Tis the season to lie to your parents... No? Just Lark Wellington? Well, it seems like the best idea Lark could come up with when his holiday-loving parents surprise him with a holly jolly visit he actively tried to avoid. The lie? He's engaged to his best female friend, Da’Nika Martin - after all she's the only person willing to go in on the crazy, last-minute scheme. And now that we're talking about the snowflake white lie? It just may cost him a lot more than coal in his stocking if he isn't careful...
Sleigh Bride is a short, sweet, laugh-out-loud romantic comedy that's jam packed with all new characters, all the cheer, and all the Christmas cookies you need to put a smile on your face this holiday season!
Quick holiday friends to lovers romance. What started out as a fake relationship grew into something so much more. Loved Lark and Da’Nika. First book by this author but it won’t be my last.
Best friends, fake romance, holiday-themed novella!!
Rating 4.5 stars
Why is it that family members always feel the need to encourage a single member to get married, especially at holiday time? Poor Lark feels the need to lie to his parents that he has a girlfriend when they visit him for the holidays. He enlists his best friend Da'Nika to play his girlfriend.
Da'Nika and Lark have real chemistry while reading you understand why they are best friends. But can these two friends who are attracted to each other but not acknowledging it continue that way or will the real feelings come out to play? Sleigh Bride is a sweet holiday novella. I also loved the epilogue at the end.
This was my first Xavier Neal book, I heard about her but never had the chance to read her work. This introduction has sparked my interest to read more of her books.

Usually I don't enjoy friends to lovers romance, but this... Sleigh Bride by Xavier Neal was perfect.
Lark and Da'Nika are best friends. They have so many things in common, they are perfect togheter. Neither of them wants to spoil and break the friendship relationship they have between them. Suddenly, Larks parents are home for Christmas, and to escape their questions and judgment about not having a girl, getting married and start a family, Lark lies that Da'Nika is his fiance. It's the lie working? Are their feelings for each other changing and growing in something more then friendship?

Sleigh Bride is a lighthearted, merry read full of Christmas spirit. If you're looking for a novella length friends-to-lovers romance, this is a fun sleigh ride that'll touch your heart.
📖 The plot is fun and moves quickly. Being an 81 page novella, you get more character development than I would've expected. The friends-to-lovers fake engagement is fun and lighthearted while also being a beautiful love story.
Reading this made me very interested in the world it's a part of (Mistletoe Montana) - which seems to be a small town that's dedicated to Christmas. 🎄
📚 If you liked: His For Christmas (Skye Warren), Austin's Christmas Shortcake (Dani René) or Santa's Gifts (Beatrice Brae) then I think you would enjoy this.
Thank you to @authorxavierneal and @ds_promotions1 for the opportunity to read this eARC. All opinions expressed are my own.
Between his business, his family and his best friend Da’Nika Lark’s life is full and he isn’t looking for love despite what his parents believe. When they unexpectedly show up for Christmas expecting to meet the fiancé he doesn’t have he bribes his best friend with coffee to pretend that they are a couple.
When Da’Nika agreed to help she didn’t realize how much she would enjoy celebrating the holidays with Lark and his family or how much she wanted it to be real.
This is a sweet and sexy story about love, family and the magic of Christmas.
I was given this book in turn for an honest review.
If you are looking for a sweet, short, romantic, Christmas read, then look no further than Sleigh Bride by Xavier Neal, it ticks all these boxes and MORE! If anything, it will leave you screaming for more. Once you meet Lark, Da’Nika, their family and friends, you will not want the story to end! They are all so loveable, full of festive cheer, support and cute, charming, fun moments.
This story is my first Christmas read of 2020, and the perfect start to December, a month I try to do all things Christmassy, including my reading genre. This has really got me in a fun, festive, loving mood, filling my heart with so much love and festive cheer. I loved where this story is set, I loved the Christmas themed clothes, food, everything, I loved everything about it.
This is definitely a Christmas story I will read, again and again, and I recommend you read it too, you will NOT be disappointed!
Christmas Romance, with fun, laughter and a lot of festive cheer.
This is the perfect Christmas story. Lark and Da'Nika are best friends who pretend to be engaged. Of course neither of them has to pretend when it really comes down to it. On top of their cute romance story is the setting. They live in a town that is dedicated to Christmas year round. Great setting that just enhanced the story. Wonderful read!
This was a short book and some things were good but everything felt rushed so I didn’t enjoyed it much. I always enjoy fake dating books so that part of the book was nice but everything after that happened too fast and I wanted more.
ARC kindly provided by author, in exchange for an honest review.
Mistletoe, Montana has to be about the coolest place ever! I love the Wellington family, too. They enjoy each other and love hard. Lark and Da'Nika finally see the light. This is a fun, quick must read!
This had all the makings of a small town friends to lovers holiday novella. The two best friends who end up in a fake relationship after Lark's parents show up for the holidays unexpectedly. Da'Nika happens to be next to him when they show up, and rather than dealing with the why are you single questions he says he is in a relationship with her.
There were a lot of moments of a sweet home town that does all the heart warming holiday affairs. The parents seemed really nice, and the two friends had some great chemistry. My only dislike on this one was that when the two finally get together it was so rushed. Other than some grunting and such they didn't talk the whole time. While it might come across as passionate, it felt very unrealistic to a couple that supposedly had feelings for each other for awhile. Beside the talking it didn't seem like any care was given to each other during or after.
Lark does end up exposed as faking the relationship and a grand gesture to get Da'Nika back and get his happily ever after.
I received an ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
Plot: Lark and Da'Nika are friends, the best. But Lark is tired of his parents asking about his love life, so he gets Da'Nika to pretend to be his fiance when they come to visit him. But the ruse feels good; maybe they could be something more than friends?
Commentary: Cute friends to lovers story. The one thing I wasn't sure about was how mad his Keebler elf parents were when they found out he was lying. It felt a little much. I get it - nobody likes to be lied to, especially by your children, no matter their age. But they seemed like they were on the verge of grounding him and sending him to his room. Still, I liked the love story and the fact that there was no real angst, just payoff.
I love a series by different authors that inner connect with one another. The series is set in Mistletoe, Montana and all that goes along with a town associated with Christmas. In this story we get Lark and Da’Nika as the MC. Lark somehow convinces his best friend, Da’Nika to play his fake fiancé to get his parents off of his back. What could possibly go wrong?! Da’Nika being the nice friend that she is agrees. They both have feelings for each other but never acted on it. Can this be a way for them to get together? What will his parents think when they find out it’s just a sham?
Tis the season ... For multiple tropes.. Friends to lovers.. Holiday romance.. Fake engagement.. Romantic Comedy.. It has it all.
I just love a good friends to lovers romcom. Lark decided it would be a good idea to fake an engagement to the only person willing to go along with his crazy antics.. his best friend Da'Nika. I mean he didn't expect to fall in love with her but life happens right?.
This is a short sweet hilarious treat to soothe your soul and give you a little Christmas spirit. Their journey is pretty fast paced and lacking any unwelcoming unnecessary drama. Both characters come to terms pretty swiftly and don't fight their feelings for the most part which I LOVED!!. They had undeniable chemistry that only seemed to burn brighter the harder they played fake to-be-weds and it created delicious tension between them that I was living for.
From crazy hilarious shenanigans and family interventions to sweet romancing and Christmas joy this short story sure does pack a punch in the best ways. It's well rounded with great character and lots of all the good feels. What's not to like?.
Loved this novella so much. The chemistry coming off Lark and Da'Nika is apparent at the very beginning and just skyrockets by the end. This is a super cute story (especially with Lark's parents) and a fun read. I highly recommend this!!
Lark & Da'Nika are the perfect couple. I loved that their romance began with a true friendship. They really understood each other and when Lark needed help, Da'Nika was there even if it was to lie. In this festive, sexy, comedy readers will find out what happens when a lie becomes the truth!!
This was a very cute story of finding true love when you least expect it. Lark and DaNika pretended to be in love only to find out they weren't pretending. It took a trip from Lark's parents for them to see what's before their eyes.
Short sweet story about a guy who is pretending to be engaged to his best friend for his mom and dad sake. The truth is they are secretly in love with each other.
Love a friends-t0-lovers and this one was done so well! Their shared humor and banter made their relationship come alive and had you rooting for them from the first page to see that they were meant to be together. And the Keebler parents! Lol.
Have some Holly Jolly fun Mistletoe Montana style with a Ho Ho here and a Ho Ho Ho there, everywhere a Christmas show...
Fun times in the land of eternal Christmas, aka Mistletoe. A fake fiancée situation and a naughty, naughty night puts Lark and Da'Nika on Santa's watch list.
Grab a cup of egg nog or some hot cocoa and enjoy this holiday treat!
I really enjoyed Lark and Da’Nika. Perfect read for the holidays. I would love to live in a year round Christmas themed town where everyone knows each other. Overall a satisfying fake fiancé experience!! #anotherone
Christmas Miracles is what everyone needs!! Lark and Da’Nika have been best friends for a while now, and Lark needs a really big favor from her. Will this friendship turn into sugar and spice and everything nice, or will their hearts be tuned into a lump of coal. Read this sweet little Novella and find out!!
This Novella is perfect for an airplane trip, waiting for the doctor to see you, or even waiting for your kids practice to get over with. It’s fun, quick, and a little steamy!!
"They just opened their big mouths wide, moved their tongues to the best of their ability, and tasted Christmas all on their own"
Sleigh Bride is a cute friends to lovers fake relationship that will get you into the holiday spirit.
Lark and Da’Nika have been friends since she moved to Mistletoe, Montana and spend a lot of time together. After he lies to his parents regarding his relationship status to get out of going to Florida for Christmas, his parents surprise him and he surprises Da’Nika by telling his parents she is his fiancé.
Lark and Da’Nika were funny how they tried to fight their actual attraction to each other while pretending to be together. The build of their relationship was perfect even though this was a novella it did not feel rushed. I loved the small town of Mistletoe, the holiday spirit and the bond of family. Another great addition to Xavier Neal’s publication list.

Published: December 17, 2020 Kindle Edition I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Xavier Neal is quite an established author, with over fifty published works under her belt. She enjoys jumping from romance sub-genre to sub-genre. She is an avid reader, a diehard hockey fan, and a badass wife to her lumberjack hubby.
“Isn’t it obvious?”
Lark is a workaholic trying to build his shop into a thriving success. He is also dedicated to his family. His parents, his brother, and his nephew hold such a special place in his heart. So does his best friend, Da’Nika; neither of them knows that yet. What starts as a pretend holiday romance quickly becomes the real deal. Now, Lark and Da’Nika need to admit the truth to themselves.
This is a sweet friendship turned romantic relationship story. What starts as a pretend relationship to prevent the senate family's questions over Christmas dinner becomes a much bigger deal when Lark realizes he has romantic feelings toward Da’Nika.
Da’Nika realizes she is in love with her best friend and pretending to be engaged to her best friend. But more than that, she finds she loves his family. Their relationship with each other, the good-natured teasing. The holiday traditions, them as people. Suddenly she isn’t comfortable with pretending to be something she isn’t.
I enjoyed the way this story unfolded. I liked that Lark and Da’Nika realized their feelings quickly and that there wasn’t a lot of back and forth, and struggled to make it happen. Once they realized they had real feelings for each other, they went after what they wanted.
This was a quick read, but the story was very filled out. The plot was well developed, it didn’t have any unnecessary strife or drama, and the characters were all memorable. This is my first Xavier Neal book, but I am a fan! Bold characters, decisive plot, and a lot of charm.
