Antipodes #0.5

Antipodes: Crossroads

Rate this book
Driven and focussed, Freyja Jorgensen has her life mapped out – vet school, and a rewarding career. Then one lie derails her plans and sets her on a new path. As an outbreak threatens the planet, she is selected to help form a modern sustainable community with a group of highly skilled young people.

Hiding from her past, Freyja struggles to connect until she meets Cam, with demons of his own. Crossroads is the exciting prequel to the Antipodes series.

The Antipodes series is a unique work of fiction, set in present-day post-apocalyptic Australia. Aimed at new adults who are disillusioned with our world, and concerned for the ecological future of our planet, Antipodes focuses on the values our society lacks–sustainability, inclusion, community and friendship.

T.S. Simons is an award winning Australian-based author of Scottish heritage. Living in the alpine region of Australia, she believes in the values of integrity, sustainability, and community in a world where we place greater value on possessions than people. She enjoys posing philosophical questions that make readers think and reflect on the world we live in.

The Antipodes series addresses the question—if we gave young people the opportunity to start over, would they replicate the mistakes of the past?

She holds Bachelor and Master’s degrees, post-graduate qualifications in governance and management, and is an accredited company director. She is an Australia Reads Ambassador and enjoys reading, traveling, mythology, and snow skiing while attempting to live as sustainably as possible with her partner and children. She is owned by a standard schnauzer, fox red Labrador and three rescue cats who co-manage her household.

The Antipodes series comprises the international award-winning Project Hemisphere, The Space Between, Infinity, Circle of Protection, and Sessrumnir. The 45th Parallel series comprises The 45th Parallel, Orenda, and Bifrost. She is working on the fourth book in this series, Triple Helix, and a prequel to Project Hemisphere - Crossroads.

Ok so I thought I would hate this. But I didn't. Easy to read, and not tropey. NOT a Hunger Games knock off, which is good. A surprise.

This novella provides an alternate intro to Antipodes. I actually read Antipodes first, then went looking for other books by this author and found this. Not as good as Antipodes, but that is mainly due to length.
I love the way this writer writes - it is so easy to read. Even the scientific concepts read easily. There is no going back and re-reading like in some books.
I'm a convert.

I was given this book for an honest review.

It started out a little slow, just the first couple of pages, then quickly caught my interest. I'm ready to jump into the next book; I need to know what happens next!

Prequel

I wasn't aware of this prequel until after reading the full series.
It was really enjoyable this way around, already knowing the characters and going back to the beginning.
Fantastically written as everything else by T S Simons.

This is set in Australia and I found it interesting.
At only 52 pages, It's too short, but it was engaging and well worth the read
Will have to pursue the remaining books!!
