Vampire Gloriana St. Clair comes with her lover to the coast of Scotland where Jeremiah Campbell is charged with ridding the land of the pirates plaguing the people there. It’s spring, a time for new beginnings, and Glory is eager to see her new home. Too bad it’s a stone nightmare.
Then the pirates attack and Glory is swept up in a fight for her life with the queen of the pirates herself. It’s horrifying. Wounded and afraid, Glory is glad to make a new friend, Florence daVinci. This is a woman who has lived for centuries and knows how to protect herself. Can Glory learn to do the same?
With witches warning her, and more pirates seeking revenge, Glory has to find her courage. Then she has to convince Jeremiah that she is strong enough to fight and win her own battles. But is she? Only a last clash under the full moon holds the answer.
Gerry Bartlett figures that vampires are pretty much like everyone else except for the liquid diet.
Eternity or Mexican food? Tough call.
Gerry’s a native Texan and lives halfway between Houston and Galveston. Pictured with her is her late wonder dog, a Bedlington Terrier named Belle.
When she started writing, she was still teaching and used the pseudonym Lynn McKay. You can probably still find her historical and two romantic suspense books for a penny on-line. Now that she’s no longer in the classroom and discovered the fun of writing about vampires, she uses her real name. Too bad some people think Gerry is a boy's name or short for Geraldine. No, it's not. Really.
She's still writing her Real Vampires series but is back to romantic suspense and contemporaries. Her Texas Heat series starts in Houston, her home town. Then there's her Lone Star Suspense series set in Austin where she went to the University of Texas. She loves the hill country there and brought some of her favorite characters from the Texas Heat series to Austin for the fast-paced suspense in the three books in that series.
You can check out Gerry’s website at gerrybartlett.com to find her blog and articles for writers. Her Perils of Publishing gives the scoop on what happens once "the call" comes. Oh, did you think it would be all roses and champagne? Well, of course it is.
When Gerry's not writing, she's treasure hunting for her antiques business in Alvin. Her favorite finds? Vintage purses and jewelry. It's a struggle not to keep it all. Be sure to sign up for her newsletter for the latest info about her books at http://ymlp.com/xgeyeewwgmgw
I think after 15 books it's time to call it quits on this series.
I don't know if I'm just bored with the story, over vampire fluff altogether, or I'm just not crazy about the Glory back in time pivot this series took, but it's time to say goodbye.
2.5 stars rounded up because I did enjoy the series a lot up until the past few books.
I love all of the Glory books and this one was no different. But I was a little sad there wasn't more Jeremiah/ Glory action. I live for those moments so I was a little disappointed we didn't get any hot and heavy scenes

Story set back into Jeremiah and Glory’s past when they were first together. After King James made Jeremiah the new “Guardian of the Coast’ on half an island near Scotland, Glory goes with him to their new castle only to find it mostly deserted and in terrible shape. Hardly a fortress ready to fight off pirates.
Glory may not know how to fight or run a castle or choose a wardrobe, but she knows how to make people feel useful and how to find capable people and delegate responsibilities.
I felt bad for Helen. She didn’t want to do what she did, but Glory forced her. Because of it she ended up the way she did and Glory didn’t seem to realize she was responsible.
And it’s basically Fergus’s fault that Glory got in trouble in the dungeon, though trouble does seem to follow her. Lol.
scenes: Glory showing off her archery skill, Glory consoling Lady Anne when the pirates attacked, Getting Lady Anne ready to flirt with the Captain and Jolie ‘repairing’ the dress.
Another fun Real Vampires story. In this historical offering, our charming and strong-willed Glory travels with her lover, the powerful Jeremiah, to the wild coast of Scotland, where he is charged with ridding the area of the marauding pirates who are killing and pillaging the King’s honest subjects who live there. The pirates are vicious and dangerous, their leader a fanatical Irish woman bent on revenge. Glory is understandably worried, and is determined to help as she can. It’s fun to see Glory develop her independence and resolve to take care of herself, and Jeremiah’s corresponding need to control and protect her as their relationship deepens. Glory meets her friend Florence in this book, and her bodyguard Valdez is with us, too. This is such a fun adventure. Enjoy!
I love this series, and over all a great book, but I have to mark it a star down as there were a couple of mistakes in the story line. If this had happened in the past, it then it doesn’t make sense why in a previous book Florence tells Glory the secret that she’s had an affair, with the Laird Campbell, as Glory would already know. Also Glory discovering the power she could teleport, in a previous book set in the future, she discovers this, can’t remember now as a while back, but either the demon or siren taught her that she had this power.
Jeremiah is appointed Guardian of the Coast to protect Scotland from pirate attacks. Of course, Gloriana must help him. She also plays matchmaker to some of the other characters. In this book the reader learns how Gloriana meets Florence definitely LaVincti. My only complaint is that since this story takes place before many of the other stories in the series, I would have a transition from modern-day to the time of this book.
I love this series so much. So glad she keeps writing it, it’s the only vampire series I read now. Glory is awesome how she defies Jeremiah at almost every turn. She didn’t disappoint in this book either. Oh and we got to learn how she met Florence in this book.
Wonderful addition to the Glory and Jerimiah adventures! I love couples who are so dedicated to each other that nothing, even risking their own lives, can break them apart. With more than one happy couple, this book gave me lots of smiles and good feels.
I have been reading this series faithfully for over 10 years and the stories just keep getting better and better. I love the story of Glory and Jerry and I can’t get enough! If you like vampires and adventure, this is definitely the seres for you!
I have loved reading about Gloriana and Jeremiah's life in the earlier days of their relationship. I had no idea before this, exactly how she had met Flo. Loved this book!
Worth the wait... Another WINNER!!! i wasn't sure about all the prequels happening... Ooh i loved it plus Glory meets Flo !!! I love those girls together!!!
