After a glimpse at a world she’s not supposed to know exists, Elba manages to convince the mysterious men not to carry out their threat to erase her memory.

As Elba is drawn deeper into their world, her normal life comes under threat when she discovers that just knowing about magic puts a target on your back. Perhaps she should have let them erase her memory after all. But can she forget the two gorgeous men who have changed her life forever?

Things are getting dangerous; and that’s just her feelings.

This is one of my favourite adult fantasy reads of 2020.

The heat, sexanter (that's sexy banter) and drama this book has!

Hand me thine fanning device...

The storyline is quirky and well thought out but let's get to the good stuff... Le men of le magic! (disclaimer: I do not speak french)...

Hemmingway aka 'Executive Viking'

He wins the award for having the best one liners, all the while being sexy AF.

Kipling aka 'I want to wrap my hands in your glorious curls and pull'

He wins the award for being the most moody and mysterious of them all... all the while being sexy AF.

Elba, our lucky heroine, is a normal woman who finds herself in a dead end job after a horrendous breakup and then one brave (and foolish, obvi) split second decision changes her life beyond recognition! Sex life upgrade for the win!

I recommend this book to anyone who likes steamy scenes and witty banter in a magical realism setting.

What will you do if you knew magic exists?? Well, I don’t know, I might be freaking out that how, when, where, and who??
This happened with Elba too, she’s such a charismatic character, beauty with brains. She’s dealing with heartbreak and came across two hot magic-wielding men just by coincidence and couldn’t stop thinking about them. Both the magic-wielding men are beyond handsome and I love their short name’s: Kip & Hem.

The story has a beautiful edge and its arc is perfect for my taste. I loved how things develop, secrets are revealed, actions happen, and dealing with life and death. The development of their friendship and relationship is to be cherished. Steamy scenes are just yummy. You’ll get an intense story with a lot of hotness. Addison is writing Queen, I love her writing so much. A mystery is left to get solved in the next books of the series.

A good start to what promises to be a hot, magical series... I hope!

This was recommended to read by a friend. I was doubtful I have to admit, but I went in without reading the blurb, which I'm glad I did! It made the story a bit better in my eyes.

This very much feels like a set-up book. Setting the scene for what could potentially be a long and interesting series about magic users. I've not really read a series in a while that has kept my attention that has good and bad magic users, good storyline, good characters so I'm hoping I'm right on that.

Elba is our FMC and stumbles across our two MMC Kipling "Kip" and Hempingway "Hem" seemingly chasing someone down an alley. She follows, unable to resist not offering help but sees crazy things happening. One has dark smoke wrapping round him and vanishes, and the other has pale flames around his arms. What on earth had she run into??

Needless to say, normally, on these occasions minds are wiped by the magic users but Kip couldn't bring himself to do it. The next night both men are at the same bar Elba is watching intently and wanting a word....

A couple of great steamy scenes. Hem seems to be the more flirtatious and outgoing, whereas Kip is the dark and brooding.

The "baddies" in this are called "freedoms" and its kinda cool that the author uses 2 strong women not afraid to seriously use their power and stand up for what they believe in. So much so, they leave Kip and Hem with a few words of wisdom about the bureau they work for is keeping from them.....

One turns out to be true.... How many others are they keeping from them?

Although there wasn't really a cliffhanger, it's left ajar with potential. I've knocked a star off incase that potential isn't taken as it would be a shame to see it wasted!!!

This book you guys.... soooooooo steamy and such a quick, fun read. I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting an entertaining story along with the smutty, smut, smut but I was totally drawn into this Paranormal Romance world. Like... was this adult Harry Potter? Did we actually just go to the Ministry of Magic? I don't even know, but I was so entertained. Arrowdell weaved some true magic into this gem and I need more people to read it. PS. I call dibs on Hem...

Okay. I need a straight on harem for my book boyfriends... If you read Smoke and Flame, you might find yourself needing one too.
Hemingway and Kipling are sexy magical detectives who sweep an unwitting young woman, Elba, into their world of magic and underground power battles.
Laugh out loud funny and blush inducingly smutty, this book had me head over heels!

A steamy, wild debut so hot it burns!

This book captured me from the first page, and I devoured the entire thing in one sitting. Elba is your average “normal” human who meets magic wielding detectives Hemingway and Kipling. Thrust into a new reality, she finds herself involved in a case of rogue magics while trying to navigate the sexy tension building between her and the detectives. Elba’s personality shines off the page. The chemistry between her and witty Hem and sweet Kip (We are on a nickname basis) flowed absolutely perfectly. *chefs kiss*

The men. They are as different as black and white, as the moon and the sun, and so incredibly HOT. The pacing, the plot, and the banter were just soooo good. Even during the periods of uncertainty, fear, and tension, you could just feel the angst off the page. There were so many hilarious one-liners, I laughed through the whole thing. The author's writing is incredible. I've never read third person done so well. And those spicy moments. OH-EM-GEEE. Enough to make you squirm and blush.

Overall, WOW. Just WOW. I laughed, cheered, raged, and cried. Very impressed. All hail Addison, the queen of broody, strapping men and hot-as-f smut! Bloody perfect. Now, gimme book 2. ASAP!

As the author, this isn't a review but a bit of an intro. I wrote the Men of Magic series because I wanted to combine all my favourite elements of a story:

* Sexy characters
* Hot smutty action
* Witty banter
* Rom-com elements
* Romance
* A touch of magic

If this is what you want in a book, then this series is for you!

Elba is thrust into a world of magic (and very hot men) when she accidentally stumbles upon a scene where magic is being used on mere mortals! She meets Hemingway and Kipling and a steamy adventure ensues!

3.5/5 stars
I liked this book which about a girl who discovers a world of magic and is threatened by these two men who will erase her memory only for her to fall in love with them. This was a very short book and I finished it in one sitting. I wasn't instantly hooked into the story from the beginning and have to say that I was a bit confused with what was going on as the pacing was very fast. Near the middle, I was hooked with the story and was enjoyed it. I enjoyed the world of magic in this book and the story line was pretty good. I do have to say that this book had great potentials if the story was longer and stretched out so it was easier to understand.

The main character in this book is Elba who is the human that meets these two guys and discovers magic. There wasn't much development but I enjoyed her story and her adventure. The two guys in this book are Hem and Kip who are both mysterious but sexy. I enjoyed learning about them and seeing their connection with Elba. Their bantering and jokes between them were really cute. There were other side characters but not many. The romance is a mmf paranormal romance which is very steamy.

The ending was well done and not so dramatic. This book was enjoyable but could have been so much better if the storyline was more stretched out and we got to discover bits and pieces of the story. On the cover it says book 1 so I'm excited to see what book 2 will lead us to. I did have some minor issues but overall it was a great story. I think readers who want a book to read in one sitting that has both the plot and spice should pick this one up.

First let me start by saying how much I love Addison Arrowdell and the way she writes. Addison has a ways of bringing you into ANY story and making you feel apart of it. She has a lyrical way of writing that will make you wish her books never end. This is the same with the Men of Magic series starter, Smoke and Flame.

This story follows Elba who accidentally walks into a mugging and discovers that magical beings exist. She is thrust into a world of danger and intrigue when she meet Hem and Kip. They are the both agents for the agency, Men of Magic who will do everything in their power to make sure Elba is safe....but can they protect her heart as well?

Let me start this off by saying that I absolutely fell in love with this book. The writing is flawless and the sex scenes are so hot that you definitely will need a cool glass of water next to you while reading. Now when I say they are hot, I also mean that they are very well written without being gross. Some writers will take their scenes a bit too far. Addison can write a sex scene so well....We all call her the writer of heat with heart. Meaning all of her books are written with relationships that mean something. That very intense coupling that has you wanting more! now this book is not just about sex. There is a mystery to it that I need to know more about. This is a 3 book series so I am looking forward to finding out what happens. Go pick up this series! You will not be disappointed!!!! I give this book 5 stars!

“I told you my wand was magic.”

This was the first book in the Men of Magic series. Go ahead and crank up Heart’s song “Magic Man” and then think of strikingly seductive and sexy men whipping out their wands...and I am not talking Harry Potter magic wands, I am talking Magic Mike “wands”. There is even a threesome scene with the girl they rescue, so that dials up the steam even further!

Elba witnesses a mugging and convinces the two men of magic to not erase her memory. Essentially these two men who rescue her...Kipling and Hemingway, whom are best friends, grew up together through the bureau of magic but are complete opposites. One is interested in just using his “wand” with Elba, while the other takes time to woo her, charm her, engage, seemingly wanting more than just sex. The relationship that flourished between Elba and Kip was everything I hoped for. I was rooting for them from the beginning. Once truths start to come about, everyone is learning that the bureau might not be as wholesome as once believed. The ending lends itself to determine that truths will likely unfold, especially pertaining to Kip and Hem’s upbringing and everything good they believed to be true regarding the bureau might not be the case.

Although I love some smut and this book was nice and raunchy, I felt the storyline was a bit lacking and didn’t really pick up until the end, but the steam was on point! I am excited to see where the storyline takes us in book two and I am absolutely eager to finish out this series!

Elba is walking home one night when she stumbles upon what looks to be a mugging. But what's that strange smoke coming from the 2 gorgeous, scary men and why are they talking about erasing her memory!?

"Maybe she had hallucinated it all? Some sort of brain tumour perhaps?"

Elba is thrown into the magical world via the Men of Magic, a police force of the magical realm, dedicated to stopping those who think magic should be freely used and Normals are beneath them. The deeper Elba gets, the more she, and the 2 men, realize that maybe something else is going on.

This was a quick read - mainly because there was no chemistry between the characters, no world-building, no magic system explanation and Kip and Hem were basically the same character- personality/voice-wise. The writing was okay though, i.e I wasn't bored or wanted to skip through because of the writing - which sometimes happens when I don't like the characters.

If you like thrills and magic with your romance, along with:

🖤 Grey Sweatpants 😏
🖤 3some 👀 (this is a m|f book tho)
🖤 Magical release via smexy times
🖤 Banter

“Do you have a wand?”

“A wand?” Hem asked, dusting crumbs from his hands. Kip groaned beside her, but before Elba could question why, Hem hooked his thumbs into his sweatpants and began to pull them down."

I went into this one thinking I was getting a spicy romance, but it was so much more! The Men of Magic storyline kept me intrigued throughout the entire storyline, making me want to know even more about their magical world. Hem and Kip are the perfect compliment to each other with one being the more proper man and the other a tad Viking like! Then we have Elba, who gets caught in the middle of their magical world. Taking the spice completely out yielded a fun and exciting story. Adding the spice in made this a book that I just couldn’t put down! And now on to the sequel

Blood Sugar Sex Magic

No, I'm not talking about that old 90s album, but the debut by Addison Arrowdell. Two sexy magicians. Not David Copperfield and Chris Angel, but magic magicians. Think Harry Potter world if it was s-t-e-a-m-y AF. Besides loving the fact that you don't necessarily have to choose between with sexy magician you want (TeamKipling, please), I really enjoyed the backstory of the two magicians and the twist reveal. This will make a great series for fantasy lovers and and lovers of fantasy men!
