More than 5 stars- The grovel, the character arcs, the steam, the emotions- I loved it all

This book is long- but you know what?! I. DID. NOT. CARE… and I wanted it LONGER. I was sad to see Kill and his baby’s, Violet’s, journey come to an end. The angst, the emotions, the picturesque movie unfolding with words were everything. I loved it all! 👏🏻❤️🥰

This books starts off when Killian is 16, an adolescent, experiencing a tough home life. We get insight on the struggles he had to face when he was a teenager, the responsibilities he was forced to take because he had an irresponsible parent who was in a physically abusive relationship, a home life no kid/teenager should ever experience😞, and we see how his overprotectiveness begins to unfold- everything he does is for the safety of his younger brother.

All of this background information, all of the trauma he experienced and we experience with him, is necessary to read in order to understand the why’s of book 1. Why the lies happen… why he’s so overprotective… why he does what he does… and why he doesn’t regret it.

I love how this book is formatted- the past, the relationship between Killian and Violet unfolding, and then the twist at the end of book 1 and how it all came to be… and most importantly… the aftermath and consequences of it all.

Killian is in danger of losing Violet, which is why he has to GROVEL, … he messed up, big time, and Violet won’t easily forgive him. She’s grown, as a character, and has a solid backbone that was nonexistent before. She’s not the doormat she used to be with Ray. She WILL NOT let any man dictate her life or choices anymore… and Kill knows this… which is why he grovels- and what I admire about him is that he’s willing to do this- because he knows how important Violet’s growth is- and he won’t take that away from her. It’s not just about asking for forgiveness; it’s about compromises, connections, and even consequences for the mistakes made. Can Violet trust Kill anymore?

Her insecurities come up… the lies that revolve their relationship and the past threatens to consume them and break them apart. But you know what? Killian won’t let it happen…

”Because you are tied to me. And I’m not giving up on fixing what I broke. Not ever, Violet. That’s not me trying to scare you or upset you. That’s me letting you know how much I love you, how much I want you. I know we can fix what I broke.”❤️🥺🥰

“Because every minute of every day, all I want is to be with you. All I want is to see you smile. Feel your touch. Be inside you. My favorite fucking place. It’s both a blessing and a curse to feel this much for somebody. I’m afraid I’ve become a little obsessed.”❤️🥺🥰

How can we not love him? He’ll do ANYTHING to protect Violet…

I lean in close and whisper into her ear. “I’d kill for you.”
“I don’t want you to kill for me,” she whispers back.
“But I would.”❤️🥰

And then we get the sweet banter while they’re figuring things out, which not only made me smile, but soothed my soul to the core…

“Call me when you wake up.”
“Okay. Unless you watch me until I wake up and then you’ll know I’m up. Creepy creeper.”
I chuckle. “Good night, beautiful.”
“Good night, Stalky stalker.”😂

And then…

“No dad-bod,” Violet warns, talking to the room instead of me. “Not until we’ve been married at least ten years.”
“Deal,” I say, heart lifting. Ten years. Fuck, yeah. Forever, baby.❤️🥺🥰

When it seems like their relationship is weakened, their chemistry explodes 🥵🔥 and the soul-deep connection they’ve always had becomes all-consuming in such a delicious and steamy way 😅🥵. She can try to resist him, but even her body knows they belong together 😅👏🏻❤️, and Killian takes full advantage of this 😉🤤. He’s always willing to please her, in every way 🔥.

I loooooved this duet so much!!!

My Review

This is the conclusion to that shocking and delicious finale we were treated to from the previous book. Here we get to experience the fallout from Violet discovering just what her new husband has going on down in the basement of their beach house retreat and naturally she’s bloody devastated feeling betrayed and like her whole world is imploding and a lie. Now not knowing what to believe Violet starts to question every aspect of her and Killian's life together going so far as to question if his feelings are even genuine and not some sort of misguided revenge aimed are her ex.

Killian well he knows he messed up in a big way he still doesn’t regret his actions feeling them justified but he is remorseful and also gutted that he has hurt Violet so badly but he would do it again in a heartbeat just next time make sure she doesn’t find out. now though he is just terrified of losing Violet over this and he’s prepared to do whatever he must to convince her of his sincerity and love and hopefully win back her trust.

I could actually feel Killian’s deep regret and utter devotion over Violets distress the last thing he ever wanted but she does need to come to terms with the darker aspects of her husband's character if they can ever move forward except both the light and the dark in him and be willing to love him unconditionally just as he does her.

This was filled with such heart and feeling and full of so much emotion. There was drama and angst heartache and smiles. This author always manages to pull me into the narrative and immerse me entirely in the unfolding drama. Killian and Violet face many trials here events which only make them stronger in the long run. I enjoyed this a whole lot and both Violet and Killian grew so much during the course of this until finally, they are both on the same page together. I Definitely recommend this but be aware it’s not a stand-alone so you do need to read book one as well but it’s so worth it and a great duet.
I voluntary reviewed a copy of Dirty Stack (The Devious games duet #2).

The much anticipated book of Killian and Violets story has finally arrived and it was sensational and so much more than I expected and hoped for.
This couple was off the charts in book 1 and in book 2 we see them go through some very real struggles and moments where I was worried about their relationship but Killian, being the over the top, possessive male that he is, refused to give up Violet. And I am so happy they persevered!
There were some very real cringe moments with Ray, and some pump my fist moments and screamed oh yes because of karma! But this story was so good that it all blended nicely together in true D.D. Prince fashion!
Now I want to hear more about Will, Wes, and Tony

Kill Game (The Devious Games Duet, #1) by D.D. Prince Dirty Stack (The Devious Games Duet, #2) by D.D. Prince
5 Apple Juice Stars

I absolutely loved Kill Game which was the first book in this awesome duet. The ending cliffhanger almost gave me a stroke. I couldn't wait to dive into the second part of the duet and find out what happened.

description

When we met Violet in Kill Game she was damaged, and scared of her own shadow. The damage had been done by her ex. We saw a lot of growth from Violet and she became the star of this book. She was no shrinking Violet ;) . She became fierce, and fiesty, and everything that I love in a heroine. She didn't let Killian get away with ANYTHING! She also became a badass!

description

Killian was dangerous. He had a dark past and struggled with his demons. He was also bent on revenge. Revenge for anyone who had hurt Violet and also revenge for a bet that he was cheated out of by the flip of a coin. That flip of a coin cost him the woman that he loves.

description

There were so many lies, betrayals, and deceit that I was on the edge of my seat the whole time wondering who Violet and Killian could trust. At some points I wondered if they could trust one another.

description

Killian has no remorse for lying to protect Violet. Violet feels like she can't trust him. They both had to learn to trust one another again. They were stronger together!

description
description

There was tons of steam and smexy scenes. This couple's chemistry was off the charts hot!

description

This book was action packed! It had something or everyone and I couldn't put it down. This duet is huge but the story flowed perfectly and it never lagged. Every single word was filled with something relevant to the story. A ton of stuff happens so it needed to be this long. There are twist and turns that you will never see coming. I am so obsessed with these characters that I even messaged the author begging for the side characters that I loved to get their own books! I have no shame and she knows it.

description

Killian isn't "OFFICIALLY" in the mob but he definitely has ties to the underbelly of the crime world. If mobsters, gangsters, or characters who live in the gray are your jam then this is a definite must read. Killian is also possessive and so alpha that my ovaries exploded. This is an autobuy author for me and I have yet to read a word that she has written that I didn't love.

I received an ARC of this book and this is my voluntarily, honest review of it.

‘Dirty Stack’ is the second story of ‘The Devious Games duet’ and the continuing romance story of Killian Coulter and Violet Gates. So you really need to read ‘Kill game’ first before reading this book. If you have read the first book, then you will agree that the writer DD Prince gave us a thrilling and shocking cliffhanger! I must confess that while I had to wait for this second book ‘Dirty Stack’ I wondered how the writer was going to get things right between Killian and Violet. If sweet, kindhearted and broken Violet would be strong enough to accept Killian’s darker parts? If she could forgive him for his lies and manipulations? And how bloodthirsty Killian was for revenge? How far would he go? Would he lose the woman he loved because of it?

‘Dirty Stack’ was a wonderful story, it was so much more than I hoped and dreamed. The story kept me on my toes from the beginning until the end! It began with the fact that the story started in a different way than I expected! Not with the scene of the cliffhanger but with Killian and Will’s childhood. But after reading it, I was very happy that the writer did it this way, it gave me more insight into Killian’s character and where his darker parts came from. And by the time I got to the cliffhanger scene, I looked with different eyes to Killian’s character, with more insight and understanding. Sadly, Violet still had to learn all that in the story but just like me she came to understand Killian and his darker parts better. And Killian showed Violet throughout the story how much he loved her and how much he wanted her trust again.

Killian described it wonderful in this story :

‘She’s stronger because of me and I’m better because of her. She’s the key to happiness for me and I know down to my soul that I’ll protect what we have with my f****ng life’
- DD Prince, Dirty Stack

And this was very true, where in the first story Violet was more insecure and fearful, in this story she’s more sassy, more confident and stronger. She stood up to Killian’s alpha ways and Killian showed us that an alpha man can listen to his woman and learn how to compromise (in an alpha way). I loved that the writer gave us a view on their future through epilogues. The story was again told in both POV’s and the secondary character were interesting too (the good and the bad ones) because there was still the situation with Ray and there was also a new threat that was very dangerous. So Killian not only had to solve his relationship problems, but he also had to protect Violet against known and unknown danger!

This story really took me on an adventure that I never expected. I’m so happy that the writer decided to make a duet of this story. It was really a wonderful story about love and how with the right person you can become a better version of yourself.

I was anxiously waiting for this book because Ms. Prince left me with a cliffhanger Naughty! Naughty!

I had my questions answered about the ending of book one. So much happens in this book for and to Killian and Violet. Schemes, deception, lies and betrayal follow our main characters. The biggest success for me was watching how strong Violet became to survive in Killian's world. Killian, in turn needed to learn trust and openness are essential for their relationship to exist. I loved this book. I was relieved there is a HEA. I hope Killian's brother Will will get his own book and HEA.

This book is the second in a duet. You really need to read Kill Game before reading Dirty Stack or you will not get the complete story. This book is awesome, fabulous, a compelling read and well worth it. Killian is gorgeous, protective and dark, Violet, well she surprised me with the way she acted as the story went on. It is difficult to say anything more about the story without spoiling it so I’m going to contain myself and give nothing away. Kill Game ended on a cliffhanger and I had an idea of where the story might go and in some ways I was right but it was so much more than that. The story twisted and turned, went down an alley and up a cliff. We met some familiar characters and I liked the potential for spin offs, Wes, Tony, Willie, the detective to name a few. Loved Violet’s family. This is a book from the Dominator Stable so there was lots of dark, Killian is vindictive and also lots and lots of very hot hot sex. So I urge you to read it if you have read Kill Game or get them both if not. A definite must read for DD Prince fans. Well done DeeDee.

I love a book that has me all up in my feels and is unforgettable. I love to be dragged into a world that I would run screaming from in real life. I love big and dramatic problems and shuffling through all the ways to find a solution.

✔️on all the feels... came in angry from book 1, then sad for childhood trauma, hot and bothered, angry again, sad some more, frustrated, angry and on and on
✔️dragged into an alternate world- this really punched those buttons and it's too hard to say why without giving away big plot spoilers.... read it and find out.
✔️there was a big betrayal in book 1 and continues into book 2. The twists and turns to find a solution kept me on the edge of my seat.

This author can develop characters in such a way that they feel real. Violet went from a broken and unsure girl to a much stronger woman. Did she make some decisions that I would never have made? Yes, but that's the joy of fiction. I fell completely in love with Killian in book 1 until the end, when I swear I felt as betrayed as Violet. I was on pins and needles waiting to see if he redeemed himself in book 2. He did for Violet. How much betrayal is too much? That's up to every individual to decide. My grudge game is strong so I'm going to end my review on a cliffy........

You must read book 1 *Kill Game * before diving into this much anticipated book 2 *Dirty Stack* Get ready for all the feels.

There is just one word for this book. Well for this duet, really. That word is WOW!

This duet has shot up to the top of my favourites by DD. Which says a lot as everything she writes is pure gold. But this book/duet is platinum. Absolutely incredible.

Violet is my favourite heroin written by DD. She is absolutely steadfast and so strong. I admire her on a deep level and if she were real I would want to both hug her and high five her for being an utter legend. The amount that this girl had been through and was still standing is astonishing. The amount she grows through the books is enormous. She is such an icon to those who have been through similar situations. Such power to DD for writing such a strong female lead.

Killian is just. I don’t even think there is a word for it. Just more sounds of hnnnnngh and oofe! The amount of depth to this man is astounding. You want to jump his bones but also at the same time you wouldn’t want to anger him then meet him in a dark ally if you get my drift. The fact that he has come through as strong as he is, is also incredible.

Together, when they’re really together, they are a force to be reckoned with.

That’s why I always love what DD writes. There’s more ups and downs than a rollercoaster but she also can destroy your heart strings with the immense onslaught of feelings that she flings at you.

SUCH a good read! SO incredible! Would absolutely recommend.

Well done DD!

I can always count on this author to give me a "girthy" book. I'm not sure she could write a small book if she tried and I am quite okay with that because it means I get even more of her delicious words and spellbinding characters.

The first book ended on a whopper of a cliffhanger. It was a twist that I didn't see coming. I expected this book to start right at that moment. Instead, it started with backstory of Killian. I was a little confused by that at first but as the story progressed and caught back up to that pivotal moment, it all made sense.

This story is a journey. Not only in regards to Kill and Violet and their relationship but also into getting to the root of the mystery of all that was Ray and what that entailed. I wasn't expecting the tie in at the end of how it all came together but it was a nice surprise. And that ending, and having it tie-in, in a round about way, to Dario and the message of his story? It was perfect.

There were a few areas that I did wish was fleshed out or I felt didn't really enhance the story (or this might have just been me wishing the focus stayed on Vi and Kill more) but for the most part, this was a perfect book. It is what I come to expect from this author. The steamy times were HOT, as always, and it just was a fantastic conclusion to this duet.

I have been a fan of this author since the first book I read of hers. Now, 20 some books later, I'm still one of her biggest fans. I don't know what she had in store for her readers next, but I'm sure whatever it is, it WILK be great.

Fabulous!

Story: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Trope: (kinda) second chance
Angst: 😱😱😱😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Such a fantastic conclusion to the duet! So many things I loved about this, but a couple of things stood out. Lots of books give lip service to heroines finding their voice and becoming stronger, but I have never read a character like Violet, where its almost a tangible action. It happens incrementally, over time, until she's the kick butt character she was meant to be at the end ❤❤. I also loved the length and intensity of Killian's grovel, lol. I think DD did a fantastic job of conveying Violets reasoning and an equally impressive job of why a man like Killian would go so far for her. Just a fantastic read - Killian is definitely grade A BBF material and Violet his perfect match!

Holy Hell!!!!

I would give this more than 5 stars if I could, girl you did it again (on knees praising)

I was so in shock after reading the first book that I was so entrenched in and then that cliff hanger (still not happy about) it killed me to stop the story there and wait and wait and wait....

But OMG the wait is over and I devoured this book, I was just as captured by this as the second and I just kept reading and reading, holy hell seriously I'm like how much more can happen!!!!!

I'm devastated that their story has come to an end but I love all the character cross overs and I'm hoping we get some more hot alpha mafia male books

I don’t even know where to start with this review. There is so many many many amazing parts to this story. I love Killian’s protectiveness for Violet. I started this book at about 8 pm on a Wednesday night and stayed up until nearly 2:30 reading didn’t want to go to sleep even though I had to get up for work. That’s how much I was enjoying what was going on. Its amazing to see how much Violet grows and strengthens throughout this book. Now I’m curious what is happening with a few side characters. Hopefully Ms DD will share their stories with us too.

Another absolute blinder by DD Prince. This book goes to some very dark places and touches on some sensitive subjects but it is handled with care and compassion and is a really empowering story. Killian is knicker meltingly gorgeous inside and out and Violet is a heroine you can totally get behind. Loved every second of this story and of course seeing and hearing from a few old favourites as DD is the queen of weaving stories 👌👌👌

Oh my goodness I absolutely loved this series. Dirty stack was a worthy follow up to the killer cliffhanger from Kill Game. My favorite part is the character development of Violet. She goes form a shell of a woman to a woman who fights for what she wants. The protective alpha of the story Killian is swoon worthy too. This is a big book and really enjoyed how the author took the time to develop the relationship and didn’t just gloss over the details.

Violet comes into her own in Dirty Stack and once she finds her inner power, she does not back down! Killian is battling his own demons, while trying to do what he thinks is right by Violet. Meanwhile, their tumultuous love story and the shady characters that surround it is absolutely addictive. I read well into the night and did not want to put it down. The Devious Games Duet is at the top of my list! A well-written, meaty, wild ride that, as a reader, I got to sink my teeth into!

Ok whew! That was a lot but in the best of ways. For a second there I didn’t think we were going to make it but Killian didn’t stop! He wouldn’t give violet up and he made her see him. Everything about this book is perfect. Kill messes up big time (not cheating) and Violet makes him WORK for it. I love Violet, she's probably one of my favorite female characters ever. I also wouldn't mind a Killian of my own. So much happens in this book and it is a page turner. I have to try and keep this short so I don't give any spoilers because man so much good stuff to say. The first one I rated 4 stars because it was a decent plot. This one went kinda off the rails.

SPOILERS AHEAD.

I was all for the main dude until he locked violets ex in his basement and torturing him. I was thrown off by that because I would expect it in a mafia or mc club romance, but this guy wasn’t established as a part of either of those. A large portion of the book is violet being mad at him for lying to her and torturing her ex (as she should be). He just got too controlling. Anyway I especially didn’t understand the end when he murdered the ex. That was so unnecessary and also the worst choice they could’ve made for the last page of the book.

Dirty Stack is the epic conclusion in the Devious Games duet.

We left off on quite a cliffhanger, where Violet finds out that her new husband has been hiding something major from her.

With secrets and lies threatening to tear them apart, Killian tries to convince his wife that everything he feels for her is real, yet Violet has no idea what to believe, and they hang on a precipice; especially as Killian has no remorse over what he's done, apart from his actions hurting Violet.

I don't want to go into too much detail, as this duet is full of action and twists and turns that are better experienced blind, in my opinion. But I will say that we've seen Violet grow throughout the books and in Dirty Stack I loved that she didn't just do whatever Killian wanted. She trusted herself and fought for herself. She's grown so strong, admittedly, thanks to Killian, but she becomes such a strong heroine, and the book is better for it.

Killian, meanwhile, definitely has a dark side, and the people he associates with means he lives in the grey areas of life. I must admit that I was shocked by his actions at the end of book 1, and I was a little unsure how I felt about him at that point. However, the author starts book 2 in the perfect way, showing us Killian's life as a young boy. I definitely needed to see that in order to be able to sympathise with him and understand his actions. It really helped me get into his mindset, and it was the perfect tool from D.D. Prince.

Dirty Stack is a long book, but it needs to be as it's action-packed. There are also some incredible steamy scenes, as well as so many different emotions experienced throughout, it certainly is a very enjoyable rollercoaster ride for the reader!

I highly recommend Dirty Stack, but be aware, you must read book 1 first as this is the conclusion of a duet.

Five stars!

Don't know how it happened, but never in my mind I thought I will give 2 stars to D.D.'s book. something in this series didn't sit well with me. Not much of a plot in book one, and when I thought that book 2 will get better all the heroine kept saying is that she is broken and I wanted to slap her. Never felt like that. I will try to reread it in another time again
