Two vampires and a re-materialized ghost. We were the terrors of New Orleans... and humanity's only hope.
We thought we’d vanquished Asmodeus, but he found a new host. On top of that a new demon who inhabits multiple hosts at once is on the rise. And he's multiplyig himself by the minute.
Now with infernal magic at our disposal we can take the demons out, but not as quickly as they are reproducing.
And the darkness I’ve embraced in order to wield infernal power… it’s changing me.
And you thought I was heartless, before…
The prophecy had said I’d be called “antichrist,” I’d be the bloody devil incarnate. The queen of demons… but these demons won’t bend the knee to me or anyone else.
I’m Mercy, and together we are the weird sisters. We’re badass bitches with something to prove. But if we’re going to save human kind, and therefore all of vampire kind, we need something else… someone else… and we need to figure it out soon before this demon horde spreads any further.
Bloody Devils is the fourth book in Theophilus Monroe's Legacy of a Vampire Witch series. These vampires don’t sparkle. If Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles ever met the Mayfair witches you might end up with a character like Monroe's Mercy Brown. She is a ruthless, badass, snarky anti-hero straight out of your worst nightmares. But you will want to root for her nonetheless!
Theophilus Monroe is a fantasy author with a knack for real-life characters whose supernatural experiences speak to the pangs of ordinary life. After earning his Ph.D. in Theology, he decided that academic treatises that no one will read (beyond other academics) was a dull way to spend his life. So, he began using his background in religious studies to create new worlds and forms of magic-informed by religious myths, ancient and modern-that would intrigue readers, inspire imaginations, and speak to real-world problems in fantastical ways.
Bloody Devils (The Legacy of a Vampire Witch #4) was a good read by Theophilus Monroe. The weird sisters are two vampires and a re-materialized ghost. They are not only terrors of New Orleans, but also humanity's only hope. Unfortunately Asmodeus has found a new host. There is also a new demon who inhabits multiple hosts at a time and seems to be multiplying himself by the minute. The sisters are able to take the demons out but not as quickly as they are reproducing. I love Kelley Hazen's narrations and can't wait to read more by the author.
Join the adventure. Join the mystery. Join the suspense. Above all else fall into the life of Mercy and you might not ever come out. Will the prophecy come true? Will they bend on their knees? Will she accept Asmodeus help? Can she trust him? I don't want to give much away so follow along and feel what Mercy feels along with a few cry's.

This is book four of The Legacy of a Vampire Witch story and continues the tale of Mercy Brown, a witch who was turned into a vampire when dying from consumption. Her mentor and fellow witch Moll, had her own plan for Mercy and tricked her father into believing she killed Mercy, by removing her heart and destroying it. But all this did was leave Mercy as a vampire unable to be killed by a stake and with a brother Edwin, who soul was stuck in hell and link to her very survival. Now demons are possessing humans and making them poisonous to vampires. Demons have plans to take over the world and kill off vampire’s food source. Mercy’s love Ramon was possessed by a demon called Asmodeus and the magical advice she was given from Moll’s grimoire and from Cain, ended up killing Ramon, but allowing the demon to flee, but left them thinking they had defeated it.
Now Mercy has joined up with another newer vampire called Hailey and a re-materialised ghost called Julie, who is turns out is her half-sister. They start to terrorise areas of New Orleans, for a bit of dark fun, using Julie to scare people towards Mercy and Hailey, so then can feed off these scared humans, hopefully with not too many of them actually dying, but she isn’t really concerned. Since Ramon was killed, it has left her normal earth magic erratic, but also left her able to access infernal magic and power from within herself, by embracing her inner wickedness! She learns that Asmodeus did not get destroyed when Ramon died and now he wants to make a deal with Mercy. He will let her know where other demons are, so she can kill them, but he wants something from her in return. And what he wants, isn’t something Mercy really wants to give him!
He gives her the name and location of one very dangerous demon called Legion. He is capable of possessing multiple victims at a time and using possessed vampires, to create dozens, hundreds or even thousands of brand new and out of control new vampires, but they only find this out after being ambushed by a large number of new vampires. Mercy and Hailey have received the cure to this demon plague, but don’t know which humans are safe, nor which vampires need the cure or have already been possessed. Mercy, Julie and Hailey are getting themselves the name of the Weird Sisters and Mercy was prophesied to become known as the ‘antichrist’ and Asmodeus wants to rule hell, with her at his side! Not going to happen! Asmodeus is the demon of lust and it looks like he is pretty fixated on Mercy. They will have to work out another way to take down Legion, before all of mankind are lost. The three sisters are trying their hardest to get humans to fear them, but not create too much chaos, as to gain the attention of the Council or any remnants of the Order of the Morning Dawn.
Moll is hiding something, but insists that Mercy continue to concentrate on using her infernal power, whilst the priest she killed accidently when she first accessed this power, tells her she can still make a choice and use earth magic and the power of the old gods and goddesses. A massive betrayal for Mercy as she and her sisters must fight the horde of demons in the town and those in charge of them. More twists and turns as the book comes to an end, with many issues still to be resolved. One major problem may have been averted for now, but that doesn’t mean that the remaining demons won’t continue to try to overthrow Lucifer and use the mortal world to play out all their evil plots in the meantime. Dangers are still out there and their location unknown, so lots more to come in the next book in this series. Another exciting read with almost non stop action! I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
Three are better than one! Theophilus Monroe extends the roster with Bloody Devils. Meet Julie & Hailey. We know diminutive Hailey from an earlier episode, Book #2 of THE LEGACY OF A VAMPIRE WITCH, Bloody Mad. We have only just discovered a rather interesting connection between Mercy and the ethereal Julie Brown in our last installment, Bloody Wicked. Bloody Devils offers us the Weird Sisters, fashioned after Shakespeare's Scottish Play, sort of. Together, Mercy, Hailey and Julie are a riot. Think the Addams Family meets the Riders of the Apocalypse.
As one might imagine, the plot thickens in Bloody Wicked. Vampires continue to vamp, witchy mentor Moll becomes hard to predict, New Orleans is getting more unsafe and the demon(s) are out of control. Previous solutions are tanking by the dozens. And the betrayals are mounting faster than body parts from Mercy's old boyfriend's huntings.
The challenges of recording this series, THE LEGACY OF A VAMPIRE WITCH, increase as well. New spirits of power require me and Storyteller to think of even more engaging ways to create these terrors of Darkness & Light for the listener. Monroe offers comedic breaks with bad guy antics, as well as Mercy's digitally-challenged tendencies and Julie's reentry into the material world - and I'm not talking Madonna.
What impresses me most about Book #4 is Mercy's development as a character. It would be easy to consider this series a bit of YA fluff. Or a sensationalistic foray into Evil Land, rife with depictions of blood and guts anchored in sanguine humor. But as Mercy's survival becomes interlaced with humanity, her awareness of the world around her, and her role in it, offers a subtle counterpoint to the paranormal machinations. Illuminated in her love/hate therapy sessions with Doctor/Murderer Cain, Mercy Brown struggles and resists as she becomes a heroine, a woman, a being, to root for. She becomes 'Everywoman'. As much to her surprise as to ours.
I love this series. I love being Mercy Brown- badass vampire-ess. We've already recorded the conclusive Book #5, Bloody Gods. It should be released this week. It brings the series to a brilliant climax, a satisfying denouement with the required devilish Mercy Brown grin. But until then, the plot thickens with with just the right amount of hemoglobin. Bloody Devils - ENJOY!!!
Mercy Brown, the twice-dead heartless vampire and even deadlier than before
„Bloody Devils”, the four installment in “The Legacy of a Vampire Witch” series by Theophilus Monroe, which mix Urban Fantasy with Voodoo and Vampire tropes into an highly original tale, is the best book in the series for now, and believe it, this series has already established a very high benchmark.
Mercy Brown, the twice-dead heartless vampire, has become even deadlier after allowing her brother’s spirit to take over her body, and almost eradicating the French Quarter forever. After avoided the Order of the Morning Dawn for over hundred years, the demonic plot to poison humans by possessing them, have put Mercy once more on the radar. As a formerly infected vampire, she is immune to the threat which let her with two option, be used as “fore-taster” to ensure the human victims are innocuous for vampire consumption, or team up with Hayley, a sixteen-year-old fledgling, still unable to exert control after just a year (un)living as a vampire. And in a wink of destiny, the deadly do becomes the last front between humanity and the latest supernatural threat.
Theophilus Monroe possesses an uncanny storyteller gift that keeps building and adding detail to his overarching series world (Gates of Eden/Legacy of a Vampire Witch) with masterful precision. It takes a special kind of ingenuity to make a vampire, a cynical, ferocious to the point of savage, unrelenting, even vicious one, the main character of a series and one the reader actually falls for. Even so, make not mistakes, Mercy will never sparkle, she will rather cut your throat in your nightmares, but you will love her nevertheless and she will fully convince you that she indeed had a good reason to do so.
This series is a highly entertaining lecture in an original world populated by witches, vampires, werewolves, demons, voodoo-adapt… you name it, Monroe writes it, adding a couple of creatures in the process for good measure, even letting the Archangels come to out to play with the vampires (or possible the other way around 😊) … all of them wrapped up with a fantastic writing-style that blends every possible element of voodoo, magic, fantasy, mystery, a sprinkle of romance, history and coming-of-age into a insane tasteful brew, that goes nicely down, page after page and let a satisfying aftertaste… all that served between the covers of a beautiful book.
I made it clear I wasn’t overly fond of book 3. While I still think book 3 and 4 should have been merged, book 4 at least makes up for it. The characters we know and love continue to return. The story is revealed a little more.
As you’ve probably cum to expect by this point, especially if you read or listen to multiple books in this literary universe; It doesn’t end on a cliffhanger but you can’t say it wraps everything up either.
Overall, the combat is exciting. The scenes that are supposed to be intense land well. The reveals and twists are all well done. It kept me invested from start to finish.
There was a moment when Mercy Brown reveals that she’d been using duct tape to repair things around her home because she didn’t know-how. It’s the small details like that which make the world, characters, and the literary universe work. It’s not a scene about how Mercy needed duct tape and happened to have some. It explains why she has it and it’s amusing, endearing, and a plausible reason for a vampire to have some around.
The narrator has real talent. Audiobook narration wasn’t something I really appreciated until I began reviewing. I noticed she always read the chapter headers in a way that sounded cocky and arrogant. I could imagine her smirk as she read them and it fit Mercy’s personality well. In one chapter, Mercy was exasperated and it sounded like she read the chapter header to match. I now want to re-listen to all 4 audiobooks again just to see if that was in my imagination or if she really put that much work into matching chapter headers to the mood of the story. Regardless, she has a talent that deserves praise.

Theophilius Monroe is definitely one of my favorite writers. This is my first audio series and I find it to be very well done! He has a way of writing about a subject that you might fit into the horror series but it doesn't not in my mind. I absolutely love Mercy and her Weird Sisters and while she should hate humankind and she is a vampire; she is fighting hard to prevent the takeover of the world by a Vampire how who can repopulate by hundreds if not thousands. She is learning how to handle her powers and the new ones that have been given to her. She is also learning how to live with others and be the big sister of the group. He world has been taken away from her and she is fighting to get it back. But will she be able to? Will the weird sisters survive? They are outnumbered and her favorite man has been taken from her. She says she has no heart but can she feel love and loss without one? This is a finely crafted novel and I highly recommend it. I received this novel from StoryOrigin. This is my honest review.
Each book in the series gets better and better. 'Bloody Devils' seriously ramps up the Mystique of the devil reincarnate as well as the demons creating more vessels. Just as Mercy is coming to terms with her feelings, and the hang of her powers her script is once again flipped with betrayal. On the plus side she has luck with the gods...as in they heard and answered her call for help. The end was a showdown with the "weird sisters", the demon horde, and Lucifer reincarnate with the help of a goddess...I won't spoil who Lucifer is. Of course the baddie got away but it will be an even bigger fight, as Mercy has lost her infernal power, and the goddess' power only extends to the three in sync. It's a fantastic supernatural thriller with witches, vamps, demons, and gods. What more could you want?
I loved this fourth installment in this series. Mercy, a vampire-witch is a fabulous character to read about and she was even more fun in this book.
Mercy along with Hailey, another vampire-witch and Julie, a Voodoo ghost with a corporeal form have become The Weird Sisters. They are out to cause chaos wherever and whenever they can, to make humans fear them as much as possible, but at the same time, they know they cannot be too obvious in the limelight as that will bring unwanted attention their way. I loved the relationship, the sisterhood, between these three characters. They really do complement each other very well and work amazingly as a team! Not something you would expect of vampires and a ghost!
After finally defeating the demon Asmodeus in the previous book, they are devastated to hear he is back, residing within another vampire, but this time he has a deal he wants to broker! Luckily for Mercy, she's not stupid! She might be reckless at times, but never stupid! Unfortunately he's not the only demon to have arisen to Earth and to stop them all, The Weird Sisters need help from someone of old!
There were several twists and turns that I wasn't expecting in this book and they certainly kept me on my toes! This series is definitely one to read, but you do have to read it in order as several events and characters in previous books are referred to (and to be honest with a series this good, why not read them all anyway?!).
I cannot wait to read the next book in this series, which I believe will be the last sadly!

Bloody devil by Theophilus Monroe. This is book 4 of the legacy of a vampire witch series. Mercy Hailey and Julie are now the weird sisters. They thought they had vanquished Asmodeus. But he wants to work with them. There is a new demon on the scene Legion. A demon who claims multiple hosts at once and is replicating himself more quickly than I can take them down. Dozens, potentially hundreds and eventually thouasands, of new vampires, all possessed by one devilish mind... all working as one. And Asmodeus tells us he can help us take him down... The prophecy had said I’d be called “antichrist,” I’d be the bloody devil incarnate. The queen of demons… but these demons won’t bend the knee to me or anyone else. And I sure as hell can't trust Asmodeus. He has his own diabolical motives. But if I don't accept his help, we're as good as done. Legion will create and claim more vampire hosts than I can possibly handle... and if he succeeds, not only will humanity be lost, but all of vampire kind will be damned to demonic enslavement. A brilliant read. I love Mercy. And Hailey and Julie are growing on me. I love this series. Can't read it quick enough. I'm looking forward to book 5. 5*. Highly recommended
It gets better with each book!! Loved Mercy in this one. She has her humanity that most vampires don’t have yet she can be crazy devil could care less persona with her new power she got. I just love her. She is so complex. I love her interactions with her “Weird SIsters” too. The relationship she developed with her adopted younger sister and then her long lost half sister they are priceless. Learning new technology is priceless and reminds me of dealing with our grandparents. The characters continue to grow and I fall in love more and more. The storyline is new and fresh and nothing like I’ve read before which I am really enjoying. I know some are not enjoying and think too much contradiction of time but I haven’t found that at all. I have loved the back and forth that has been in the books and have followed it fine. This one didn’t have as much as previous ones and overall might have been my favorite book in the series. I also love Mercy and Cain and their banter. Rutherford is a hoot also. Highly recommend if you want a different take on vampires and witches.

This is my review of the audio version as posted on Audible:
More demons joining the party...:) It turns out listening to 4 books in a series one straight after another and then trying to write individual reviews for each one is hard...:) Especially with a series like this one, in which we have definite continuity of the plot and whatever happens has its roots in the previous book/books and is continued in the next one:)
In book four Mercy is still trying to figure out how to stop demons from possessing vampires, how to control her destiny, how to deal with Moll, and at the same time facing an even more challenging enemy. Legion - a demon being one in so many... The concept is not new, but it's very masterfully executed here, allowing Mercy and her weird sisters to show off a bit:) Again, characters are a definite strength of the book; they are complex, three-dimentional, real...
And again, narration by Ms Hazen brings the whole story to life, to a new level, with perfect voicing of individual characters, matching their personalities right to the point:)

This series just gets better and better! Mercy, a very unlikely heroine and a vampire, struggles with betrayals, yet she feels compelled to help humanity survive the demons that are invading humans and vampires alike. With her sister, Julie and Hailey, who Mercy sees as her little sister, they strive to bring balance to the world and eradicate the demon legion, threatening to take over. As,usual, Theo mixes it up with a twist to keep one guessing and enthralled and I was definitely not expecting it! This book is funny and strangely endearing. I mean, how can one feel so much compassion for a blood sucking vampire who is heartless, literally! Yet as the story unfolds, and Mercy evolves, her ability to love and protect are more and more evident. Mercy works together with her known enemies for the greater good and the 3 badasses sister become something more....unpredictable, interesting, intriguing and all together, a terrific series
Amazing series it just keeps getting better and better!!! I absolutely love how Mercy thinks she is so evil but somehow always does the right thing and yet still rocks being a badass!
She has this come what may persona and some truly wicked new powers and every step of the way she is trying to find a balance. What a fenominal character.
And Julie what a twist and becoming the weird sisters was really fun to read I love the trust and character bonding.
And Moll I mean this book really keeps you guessing. I could never really figure out her deal and there was always a hidden quality to her choices but I still never saw that coming. I loved the whole cell phone thing it had me laughing outloud trying to imagine ancient vampires and a ghost learning how to use them. I am so glad I found this author and series and I highly recommend it. It's a Bloody good time.

Nearly everyone she's loved has been taken from her, brother, boyfriend, and her mentor. Now she's left with a ghost half sister, a vampire witch friend and the resurrected witch who turned her. Top that off with a demon who wants to marry her. So, what's a little blood in the wind? Mercy wants to send a statement and does! It brings curious allies and reveals another close ally she can't trust. To top it off she has to stay relentlessly evil, no thoughts of mourning. When will it stop? This one has a well developed story line and needs just a little more character interplay. Hey, I was spoiled with the merry go round of characters from the first books.

Mercy Brown is at it again in Bloody Devils only now she has her half-sister Julie added to the mix. The trio of women call themselves the Weird Sisters and get a good laugh out of it. Mercy is suckered into helping Cain try to get the location of demons out of Asmodean who, in turn, is trying to get control of the infernal power that's in Mercy. Asmodean sends Mercy after Legion which turns out to be a trap. This book is a non-stop page-turner with shenanigans from cover to cover including some run-ins with The Order. Highly recommended.

Just when you think the story can’t get any better, it does! Demons are taking over New Orleans, creating new vampires and inhabiting their bodies, but how can The Weird Sisters defeat them? Follow the twists and turns as they try to follow the prophecy and harness infernal magic, but all is not as it seems… some ‘people’ are not who they say they are and things start to go horribly wrong. What can Mercy do to sort out the mess and start to make things right again?
Another gripping book in the Vampire Legacy series from Theophilus Monroe, i really can’t wait to see how everything turns out in the last book in the series!

A few spelling errors and missing words but other than that a great story. I got a kick out of the scene where Mercy figured out the microphone on her phone but the stupid thing didn't register what she was saying correctly and it sent something other than what she said. Then when she cussed it heard her fine and sent that. Been there always happens to me. In chapter 22 when Mercy told Moll which of the old gods they had called and with the naming of said god "a whirlwind seemed to pick me up, along with Julie and Emilie." Emilie should have been Hailey. I really enjoyed this.
Mercy, Hailey and Julie are coming together to act as one team to fight the demons and figure out how to wield their powers. It's a great series where the heroes are so wickedly bad, but you can't help but love them. Mr. Monroe does an excellent job of building believable characters and sets them in a real world which helps with the believability. Highly recommend this series.I volunteered to read this book via Booksprout.
Mercy !! Not so Weird after all , Although the trio are definitely a force to be reckoned with. I am an Honest ARC Reviewer , And this series all ties together nicely with the Voodoo Series , Mercy is a pawn ,and yet She along with her "Sisters" wreck Havoc , and spread fear through-out the French Quarter, A bout with the Hunters, and demons entertain the reader with page turning bravado. Good Book to read quickly, it's candy for the brain.
This is a wonderful addition to this thrilling series! Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believeable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story. Such a thrilling read that I couldn't put it down. Can't wait to read more of these. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the narrator and extremely enjoyable. Mercy is still very angry over the death of her best friend and feels betrayed by everyone, but Haley, and Julie, her sisters of choice. But one finally betrayal to turns the tables in this fight against the demons forever. This series just keeps getting better, with more unique characters being added and an action packed plot. Looking forward to the next book.
Mercy is back again for another entertaining adventure. It was a wild ride with new and old characters showing up. And Asmodeus is back too which was funny. Still Mercy is a crazy heroine for this tale and the situations she ends up in were funny. There was action, betrayal, friends, enemies and demons. So I was entertained and read to the end to see what was going to happen next.
This is the fourth book in this series and it is as good as the others. I always enjoy Mr. Monroe's books and this is no exception. Very well written, great characters and a wonderful story world! I cannot say enough good things about these books, so check them out yourself!

Through time, Mercy has done the improbable. She kept her humanity. She is determined to save her world. This book was action packed and very exciting. I found myself reading faster to keep up with the action in the book. I couldnt tear my eyes away from the pages. This is one heck of a book!

The 4th book in The Legacy of a Vampire Witch series, Bloody Devil's continues with Mercy and her sisters still trying to end the demon plague. The story definitely has unpredictable twists, lots of sassy wit and full of laughs! The audio narration is a great fit for the story and enjoyable to listen to! Looking forward to more!
Bloody Devils (The Legacy of a Vampire Witch #4) by Theophilus Monroe is another great book by this writer. In this book they thought they vanquished Asmodeus but he's back in a new host. Mercy, with the help of Hailey and Julie, along with others, need to figure things out soon before the demon horde spreads further
