A lifelong legacy. A strange ability. A haunted island.
Daisy’s heart breaks when Greg Bregoli, head of Bregoli Publishing, passes away, four years after she became a member of the Bregoli family. Then she learns that Greg has left everything—the business, the island, and the Bregoli Estate—to her. Competition leans in from all sides, but none so daunting as Byron Barnett, Daisy’s previous boss. Meanwhile, Daisy communes with a new spirit in the Bregoli Estate, convinced it’s Greg, but the spirit soon reveals harmful motives.
Alexandria Clarke is a writer, cat lover, and all-around optimist. She loves to immerse her readers in mystery and intrigue, meaningful friendships, and the worlds of characters who learn by doing. When she's not writing, Alex enjoys playing guitar, watching Wynonna Earp, and spending time with her family. She currently lives in Orlando, Florida with her partner and their four pets.

The Haunting of Bregoli Estate (A Riveting Haunted House Mystery Series Book 18)
Writer Daisy Dawkins has inherited Bregoli Publishing, Bregoli Estates on Coyote Island and a restaurant in Michigan. Her mentor Greg has passed away. Dealing with the haunting spirits that want her gone and one nemesis Byron Barrett who wants to steal the company from her leads to a lot of mystery. And also a few more deaths.
I need to go back and read Book 17 from Daisy Dawkins first meeting the owner Greg Bregoli.
I find that out of all the books by Alexandria Clarke that I've read so far, I like this one the most. Although, if you are after a real horror story then this is not for you. Sure, there were scary elements with Daisy's interaction with one of the ghosts in the estate but it was not a major part of the story. This turned out to be more of a dram-slash-feel good novel. There are similar aspects to the other Haunted House Mystery books. Someone dies, the huge house gets inherited by someone and it turns out to be haunted. But as with the other books where the mystery that needs to be solved is directly related to the ghosts. This one is more related to the living. Also, I can relate to Daisy. I also lack confidence but I find that when I am cornered my claws also come out. And like Daisy, more often than not in a fight-flight scenario, flight is my reflex reaction. I loved how Daisy's character improved and was built up as the story progressed. And I love the ending of how she was able to get ride of the nasty BODs of the Bregoli Group of Companies!
Just a warning to other readers, there is suicide, LGBT and PWD items touched on here. So if these are sensitive topics for you then you might want to skip this book.
So, I'm done with these books by Alexandria Clarke:
I don't know about this. This is the first book I've read of this series. And maybe I felt a bit missold because I really was expecting a ghost story.
As per other reviews, this is more a character study where I feel there was a lot of depth in the narrator. I appreciated the dark undercurrent of PTSD as a result of sexual abuse. The story arc worked
But there is something not specific that I didn't like about this book. Something in the writing. It seemed more chicklit than ghost story. The narrator was clearly extra sensitive but I felt quite a few times, especially in the second bit that plot devices were put in just to make sense.
So for example, in a first person story, I felt a bit surprised to be left out of the loop as to why the board formed. And it was explained as Leon confronted Daisy but just so hastily. And I just feel if you're going to rush something like that , it makes the "aha!" Moment feel contrived
What I'm getting at is that I suspect I was reading teen fiction. I liked and could relate to many of the characters, but there was rather a lot of them and so it felt like a soap. But in many ways this book did actually tie up the loose ends and I'm grateful for that.
I did finish this book in a week. So something compelled me to find out what happened next. But it wasn't the ghost story which became very anticlimactic beyondi the spooky cat. It just felt rushed out. I wouldn't recommend this but I'm curious to read earlier works by this author.
This is only the third book of the series that I've read. Is it hardcore horror, no. Great American literature, no. But, it was a comfort food type of read, with very likable characters, sort of a cozy mystery version of a horror story.
As trite as it sounds, I read this book with visions of this easily being a Hallmark movie, with a young Alan Rosenberg as Dean, and a young Gillian Anderson as Daisy. But, I don't mean it in a snarky way, because our heroine is Ms. Everywoman, fighting self doubts, dysfunctional family, and toxic workplace trauma. Ms Clarke is quite skilled at evoking visions of scenery and people without overdoing word count.
Although this was a sequel of sorts to The Haunting of Coyote Island, and wrapped up that particular storyline, to be honest, I would kind of like to see a follow-up to this book, letting us know where Daisy, Dean, Paige and the Bregoli family are now.
n odd book, set on an island at a writers’ retreat. The place seems to be enormous, and it’s haunted, not only by a cat and by its recently late owner, but also by more malevolent spirits. Daisy has unexpectedly inherited the place, just as the retreat is about to start, and though I should probably feel more sympathetic I find her attitude and those of her allegedly more experienced writer friends very immature, and the hostile board of directors a tableful of two-dimensional threats. However, I did keep reading partly because the sense of place is very strong and fairly charming. And the main character did improve – though I found her leaps in confidence a bit sudden. There are some true-to-life reflections on the publishing industry and the choices authors have to make these days. The real threat, though, aside from the board of directors, are the hostile spirits.
Daisy Dawkins is an author who has been requested to act as a mentor on Greg Bregoli's island retreat. When she arrives, though, she finds Greg has died and has named her his heir and CEO of Bregoli Publishing.
Daisy has been a guest on the island in previous years and has discovered she can see ghosts, specifically the ghost of Greg's wife and his beloved cat. However, this year she sensed a malignant presence as well as that of the cat.
Daisy has no experience running a business and the Board of Directors has no intention to make the transition easy. In fact, it is their intent to steal the business from Daisy.
A good read, although it could have been edited a bit better as at timed omitted words or incorrect words affected the meaning.
This is a sequel to the previous book in the series and I’m pretty sure it’s the first sequel of the entire run. It was so nice to revisit Coyote Island and the Bregoli Publishing family. Set four years later, Daisy is now a mentor during the summer retreats and gets a very unhappy shock to find that her boss and friend Greg has died. He leaves her the entire company. Queue a whole bunch of board room shenanigans and drama as she tries to learn on the job. While that itself was fun, the real stars are the ghosts. Apollo the ghostly ginger tabby is back, along with a new phantom that has it out for Daisy.
I loved the two books, and hope the characters show up in future novels.
Daisy Dawkins is back. After five years of going to Coyote Island for the writer’s retreat, Daisy is now a mentor. But when she gets there she finds out that the owner and a father figure to her, Greg Bergoli, has died peacefully in his sleep and made her his heiress to everything he owned. Now she not only has the stress of being a mentor, but the stress of running his companies, and the Coyote Island retreat. And someone or something is out to sabotage everything. To not only make sure she loses the company but her life as well. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review
This novel follows Daisy Dawkins, and her continued journey in the world of publishing, and being published. It focuses mainly on, well I can't give the main details, as that would spoil many surprises.
Personally, I did not find it as thrilling as the first novel that introduces Daisy, or other characters that continue on in this sequel. Also, considering the story centers around writers and publishing houses, the improper usage of words (example: out instead of our, in one instance) and grammar is sort of a slap in the face to the reader. Spending precious reading time to reread sentences and figure out the correct word that should have been used...that's why only 3 stars.
Daisy Dawkins is an author returning to an island retreat to be a mentor. She arrives to find out the owner Greg has died. She is devastated. Then she is surprised to find out he has named her his sole heir and CEO of Bregoli Publishing.
Daisy is plagued by ghostly visits. One is even trying to kill her. She has to fight the Board of Directors who want to oust her and take over the business. Some of the ghosts try to help, some not so much.
An interesting book Should have been edited better though. Made it a little hard to follow at times with incorrect words. Would have given 5 stars if it weren't for that.
Within this 58 haunted house series are two stories that go together. I am so glad there was more after the first one! Yay! I actually clapped my hands together at the end of this one. If there's a third.... even better but it could stop here. One must let ones imagination have it's way. So if this is it, I'll still be happy. Yes there are some duds in this series but not these two, some typographical errors but that's it. Otherwise it's a good story that I wouldn't mind being the main character. Enjoy!
Some hauntings can be violent We never know, sometimes, what motivates evil to attack. The author has an insight, perhaps, or maybe simply a gift to tell very good stories. In this book Daisy grows up, struggles with past issues and moves forward with a new perspective. Very well written and thought out. A must read for those who love reading about ghosts. If you like a good and enjoyable haunting mystery, this book could be your next fun read. I did find a few spelling errors. My mother drilled into us that "where is it at" needs a reply of "before the 'at'". Please don't end a sentence with an "at". I feel that authors should not have spelling and grammatical errors in their work. So, overlooking those things, I enjoyed the book. The interaction with the cats was fun.
This is a story about people realizing their full potential and overcoming obstacles and people that stand in their way. The plot was well laid out and characters built very nicely. There were points where the narrative became somewhat monotonous but not to the point of distraction. Overall this was an enjoyable read. A nice break from the dark and terrifying paranormal stories.
I love my ghost stories. I've been reading this series one at a time. Most of them pretty normal stuff. Imagine my surprise when I started reading, and the next thing I knew, the sun was coming up! I found myself hollering go get em girl! Then laughing in delight every time our heroine got one over on the baddies. A paranormal book that touches your heart and makes you hope your own loved ones are close by. I know mine are...but then, I'm a Witch *grins*
A thrilling story that pulls you in from the beginning. It's well written and beautifully described and keeps you turning the pages. The characters are fantastic, captivating and just as intriguing as the story. Warning, you may find this one hard to put down once you start reading.

The author has given us another plot with Daisy, her mentor has died, and she has inherited the estate, and another ghost. Competition wants what she got, and this new ghost has evil ideas, a good plot, I like Daisy and with good narration, that added to the story. Given audio for my voluntary review
Loved. I have always experienced things that had no logical explanation, and learned to keep it to myself so others wouldn't think me crazy. Determination and friends, as well as treating others courageously, will get you to your goals would love to visit this magical place.
I enjoyed this expansion of the Coyote Island and Greg Bregoli storyline. Although the plot twist/conflict was predictable, It wasn’t as well edited as the first novel, and I would have liked to have a little more paranormal activity, this was a great comfort read, as opposed to a thrilling horror story. The main character, Daisy, is lovely and the supporting characters are lovable as well.
Loved loved LOVED the continuation of the previous book. I usually can't stand it when authors fill pages by reiterating what happened a few chapters before, but this time it was well placed ( from previous book) good refresh. Every book in this series keeps getting better and better. ON TO THE NEXT!!!!
Daisy is back at Coyote Island, only just learning she has inherited it and the whole publishing business. That is, if the Board doesn't stop her. Sadly, she doesn't feel Greg or Matilda around. Instead, a new ghost or spectre is following her. Will she manage to save the business? And will the spectre get what it wants?
Totally enthralling with delightful scenes throughout. Love the joy of writing and great relationships in the beautiful setting. Great tale of triumph with focused persistence.
I wasn't sure if I would like this book but as I'm reading each chapter, it gets more intriguing. I couldn't put the book down until I finished reading. Surprise ending!!
There was some editing issues, but it did not deter from the story. As in the first book, the horror was in real life situations, not in the supernatural.
I am so attached to these characters and so in love with the island and I am obsessed with the way this world works! I am so so glad it ended the way it did. I cried like a baby. Thank you so much for the closure 🥰 fantastic books! Such an easy read.
Loved learning about Daisy and all the trouble that came her way, but this story line was so good inputting the different ghosts and writers she got to know! Thank you so much for this wonderful story!!!!
As I read about the Bregoli Estate I fell in love with Alexandria Clarke and will continue following her. Recommend you read Haunted House Mystery book 17 by the same author first to fall in love with the main characters .
