’t feel right.

Another fantastic installment in the Murder in the Mix series that you won't be able to put down. Controlled chaos at its best, Wedding Cake Carnage is the 11th book in this supernatural best seller where town baker/amateur sleuth, Lottie Lemon, stumbles across a body thanks to a ghostly tip-off and must scramble like mad to find the killer before they get away with murder. With the added drama of her recently-gone-missing boyfriend by obviously nefarious means, a spectral wild animal determined to stay on earth despite the divine rules which prevent that and her sister's impending wedding merely days away, this book sure isn't short on crazy hijinx and hilarity. It's impossible not to fall in love with the characters from Honey Hollow and live and breathe their lives right along with them as you read. With a sassy heroine and TWO sexy heroes at her side, Lottie has quickly become one of my fave characters of all time and this series has topped my list of faves too.

I received an advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Every time! Addison Moore is my hero. I really don't know how she whips up these books in no time flat! Each and every time, I am completely sucked in and fall in love with the characters.
The Murder in the Mix series has become a favorite of mine! I absolutely love Lottie, Essex, and Noah. Of course another murder happens and Lottie is right in the middle of it. Lottie and Essex are quite the team but I love how Noah never gives up and keeps fighting for Lottie. He fights for her heart and to keep her out of jail!
I am still hoping and holding out for Lottie to be with both Essex and Noah! Sorry ... Not Sorry, but I cant decide between the two and Lottie loves them both. I am really interested to find out what happens when Noah's divorce is actually finalized. Things are going to go down! In the mean time, I am here along for this roller coaster of a ride.

Lottie Lemon finds herself tasked with finding another killer, on top of trying to find one of her loves. She is not coping well and feels like she needs help for anyone and anything. After stumbling upon yet another body, Lottie will need to use her skills to find the murderer. Noah steps up to help her and it was interesting to see her trying to reconcile her feelings for him and Everett. She really was a mess throughout this book. Not everything was at it seemed in this book and Lottie had to figure out what was real and what was fiction. I am interested to see where this goes now. It had an interesting twist at the end that, hopefully, will give some closure to her love triangle.

Wedding Cake Carnage (Murder in the Mix #11) — Addison Moore (21 chapters) October 15-17, 2021

In a subplot that began in the last book and continues in this one, the black heart notes come to a head when Everest goes missing. Lottie tries to use the animal spirit and a little girl spirit to find him, promising an act that she might not be able to act on. However, finding Everest does not solve the issue, and instead causes more problems.

the main plot concerns Lainey’s wedding planner, and the big critter that comes back to help. This plot is a little more twisty than the others and there were some real LOL moments in the book.

The book ends with a resolution for Noah’s marriage, which looks to compound issues related to Lottie’s heart.

Three stars.

Wedding Cake Carnage is a laugh out loud stand alone Cozy Mystery. I swear though go back to book one and you will fall in love with the series. Between Looking for Everett and running the bakery the last thing Lottie needed was to find a body. With the help of Noah, a tiger, and a child spirit Lottie is determined to find Everett, catch a killer, and make sure her sisters wedding is perfect.
If you love cozy mysteries with romance, action, and a paranormal twits you have found your series! Just a fair warning though one isn’t enough you will find your self flying through them for just one more taste!

Holy smokes! This book has taken so many turns, it has left my head spinning!! If you read Macron Massacre you know it left us with Everett missing. Lottie and Noah have teamed up and vowed to find him. As if Lottie didn't have enough on her plate trying to find him, she also stumbles upon poor Jana Marsh's dead body at the bridal expo. Not only does Lottie need to find Everett and bring his abductor to justice, she has to find another cold blooded killer too! This book was absolutely wonderful and there is a huge twist in Lottie's love life at the end. It will make things very interesting. I can hardly wait for the next book!

Fantastic read, well written with a great plot and characters. I was engrossed from start to finish. This can be read as a stand alone but I enjoyed reading them in order. This book has mystery, action, romance, comedy and twists. In Honey Hallow Lottie Lemon has her hands full. On top of running her bakery, she is trying to find Everett, find a killer and make sure her sisters wedding is perfect. She doesn't have to do it alone though....she has Noah, the spirit of a tiger, and a child spirit. I love this series and can't wait to read the next book. Lottie has her hands full in this one! She’s gotta find out what happened to her boyfriend, who took him and where they took him too. And then bam, another murder to solve! This time a tiger comes from the other side to help guide her in this murder mystery.

I just love this whole series and this book did not disappoint! Lottie and all the characters of Honey Hollow come alive under Addison’s writing and it’s such a fun escape from reality!

With Everrett still missing, Lotties heart just isn't in it these days. As if that wasn't enough, her sister's wedding planner is murdered at the big bridal expo. So on top of finding Everrett and solving the murder, Lottie now has to help finish the plans for her sister's wedding. Noah pitches in and helps find Everrett, but his crazy stalker is still out there. And now Noah's wife has announced she has agreed to the divorce. This is the day Lottie has dreaded. Now she must choose. Noah or Everrett? Can't wait to see who Lottie ends up with!

This series has drawn me in from the beginning. With each new book I read I get more enmeshed with the characters and the storyline unfolding in Honey Hollow. With the love triangle of Lottie, Everett, and Noah, and a murder around every bend, it is so hard to put these books down! Addison has done an amazing job describing her characters and the storyline, that you can "visualize" what they look like. It's hard finishing these books because you just want to pick up the next one and carry on with the tales of Lottie Lemon! Until the next one....

The mystery kept me guessing all the way up to the eleventh hour, and it was a twisty-er plot than I’m used to seeing Lottie have to tackle. She’s also facing a serious time crunch doing it while trying to find and bring Everett home and get everything ready for her sister’s wedding before it’s all too late. The spectres are up to their mischievous best trying to help her along with her friends and family. Take note that you may want to grab the tissues before you reach the end because, for a mostly light-hearted book, there’s at least one tear-jerker moment in here.

suspenseful

Addison writes another great storyline. Lottie has a lot going on in her life right now. Everette is missing and she is going out of her mind searching for him. She has a murder on her hands and her oldest sisters wedding is weeks away. She finds out who her bio-father is, that she has other siblings as well.

Then there is the little poltergeist child that has shown up at the B&B. Greer and Winslow want to adopt. But she has plans of her own. Stop by Honey Hollow and find out if Lainey’s wedding goes off with out a hitch.

Again love the stories love the new characters ghostly and human. I am getting really annoyed with the main characters constant splitting her attention with two men!! What man would put up with that? Let alone two men with so much to offer? Seriously no woman is worth that much attention I don’t care how pretty or smart or sexy or her penchant for murders get real!! If this doesn’t situation doesn’t come to an end soon I might not keep reading this series! It’s that annoying to me!! Pick a man for heaven’s sake and stick to him!! Oh but she loves both men!! That isn’t love that’s lust!!

What a series!

I always love every book in this series and then, I’m anxiously waiting for the next one. Lottie is such a fantastic character. The writing is super, it is never boring and I love every word. The romance, the decision of which guy that Lottie can’t make, is a huge part of the series but I’m more than ready to see who she finally picks. I love love love this series!

I have loved every single book in this series, and this is no different! Another page turner! Now with two mysteries to solve, a bakery to run, and, making sure her sister's wedding goes without a hitch, will Lottie be able to handle everything? This will keep you at the edge of your seat! She now learns what her Grandma Nell has been hinting on the last book. With a help of a Tiger, would she be able to solve this one?

Although this is a stand alone, I highly recomment this series!

Disappointing

Lottie has a bridezilla, a kidnapping and a murder to navigate, so increasing magical mayhem us inconvenient, to say the least. The kidnapper is no surprise; 2/3 of the murder is also unsurprising. The female characters are pretty much weak, man-hungry ninnies; the males are horny, not particularly bright, and/or lacking in character. The biggest surprise is the foolishness in the end!

Addison knocks it out of the park with two mysteries wrapped in one delicious visit to Honey Hollow. Lottie is Wonder Woman in this book with her running the bakery, solving two mysteries and aiding in a wedding so there is truly never a dull moment within the covers! Honestly could not put this book down and fell asleep while reading it from needing sleep, that’s how good it is!

OMG, I just love this series. I can't even truly express how much. The characters, the town, the story plots are just so fantastic and together the create this fun, amazing adventure that I want to relive again and again. I'm hoping the author is going to write more, because I need more of the amateur sleuth.

Okay, I really liked the storyline and I enjoy the characters a lot. Hence 4 stars from me.
But the grammar nazi in me has to comment:
1. You "pour" liquid, you"pore" over a book!!
2. Storyline continuity!! When Lottie first found out Carlotta was her mother, Carlotta was Nell's little sister, and Lottie referred to Nell as her aunt. Now suddenly Nell is Carlotta's mother and Lottie's grandmother!?? What the heck. This should be edited in earlier books, seriously. 😡

I don't like love triangles. I'm 11 books into this series and instead of making a choice it seems to be getting ready to swing back to the first guy. I like Lottie less with each book. Noah is starting to feel a little like a stalker. I don't fully blame him because of the mixed signals from Lottie. The mystery portion of the books are good but I'm taking a break for now.
