Niall Hayes is returning to his hometown, trying not to dwell on the fact that it's where his husband died. For ten years, Niall has been trying to move past his grief, but the fact that Scot's wedding ring was never found has always made the whole ordeal feel unfinished. But now, Niall hopes the prospect of landing a hot new account at work will prove sufficiently distracting.
Especially when he meets the client.
Blake Edwards is gorgeous, driven...and playing hard to get. Or so Niall thinks. While Niall works to set up a website for Blake's new charity, the two men get closer despite Blake's attempts to keep Niall at arm's length. But Niall is determined to have the man, and Blake slowly caves to temptation.
Then Niall's entire world is pulled out from under him when he learns that Blake was actually there the night Scot died...
(Note: This story takes place in a fictional world, the same as in the Shifting Isles Series. There are multiple gods, different names for the days of the week, etc. A glossary is included.)
This story takes place after the events of Second Place (Matchmakers #3).
G.R. Lyons stumbled into writing as a form of trauma recovery when traditional therapy wasn't working.
Then the story ideas just kept on coming.
Pulling from a vivid imagination as well as real-life experience as a trans man, a sexual assault survivor, and a person living with mental illness, Lyons has written multiple, interconnected series set within his fictional world of the Shifting Isles.
When not writing, Lyons can be found belly dancing around the house, studying anarcho-capitalist philosophy, buried in his never-ending TBR pile, or working out at the local CrossFit gym.
💖 🔥A great start to the story abet a sad one. The plot becomes alive when Blake's reason for the project is revealed, yah its got me. Holly smokes this book has all the emotions going from start to finish and including the middle. Angst in this is high with Blake's hiding something important from Niall. Both have a connection definitely between them with a past needing closure. A storyline of a horrible death with drugs and cheating involved as yet Niall is still angered over. Hot sexy scenes included yah I loved that with fight and the pull they had. A beautiful ending for both characters. I loved this book heeps and totally didn't want to put it down. A highly recommend read.
Niall comes home to where his husbands, Scot's death place. A new job and hopefully he can find home again after 11 years of moving around. A big clients contract on Second Act charity was a big deal to win in only 4 days.. Blake was the director and looking for a firm to handle his Second Act project with the website designing.
Reading this short story being the final after the trilogy was excellent. All four stories are about issues that people don't always talk about. Some of it is sad and real and other bits are very fictional.
