Brigs Ferry Bay #2

Kian's Focus

Rate this book
I lost my boyfriend on the night I had planned to propose.
It was a horrific accident that was all my fault.
I gave up and resigned myself into a life of obscurity.

Until I got a call that my sister, Sara, needed me.
It gave me purpose and I ran to her rescue.
Because that’s what I’ve done our whole lives.

That’s how I ended up in Brigs Ferry Bay.
But when I showed up, things were so much worse than I thought.
She was sullen, fragile, and sinking into a depression I didn’t know how I’d get her out of.
Together, we were drowning.

Until I met Kian.
He’s everything I’m not.
Bouncy, bubbly, full of life, and an innate ability to make everything better.
He makes me believe I can be happy again.

Now the unthinkable has happened and Sara is on the verge of losing her life.
Once again, it’s all my fault.
Kian had clouded my vision with promises of hope and forever.
I was so stupid to believe I could be happy again.

I try push him away.
To shove him out of the darkness that follows me.
I don’t want him to suffer the future fate had secured me to.
But Kian’s focus is on me
And he’s used to getting what he wants.

*Brigs Ferry Bay is a steamy MM romance series. While each book can be read as a standalone, to get the full experience, they’re best read in order.
Enemies to lovers, hurt comfort, age-gap romance, and so much more.
Fall in love with the charming small-town gay romances of Brigs Ferry Bay.

**Kian's Focus is an emotional mm romance. It deals in sensitive topics such as suicide, but it ends happily.

3 Scotch and Cocktail Stars ⭐

A grumpy fisherman walks into a gay bar. Okay so that's not exactly the story but it was kinda weird and NQR. Especially when teamed up with the flamboyant bar owner who wants to lick him all over. I just couldn't get on board with the dynamics.

Archer has moved back to Brigs Ferry Bay to help his sister and her kids. Although a favour to her, it ends up being a healing process for the pair of them. Returning from Alaska, not only has he left his old life behind, but also a lover he tragically lost.

Kian is out and proud and one of the colourful locals of BFB. Although unlucky in love, he is blessed with great friends and a thriving business. And of course he's not immune to the new bear of a man that has come to town and rejuvenated the gossip mill.

In a place where everyone knows everyone, it isn't long before Archer and Kian cross paths, leading them to form a tentative friendship with benefits. A mutually beneficial arrangement between the playboy and the man still in mourning.

"One kiss might not hurt."

"It would if it meant we couldn’t be friends." His large hand wraps around my calf that’s now folded in front of me.

"I can still be your friend. And it might just hold me off until maybe someday you’re ready." I sound desperate. Maybe I am.

"What if I’m never ready?"

"Then a kiss is all we’ll have." That’s a sad thought.

The gist of the story I enjoyed. A small town, age gap romance that I thought I'd love. Especially because I adored the first book in the series, 'The Sheriff's Secret' where we first met Kian. Truthfully, I liked Archer and Kian individually but just not as a couple. I felt uncomfortable watching them awkwardly interact. Kian was just too ostentatious that I found it off putting...

I didn't like the first book of the series, but when I saw that Kian's Focus was written by a different author I decided to give it a go.

Sadly, Kian in this book is a different Kian than the one we met in book 1. He's not as sassy or funny or flamboyant. Granted, in book 1, we saw Kian as Jax saw him; this time we see Kian as Archer sees him and as Kian sees himself. Even so, book 1 Kian and book 2 Kian don't match.

My biggest gripe with this story, however, is that Sara, Archer's sister and Kian's employee, takes up a lot of page time. She's the third MC. Sara's abusive husband left her and the kids, and she's overwhelmed and depressed, which is why Archer moves to Briggs Ferry Bay.

I wish the Sara storyline hadn't been quite so obtrusive. As it stands, the relationship lost focus for me.

Also, the ending isn't particularly satisfying. It's very much a HFN. I wanted more.

Misty Walker has done it again. Love this book, and she never disappoints. Whoever came up with Misty and K.Webster in the Brigs Ferry Bay series is a genius. I was hooked from the very beginning. It gutted me and then put me back together again.

We first meet Kian in Sherriff’s Secret, and I just loved him. Smart, kind, and caring. Owns a wine bar and Gay bar next to each other. He is flamboyant and sometimes conceded, but is loyal and gives his whole heart. I am in total awe of his strength.

Archer is new in town to help his sister, still battling with the guilt and loss of his partner. A commercial fisherman by trade. Archer’s focus is his family, the parents were never really in the picture, and Archer helped raise his sister. He is angsty and such a great family man. Needless to say, he didn’t see Kian coming into his life.

Kian’s Focus is a story of loss, guilt, depression, trust, and love. The chemistry between the two is off the charts steamy. The ending was everything; Misty kept me on edge. Looking for a great MM Romance, I highly recommend this book, and as a true New Englander, we would say it’s Wicked Good.

So this story was tougher and sadder than i thought 💔💔💔

Topic like the death of the one we love and depression are not easy ones; but the author balanced hurtful moments with funny and sweet ones, and the result is perfect.

I was not a fan of Kian after reading Sheriff's secret, but i had to change my mind:
he is not only the man who like to flirt and have fun, he is also caring and sweet. And what happened with Jax left a mark on him too.

And Archer...
Gosh that man had a shitty life, and even if i didn't like many of his decisions/actions i totally understand him and love him because he decided to fight.
In the end i loved this couple even if they drove me crazy sometimes LOL
And their chemestry was off the chart 🔥🔥

There's another thing i loved about this book:
the side characters are not just irrelevant presences, they are part of the story.
But maybe this is not a good thing because now i want a book about each one of them 😏😏

Kian's Focus was my first book from Misty Walker, and i can definitely tell you it won't be last 😍

I'm back in Brigs Ferry Bay and Misty Walker's story has solidified that this is where I shall stay for the rest of my days.

Kian's Focus is the second instalment in the Brigs Ferry Bay series, and it is the perfect follow up to book one. Not shying away from loss and heartache, Walker's characters go on a perfectly imperfect journey of heartbreak and healing.

Opposite's in every way Kian and Archer's connection is unexpected yet unmistakeable. Packed with heat and and heart, and layered with a multitude of emotions; their happy ever after is hard fought and well deserved.

Kian's Focus is another grand slam in this series and I can't wait to see what's next from Misty.

FtThis book had so much potential but unfortunately it did not deliver.

1. The grieving
In the beginning Archer still grieved for his boyfriend, who died a year ago. Though this is a big issue in the beginning it's never mentioned again except in the end. That was irritating. You can grieve for someone and still get to know someone else and get over it, but how can the grieve suddenly disappear?

2. The depression
The word depression was used inflationary and not only to describe a mental illness but also as a synonym for: sad, in a bad mood, down, ...
One character in this book deals with depression and I believe it is bad writing if you're not properly using terms of the mental illness you are describing.

3. The relationship
There was so mich wrong. They changed the rules so fast, it was not even funny.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

Jesus Christ this book. Ok. So. I'm raw. I just finished and I'm a mess and I'm happy and I'm filled with so much love for Archer. I think he is one of my most favorite characters ever. I love how flawed Kian and Archer are and how they grow together. Kian especially. I wanted to shake him sometimes lol, but then he grows so much and it's so beautiful to watch. I love when an author can make you so angry and so sad and so happy at the same time. This book takes you on such a journey, vivid from page one. Misty Walker's writing chops show immensely in this book. Smart. Poignant. Heart wrenchingly perfect. Kian's Focus is a 10 star read.

You guys … this book is good! I mean like really good! I had the pleasure of reading Kian’s Focus immediately after finishing Sheriff’s Secret so that might have added a bit to my euphoria over this story but not much. All my bliss came from the story and the exemplary way Misty Walker once again blew my heart to smithereens and glued it back together all in fell swoop! I was already madly in love with Brigs Ferry Bay and its community, both the good and bad, but now I am next level crazy in love with them!

This story was bigger than a romance journey. So much bigger, and every instance and plot point blended well together and was dealt with realistically and with respect to the subject at hand. Stories like this, inherit to deep emotion and serious subject matter, can sometimes get very dark but Misty wrote Kian as a character that shined brightly even in the shadows. I’m not going any further with my review because I’m afraid I might give away some plot points and every reader deserves to read Archer’s journey and Archer and Kina’s journey with a blank slate (that’s a hint for you guys to NOT read too many reviews lol). The transformation and journey within these pages should be discovered by everyone as they read because it is outstanding! Happy reading!

A Well-Written Sweet Heart-aching MM Story With Loss, Guilt, Hurt, Living Again, Choices, Falling, Being there for eachother, Love+Care & Gorgeous HEA.
I loved Kian, Archer + their Family & Friends. I was so excited to see Kian's HEA, DEVOURED this story in 6hrs.
#My 1st by Misty Walker and I'm so going for more!

We know Kian from the previous book..
Kian; Flamboyant, Bubbly, Funny, Charismatic, loyal; is the owner of a Bar & a Gay club which are side by side. I love his personality❤. He's been burned by love before & isn't looking for it (or so he thinks).
~I wanted to see Kian's feelings regarding Jax (Hero of previous book, K's Ex =High school Closeted Sweetheart who recently came out), & it was Understandable+fun!
Archer; Caring, Protective, Good, Family Man; is a commercial Fisherman. The book's start broke my heart seeing He's been hurting for a year since losing his Partner- Mason in an accident. A's parents never cared much, so he's been taking care of himself & his Sis- Sara since Childhood. And Now he has Come to Town to help Sara & her kids (Emmy & Lou, Sweeties!) After her Loser husband left'em.
~Archer is too hard on himself, not every bad thing is his fault..
>>Both our MCs are Out & Proud Gay, which is kinda obvious; but Archer doesn't Directly tell Kian that until later.

Kian & Archer meet as Sara works in Kian's bar; & They'd to literally clean shit *Snicker*. The Spark of their attraction is Hot & Consuming BUT Archer Friend-zones Kian. Kian isn't gonna let go without a fight though..
And as they did things together..Talks, Tour, Sis Truth, Care, Brunch, The Kiss, Texting.. Kian breaks through Archer's Walls & he opens up.
Then at K's Club, after Getting a dose of Jealousy, Archer finally let's his Desire for Kian reign..Cue Sexy Times!
They agree to keep it casual, As Archer says it isn't the right time BUT as days pass, Feelings Grow AND soon they had the Relationship Talk *Yay!!*. Made it Real.

But not everything's great, Sara's Mental Health is Deteriorating fast. Which caused fights b/w A+K, as Kian said she needed professional help but Archer said its a Phase, & will pass. Things were Bad, Good..Then Worse.
~Sara Drunk at Work, Choices, Break up & Just Friends, Calm before the Storm, Archer's Determined to win Kian Back..
Then Shit hits the Fan with Sara (Suicide Attempt!!) which hurted Archer deeply & Showed him that Kian was right. Kian's there for Archer & the kids as Sara finally takes Professional help. A+K realise it's Love binding them, but Will Fear stop them from taking the leap?
~Being a Family, Fun times, No sex but lots of Feels, Still Just Friends? Hurting & Distancing.. Then She's back & Kian goes back to His own Life (Friends Time!).. Missing the Family life. Missing Archer.

Sara's so much better *Happy Tears* But Archer is Sad without Kian (Gotta do something!) And He's still tangled up in his Want to take care of her. Then..
Heart-racing Scenes occur when Archer's in an Accident *Oh shit* (So much like Mason's!) Which Helps him realise the Extent of his feelings for Kian.
~Scared Shitless, Realisations & Resolution..
And When Archer wakes up, He & Kian finally Confess their feelings!!😍 (Me, Sara & Friends are so happy!)
Gladly, the story doesn't end here & show us their happiness & A+K on a date! *Swoon + Fanning myself*
The Epilogue was Lovely, Funny & Sweet with I love yous!

I'm so excited for Callan's (Dante's bro) & all the future Stories (Hope we get the Friends' books!) in this Awesome Series❤.
FUN FACT: This was my last book of 2020 & 1st Review of 2021, And I'm so happy for that!

This was my first book by the author and I really enjoyed it, especially because it’s a M/M romance and I love reading them. Besides I wanted to read Kian’s story and see his HEA.

Archer and Kian were amazing, I loved how sweet and caring Archer was with his niece and nephew, and despite not being very open about his life at first, little by little he started trusting Kian and their scenes were really hot and steamy!🔥

Kian was wonderful too, he was always there for his friends and everyone around him, even people he didn’t know well, so they were the perfect match.

Now can’t wait to read Callan’s story and maybe hope Cato gets his own story too.

Kian’s Focus is the second book in the Brigs Ferry Bay series, and I was eager to read it after enjoying Sheriff’s Secret. I’ll be honest and say I did not enjoy this quite as much as I enjoyed the first book, but it certainly had me hooked and left me eager for more.

After falling in love with Kian in the first book, I was curious to find out about the man who’d win his heart. Within no time, I had fallen in love with the characters and their story, leaving me desperate to see how the pieces would come together. With plenty of emotion packed into the pages, I was unable to put this one down. Sure, there were some things I would have liked more from; however, it made for great quick reading and ensured I fell deeper for Brigs Ferry Bay.

Without a doubt, fans of book one need to dive into this.

“My very own good luck fucking charm.”

Book 2 in the series is about Kian Abrams, Sheriff Jaxson Bell's high school sweetheart. Kian, 29, loves his life, he has a sparkling personality and is proud of his ass that is perky and bubbly. My best ass-et, really.
Contrary to Kian, Archer Warren, 40 a sexy, beefy, hunky, hulking man is sad and is hurting over losing his boyfriend. On top of all that he has come to Brigs Ferry Bay to take care of his depressed younger sister and her two children.

This story has so many ups and downs, it's a miracle the Warren family is even able to get up in the morning. But amidst all that Archer and his sister are experiencing, Archer is undeniably attracted to the bubbly Kian He oozes sexuality with everything he does.

This was an okay read, and I wonder what is next in Brigs Ferry Bay.

“Kian’s Focus” is the second book of the “Briggs Ferry Bay” series by the author Misty Walker. Told in dual perspectives , get ready to meet Archer and Kian!!

Another amazing MM romance in this series! I am just so addicted. The way Misty writes is amazing and this is the first MM book of her that i have read and she sure did not disappoint!

Kian’s story was a tale of love and sacrifice. He was a gay man and a shy one too. He had already been burned once and there was no way he was going down that path again. No matter how much Archer tempted him. He had his demons and now it was upto these two to overcome them and make their own HEA!

The story had this overwhelming vulnerability that just won’t let me leave this book until the very last page. It was full of pain and love and definitely a top MM read of mine! A definite recommendation to all the contemporary romance lovers out there!

Kian is probably my favorite character. Other than Cato. I love him too 😂 The Gays of BFB are absolute best and Mayor Bell can go fall in a deep hole.

Archer and Kian were SIGHHEARTS. They took some time to truly come to together but it was for good reasons.

Kian's Focus by Misty Walker was an emotional, heartwrenching, steamy MM romance set in the unique Maine town of Brigs Ferry Bay.

The opening to this book broke my heart. It ACHED for Archer and what he lost. That man was so stoic, yet vulnerable. Dominant, yet considerate. The love he had for his sister, niece, and nephew was so beautiful. While fighting his own darkness it prevented him from seeing his sister's and that resulted in a scary situation. Luckily, only positive things came from that, but the road to the ending was tough. He was the big, burly fisherman with a heart of gold.

Kian, I'll admit, got on my nerves in the beginning. He seemed a bit conceited and prima donna-ish but then I came to see it was just his bubbly, outgoing personality. He saw straight through Archer and at the risk of breaking his own heart, he still took the plunge. And it was hooooot. Good grief, their scenes were amazing. Kian was the pretty, stylish, almost flamboyant bar/club owner who wore his heart on his sleeve.

At the heart of this story was loss, depression, trust, and strength. There were layers of plot, blips of humor, and that small-town feel. Add in the sexy AF tension, a bit of drama, the wrong time scenarios, a bit more drama, some angst, and an AMAZING HEA, and Kian's Focus was another 5 star read in this series. These books are of average length but they flew by.

Be still my angst- loving heart! Kian’s Focus is both heartwarming and heart wrenching. It’s a story of loss, forgiveness, acceptance, and finding love again. This story checked all the boxes I love in romance!

This is the second M/M romance story I have read by Misty Walker, and I have to say she met and exceeded my craving for this genre. Right off the bat, Misty captured my attention with one of the most heartbreaking opening scenes I've ever read in this opposites attract story. And as the story progresses, we get to meet the side characters, and they were just as incredible as the main characters (Kian and Archer)
I am really looking forward to reading more books set in this small town. I can't wait to read Sheriff's Secret by K Webster to see where it all started.

Right from the start I was hit in the emotions and teary eyed! What an incredibly emotional beginning!
The characters and their story are simply AMAZING!
It’s a story with a quite few heavy/emotional storylines... and yet it also made me laugh, smile and swoon!
All the emotions were hit so well. So perfectly balanced.
The hot factor is scorching! These two men are fire!
I love their opposite personalities, it really makes the interactions so lively. I adore them both!
The secondary characters are incredible, too. Emotions and a lot of laughs from them as well. A secondary character has a very serious storyline that added a lot in my opinion.
It’s such a full and well rounded story with rich, well developed characters.
So very satisfying. I couldn’t put it down!
I’m in love with this small town with lots of interesting and HOT men!
These are characters I won’t forget and I can’t wait for more!
Hot and emotional MM romance set in a small town. I’m in love with everything about it!

This was my first Misty Walker book and I have to say,
I’m a new fan. She wrote a story that had emotional tragedy, real ass shit, humor, swoon worthy romance, and belly-laughing-humor all in one book. It was perfect.
🦞
“Archer’s full of passion and intensity. It’s what drew me to him. I’m the ocean, calm and steady. But he’s the waves, turbulent and unpredictable.”
🦀
Archer and Kian. Well. We know a little about Kian if you read the first book Sheriffs Focus. He’s a flamboyant openly gay and proud man who’s successful with owning two businesses in town. Confident and a bit cocky, he’s everyone’s friend in town.
🐟
“I know I’m a catch. I have a fabulous sense of humor, amazing taste in clothing, and I own two successful businesses. What more could anyone want?”
🦞
And we have Archer. The new guy in town. He’s silent, a bit standoffish. What the town doesn’t know is Archer lost the love of his life on a boating accident (cue the tears literally 2% into the fucking book) and with his sister needing his help after her POS husband up and left her and their two children, Archer decided to leave Alaska and come help her out.
He wasn’t expecting to meet anyone.
He definitely wasn’t expecting Kian.
🦀
Let’s just say a shitty thing happened in the back of Archers truck, leaving Archer shirtless.. and instant interest on both ends started up.
🐟
This is not a insta-love story.
This story is emotional. This story is at times a bit heart breaking. Misty Walker shines a light on real shit like mental health and it’s impact it can have on someone AND their family.
It’s a tough roller coaster.
But what I can say is everyone gets a realistic HEA. Absolutely adorable series so far. I’m truly enjoying these books.
🦞
And now, I leave you with this:
🦀
“I got up close and personal with the juiciest ass I’ve ever seen. I’m talking two honey hams sitting side by side, screaming to be devoured.” - Kian

I have been meaning to read this author for a while but I’ve been listening to audiobooks almost exclusively the past year, so Kian’s Focus is the first book that I have read by her. It definitely won’t be the last. This book knocked my socks off! I loved it. I hated each time I had to put it down and couldn’t wait to get back to it. Now, over a day later, I still can’t stop thinking of the main characters, Kian and Archer. Reading this book was such a delicious escape from reality. I was so completely captivated by everything.

We are introduced to one of the main characters, Kian, in Sheriff’s Secret, book 1 of the Brigs Ferry Bay series, written by K Webster. After reading that book, I was really looking forward to reading more about him and getting his story. And now we have it! Each book in this series is standalone so you can read them in any order.

I don’t want to give anything about the story away beyond the fact that this is a MM romance, so I’ll talk a bit about the writing. It is very well written. The author painted a full picture with her words. Everything was so authentic and genuine, down to the most subtle of details. Nothing seemed contrived. What the author wanted to convey about a particular moment, came through the page clearly. When there was an awkward moment happening between characters, not only was the dialogue awkward, but their body language and movements were as well. I felt awkward with them.

The characters' thoughts, insecurities, decisions, etc. were all so relatable. The characters felt real, and I really wanted to see them succeed. The character development was spot on and done so organically. The relationship building was beautiful. I could have spent several hundred more pages with them, watching everything unfold and I still wouldn’t be tired of them.

There were some sad things in Kian’s Focus…some very sad…but it was balanced so well with flirty and fun. Even through the storm, we could see the rainbow peeking through. My favorite thing was that there was the perfect amount of wit and humor included where I laughed out loud multiple times. Some themes of this book are perseverance, resilience, strength, love, loss, loyalty, and faith.

So although I won’t be going into detail about what happens in Kian’s Focus, I will say that the journey this book takes you on will be worth it and you will be left feeling full and satisfied. And for those needing a bit of a sneak peek, I will also say, this book is FIRE. There are some scorching hot scenes meant for adult eyes only. I highly recommend Kian’s Focus. 5 stars.

I thoroughly enjoyed this!!!!
I adored the first book in the series and I was very excited about Kian's story.
Let me say that I absolutely loved Archer. He was a wonderful match for Kian.
I enjoyed how sweet and heartwarming this was. When I first met Kian in the first book, I didn’t know what to make of him.
But this book gave me a proper look into his character and I fell in love with him.
Archer and Kian couldn't be more different and yet they were so right for each other.
There is humor, emotion and beautiful moments between our characters.
I am so in love with these books. I cannot wait for the next book.

Kian is still getting over the love of his young life picking another man. Archer is still in mourning from losing the love of his life in an unspeakable accident. Two men, neither saw the other coming.

This book was by turns happy and sad. Kian’s character is snarky and sweet, while Archer carries around the weight of the world. Depression (sometimes severe) is a delicate issue and I thought the author did a good job of portraying the challenges that have to be dealt with in living with and treating the illness.

That said, this is still a nicely told story of mending broken hearts and creating a new future. Great characters with some over the top supporting friends and great sleepovers. Small towns have a way of creating big stories.

Oh Kian and Archer, you were meant to be!

These two were broken, but when their jagged pieces came together they fit perfectly! They both had baggage, Kian from high school and Archer losing his love in a tragic accident a short time ago. They soothed something in each other that was profoundly hurt. Archer was stubborn at times, but Kian didn't let go when Archer tried to push him away.

I loved their dynamic, the inclusion of the secondary characters was just right and the chemistry between Kian and Archer was smoking hawt 🔥🔥🔥

This is the first book I've read by Misty Walker, I'm definitely a fan now. I am dying to know who Callan's love interest is in the next book! I have a hunch, or maybe I should say I hope it's....

I just recently discovered Misty Walker when I read Birdie's Biker and I was impressed with her writing. However, this book has turned me into a devoted stalker and she is now a one-click author for me.

Kian's Focus was so much more than I could have imagined and it was literally a perfect story, with perfectly imperfect characters, and a storyline that hit home for me on a personal level. This book had me laughing one minute, holding my breath the next, and then crying. I was a wreck by the time I finished this book. This book wrecked me and then put me back together.

Kian, Jax's first love, the boy that Jax (Sheriff's Secret) turned his back on at graduation, the man that has grown into his own and is funny, caring, and just amazing. I am in love with Kian and I really need more!

Kian's Focus is Archer and Kian's story. Archer has been through a devastating loss and is now back home helping his sister Sara after her husband left her with two young kids for his secretary. Because of his loss, Archer has been surviving, but not living and Sara is barely hanging on, and in comes Kian.

Kian gives Sara a job, and being the wonderfully kind human he is, he is very supportive to her plight and then Kian and Archer meet. OMG the meeting between these two is one that will go down as most original/best character's meet EVER! I was laughing my ass off.

But the laughter is only temporary...because then we start getting into the feels and the story as we start delving into the character's back stories. Kian is the character you want to be best friends with, you want to join in on his slumber parties, and can taste his pancakes with oreos. He is compassionate and strong, but he also hasn't been in a real relationship because of his insecurities due to his failed relationship with Jax.

Archer doesn't know if he will ever love again and is in BFB to help his sister with her two very young kids. He is a fisherman, works with his hands, strong, and comfortable in old band t-shirts and jeans, the opposite of Kian. Kian, the smooth fashionista, owns a wine bar, and can cook like a gourmet chef.

Sara, Archer's sister, is just so lost. She's trying to raise two children while feeling like her husband leaving is all her fault. Sara's story hit me the HARD! It definitely hit home and reopened some old wounds.

Kian's Focus will take you on a painful journey of loss, forgiveness, and finding one's self again. It is a story that will grab your heart and just squeeze until you feel like it's being ripped open, and the twists will hurt like hell. But, the journey is definitely worth it. To get to those last few chapters was worth the laughter, the tears, the heartache, and the pain. This was a beautiful book and I can't recommend it enough! The Brigs Ferry Bay series is amazing and you will be missing out if you don't read these books!

I mean wow, just wow. It’s no surprise to me that I would love the story, I mean it’s a Misty Walker story, and I love her writing. She has the ability to bring you into a story and you never want to leave, she gives the characters such depth and demension that they become more than just characters in a story.

This is a story about Archer and Kian, this is not a fairytale romance, this is a journey of emotion and vulnerabilities of two men coming to terms with their insecurities and their sense of loyalty to others.

Misty could have taken the easy road and wrote a story filled with gratuitous scenes and cliché homosexual stereotypes, but she doesn’t do that. She wrote a real, raw story that makes you feel every emotion. I love this series and I cannot wait for more.

After being introduced to the small town of Brigs Ferry Bay and its sexy lawman in Sheriff’s Secret, I instantly adored the feel of the community and the people in it. I truly wanted to love this story as much as I did the first, but sadly it fell short for me.

In Sheriff’s Secret, we met Jax, the small town sheriff who as a teen chose hiding his sexuality rather than coming out to be with his boyfriend, Kian. Kian was as much resentful of Jax as he was still pining for his first love all these years later. But now is Kian’s turn to find love, and he does so with Archer, the sexy new fisherman that comes to town.

Archer’s story is heartbreaking. After losing the love of his life, Archer has moved to Brigs Ferry Bay to help his sister after the breakup of her marriage. Immediately, he meets his sister’s boss, the fun and flirty, over the top Kian. Individually, I loved these two. They were each very different men, but they had something about them that pulled me in. For Archer, it was the big teddy bear of a man with the soft, sad heart. For Kian, it was the flare and flash and being confident in the person he was. But overall, I’m not sure that the story worked for me.

As I said, I wanted to love this romance as much as I did Jax’s story. But I just didn’t. Although I loved Archer and Kian individually, I just didn’t feel the affection and attraction between them. They seemed too different from each other, and I’m not sure I ever felt more than a “friends with benefits” vibe from them.

Second, I fell in love with the characters from the first story. What happened to them?? Most of them were not present in this book in any way beyond a passing reference. Even Jax and Dante only had the briefest of roles. Additionally, the reader was made to root for Jax and Dante in Sheriff’s Secret. Yet here, Kian is constantly expressing how bitter he is about Jax’s relationship, and Jax is portrayed as the bad guy. I felt as if I was being forced to take a side against a character I adored, rather than have Kian grow in this story.

Finally, I felt as if this story got lost in the side characters rather than focusing on Kian and Archer. Archer had so much tragedy in his past, Kian had years of nurturing feelings of resentment. And yet the story seemed to become mired in the depression of Archer’s sister and in my opinion, strayed too far from the characters I wanted to read about.

Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that this series is being written by two different writers, but I felt a definite change in tone from one book to the other. I still read this story in one sitting so it certainly was engaging, but I don’t feel like I was reading one cohesive series. I am looking forward to the next book to be released, but it is dealing with more of the characters from the first book who I sorely missed in this one.

Kian owns the wine bar and Club in Brigs Ferry Bay. He is out, proud and looking to eventually find love one day. Archer is new to BFB and came to help out his younger sister, after experiencing a tragic lost.

My heart broke for Archer. His past is heartbreaking and I can only imagine the pain and loss he must be feeling. I just wanted to hug the man. Kian is almost like the town therapist; he is easy to talk to and everyone seems to come to him to talk and for advice. The moment him and Archer meet he knows there is something more to Archer, he can see the sadness in his eyes. He wanted to know his story.

Archer and Kian’s story was beautiful, it was emotional. I completely fell in love with these two men, the bond they formed and the relationship they have with each other. I also loved the support they provided to each other. They become each other’s rocks.

The story itself does deal with some very tough topics, but the way Misty Walkers handles them throughout this story is perfect. She doesn’t glamorize any of it, it is raw and it is real and they are real struggles that many people experience and the effects that they can have on friends and family.

If you’re looking for a small-town MM romance that is full of emotions, heat and some lightness that will make you smile this is one to check out.
