Wishes define us. They are the shadows of spells we cast on other people, and the rough matter dreams and nightmares are made of.
Since time immemorial, humankind has been fascinated by stories of men and women wishing for something they don’t have. We like to reach for the next, the biggest, the best—but sometimes we reach too far. Because reaching has its consequences: paradoxes, shadowy places, dead ends that force us to face the darkest part of ourselves. Our shadowy-selves feed the demons with all-too-familiar faces.
This short collection of stories contains fragments of that darkness from a variety of sources, but also carries a warning: the scariest demons are the ones we refuse to acknowledge.
I am an independent author living in Rome, the Eternal City. I grew up writing of falling empires, space battles, mortal betrayals, monumental decisions, and everything in between.
I write dark fantasy, mythological fantasy, fairytale retellings and lots of other cool stuff.
I spend my days traveling through time and space and, more often than not, writing about impossible but necessary worlds.

The third time is the charm - 4/5 A genie in a bottle tells us that he’s learned quite a few things about humans over the years. As the wishes people make reveal more about who they are than they care to admit. Now there’s another human standing in front of him, ready to tell the genie his three wishes.
Interesting way to teach us something about the psychology surrounding wishes. And it shows that what we want in life is not always what we need.
Hero’s journey - 3/5 The beginning is a bit puzzling, I had no idea what to make of it at first. But the ending makes it worth it. Once you realize what this story is about, it’s pretty interesting. And I quite like the protagonist’s motivation for writing down the story of his father.
Whishes do come true - 4/5 A woman who has lost too many unborn children visits a witch, hoping the witch might help her finally give birth to a healthy child. But it will come at a price …
What a brilliant twist at the end.
Better beliefs - 3/5 Another one I didn’t really get until we get to the end because the writer keeps us in the dark for so long. The last sentence is quite powerful though.
The artist with half-soul - 4/5 A mortal finds his way into the realm of dreams. The man finds and charms a woman and asks her to grant him a wish.
This is gripping to say the least, but that twist at the end …
This a solid short story collection. All the stories revolve around the same theme of whishes. And I quite like how diverse and interesting the stories are. All these stories are just really, really short.
This is the right book for me. There are many short stories, but you can explore your imagination through the words that the writer used in this book. Its not a typical horror story and there is a unique plot that made me excite to read more and more and in the end I WISHED that I could read more.
This is a series of short stories all surrounding the theme of wishes. while some were pure delight on their own, some ended so abruptly that I was still waiting for the story to start. A few feel quite rushed and would benefit from more work - character development can happen even in very short stories.
Never wish are some stories where all of them talk about the wishes and some of their consequences and differences, this is a very short book and very interesting, the cover was totally one of my favorites, and I really enjoyed reading this.
