Broken Mind

Ruby…
I was meant for bigger things in this life than being a bartender in small town Indiana. I certainly never thought my military career would be cut short. But the very people who were supposed to train me, help mold me into the soldier I was meant to be, took everything from me. I lost my mind and forgot who I was for a while. I ran as fast and as far as I could, trying to find something, anything, that would make me whole again. I still haven’t found it.

Liam…
I know who I am and what I want. My position as the Vice President of the Broken Rebel Brotherhood is the culmination of my entire life and what I was meant for from the moment I was born. It’s everything. Or it used to be. A series of repeated one night stands with the new bartender have awakened something in me that I didn’t know was there. But she’s built walls that I have no idea how to break through.

When a threat emerges and she’s forced to reveal her secrets, I realize there’s nothing that can stop me from doing whatever it takes to be the one thing she needs: a hero.

Raw & Emotional

This author didn’t pull any punches bringing disturbing reality to the forefront in this book. All Ruby wanted to do was follow in her father and Uncle Dusty’s footsteps and join the military. She had no idea that after joining the Army that she would be used, discarded and broken. Now all she had was her beloved dead uncle’s bar that he left her.

Liam was friends with Dusty and had taken on the responsibility to keep the bar up and running until Ruby was out of the service and was ready to take it over. Ruby and Liam were bed buddies only because that is all that Ruby would allow for them. I really loved the storyline between these two. It was Liam who stood by the woman he loved while she dealt with the aftermath of what had happened to her. He was just glad that she was finally letting him in.

There is so very much more to this story that will have you reeling. The author did an amazing job telling this story. I can’t wait to see what comes next in Broken Rebel Brotherhood MC series.

Broken Mind is very emotional and consuming. It's a beautifully written story of healing and acceptance. I was furious FOR Ruby with all that she endured and furious AT her for being such a b*t^h, when really, she has every  right to be. Ruby's stint in the Military left her haunted and broken thanks to her superior, Sgt. Douglas Jensen, and a system that failed her. Her Uncle Dusty left her a bar when he passed and that's where she meets Liam. He's a great guy, but she doesn't know how to accept what he's offering. When she gets a call from Eileen Dorsey her past comes flooding back and when the dust settles this Sgt. Jensen won't have a clue as to what hit him. These women are survivors, they're FIERCE and they're fed up. S*i^ is about to get good. These women and the BRB MC won't stop until the job is done.

The third book in the series brings Ruby and Liam's story. The author does a wonderful job bringing all the feels in this emotional read. Her characters are strong and her scenes are painted in vivid detail. Their chemistry is strong and sparks fly but she's fighting it .. and he's determined. I loved reading their story and would highly recommend this book.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.

This book starts out with a emotional taboo subject.

Ruby won’t let anyone get close to her because of a traumatic past. Liam wants more than just a occasional hook up from Ruby but she keeps pushing him away. He’s definitely not one to give up.

This whole story is a roller coaster of ups and downs.
Revenge is sweet!! I love this third book in this unconventional MC series.

“Ruby, honey,” Sadie says. “When are you going to get that you’re not alone, you’re not responsible for this? You’re family and that makes it our fight. We stand with family.”

Broken Mind is the third book in Broken Rebel Brotherhood Next Generation series and a spin-off of Andi’s previous series Broken Rebel Brotherhood. It can be read as a standalone but you won’t regret picking up the previous two books where you will meet our hero and heroine and get more of their background. It was written in the first person, dual POV. This was completely compelling, raw, engaging, heartbreaking story which I devoured in one sitting. The characters are complex, vulnerable but resilient and fierce; the plot is strong with twists and turns that will keep you guessing the whole time. It was enjoyable, steamy, suspenseful, heartfelt and heartbreaking read with dark storytelling and brilliantly written plot twist(s).

Liam and Ruby won me over from the moment they met. From the moment they met there was this push-pull, fiery connection and attraction. Separately they are beautiful mess, together they are perfectly imperfect. Their love story is not perfect. It’s layered, fast paced, real, raw and emotional. It was flirty, fun, touching, heartbreaking, healing and heartwarming. I loved the sexy, steamy scenes between Liam and Ruby, the light, passionate moments between them, conversations filled with banter, the way they crave each other. They are both such strong, stubborn and vulnerable characters. Their love becomes stronger each day. With how the story unfolds they need to lean and trust each other. They changed each other by teaching how to love and trust again. I loved Liam and his patience, unwavering love and devotion to Ruby. He wanted to be her everything: the person she can rely on, her knight in shining armor, her protector, her lover and her friend. My heart hurt for Ruby, her past and trust issues. She wanted to take a chance on them but fear of being hurt and trusting the wrong person stopped her. They were both battling with attraction which also included self-doubt/worth. Love how Andi portrayed their gradual change, development and feelings which grew the more they were spending time together.

It was fast paced, full of twists and turns with such a beautiful love story that had everything I love: vulnerable, jaded, strong and fierce heroine, protective, vulnerable hero, brotherhood and loyalty of MC members, plenty of danger / thirst for revenge and healing love. THE. EPILOGUE. WAS. EVERYTHING. I can’t wait for Finn and Isabelle’s book.

Ruby thought she had left the terror and pain and shame behind her when she left Fort Bliss, discharged from the Army before she was ready. Her experience had been traumatic, and her abuser had finally ruined her mentally and physically. Though the Army wouldn’t recognize that she was even assaulted. The MPs hadn’t helpe her, they believed her rapist. Now all that remained of Ruby was a broken shell that had been tossed to the side when her usefulness had ended. All she had was a letter from her late uncle and a bar he had left to her in Indiana, and the name of a good man who had taken care of it while she had been enlisted.

Liam Strong had been surprised when Dusty had written him a letter. He was doubly surprised when he asked him to take care of his bar for his niece who was still on active duty in the Army and unable to run it while she was still in Fort Bliss. Dusty also left him some cryptic words about her needing help. When he met her for the first time, sparks flew. It was instant attraction, but Ruby wouldn’t let anyone close, not even Liam. It had been three years, and he was at the end of his rope, ready to call them over and nurse his broken heart.

Then out of the blue Ruby received a phone call that sparked the past terror and pain anew. She didn’t want to acknowledge the past, she had tried to put it away, but Ruby could not allow her past to happen to anyother person. He had to be stopped. Only by telling the Broken Rebel Brotherhood what had happened would Ruby gain the strength to speak up and finally take a stand.

Like the other books in this series, Broken Mind deals with the affects of abuse, assault, and justice for those who have been hurt. It also deals with healing and the need for family and friends who will support a person in those situations. This is not a story for the faint of heart, and I definitely recommend extra tissues while you read it. Liam and Ruby had to fight for what they wanted. It didn’t come easy, but when it did, it was beautiful.

Liam Strong is a nerd, but a sexy one. His mother and father are founding members of the Broken Rebel Brotherhood and both served their country. Liam has his doubts about his position in the brotherhood because he didn’t serve, but his position has its own merits. He holds two college degrees and knows his way around a computer. When he meets the beautiful niece of Dusty, the owner of Dusty’s Bar, where the brotherhood hangs out all the time, his whole world changes.

Ruby Banks is an only child. Her dream has always been to be in the U. S. Army, just like her father and uncle were before her. Even though her parents try to convince her otherwise, she joins and makes it the training for weaponry. She’s worked hard in basic and special training only to get to Fort Bliss and have her dreams crushed and career taken from her, creating a fight of her life.

This story has all the feels. It’s tragic, twisted, sexy, and entertaining at times. The fight that Ruby has to endure is not one for the faint of heart, but with the BRB behind her and Liam beside her she finds the strength within herself to proceed with the fight and win the battle. All of the stories in BRB and BRB Next Generation are tragic, but the brotherhood is loyal, strong and a family and always have each other’s backs, even if they do fight like family at times. They will always protect those that can’t protect themselves as well as each other. I love the characters in these books, and I am looking forward to Broken Loyalty. Although, I hate to see the series end because the characters are so great. I give this story a 5-star review and suggest that if you haven’t read the Broken Rebel Brotherhood or Broken Rebel Brotherhood: Next Generation that you should. I love Andi Rhodes books and characters; they always leave a lasting impression.

This was a great story and even though Broken Mind is a work of fiction and is not based on any real person or event, I can well imagine this really happens to women in the military.

Ruby was raped several times by her supervisor during her time in the army. She has brought the case to the MP but they have never investigated and asked her supervisor about his side of the story. He, of course, denied and accused her of emotional, perhaps even psychological, problems. Since it has always been Ruby's dream to serve her country, she undergoes the assault on her physically every time and eventually goes under it mentally. After 5 years she leaves the army. Burned out, lost, broken.

She tries to give meaning to her life again and takes over the bar from her deceased uncle. There she meets Liam, the VP of the Broken Rebel Brotherhood, a group of motorcyclists. She has regularly invited him in for a night full of sex. Her rule is that he leaves when they are done without asking questions.
After 3 years, Liam doesn't want to leave, he wants more! It's just not easy to convince Ruby. Until her past knocks at the door in the form of 21-year-old Private Eileen Dorsey. She now works under the man who raped Ruby for years and the same happens to her. She wants to end this captain's career.

What follows is an exciting story that gives a glimpse of how the powerful machinery of a man's world works that fears change and does not give women equal rights. Even gives space to men who abuse their position.

Good book that focuses on the problems that may exist in the US Army.
Strong female characters.
I loved the letters left bij Uncle Dusty

Highly recommended

This is the 3rd book in this phenomenal series and is Liam and Ruby’s story. Ruby is complex and vulnerable, and she always wanted to follow in her dad and uncles’ footsteps and join the military, which did not pan out the way she thought it would, instead she has been left broken, used, and discarded, and the only thing she has left is a bar which her uncle left her when he passed. Liam is the grumpy VP of the Broken Rebel Brotherhood, with a huge heart, and he was great friends with Ruby’s uncle, who entrusted him to keep the bar running while she was in the military. Ruby’s tough past has left her with trust issues, and from the moment she meets Liam the sparks fly, and the chemistry between them is explosive and undeniable. Liam wants more that just a casual hook up with Ruby, but she keeps pushing him away. Liam and Ruby are a perfect compliment for each other, but will he be able to knock down the walls she has firmly surrounded her heart with? This is a beautifully written story which is raw, gritty, and dark and an emotional roller coaster, which is fast paced, and with off the chart’s chemistry, as well as having witty and flirty banter, secrets, suspense, danger, intrigue, passion, loyalty, friendships, brotherhood, vengeance, heartbreak, and love. I was totally captivated throughout this heartwrenching and heartfelt story, and I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I always highly recommend.

Triggers, mentions or rape & imprisonment.
Very emotional, we do get to see Tilliy and Lila a few times. Isaiah will be in most of the story and Cooper will be around here and there. Even Liam’s parents will have some time, especially his mom where Ruby is concerned, sharing of their pasts. It could be read as a stand alone since it does happen after book 2 but there’s no mention of any of the events from that story to pass onto this one (that I remember anyways). Great story, both POVs with one from the villain.

Liam has met his match, but Ruby will need a push to be the women she was met to be.
Ruby suffered at the hand of her Commanding Officer a Sargent Jensen, when she was station at and Army base. Not the usual hazing either but he raped her for years, threatening anyone in her life if she talked. Ruby still suffered after he was kicked out (Jensen’s doing) and for 3 years she was broken, owning her Uncle’s Bar, Dustys with the only man she semi trust Liam, V.P. of BRB. But that push I mentioned will come from 2 people and one carry’s her scars.
Liam felt like the black sheep in the club since he’s the only one who didn’t serve in the military but when to college and got the degrees, but he doesn’t know even computer hacking is a war in its self to help dig into peoples dirty secrets. Ruby was his light even though he was the booty call, this man doesn’t do hook-ups but Ruby might have started out as one but over the years this man’s heart latched onto that woman.

This is the first book I have read by this author and I was blown away.. I cried and laughed and cried some more. The topics written about in this book are horrible, nonetheless, they happen. I love that the author took the time and gave respect to the topic of rape. This being done within the military with an added sting of the abuse of rank and the ability to ruin someone’s career makes it that much worse.

Dusty who is Ruby’s Uncle left his bar to her when he passes away. However Ruby still being in the Army can’t take it over until she’s out. Her uncle leave Liam to run the bar until she gets out. Dusty leave Liam a letter after he passes and gives him some words or wisdom when it comes to his niece. Liam is smitten with Ruby from the get go but she only wants a no stings attached relationship. Liam gets Ruby to finally lower her walls and let him help her heal and learn to trust again. Along the way Ruby learns that Liam and the BRB are the type of family she wished for in the Army. Will Liam get the girl or is her mind to broken? Will she get the justices that she is entitled to?

Holy rollercoaster of emotions! This book is so good and has all the feelings tied into one! I do recommend reading the first two before though so you understand the club more!

All Ruby ever wanted to do was be in the military. Even her parents couldn't persuade her to do something else. However, once she is stationed at her base, its nothing like she thought it was going to be. Years later she is discharged, broken and scarred and not sure what to do. Until she heads to Indiana to claim the bar her late Uncle left her.

Liam is the VP of the Broken Rebel Brotherhood, and even though he is loved and accepted by the family, he feels like an outsider for not having served in the military. However, when a long time friend of the club asks him for his help, he gives it willingly. He keeps a bar going on the wishes of a dead man, until Ruby shows up to claim it.

The spark between these two is incredible. Ruby is so scared to let anyone in, and all Liam wants is to claim her. This is a good book!

All Ruby wanted to do was to reach her dreams of a career in the Army, and she's worked hard to get there. Unfortunately, something bad happened to where she could no longer have that dream, and it broke her. Luckily her uncle left her his bar when he passed and it put her in the path of Liam, and his MC which was the best thing that could have happened. Of course Ruby didn't see it that way for a cool minute, and despite the hook ups with Liam, she still held him at arm's length until he couldn't take it anymore. Just as things are about to really hit rock bottom with him, someone reaches out to her for help, so this time, Ruby will need help from the club & Liam is the club, which means she's going to have to come clean with everything, and maybe just maybe, she'll finally be able to let Liam love her like he wants to. However, can he keep her safe for that to happen?! You'll have to hit those one click buttons to find out! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

This is the third book in this series by this author and another amazing read from the start. This story follows the characters Liam and Ruby, these two characters are just so well written and well developed. This is an addictive story and you find yourself being unable to put this book down till you get to the last page. This story is fast paced, gripping and suspenseful. This is a must read series, even thought these books can be read as stand alone reads they are much more enjoyable being read as a series.

Listen carefully, you will need a box of tissues for this heartbreaking story of violence against women and the men of the Brotherhood who go after these vile men. Ruby’s story really got to me, not because it happened to me, but because of the hurt she endured trying to do something she loved. Andi can definitely write emotional stories. I love the principles of the men of the Brotherhood and Liam is such a strong person who does not give up easily. The family elements really come through in this story. If only we as a human race would feel this way. As always, I loved this story. Do yourself a favor and read Andi’s stories, all of them. Angst and love is always on the menu.

Poor Ruby, her experiences in the military really left her with some heavy scars—not at all what she was expecting. Now as she heads to claim the bar her uncle left her, she is a bit adrift, and it really shows in how Andi phrases things in the book. My heart really went out to her. When she meets Liam, and they had a connection, I wanted to leap for joy, but can she accept him in her life, and into her heart with what has happened to her in the past? If you want an emotional rollercoaster ride, this is a book that you will enjoy, but it’s also one that really makes you connect well with the characters

Liam and Ruby

Three years of friends with bennies and it's time for more. Something's holding her back. When she finally tells Liam it's for a reason.

She thought the military would be her future. She just knew she'd be with people she could look up to and help her find that perfect future. Instead, it became a nightmare. One that wouldn't stop. When the fear wouldn't leave and she wasn't just dreaming, the threats the time was here and so was Liam.

Liam wasn't in it alone and neither was Ruby. Help and victims. Could they chase the nightmares? Or was the danger so real no one may be safe?

This a tough one with triggers. The brothers make it feel there is hope. Great characterizations, good, bad, and steamy.

Ruby and Liam's story blew me away. Ruby is a strong person but keeps everyone at arms length. Liam made a promise he fully intends to keep it. This storyline is amazing. Ruby shows courage, loyalty and anger. Excellent writing.

~~~~~~~~~~Tracy's ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Review~~~~~~~~~~
Ruby's story was so tough to read and what she went through. Liam was the perfect man but he is not without his own issues, he never has felt good enough being surrounded by veterans when he isn't one. Together their story ripped my heart out and wow what a finish! I loved how strong not only the male characters were but the women as well. I loved Dusty's letters, they really just made the story for me. This series is simply amazing and it is one not to be missed. I need Andi to write faster as I am craving more BRB!!!!
This book could be triggering for some so far warning now. Tough subjects will be approached and unfortunately we know all too well that scenarios similar to this one happen in real life. The power struggle is real and sickening.
Ruby is tough as nails but even she couldn’t escape the horrors that so many experience. Liam was ready to throw in the towel on her because her tough exterior was almost impenetrable but thankfully he doesn’t give up. He sees Ruby for who she truly is and will fight with her so that she never has to be alone again.
You will find yourself sucked into this book and you won’t be able to put it down!
Broken Mind is the 3rd book in the BRB series featuring Ruby and Liam. I loved Liam from the previous books so I was excited to read his story.
He and Ruby started a no strings attached relationship when she first came to Dusty’s bar. He has feelings for her but Ruby is so closed off she can’t see how he feels. As the book progresses, Liam breaks through her hard exterior to find a woman who is so broken. Liam helps Ruby come to terms with what happened to her and helped her get her justice.
That ending was awesome!!!! Hope Jensen likes to get “inspections” where he is going!!!!
The story will pull on her heart strings and keep you invested all the way through. This is the third book in this Broken Rebel Brotherhood Next Generation series. This is the story of Liam and Ruby and their emotional journey to their happily ever after. Ruby thinks she is broken and doesn't want anyone to get close. Liam wants more then a occasional thing. Ruby keeps pushing him away but he will not leave and give up. Their story is full of ups and downs but you will want to hand on. Looking forward to read more in this series.
I am so loving this MC! The characters, the world building, the visuals you get once you enter into the pages. You create the notes to a song and girl you sing it proudly and loudly! This is a great book, I am stunned at how all this went but it is such a good feeling I want more! Like Now! But hey I have not always been so addiment but this is one series you want on your shelf. Talk about a guilty memorable trip on wheels with horsepower you will not give up once you have ridden it or, oops; experience it! ANOTHER great addition to the series! Oh so looking for more!
Ruby was going through life and every day motions for the past three years trying to forget the bad experiences of her past and not letting anyone get too close to her, but all the while Liam was breaking down the walls she had built around her heart and was slowly finding out why she built them in the first place and when someone from Ruby's past comes looking for help, it brings up all past emotions and pain for Ruby and she turns to Liam and the BRB MC club for help. This was a great read, but it has some triggers and sensitive topics in it, so readers beware.
This story is the third in the "Broken Rebel Brotherhood-Next Generation". It's a stand alone read but I would read them in order. You just get more out it that way. This is Liam and Ruby's very emotional story that deals with abuse and assault. Ruby has built walls up around her due to the terror/tragedy she dealt with in her past. She and Liam meet and the attraction is instant but she keeps him at a distance. He is about to finally give up and mend his broken heart when her past comes forward. This is a good story with intrigue, family, loyalty, passion and great twists and turns.
Ruby is in the Army when her Uncle Dusty dies and leaves her his bar. Ruby has been through hell the entire time she has been enlisted. When she is discharged for mental reasons she heads to the bar she owns and it is 1200 miles away. Due to her trauma, she has control issues. Liam has been taking care of the finances at the bar. She meets Liam and cannot stay away from him. Liam is her knight in shining armor.
Wow what a book. The author tackles a tough subject of rape in the military by a superior at that. She handled the subject well and brought closure to the women involved. They were able to find justice against their atta ker qith the help of the Brotherhood, especially Liam, the VP andboyfriemd to Ruby. There are many emotions that go along with this book, however the author did a great job of explaining the turmoil and resolving the issues. Very anxious for the next book.
I was pulled into it by the end of the first chapter, which is where I stayed until I had read every single word that was written.
There are twists, turns and surprises throughout this book, some of the surprises are large, while others are small, some may actually hit you right between the eye's, while others may pull on your heart strings. But each and everyone hold equal importance within the story.
Emotions run high throughout the pages of the book and can be felt. I actually went through the emotions along with each of the characters.
I highly recommend this book and the author.
Incredible story
Ruby is a pistol. She wanted to serve her country. It was all she's ever wanted, until th betrayal. She came home, as she promised her uncle she would, but she'd never be whole.
Liam is feeling a bit less than everyone else, because the men in the BRB are mostly ex military, he's not. One thing he does know is he wants Ruby, but she continuously pushed hmmmm away.
Can he save her from her past? Can he make her love him? What will happen if her past doesn't let her go, can she survive? Great read.
