Enlarged, edited, and re-released (originally titled Baron of Dragon's Reach)

A girl in trouble. A boy on the hunt. And magic gone terribly awry.

Wishing to bring peace to her beleaguered land, and soothe her father's worries about a looming war, Elena agrees to an arranged marriage with the handsome son of their most volatile enemy. Her future husband's only stipulation? She must be a virgin bride.

Elena shrugs away that minor obligation, for fulfilling it will be a breeze for a lady who prefers books to boys. Yet, a year later, when her bridegroom announces he’s coming to claim her, Elena is in a panic. She's no longer the innocent he's expecting.

Her concerned maid suggests Elena seek out an unorthodox solution to her shameful problem. Cast a spell to hide her guilt. Yet, once the spell is wrought, not only does the result jeopardize Elena's chance to fulfill her promise, but endangers her dear father by raising the specter of war.

If you enjoy your fantasy with a humorous magical twist, you'll love this sweet tale of love, loss, and loose women.

Written in a style that feels easy to digest this book was short and sweet, with a plot that felt slightly predictable while still feeling refreshing. The lead character, Elena, is betrothed to her fathers enemy son, Lord Giles, with the stipulation that she must be a virgin bride. An obligation she saw no qualm with until she falls for a local minstrel one night and loses her innocence. This story follows Elena in her fears of failing her father and people, and with the help of her maid Anna she attempts to set right the mistake she made through the use of a local witch's assistant.

I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a quick read with a touch of mystery and magic, with a beautifully sweet ending.

I'm sure everyone has heard the line: "Be careful what you wish for. You might get it." Elena has a problem. Her wish results in a very unexpectedly upsetting situation. Fortunately for her, the author believes in sweet fairy tale happy endings, even if a weird twist is required (and it was). This was a surprisingly fun and creative read, perfect for young adult lovers of medieval fairy tale retellings.

This sweet, classic romance about a young noblewoman betrothed to a man she's never met but in love with someone else takes some interesting turns. It's also light-hearted and a fun read.
If you're looking for pure, escapist romance that's not too serious, this one should be on your TBR.
I liked it.

how true can her love be if she has tried to kill you? how true is his love if he lies about who he is and leaves without a trace.

love complicated by duplicitous folks and murder, as well as wild magic!

a bumpy ride.

I read and recall dearly enjoying author Shereen Vedam's short read BARON OF DRAGON'S REACH, when the Wild Rose Press opened her books had notes of. "watch for more of her releases!!". . I then read Daughter of the Sorcerer King too from the Wild Rose Press and my notes say 4 stars. Either I totally missed seeing any releases of hers or was unable to financially shop then. I am elated to see her regency coming out in March from Imajin books! I usually stick with romance (sweet to sizzling!) And only read some cozy and historical mystery, historical fiction in Regency and Victorian era but love just about any genres in romance, especially historical, paranormal, and fantasy, so i'm hoping to find more of her writing. I do recommend these two to get a feel of her writing voice. I'm looking forward to a longer read of hers.

Brilliant original alchemy and romance a story very well told and I gathered the characters up in my arms and read their story as a friend . Original and endearing I enjoyed this book for its originality and storytelling ,I guessed the outcome but it didn’t deter from the generally feel good you get from a decent engrossing read.

I adored this wonderfully whimsical tale because it's so full of truth. Truth without so much preaching. It grabbed me from the beginning and kept hold of me to the end-- a well done delicious recipe with just the right amounts of fantasy, comedy and a subtle kind of drama that involves suspending disbelief yet is definitely real life relatable. I love the message. Without giving too much away... It is, I feel, a message of Self-Love. When relationships don't go the way we desire, don't take it as something shameful. See the whole picture that is love, and believe in the magic of it.

This was a quick read, but held so much in its words. Elena fell in love with a minstrel, but she is bethroth to another. What will she do when her Minstrel never shows up and its time to meet her Bethrothed. Can she keep the secret from him or will he find out? Will things go awry when she tries to figure out what she can do for him not to know?.
