Strange things are happening to Brooke Fisher that causes her to question her sanity. Her hot coffee freezes, her hair turns green; and that’s just the beginning. Is the handsome man who has walked into her life the evil Shadowman she’s dreamed of, or her heart’s desire? Her conflicting emotions confuse her reality, just as they did during her childhood.

Will Engel feels an instant attraction to the beautiful bookstore clerk he meets while on vacation. As the connection turns into something deeper, he finds that he and Brooke are far from strangers and that their pasts are intertwined in a way that defies all logic. Unsure of his path, and questioning his part in Brooke’s destiny, he struggles to make sense of what is happening.

As the threat of the Shadowman grows stronger, Brooke realizes she must keep the mystical journal, which has found its way to her, away from him at all costs. What she finds in its pages not only confirms her destiny, but outlines a shift in power so great it will change her life, and Will’s…forever.

I really loved this paranormal romance! This was my first book by Henneman and it won't be my last. Loved Brooke as a character. Highly recommend, especially if you like paranormal romance!

“Her hands shook and her breathing quickened to match her already racing heart. His eyes...the eyes she had seen on her dreams practically her entire life were staring back at her with an intensity that looked right into her soul- and it crippled her.”

D.A. Henneman’s choice of title truly encompasses what this story is about. You are literally stepping into a magical dream world. We meet Brooke Fisher who lives in a world where she sometimes can’t tell the difference between her reality and the dreams and nightmares that have surrounded her since she was a child. One day she meets Will Engle, the charming and intriguing magician who walks into her small world and turns it upside down. She feels an instant connection to him, especially since he’s the one who is literally the man of her dreams. Will has strange yet exhilarating feeling towards Brooke and he’s not sure why. It’s their destiny to find each other and together they embark on an adventure to solve the mystery of Brooke’s dreams and find out who the Shadow man that walks her nightmares, truly is and what their connection leads to. A truly compelling and romantic paranormal story which I enjoyed very much.

I thought this was an enjoyable premise - I'm a real sucker for any kind of paranormal romance, and that portion of the story was original, a very fresh premise. The romance between Brooke and Will was very dreamy (pardon the pun) and believable. One thing I always appreciate in romance are the characters actually taking the time to get to know each other, and, aside from their very dramatic first meeting, that's exactly what they did. I liked that, despite their instant connection, they didn't just jump into bed together right away, but let their feelings build over a slow burn.

I'd also like to thank the author for a nuanced portrayal of Brooke's anxiety disorder. It's not something seen often in romance, and when it is portrayed it's usually very overdone or something that gets "cured" which is quite unrealistic.

I have only two small complaints - firstly that an editor's touch would have gone a long way. I saw very few typos, but there were a few formatting issues and, to my second point, that the story might have benefited from less time spent on the day-to-day of Brooke hanging out with Tara, going to work, getting ready for bed, etc. These scenes did feel a bit like filler to me and while there was nothing *wrong* with them, I found myself skimming in order to get back to the action of the story. Otherwise I found this an enjoyable read.

I really enjoyed reading this book, often outside on the patio. It is a nice combination of fantasy and romance. We are introduced to some colorful characters, mainly Brooke Fisher who likes to dive and swim, but also works in a book shop, and Will Engel, a magician.

Brooke and Will meet pretty early in the book and get along right away which is a nice change of pace for a romance book. I think their connection is pretty sweet. Will helps Brooke to better understand her dreams and nightmares and what she needs to do about them.

I thought this was a well told story, woven together nicely. I thought that the characters were quite realistic, flaws and all. The book is open ended, but not in a way that's frustrating to the reader. It leaves you wanting to find out what happens next.

All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

This is a dreamy fantasy very much rooted in the real world. A young diver, Brooke, discovers magical abilities that she never knew she had. She sells a mysterious journal the guy who (quite literally) is the man of her dreams. He’s a magician who doesn’t believe in magic – yet. Together they must learn to control and develop their powers.

It's enjoyable, with an intriguing, romantic premise with some heat sprinkled here and there. The tension comes in around the fourth chapter, when the two lovers meet, then it really picks up as they begin to unravel the mystery of the blank journal, then again toward the end, when something happens to Will (I won’t spoil it for you!), and you’re made to think Brooke will never figure it out. If you’re into magic and destiny, you might like this.

Love the realistic characters especially like the supporting characters Trina and Tony (that is mine and my husband’s names). Brooke and Will are two people who have shared dreams together and now meet in real life. Not all goes smoothly as they realise they both have magical abilities that have been dormant. Lots of action and leads into following books.

I am a sucker for books filled with romance, magic, and alternate dimensions, and this one definitely did not disappoint!
Brooke Fisher has always struggled with separating her dreams from reality. But when Will, the man of her dreams, appears in the bookstore where she works, her dreams become reality. Unfortunately, the Shadowman, who has relentlessly hunted her in the dreamworld, is not far behind.
The emergence of powers she does not understand coupled with the burgeoning romance between her and the enigmatic Will keep Brooke tied in knots. Ultimately, Brooke and Will must join forces to uncover the secrets hidden in an ancient journal and stop the Shadowman once and for all.
With a moderately paced plot and characters that are relatable and believable, this book is a must read. I am definitely looking forward to book 2!

Sea of Dreams features the protagonist, Brooke, who one day wakes up with green hair, and can turn coffee to ice. The first part of the book she’s confused on why these things are happening, and she questions her mentality. She meets a hunky boy who she is instantly attracted to. A romantic at heart, she cannot stop thinking of him. They are brought together for some reason…Did I mention he’s a magician?…a fun twist. A unique love story the author delivers with an excellent smooth writing style. I dropped a star, because I felt it was a little on the slow side, but otherwise thoroughly enjoyed and I recommend it to anyone whose into young romance, romantic dreamy fantasy, with passive female protagonist characters.

This is one of the best Paranormal books I have read this year. I loved every aspect of the plot. Brooke and Will are the couple everyone fights for. There were plenty of times the author kept me guessing throughout the novel. The magic and the incorporation of a dream world was weaved into the story beautifully.
I'm trying really hard not to give away any spoilers. Just understand I couldn't put this book down and stayed up until 4:30 am when I have to work s 12 hour shift just to finish this story.
If you live paranormal or books about magic of any kind do yourself a favor and read this one. I am glad I did. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

D.A. Henneman takes you on an exciting adventure, packed with magic and romance. Brooke, the heroine of the story is trying to understand all the strange events that are taking place in her life. Bizarre dreams, her hair changing color and other unusual things keep happening to her, causing her great confusion. Then a young man enters her life and the two discover an instant attraction. Together they unravel the mysterious events that plagued Brooke for years and change both of their lives forever. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading the next one!

I really enjoyed this novel about a man and a woman that have conflicts with themselves and each other...in two different dimensions. The author brought the mysticism of the four elements and magic spells together with gritty everyday problems people face. I especially loved learning about the Molokini Crater in Hawaii which I knew nothing about prior to reading this book. The author created characters that are real and likable while drawing you into a fun fantasy world where dark forces lie. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series!

Sea of Dreams was built around a fascinating plot, weaving everyday living into the paranormal. The characters were engaging and varied, the story lined filled with tensions and twists to keep you wanting to turn the page to discover more. I look forward to further challenges, uncovering more of the paranormal world and seeing where this will all end.

I absolutely loved this. Although magic is a common thing to find in fictional books, I have never read something like this book. Very interesting concept and I do expect to be finishing the series.

There is a good story in here and it felt unique to me, my issues are with how it was written. The flow of the plot points were a bit all over the place. I wished there was more of a background in the shared dreams, more of a build up the leads meeting and more development of the relationship. (Rather then endless “I wonder does he like me” declarations even after they had practically moved in together.) I also struggled with the “bag guy”, his motivations made no sense to me.

All in all, I would’ve enjoyed more backstory development instead of long diatribes about diving, dancing in Hawaii and coffee temperatures!

This romance was a refreshing change of pace for me. When Brooke and Will meet, they find a connection and are drawn to each other pretty early on. A little bit of magic, tossed in – made this for a book that was difficult to put down at times. I liked how together, they grew closer unraveling a mystery. Even Will will find some things about himself he never knew.

This is an easy recommendation, the characters are easy to like, there is suspense, mystery, fantasy and even a bit of heat and humor.

For a book I got for free on stuff your kindle day, it was actually pretty dang good. I had a good time reading it. It has a really cool magic system. But, I found myself easily distracted from it, and I don't feel the need to continue the series.

I would give this 3.5 stars. I really enjoyed the beginning and the end- got a little bored in the middle and some things were too easy. But I’ll read the next in the series to learn about the other elementals.

Brooke has throughout her life seen a man she has connected with powerfully in her dreams. Yet there has also been lurking a darker force, dividing these two that seem destined to be in love. But when Brooke meets Will in real love is when strange as well as wonderful events start to occur...

This was a very different genre for me to read - a fantasy romance, and I really enjoyed the thrill of it. I was rooting for Brooke and Will all the way and was convinced of their love and of fate destining them together. I would heartily recommend this to lovers of this genres.

In Chapter 6 of this book, there is a reference on page 47 to a book my character, Brooke, is reading. The hero makes a comment about the title and contents of her guilty pleasure, and that exchange stayed with me all these years. So much so that I wrote and released the "fictional" book she was reading back in 2023 as part of an anthology, which is no longer available.

Just like that exchange, the fictional-turned-real story, Wolf Of My Heart, stuck with me. So did Sam and Natasha's story. In 2024 I completed my work on the 2nd book, A Shifter For Solstice and prepared them both for launch. I'm so very happy to announce that the Shifters In New York Collection is launching August of 2025!

I was just thinking about how some stories stick with us. Burrow in deep and grab hold of something that we don't quite understand but which becomes clear with time. As a writer, I'm still figuring it all out, but I know one thing... I am so glad to have met Sam and his brother Brent. I didn't realize just how much I had missed writing shifters until I wrote them into life.

If you like bookworms, magick, marshmallow alphas, lingerie-wearing elves, and shorter reads, be sure to mark it "Want To Read" on Goodreads or give me a follow!

The beautiful cover and the synopsis really attracted me to this book and it didn't disappoint. Friendship, romance, intrigue and a supernatural realm are all woven together perfectly in Sea of Dreams by D.A. Henneman.

Brooke Fisher is both beautiful and mysterious. She has been plagued by dreams and nightmares she doesn't understand her whole life and for the most part thought she was going crazy. Despite the heartbreak she has had in her life I liked Brooke's strength and determination to try and work through the unusual events happening in her life (and loved her quirky hair!)

When handsome Will Engel, the 'man of her dreams' and a Vegas magician enters her life strange changes start to take place and piece by piece the puzzle starts to come together.

Together they journey to unlock the secrets of a mystical journal revealing a dangerous parallel realm where they are both hunted by the dark Shadowman Erebos and helped by the nurturing Sevilla.

Sea of Dreams is part one of a four part series. I loved all the unravelling, twists, the drama and the alternate world D.A. Henneman creates and I look forward to the journey continuing in Book 2.

This fantasy romance begins with Brooke’s recurrent dream of being near a pond, beckoned by the evil man who’d haunted her dreams her since childhood. She’d hoped it would’ve been the other one—the kind, loving man she’d shared so many secrets with.
A Vegas magician, Will takes a hiatus while his assistant is on maternity leave. When he meets Brooke in a book shop in Florida, both of their lives are changed forever.
The fantasy elements are woven seamlessly into this beautiful love story. Will and Brooke are well drawn and grounded characters who make the fantasy come alive with believable possibilities.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading what appears to be the first book in a series yet to come and I look forward to reading more.

Amazing read!!!! Very well written - you will not want to put it down! I finished this one, and I have already begun reading the next book, "Winds of Change". I must say, it is just as fascinating! I am really enjoying the, Power of Four series.

D.A. Henneman did an excellent job - keeping the readers interested with great endings (no let downs). Each story in the series flows and connects effortlessly to the next.....it's really like watching a movie (you literally connect with each character)!!!

This had that delightful B-movie quality that I used to see a lot in pnr, but has kind of fallen out of fashion recently. You have mysterious dreams, a heroine with latent magical powers, alternate dimensions, a magic goddamn book.

The hero, Will, is a stage magician. He's also, unfortunately, pretty bland. He and the heroine, Brook, have chemistry but it's a bland and relaxed kind of thing a lot of the time. Honestly I was more interested in the relationship between the two (sort of) antagonists than Brook and Will. Brook and Will call into the classic big misunderstanding trap because they refuse to have one simple conversation, and this made them even less impressive as a couple.
